Objective: To explore the correlation of balance ability with short term memory and executive function among college students, so as to provide a theoretical basis for balance training and cognitive enhancement in college students. Methods: In November 2024, 80 college students were recruited from Chongqing Normal University. The dynamic and static balance abilities were measured using the Y-balance test(YBT) and PhysioSensing equipment. Short term memory and executive function were assessed through the digital span test, trail making test(TMT) and Stroop colour-word task. Pearson or Spearman analysis was used to explore the correlation between balance ability and cognitive function among college students. Results: The comprehensive scores of the balance YBT for college students were as follows: left side (95.14±5.93)% and right side (95.17±5.24)%.The average sway velocity of static balance under the conditions of stable surface with eyes open, stable surface with eyes closed, unstable surface with eyes open and unstable surface with eyes closed were 27.58(20.45, 37.64), 23.56(17.57, 34.77), 61.15(40.73, 78.05), 55.88 (40.84, 66.65)mm/s. The comprehensive scores of the YBT for both lower limbs in college students were negatively correlated with the time taken for TMT Part A (TMT-A), TMT Part B (TMT-B), and the difference in time spent between TMT-A and TMT-B (TMT-D) ( r =-0.55 to -0.24，all P <0.05). The average sway velocity under the four conditions was positively correlated with TMT-A, TMT-B, TMT-D, consistent reaction time, conflict reaction time and reaction time difference ( r =0.26-0.69，all P < 0.05). Under conditions of normal vestibular sensation with proprioception interference, the visual contribution in college students was negatively correlated with TMT-A, TMT-B, conflict reaction time and reaction time difference ( r =-0.28 to -0.22,all P < 0.05 ). Under conditions of normal vision and vestibular sensation, the proprioception contribution in college students was positively correlated with TMT-A, TMT-B, consistent reaction time, conflict reaction time and reaction time difference( r =0.26-0.39,all P < 0.05). Under conditions of normal vestibular sensation with visual interference, the proprioception contribution in college students was positively correlated with consistent reaction time and conflict reaction time ( r =0.24, 0.25,both P <0.05). Conclusions There is a correlation between balance ability and executive function in college students. When maintaining static balance, if the visual or proprioceptive system is interfered with, college students with poorer executive function rely more on other systems for compensation.

Diabetic kidney disease（DKD） is a chronic kidney structural and functional disorder caused by diabetes. With the global prevalence of diabetes continuing to rise， DKD has gradually become a major cause of chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease（ESRD）， posing a serious threat to patients' quality of life and long-term health outcomes. Studies have shown that apoptosis plays a pivotal role in the development and progression of DKD， with its mechanisms involving abnormal activation of multiple signaling pathways such as Toll-like receptor 4（TLR4）/nuclear transcription factor-κB（NF-κB）/B-cell lymphoma-2（Bcl-2）/cysteinyl aspartate-specific proteinase（Caspase）-3， protein kinase R-like endoplasmic reticulum kinase（PERK）/eukaryotic initiation factor 2α（eIF2α）/activating transcript factor 4（ATF4）/CCAAT enhancer-binding protein homologous protein（CHOP）， phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase（PI3K）/protein kinase B（Akt）/glycogen synthase kinase-3β（GSK-3β）， Janus kinase 2（JAK2）/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3（STAT3）， adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase（AMPK）/mammalian target of rapamycin（mTOR） and silent information regulator 1（SIRT1）/tumor suppressor protein 53（p53）， thereby accelerating renal pathological damage in DKD. Extensive evidence-based medical studies have confirmed that traditional Chinese medicine（TCM）， leveraging its unique therapeutic advantages of multi-target， multi-component and multi-pathway approaches， has demonstrated remarkable efficacy and favorable safety profiles in treating DKD. Recent studies have demonstrated that active components of TCM can specifically target and modulate key effectors in apoptotic signaling pathways. Meanwhile， traditional compound formulations exert synergistic effects through multiple approaches such as replenishing deficiency and activating blood circulation， detoxifying and dredging collaterals， tonifying kidney essence， and removing stasis and purging turbidity， thereby comprehensively regulating critical pathological processes including endoplasmic reticulum stress and mitochondrial apoptosis pathways. This combined therapeutic approach of molecular targeting and holistic regulation provides novel strategies for delaying the progression of DKD. Based on this， this paper provides an in-depth analysis of key apoptotic signaling pathways and their regulatory mechanisms， while systematically summarizing recent research advances regarding the therapeutic effects of TCM active components， compound formulations， and proprietary Chinese medicines on DKD through modulation of these pathways， with particular emphasis on their underlying molecular mechanisms. These findings not only elucidate the modern scientific connotation and theoretical basis of TCM in treating DKD but also establish a solid theoretical and practical foundation for promoting the wider clinical application and further research of TCM in the field of DKD treatment.

