Qingzao Jiufeitang is a famous classical formula for treating lung injury caused by warm and dryness, included in the Catalogue of Ancient Famous Classical Formulas(The First Batch). By systematically organizing ancient and modern literature on this formula, this study analyzed and verified the origin, medicinal composition, original plants and processing, dosage and decoction method, efficacy and application of this formula. According to the research, Qingzao Jiufeitang was first recorded in Yimen Falyu in the Qing dynasty, and its creation was mainly inspired by the Ming dynasty physician MIAO Xiyong's idea of the moisturizing drugs with sweet flavour and cold nature. Based on the 2020 edition of the Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China(hereinafter referred to as the Chinese Pharmacopoeia) and the textual research results of modern scholars on traditional Chinese herbal medicines, the botanical sources and processing methods of the herbs in this formula are basically clarified. Among them, Mori Folium, Gypsum Fibrosum, Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, Sesami Semen Nigrum, Asini Corii Colla, Ophiopogonis Radix and Eriobotryae Folium are consistent with the 2020 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia. The primary source of Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma is the dried roots and rhizomes of Glycyrrhiza uralensis, family Leguminosae, while the primary source of Armeniacae Semen Amarum is the dried mature seeds of Prunus armeniaca, family Rosaceae. It is recommended to use Gypsum Ustum, stir-fried Sesami Semen Nigrum, stir-fried Armeniacae Semen Amarum, Asini Corii Colla bead, and honey-fried Eriobotryae Folium, and the rest of the raw products. According to the conversion of ancient and modern doses, the recommended dosages are 11.19 g for Mori Folium, 9.33 g for Gypsum Fibrosum, 3.73 g for Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 2.61 g for Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 3.73 g for Sesami Semen Nigrum, 4.48 g for Ophiopogonis Radix, 2.61 g for Armeniacae Semen Amarum, 3.73 g for Eriobotryae Folium. The decoction method is to add 300 mL of water, decoct it down to 180 mL, remove the residue, and then add 2.98 g of Asini Corii Colla into the decoction. Take it warm after meals, two to three times a day. Qingzao Jiufeitang has the effects of clearing dryness and moistening the lungs, nourishing Yin and invigorating Qi. In ancient times, it was mainly used to treat stagnation and depression of various Qi, as well as paralysis, asthma and vomiting. In modern clinical practice, it is mostly used to treat diseases in respiratory system, otolaryngology, skin system and digestive system caused by warm-dry impairing lung, deficiency of both Qi and Yin. The above research results can provide a reference for the later development of Qingzao Jiufeitang.

Background::Breast cancer is ranked among the most prevalent malignancies in the Chinese female population. However, comprehensive reports detailing the latest epidemiological data and attributable disease burden have not been extensively documented.Methods::In 2018, high-quality cancer surveillance data were recorded in 700 population-based cancer registries in China. We extracted data on female breast cancers (International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision [ICD-10]: C50) and estimated the incidence and mortality in 2022 according to the baseline data and corresponding trends from 2010 to 2018. Pathological types were classified according to the ICD for Oncology, 3rd Edition codes. Disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) were calculated as the sum of the years of life lost (YLLs) and years lived with disability (YLDs).Results::In 2022, approximately 357,200 new female breast cancer cases and 75,000 deaths occurred in China, accounting for 15.59% and 7.94% of total new cancer cases and deaths, respectively. The age-standardized incidence rate (ASIR) was 33.04 per 100,000. When analyzed by pathological type, the ASIRs for papillary neoplasms, invasive breast carcinoma, rare and salivary gland-type tumors, and other types were 1.13, 29.79, 0.24, and 1.88 per 100,000, respectively. The age-standardized mortality rate (ASMR) was 6.10 per 100,000. A total of 2,628,000 DALYs were found to be attributable to female breast cancer in China, comprising 2,278,300 YLLs and 349,700 YLDs. The ASIR, ASMR, and age-standardized rate (ASR) for DALYs in urban areas were consistently higher than those in rural areas. We observed a four-fold increase in the ASIR and ASR for DALYs and an eight-fold increase in the ASMR among females over 55 years compared with those aged under 55 years.Conclusion::These data provide invaluable insights into the latest epidemiology of female breast cancer in China and highlight the urgency for disease prevention and control strategy formulation.

