AIM: To review and summarize the current research and achievements in the field of diabetic cataract, with the aim of better identifying research hotspots and trends in this area.METHODS: Based on the relevant literature retrieved from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Web of Science databases, and Pubmed, a bibliometric analysis of the diabetic cataract was conducted by means of Microsoft Office Excel 2017 and CiteSpace 6.3R2. Research hotspots were subsequently synthesized after visualizations of author/country collaborations, co-citation networks of highly cited literature, keyword clustering, and emergence.RESULTS: A total of 815 Chinese and 572 English publications were finally included. Overall, this field had maintained substantial scholarly attention globally, though publications had progressively decreased since 2018. While inter-institutional collaboration in this area remained limited, a multinational collaborative network had emerged with the People's Republic of China, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, and the Kingdom of Spain as central hubs. Core research priorities in diabetic cataract consistently encompassed surgical and pharmacological interventions, pathogenesis, associated ocular/systemic complications; while international and domestic research contents aligned fundamentally in these domains, but the domestic research was unique in nursing interventions and herbal medicine-based interventions. Recent analytical trends revealed that Chinese investigations prioritized the pathogenic mechanisms of diabetic cataract, whereas international efforts concentrated on clinical therapeutics.CONCLUSION: This bibliometric analysis of diabetic cataract research literature(2000-2024)synthesizes the current advancements, research priorities, and scholarly contributions in the field, and intuitively demonstrates significant academic merit and clinical relevance, which can provide evidence-based guidance for the future research trajectories.

OBJECTIVES: To explore the mechanism of Lacticaseibacillus paracasei E6 for improving vinorelbine-induced immunosuppression in zebrafish. METHODS: The intestinal colonization of L. paracasei E6 labeled by fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) in zebrafish was observed under fluorescence microscope. In a zebrafish model of vinorelbine-induced immunosuppression, the immunomodulatory activity of L. paracasei E6 was assessed by analyzing macrophage and neutrophil counts in the caudal hematopoietic tissue (CHT), the number of T-lymphocyte, and the expressions of interleukin-12 (IL-12) and interferon-γ (IFN-γ). The contents of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) in L. paracasei E6 fermentation supernatant and the metabolites of L. paracasei E6 in zebrafish were detected by LC-MS/MS-based targeted metabolomics. The immunomodulatory effects of the SCFAs including sodium acetate, sodium propionate and sodium butyrate were evaluated in the zebrafish model of immunosuppression. RESULTS: After inoculation, green fluorescence of FITC-labeled L. paracasei E6 was clearly observed in the intestinal ball, midgut and posterior gut regions of zebrafish. In the immunocompromised zebrafish model, L. paracasei E6 significantly alleviated the reduction of macrophage and neutrophil counts in the CHT, increased the fluorescence intensity of T-lymphocytes, and promoted the expressions of IL-12 and IFN-γ. Compared with MRS medium, L. paracasei E6 fermentation supernatant showed significantly higher levels of acetic acid, propionic acid and butyric acid, which were also detected in immunocompromised zebrafish following treatment with L. paracasei E6. Treatment of the zebrafish model with sodium acetate and sodium propionate significantly increased macrophage and neutrophil counts in the CHT and effectively inhibited vinorelbine-induced reduction of thymus T cells. CONCLUSIONS L. paracasei E6 can improve vinorelbine-induced immunosuppression in zebrafish through its SCFA metabolites acetic acid and propionic acid.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the efficacy of Lactobacillus plantarum ZG03 (L. plantarum ZG03) for ameliorating oxidative stress in zebrafish. METHODS: We evaluated the growth pattern of L. plantarum ZG03, observed its morphology using field emission scanning electron microscopy, and assessed its safety and potential efficacy with whole-genome sequencing for genetic analysis. FITC-labeled ZG03 was used to observe its intestinal colonization in zebrafish. In a zebrafish model of 2% glucose-induced oxidative stress, the effect of ZG03 was evaluated by assessing the changes in neutrophils in the caudal hematopoietic tissue (CHT), superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, and malondialdehyde (MDA) content. Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry-based targeted metabolomics was used for analyzing short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) in the zebrafish, and the antioxidant effects of the key metabolites (acetate, propionate, and caproate) were tested. RESULTS: On MRS agar, L. plantarum ZG03 formed circular, smooth, moist, and milky-white colonies with a rod-shaped cell morphology. Genomic analysis revealed abundant sugar metabolism gene clusters. After inoculation of FITC-labeled L. plantarum ZG03 in zebrafish, green fluorescence was clearly observed in the intestinal bulb, mid-intestine, and hind intestine. In zebrafish with glucose-induced oxidative stress, L. plantarum ZG03 significantly reduced ROS levels and the number of neutrophils in the CHT with increased SOD activity. L.plantarum ZG03 significantly increased the content of SCFAs including acetic acid, propionic acid, and caproic acid in zebrafish metabolites. In addition, sodium acetate, sodium propionate, and sodium caproate in the SCFAs significantly increased SOD activity in the zebrafish models. CONCLUSIONS L. plantarum ZG03 ameliorates oxidative stress in a glucose-induced zebrafish model through its metabolites, particularly the SCFAs including acetic acid, propionic acid and caproic acid.

