ObjectiveTo delineate imaging findings using an imaging platform and investigate the correlation between MRI characteristics of spinal cord atrophy and clinical diagnosis in children with spinal cord injury (SCI). MethodsImaging data of 150 children with SCI admitted to Beijing Bo'ai Hospital, China Rehabilitation Research Center, from January, 2002 to March, 2024 were collected and imported into the imaging platform. The anteroposterior and transverse diameters of the middle part of the spinal cord at the cross-section with the most severe atrophy were measured, and the relevant indicators of the previous normal spinal cord segment were measured as controls; the radiomic features were extracted. Clinical data of the children including gender, age, cause of injury, sensory level, motor level, spinal cord injury level, injury severity and disease course were collected. ResultsSpinal cord atrophy was identified in 81 cases (54%), among which 78 cases (96%) were American Spinal Injury Association Impairment Scale (AIS) grade A and 3 cases (4%) were AIS grade C. The upper boundary of the spinal cord atrophy site strongly correlated with the injury level, motor level and sensory level (r > 0.8, P < 0.001). ConclusionMore than half of children with SCI may develop secondary spinal cord atrophy, the vast majority of whom suffer from complete spinal cord injury; the upper boundary of spinal cord atrophy is correlated with the injury level.

Objective:To analyze the current status of diagnosis and treatment of rosacea in China, and to strengthen the understanding and management of this disease. Methods:A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted, and patients with rosacea were enrolled from 23 tertiary hospitals in 6 provinces or municipalities in northern and southern China. Clinical characteristics, previous diagnosis and treatment status of these patients were collected through questionnaires. Non-normally distributed continuous data were described by M ( Q1, Q3), and compared using Mann-Whitney U test, while categorical data were compared using chi-square test. Results:Among the 593 patients with rosacea, 164 were males and 429 were females, with a male-to-female ratio of 1∶2.6; 205 patients were from southern China, and 388 from northern China; most patients (349 cases, 58.8%) were aged 20 to 40 years, and the patients from northern China were significantly older than those from southern China (median age: 37 years vs. 30 years, P < 0.001). Multiple-site involvement (371 cases, 62.6%) and coexistence of multiple phenotypes (391 cases, 65.9%) were common, the cheeks (429 cases, 72.3%) and nose (393 cases, 66.3%) were mostly affected, and skin lesions mainly manifested as persistent erythema (354 cases, 59.7%), papulopustules (344 cases, 58.0%), and telangiectasia (282 cases, 47.6%). Involvement of the cheeks was more common in the patients from southern China (160 cases, 78.0%) than in those from northern China (269 cases, 69.3%), but the nose and eyes were less involved in the patients from southern China than in those from northern China (nose: 125 cases [61.0%] vs. 268 cases [69.1%]; eyes: 3 cases [1.5%] vs. 23 cases [5.9%]; both P < 0.05). The prevalence of transient erythema and papulopustules was significantly higher in the patients from southern China (38.0% and 65.4%, respectively) than in those from northern China (20.9% and 54.1% respectively, both P < 0.05), while the patients from northern China more frequently presented with persistent erythema compared with those from southern China (64.9% vs. 49.8%, P < 0.05). The disease duration ( M [ Q1, Q3]) was 12 (4, 30) months among the patients with rosacea, and the time from the onset to diagnosis was 10 (3, 24) months. The disease duration was significantly longer (12 [4, 36] months), and the proportion of patients with disease duration > 5 years was significantly higher (16.4% [63 cases]) in the patients from northern China than in those from southern China (12 [3, 24] months, 9.4% [19 cases], respectively; both P < 0.05). The patients with varied subtypes and severity of rosacea were previously mainly treated with topical antimicrobial agents (71.9%) ; 72.7% of the patients with mild rosacea were treated with systemic drugs; poor patient compliance was observed, and only 40.6% of the patients completed more than 4 consecutive weeks of treatment at a time. Conclusions:Rosacea usually occurred in young and middle-aged people in China, mostly involved the cheeks and nose, and mainly manifested as erythema or papulopustules. Delayed diagnosis, non-standard treatment and poor patient compliance existed in clinical practice.

Chinese Journal of Blood Transfusion 2024;37(5):602-606
There has been a growing amount of evidence that a balanced blood component transfusion with roughly equal ratio of units of packed red blood cells, fresh frozen plasma, and platelets leads to better outcomes in massive transfusion re-suscitation of trauma victims. Therefore, the great interest of massive transfusion protocol(MTP)with whole blood was a-roused.Low titer group O whole blood(LTOWB)is implemented in routine use for civilian prehospital ambulance services in large trauma centers of most European and American countries nowadays. There is a growing body of evidence to date to support that early use of LTOWB in patients with life-threatening bleeding improve their survival. In view of the current situ-ation of whole blood supply in our country, most trauma resuscitation guidelines still recommend balanced component trans-fusion for MTPs in the early stage of resuscitation. The research and application of LTOWB abroad will be introduced in this article.