BackgroundHome-based intervention occupies a prominent place in the treatment of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in children, whereas previous studies on the effect of home-based early intensive behavioral intervention on verbal ability of children with ASD are somewhat inadequate. ObjectiveTo study the effects of intensive family behavioral of intervention based on Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP) on the language ability of children with ASD, so as to provide references for the development of family intervention strategies for children with ASD. MethodsChildren aged 2 to 3 years old who attended the Children's Rehabilitation Department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University Medical College from September 2020 to December 2021 and met the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fifth edition (DSM-5) diagnostic criteria for ASD were selected as the study objects. A non-randomized concurrent control trial was conducted to compare a study group (n=24) receiving home-based early intensive behavioral intervention using VB-MAPP with a control group (n=14) receiving training from other special institutions or early childhood education institutions. The intervention lasted for 6 months in both groups. Before and after the intervention, the VB-MAPP milestone assessment was performed in the two groups, and the VB-MAPP milestone score, mand, trac and listener responds were selected as the study indicators. Then the intervention effect was compared between two groups, and the multiple linear regression was performed to screen the related influencing factors. ResultsAfter intervention, the total milestone assessment score, mand, tact and listener responds scores of study group were higher than those of control group, with statistical difference (Z=-4.339~-2.195, P<0.05 or 0.01). Multiple linear regression analysis denoted that the average weekly hours of home-based intervention in the first three months had certain effect on listener responds (β=1.029, P<0.05). ConclusionApplication of home-based early intensive behavior intervention using VB-MAPP may contribute to the improvement of verbal abilities such as mand, tact and listener responds in children with ASD. Exposure to particulate matter 2.5 (PM2.5) potentially triggers airway inflammation by activating nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB). Sirtuin 2 (SIRT2) is a key modulator in inflammation. However, the function and specific mechanisms of SIRT2 in PM2.5-induced airway inflammation are largely understudied. Therefore, this work investigated the mechanisms of SIRT2 in regulating the phosphorylation and acetylation of p65 influenced by PM2.5-induced airway inflammation and bronchial hyperresponsiveness. Results revealed that PM2.5 exposure lowered the expression and activity of SIRT2 in bronchial tissues. Subsequently, SIRT2 impairment promoted the phosphorylation and acetylation of p65 and activated the NF-κB signaling pathway. The activation of p65 triggered airway inflammation, increment of mucus secretion by goblet cells, and acceleration of tracheal stenosis. Meanwhile, p65 phosphorylation and acetylation, airway inflammation, and bronchial hyperresponsiveness were deteriorated in SIRT2 knockout mice exposed to PM2.5. Triptolide (a specific p65 inhibitor) reversed p65 activation and ameliorated PM2.5-induced airway inflammation and bronchial hyperresponsiveness. Our findings provide novel insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying the toxicity of PM2.5 exposure. Triptolide inhibition of p65 phosphorylation and acetylation could be an effective therapeutic approach in averting PM2.5-induced airway inflammation and bronchial hyperresponsiveness.

Objective To explore the potential mechanisms of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy in ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI)-induced acute kidney injury (AKI). Methods Forty-five C57/BL6 male mice were randomly divided into three groups: sham group, IRI group, and IRI+MSCs group, with 15 mice in each group. The IRI-induced AKI model in mice was reproduced by clamping both renal pedicles for 35 minutes. In the sham group, both kidneys were exposed, but their pedicles were not clamped. Six hours after reperfusion, mice in IRI+MSCs group received 100 μL of MSCs (1×104 /μL) isolated from the bone marrow from C57/BL6 mice via tail vein, while the mice in the IRI group received same amount of normal saline. Blood samples were harvested at 48 hours after reperfusion, and levels of serum creatinine (SCr) and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) were determined. The changes in renal pathology were observed by microscopy with PAS staining, and the tubular injury and acute tubular necrosis (ATN) scores were calculated. The number of leukocytes (CD45+) infiltrated in kidney at 24 hours and 72 hours after reperfusion was measured with flow cytometry. The number of neutrophils (Ly-6G+) and macrophages (F4/80+) infiltrated in kidneys at 24 hours and 72 hours after reperfusion was determined by immunofluorescence. Results There was significant increase in the related parameters in IRI group compared with those of sham group. The levels of SCr (μmol/L) and BUN (mmol/L) were 180.3±8.8 vs. 9.7±3.5, and 1 121.1±8.3 vs. 9.4±2.3, both P < 0.01. The score of tubular injury was 4.80±0.55 vs. 0 at 48 hours after reperfusion. The quantity of leukocyte (CD45+) infiltration in kidney at 24 hours and 72 hours after reperfusion was increased (×105 cells/g: 60.50±2.56 vs. 19.46±4.83, 42.00±1.87 vs. 14.70±3.74, both P < 0.01), and the number of neutrophils (Ly-6G+) and macrophages (F4/80+) infiltrated in kidney at 24 hours and 72 hours after reperfusion was also increase although the number of leukocytes infiltrated in kidney was significantly lower at 72 hours after reperfusion than that at 24 hours. There was significant lowering of the levels of SCr and BUN [SCr (μmol/L): 99.0±8.0 vs. 180.3±8.8, BUN (mmol/L): 84.5±7.6 vs. 112.1±8.3, both P < 0.01] in IRI+MSCs group, compared to IRI group. For the degree of tubular necrosis in two groups, the tubular injury scores were 2.60±0.55 vs. 4.80±0.55 (P < 0.05). The number of leukocytes infiltrated in kidney at 24 hours and 72 hours after reperfusion (×105 cells/g) were 24.20±4.53 vs. 60.50±2.56, 31.70±3.15 vs. 42.00±1.87 (both P < 0.01). The number of neutrophils was lowered despite (the number of macrophages was increased). However, the number of infiltrated leukocytes was significantly more in IRI+MSCs group at 72 hours than that at 24 hours (×105 cells/g: 31.70±3.15 vs. 24.20±4.53, P < 0.05). Conclusion MSCs could protect against IRI induced AKI by reducing the total number of leuckocytes, especially that of the neutrophils infiltrating into ischemic kidney and by recruiting macrophages into ischemic kidney.