Objective: To explore the moderating role of estradiol in the relationship between parenting styles and preschool children's behavioral problems, so as to provide a theoretical basis for improving the development of human s emotional health development in early life stage. Methods: During September to November in 2022, 354 children aged 3-6 years and their parents from two kindergartens in Bengbu City were chosen by using stratified cluster sampling method for the questionnaire survey. The Parenting Style Scale and the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) were used to collect information on parenting style and child behavioral problems. Salivary estradiol of children was collected and tested. Independent samples t test was applied to compare the scores of the scale for parental up bringing and children s behavioral problems, and Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to explore the relationship among parental upbringing, estradiol and children s behavioral problems. Results: Parents doting, laissez faire, autocratic, and inconsistent parenting styles were positive associated with child behavior problems( r =0.14-0.70); fathers democratic parenting style was negatively associated with child behavior problems( r =-0.14，-0.22，-0.21，-0.17，-0.27，-0.20); mothers democratic parenting styles was negatively correlated with scores on all five dimensions of child behavior problems except the withdrawal dimension ( r =-0.14，-0.12，-0.13，-0.21，-0.12)( P <0.05). Estradiol levels had significant moderating effects on maternal doting parenting style and children s withdrawal ( β =0.68) as well as social problems ( β =-1.00), also moderating laissez faire parenting styles and children s withdrawal problems ( β =0.75)( P <0.05). For children with low levels of estradiol, withdrawal problem scores were negatively associated with mother s doting parenting style and positively associated with laissez faire parenting style, and socialization problem scores were associated with mother s doting parenting style; for children with high levels of estradiol, withdrawal problem scores were positively associated with mother s doting parenting style, and socialization problem scores were associated with mother s doting parenting style ( t=2.84, 6.24, 3.16 , 2.37, 4.49, P <0.05). Conclusions Parenting styles are strongly associated with child behavioral problems; estradiol levels play a moderating role in mothers doting, laissez faire parenting styles and children s withdrawal problems and social problems.Parents should adopt more positive parenting styles and focus on the role of estradiol levels in maternal education to reduce the occurrence of behavioral problems in children.

Objective To analyze the characteristics of visceral leishmaniasis cases in Henan Province, so as to provide insights into formulation of the visceral leishmaniasis control srtrategy. Methods All epidemiological data of reported visceral leishmaniasis cases in Henan Province from 2021 to 2023 were retrieved from the National Notifiable Disease Report Information Management System of Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and the epidemiological features and diagnosis of visceral leishmaniasis cases were descriptively analyzed. Results A total of 93 visceral leishmaniasis cases were reported in Henan Province from 2021 to 2023, with a male to female ratio of 2.58∶1, and including 2 imported cases from other provinces and 91 local cases. The number of visceral leishmaniasis cases peaked during the period between March and May, and between July and October. The reported visceral leishmaniasis cases had ages of 7 months to 74 years, with the largest number of cases found at ages of 0 to 9 years (26 cases, 27.96%), followed by at ages of 60 to 70 years (24 cases, 25.81%). Farmer (47 cases, 50.54%) and diaspora children (19 cases, 20.43%) were predominant occupations, and 91 local visceral leishmaniasis cases were found in 6 cities of Zhengzhou, Luoyang, Anyang, Hebi, Sanmenxia and Xuchang. The median duration from onset of visceral leishmaniasis to diagnosis was 20 days, and there were 25.81% (24/93) cases with 10 days and less duration from onset to diagnosis, 38.71% (36/93) cases receiving diagnosis at 11 to 30 days following onset, and 35.48% (33/93) cases receiving diagnosis for more than 30 days following onset. All cases were predominantly diagnosed in province- (60.00%) and city-level (28.89%) medical institutions. Conclusions The number of visceral leishmaniasis is on the rise in Henan Province, with a gradually expanding coverage. Intensified monitoring of visceral leishmaniasis cases, dogs, and vectors, dog management, sandflies control and improved individual protection are recommended to prevent the spread of visceral leishmaniasis.