[摘 要] 目的：探究重楼皂苷Ⅱ（PPⅡ）抑制甲状腺癌（TC）恶性生物学行为的分子机制。方法：常规培养甲状腺癌细胞TPC1，实验分为sh-NC、sh-可溶性半乳糖凝集素3（sh-LGALS3）、OE-NC、OE-LGALS3和 OE-LGALS3 + PPⅡ组，用转染试剂将应用质粒转染至各组TPC1细胞中。qPCR法检测TPC1细胞中LGALS3 mRNA的表达，WB法检测各组TPC1细胞中LGALS3、PI3K/AKT信号通路相关蛋白的表达，CCK-8法、Transwell实验、划痕愈合实验和流式细胞术分别检测各组TPC1细胞增殖、迁移和侵袭能力，以及细胞凋亡情况。结果：PPⅡ抑制TPC1细胞的增殖、迁移和侵袭，并诱导其凋亡（均P < 0.000 1）。数据库数据分析显示LGALS3在甲状腺癌组织中高表达（P < 0.001）且是PPⅡ的靶基因。LGALS1在TPC1细胞中呈高表达（P < 0.000 1），敲减LGALS3抑制TPC1细胞的恶性生物学行为，并促进其凋亡（均P < 0.000 1），PPⅡ通过抑制LGALS3 mRNA和蛋白的表达（P < 0.01或P < 0.001）从而抑制TPC1细胞的恶性生物学行为（P < 0.01或P < 0.000 1），PPⅡ抑制LGALS3表达抑制PI3K/AKT信号通路的激活水平（P <0.001或P <0.000 1），LGALS3通过PI3K/AKT信号通路促进TPC1细胞的恶性生物行为（P < 0.000 1）。结论：PPⅡ通过抑制TPC1细胞中LGALS3的表达，缓解PI3K/AKT信号通路的过度激活从而发挥抑癌作用。

ObjectiveTo investigate the mechanism by which Luoshi Neiyi prescription treats endometriosis （EMs） through the Toll-like receptor 4 （TLR4）/nuclear factor-κB （NF-κB） signaling pathway. MethodsAnimal experiments were conducted with 50 female SD rats， which were randomized into a sham operation group （10 rats） and a modeling group （40 rats）. An autologous endometrial transplantation method was used for the modeling of EMs. The 36 successfully modeled rats were randomly allocated into four groups （n=9 each）： The model group， the low-dose （7.87 g·kg^-1） Luoshi Neiyi prescription group， the high-dose （15.74 g·kg^-1） Luoshi Neiyi prescription group， and the dienogest （0.20 mg·kg^-1） group. The physiological status and ectopic lesion volumes of rats in each group were observed. Hematoxylin-eosin （HE） staining was used to observe the morphology of the eutopic endometrial tissue. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay （ELISA） was employed to measure the levels of inflammatory factors including interleukin-1β （IL-1β） and prostaglandin E₂ （PGE₂） in the serum of EMs rats. Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 （MMP-9） and vascular endothelial growth factor A （VEGFA） in the eutopic endometrial tissue. Western blot was adopted to determine the protein levels of TLR4， myeloid differentiation factor 88 （MyD88）， phosphorylated nuclear factor-κB （p-NF-κB）/NF-κB， MMP-9， and VEGFA in the eutopic endometrial tissue. In the cell experiments， the cell-counting kit-8 （CCK-8） assay was employed to screen the optimal concentration of Luoshi Neiyi prescription-containing serum， and a scratch assay was performed to assess the migration ability of iheESCs cells. Interventions with Luoshi Neiyi prescription-containing serum， resatorvid （TAK-242， a TLR4 inhibitor）， and lipopolysaccharides （LPS， a TLR4 agonist） were conducted， and Western blot was used to detect the expression of proteins related to the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway. ResultsThis experiment successfully replicated 36 EMs rat models. Compared with the sham operation group， the model group exhibited visible ectopic lesions on the abdominal wall and an increase in the writhing response score （P<0.01）. Furthermore， HE staining revealed the model group exhibited a thickened eutopic epithelium， stromal cell disarrangement， and evident infiltration of inflammatory cells. In addition， the model group showed elevated serum levels of IL-1β and PGE₂ （P<0.05， P<0.01）， increased positive expression of MMP-9 and VEGFA in the ectopic endometrial tissue （P<0.01）， and up-regulated protein levels of TLR4， MyD88， p-NF-κB/NF-κB， MMP-9， and VEGFA in the ectopic endometrial tissue （P<0.05， P<0.01）. Compared with the model group， all treatment groups exhibited a reduction in the ectopic lesion volume （P<0.01）. Furthermore， the writhing response scores were decreased in the high-dose Luoshi Neiyi prescription group and the dienogest group （P<0.05， P<0.01）. The pathological state of the ectopic endometrial tissue was alleviated to varying degrees in the treatment groups. Low-dose Luoshi Neiyi prescription reduced serum PGE₂ levels， and high-dose Luoshi Neiyi prescription and dienogest decreased serum IL-1β and PGE₂ levels in EMs rats （P<0.05， P<0.01）. The treatment groups showed decreased positive expression of MMP-9 and VEGFA in the ectopic endometrial tissue （P<0.05， P<0.01） and down-regulated protein levels of TLR4， MyD88， p-NF-κB/NF-κB， MMP-9， and VEGFA in the ectopic endometrial tissue （P<0.05， P<0.01）. The