Objective:To analyze the clinical manifestations, imaging characteristics, treatment measures, and efficacy of mitral valve aneurysm(MVA),and to enhance the clinicians'understandings of MVA.Methods:The clinical data of one patient with aortic valve bicuspid malformation leading to mitral valve anterior leaflet aneurysm were collected. The clinical diagnosis was confirmed based on the clinical characteristics and imaging features, the treatment methods were selected, and the efficacy was analyzed. The relevant literatures were reviewed. Results:The patient,a 68-year-old female, was admitted due to palpitations and shortness of breath for 13 years, and the symptoms worsened one month ago.Thirteen years ago,the patient experienced palpitations and shortness of breath without any inducement and was diagnosed with"heart valve disease"in the local hospital. The symptoms worsened one month ago, leading to hospitalization. The transthoracic two-dimensional echocardiography(TTE)results showed the left ventricular hypertrophy, bicuspid aortic valve with thickened and echogenic leaflets, the forward flow velocity was increased, and the aortic valve orifice area was 2.0 cm2;the mitral valve anterior leaflet margin was slightly thickened and echogenic, presenting a cystic"honeycomb-like"structure closely related to the aortic valve regurgitation jet, which appeared to enter the"sac".The preoperative transesophageal echocardiography(TEE)results showed the bicuspid aortic valve malformation with the anterior leaflet prolapsing into the left ventricular outflow tract during diastole;a"sac-like"structure was detected on the atrial surface of the mitral valve anterior leaflet, changing shape with the cardiac cycle and communicating with left ventricular blood flow. The ultrasound diagnosis was bicuspid aortic valve malformation with transverse fissure, severe regurgitation with mild stenosis, and mitral valve anterior leaflet aneurysm.Intraoperatively, the aortic valve annulus was enlarged with the significant leaflet regurgitation. The leaflets were excised, and a 23 mm bioprosthetic valve was implanted in the aortic position.Upon exploration through the aortic valve orifice,a"sac-like"structure was found on the mitral valve anterior leaflet, which was not specially treated. The postoperative TEE results showed good echo and activity of the aortic bioprosthetic valve, and the"sac-like"structure on the mitral valve remained unchanged. The follow-up results at 10 d and 4 months after operation showed good echo and activity of the aortic bioprosthetic valve, and compared with before operation, there was no significant change in the nature and size of the mitral valve cystic lesion. Conclusion:MVA is clinically rare.TTE is currently the most valuable imaging diagnostic method for MVA,especially when combined with TEE,which is the best diagnostic method and can assist in the treatment and efficacy evaluation.

Objective:To explore the impact of parenting style on social anxiety among college students, and examine the mediating effect of core self-evaluation.Methods:From November 2022 to January 2023, a total of 1 126 college students in Harbin were taken as research subjects.Interaction anxiousness scale(IAS), short-egna minnen betraffende upfostran-Chinese(s-EMBU-C) and core self-evaluations scale(CSES) were used for analysis. Data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 software for correlation analysis and analysis of variance.AMOS 27.0 software was used for mediation effect test. Results:Social anxiety (42.31±8.23) was negatively correlated with positive parenting style (5.44±1.45) ( r=-0.072, P<0.05) and core self-evaluation (32.12±6.01) ( r=-0.350, P<0.01), while positively correlated with negative parenting style (7.40±1.74)( r=0.302, P<0.01). Core self-evaluation was positively correlated with positive parenting style ( r=0.362, P<0.01) and negatively correlated with negative parenting style ( r=-0.346, P<0.01).Parent parenting styles had a significant mean direct effect on social anxiety of college students ( βpositive=0.098, βnegtive=0.222).Mediation analyses indicated that core self-evaluation played a masking role between positive parenting styles and social anxiety, with an absolute value of 90.82% for the ratio of indirect(-0.089) to direct effects(0.098).Core self-evaluation had partial mediating effect on negative parenting styles, with direct effect and indirect effect accounting for 73.03% and 26.97% of the total effect, respectively. Conclusion:Parenting style can either directly affect college students' social anxiety or indirectly through the mediating effect of core self-evaluations, with core self-evaluations playing a masking role in the positive parenting styles pathway.