Objective To explore the risk factors for retinopathy in patients with metabolic syndrome.Methods A total of 120 patients with metabolic syndrome admitted to Nanyang Central Hospital from July 2021 to July 2023 were selected as the research subjects,and the patients were categorized into the retinopathy group(n=58)and the non-retinopathy group(n=62)according to the results of fundus examination.The clinical data of patients with metabolic syndrome in both groups were collected and compared.10 mL of blood was collected from the elbow vein of patients in both groups,and the hemoglobin level was measured using a fully automatic blood cell analyzer.The levels of total cholesterol(TC),triacylglycerol(TG),high density lipoprotein-cholesterol(HDL-C),and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol(LDL-C)in the two groups were measured using an automatic biochemical analyzer.The glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c)level was determined by high-performance liquid chromatography.The estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR)was calculated using the chronic kidney disease epidemiology collaboration equation.Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to determine the risk factors for retinopathy in patients with metabolic syndrome.Results There were no statistically significant differences in smoking history,drinking history,usage rates of hypoglycemic drugs,lipid-lowering drugs and antihypertensive drugs,systolic blood pressure,cataract,TC,TG,HDL-C,LDL-C,and eGFR between the two groups(P＞0.05).The age,disease duration,insulin usage rate,diastolic blood pressure,HbA1c level,and anemia incidence of patients in the retinopathy group were significantly higher than those in the non-retinopathy group(P＜0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that older age,longer disease duration,insulin injection,higher diastolic blood pressure,higher HbA1c level,and lower hemoglobin level were independent risk factors for retinopathy in patients with metabolic syndrome(P＜0.05).Conclusion Old age,long disease duration,insulin injection,high systolic blood pressure,high HbA1c level,and low hemoglobin level are independent risk factors for retinopathy in patients with metabolic syndrome.

Objective To investigate the risk factors and risk prediction model of retinal detachment in patients with myopia.Methods The clinical data of myopic patients treated in our hospital from January 2021 to December 2023 were retrospectively analyzed.A total of 128 patients(128 eyes)with myopic retinal detachment who met the requirements were selected as the retinal detachment group,and 128 myopic patients(128 eyes)without retinal detachment were selected as the control group.The clinical data of patients in the two groups were collected and compared,including age,gender,di-opter,education level,affected side,whether to bear load or not,whether to vibrate or not,whether to have cataract or not,whether to have asthenopia or not,blood pressure,history of diabetes,history of ocular trauma,history of ophthal-mic surgery,and retinal thickness.Risk factors related to retinal detachment in myopia were determined through the multi-variate logistic regression analysis,and based on these factors,the risk prediction model was established.The receiver op-erating characteristic(ROC)curve was used to evaluate the predictive value of the model.Results The age,diopter,systolic blood pressure,cataract incidence,asthenopia incidence,ocular trauma and ophthalmic surgery rates of myopic patients in the retinal detachment group were significantly higher than those in the control group(all P＜0.05).The retinal thickness and choroidal thickness of myopic patients in the retinal detachment group were significantly smaller than those in the control group(both P＜0.05).The risk factors for retinal detachment in myopic patients were older age,higher diopter(absolute value),accompanied by ocular diseases or discomfort such as cataract,asthenopia and ocular trauma,thinner choroid,and thinner retina(all OR＞1,P＜0.05).The areas under the ROC curve(0.95CI)for predication of retinal de-tachment based on age,ocular disease or discomfort,diopter,choroidal thickness,and retinal thickness alone and their combination were 0.668(0.382-0.936),0.645,0.676(0.407-0.942),0.731(0.503-0.933),0.745(0.499-0.983),and 0.844(0.692-0.983),respectively.The area under the curve(0.844),sensitivity,specificity,and accuracy of the prediction model based on the combination of the five indicators were higher,indicating that this model had a better predic-tion effect.Conclusion The risk factors for retinal detachment in myopic patients are older age,higher diopter(abso-lute value),accompanied by ocular diseases or discomfort such as cataract,asthenopia and ocular trauma,thinner cho-roid,and thinner retina.The risk prediction model constructed based on these factors has a high evaluation effect.