cell experiments showed that 5%， 10%， and 20% Luoshi Neiyi prescription-containing sera significantly reduced the viability and inhibited the migration of iheESCs. Compared with the control group， 5%， 10%， and 20% Luoshi Neiyi prescription-containing serum groups and the TAK-242 group showed reduced protein levels of TLR4， MyD88， p-NF-κB/NF-κB， MMP-9， and VEGFA （P<0.01）. Compared with the control group， the LPS group showed increased expression of the above proteins （P<0.01）. Compared with the LPS group， the LPS+5%， 10%， and 20% Luoshi Neiyi prescription-containing serum groups showed reduced expression of the above proteins （P<0.05， P<0.01）. ConclusionLuoshi Neiyi prescription may modulate the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway to reduce the inflammatory response and histopathological damage in the eutopic endometrium and suppress the adhesive， invasive， and angiogenic biological processes in the ectopic endometrial tissue， thereby exerting its therapeutic effect on EMs.

This study aimed to explore the effects and mechanisms of total extracts from Anthriscus sylvestris on pulmonary hypertension in rats. Sixty male SD rats were divided into normal(NC) group, model(M) group, positive drug sildenafil(Y) group, low-dose A. sylvestris(ES-L) group, medium-dose A. sylvestris(ES-M) group, and high-dose A. sylvestris(ES-H) group. On day 1, rats were intraperitoneally injected with monocrotaline(60 mg·kg~(-1)) to induce pulmonary hypertension, and the rat model was established on day 28. From days 15 to 28, intragastric administration of the respective treatments was performed. After modeling and treatment, small animal echocardiography was used to detect the right heart function of the rats. Arterial blood gas was measured using a blood gas analyzer. Hematoxylin and eosin(HE) staining and Masson staining were performed to observe cardiopulmonary pathological damage. Flow cytometry was used to detect apoptosis in the lung and myocardial tissues and reactive oxygen species(ROS) levels. Western blot was applied to detect the expression levels of transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1), phosphorylated mothers against decapentaplegic homolog 3(p-Smad3), Smad3, tissue plasminogen activator(t-PA), and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1(PAI-1) in lung tissue. A blood routine analyzer was used to measure inflammatory immune cell levels in the blood. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) was used to detect the expression levels of P-selectin and thromboxane A2(TXA2) in plasma. The results showed that, compared with the NC group, right heart hypertrophy index, right ventricular free wall thickness, right heart internal diameter, partial carbon dioxide pressure(PaCO_2), apoptosis in cardiopulmonary tissue, and ROS levels were significantly increased in the M group. In contrast, the ratio of pulmonary blood flow acceleration time(PAT)/ejection time(PET), right cardiac output, change rate of right ventricular systolic area, systolic displacement of the tricuspid ring, oxygen partial pressure(PaO_2), and blood oxygen saturation(SaO_2) were significantly decreased in the M group. After administration of the total extract of A. sylvestris, right heart function and blood gas levels were significantly improved, while apoptosis in cardiopulmonary tissue and ROS levels significantly decreased. Further testing revealed that the total extract of A. sylvestris significantly decreased the levels of interleukin-1β(IL-1β), interleukin-6(IL-6), and PAI-1 proteins in lung tissue, while increasing the expression of t-PA. Additionally, the extract reduced the levels of inflammatory cells such as leukocytes, lymphocytes, granulocytes, and monocytes in the blood, as well as the levels of P-selectin and TXA2 in plasma. Metabolomics results showed that the total extract of A. sylvestris significantly affected metabolic pathways, including arginine biosynthesis, tyrosine metabolism, and taurine and hypotaurine metabolism. In conclusion, the total extract of A. sylvestris may exert an anti-pulmonary hypertension effect by inhibiting the TGF-β1/Smad3 signaling pathway, thereby alleviating immune-inflammatory responses and thrombosis.