Objective:To analyze the influence of epidural labor analgesia on neonatal breast-seeking behavior and first breastfeeding.Methods:This study was an observational study. According to the cross-sectional study formula and inclusion and exclusion criteria, 150 cases of puerperas and their full-term infants who underwent vaginal delivery in the Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University from March to September 2020 were included as the research objects, and the time of breast searching behavior in newborn crawling was observed and recorded. According to whether epidural analgesia was used or not, the patients were divided into analgesic group and non-analgesic group (the specific names of the two groups), and the outcome variables were analyzed.Results:There were 81 cases of successful breast crawl, 69 cases of failure, including 94 cases of epidural analgesia, 56 cases of non-epidural analgesia. Epidural analgesia had no effect on breast crawl and the time of breast searching behavior ( P>0.05). For puerperas with epidural analgesia, the total score of Breastfeeding Assessment Tool (IBFAT) and the scores of its four dimensions such as feeding time, foraging, sucking and nipple holding behavior were 9(7, 10), 3(2, 3), 2(2, 3), 2(1, 2), 2(1, 2), which lower than those non-epidural analgesia puerperas, which were 10(8, 10), 3(3, 3), 3(2, 3), 2(2, 2), 2(1, 2), the differences were statistically significant ( Z values were -6.36- -4.32, all P<0.05). Conclusions:When epidural analgesia is used clinically, medical staff need to seize the best time of drug use, pay attention to continuous monitoring of drug use duration and dosage, while exerting drug analgesia effect, it is also necessary to minimize adverse outcomes and reduce the impact of analgesics on breastfeeding.

Objective:To evaluate the influence of a moisturizer containing oat kernel oil for xeroderma and water content of the stratum corneum in children.Methods:From September to December 2022, 30 children with xeroderma were treated in the Dermatology Department of Tongzhou Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Beijing; 13 were males and 17 were females, and the age was 7.33±2.63 years. This was a single-center self-controlled trial. All children applied the moisturizer on the dry skin of the bilateral limbs two time per day for 14 days, and were followed up at 7 days and 14 days. Efficacy was evaluated according to the water content of the stratum corneum, visual scale, xerosis severity scale (XSS), Specified Symptom Sum Score (SRRC), Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and so on. and side-reactions were recorded.Results:After application of the moisturizer, the median of water content in the stratum corneum was 49.00 (33.83, 87.25), 48.84 (32.58, 100.34) at 7 d and 14 d respectively, showing significant increases compared with that at baseline (median 26.51 (16.00, 47.75) ( Z=-3.075, Z=-2.911, P<0.01). The visual scale, XSS, SRRC and VAS showed that compared with the baseline at 7 d, 14 d, the skin dryness and pruritus scores improved significantly ( Z=-4.424, -4.150, -3.943, -4.400; Z=-4.744, -4.409, -4.260, -4.409, P<0.01). Conclusions:The application of this moisturizer containing oat kernel oil could effectively improve skin dryness and the water content of the stratum corneum without serious adverse reactions.

Objective: To understand physical activity status of children and adolescents in Tujia inhabited areas, and to provide reference for the intervention model of physical activity of children and adolescents in minority areas. Methods: A cluster sample of 2 466 Tujia pupils from two primary schools in Lichuan City, Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Hubei Province was selected to investigate physical activity status of Tujia pupils. The univariate χ 2 test was used to analyze the physical activity status of Tujia children and adolescents and its influencing factors. Results: The median duration of high intensity activity was 49.9 minutes/day in the last week, and 47.93% of participants met the physical activity standard( χ 2=80.47, P <0.01), the median duration of sitting was 396.1 minutes/day in the last week, and the qualified rate of screen time was 78.99%, and the differences of qualified rate between daystudents and residential students were of statistical differences( χ 2=35.12, P <0.01)). Conclusion The children and adolescents in the Tujia community are lack of physical activity. Therefore, it is necessary to take effective intervention measures to pay attention to the children and adolescents physical activity.