BACKGROUND: Recent studies have provided compelling evidence that exposure to brominated flame retardants (BFRs) can adversely affect human health. We aim to explore the potential impact of BFRs on adiposity and central obesity. METHODS: Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES) cycles conducted between 2009 and 2014 was used to study the connections between variables. After filtering, we analyzed a sample of 4,110 adults aged 20 years and above. Our goal was to examine the potential association between BFRs and consequences and investigate the part played by oxidative stress and inflammatory markers as intermediaries. To achieve this, we used advanced statistical methods such as weighted quantile sum (WQS) regression, quantile-based g-computation (QGC), and the Bayesian kernel machine regression (BKMR). RESULTS: The findings showed that among the examined chemicals, exposure to PBDE85 (weight: 41%), PBDE100 (24%), and PBB153 (23%) may be the dominant contributors to general obesity risk. Upon controlling for all variables that could impact the results, it was found that the QGC outcomes indicated a positive correlation between exposure to mixtures of brominated flame retardants and the occurrence of abdominal obesity (OR = 1.187, 95% CI: 1.056-1.334, p = 0.004). Significant contributions were made by PBDE85 (52%), PBB153 (27%), and PBDE100 (21%). Mediation analysis shows that lymphatic cells (LC) and albumin (ALB) partially mediate the link between brominated flame retardants and obesity. The results of BKMR are generally consistent with those of WQS and QGC. CONCLUSION At a population level, our research has revealed a noteworthy correlation between BFRs and obesity. However, further investigation is required through prospective cohort studies and in-depth mechanistic exploratory studies.

ObjectiveThis study aims to investigate the therapeutic effects of Wenweishu granule （WWSG） on functional dyspepsia （FD） with spleen-stomach deficiency cold syndrome in rats by integrating network pharmacology， molecular docking， and animal experiments. MethodsActive components and corresponding targets of WWSG were collected from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform （TCMSP） and the Bioinformatics Analysis Tool for Molecular Mechanism of Traditional Chinese Medicine （BATMAN-TCM）. Disease-related targets for FD with spleen-stomach deficiency cold syndrome were screened using GeneCards and the Integrative Pharmacology-based Research Platform of Traditional Chinese Medicine （TCMIP）. Core therapeutic targets were identified via Cytoscape and validated by molecular docking. A rat model of FD with spleen-stomach deficiency cold syndrome was established using vinegar gavage combined with tail-clamping. The rats were randomly divided into a model group， low-， medium-， and high-dose WWSG groups （2.0， 4.0， 8.0 g·kg^-1）， a domperidone group （3.0 mg·kg^-1）， a Fuzi Lizhong pillwan （0.8 g·kg^-1）， and a normal control group （n=10 per group）. Drugs were administered once daily by gavage for 14 consecutive days. After treatment， body weight， symptom scores， and gastrointestinal motility indices were recorded. Gastric and duodenal pathologies changes were observed via hematoxylin-eosin （HE） staining. Brain-gut peptides were measured in serum and tissue using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay （ELISA）. Immunohistochemistry and Western blot were performed to assess stem cell factor （SCF） and receptor tyrosine kinase （c-Kit） protein expression in gastric tissues. ResultsA total of 305 drug targets， 1 140 disease targets， and 116 overlapping targets were identified. Cytoscape analysis revealed 104 core targets. Enrichment analysis indicated that the SCF/c-Kit signaling pathway was the key mechanism. Molecular docking confirmed a strong binding affinity between active components of WWSG and SCF/c-Kit proteins （binding energy<-5.1 kcal·mol^-1）. Compared with the normal group， model rats exhibited slower weight gain （P<0.05）， reduced gastric emptying and intestinal propulsion （P<0.01）， mild gastric mucosal shedding， duodenal inflammatory cell infiltration， decreased levels of gastrin （GAS）， 5-hydroxytryptamine （5-HT）， and vasoactive intestinal peptide （VIP） （P<0.05， P<0.01）， and elevated somatostatin （SS） expression （P<0.05， P<0.01）. WWSG treatment ameliorated weight gain， symptom scores， and low-grade inflammation in gastric/duodenal tissues. High-dose WWSG significantly improved gastric emptying and intestinal propulsion， upregulated GAS， 5-HT， and VIP， and downregulated SS expression in serum and tissues （P<0.05， P<0.01）. Immunohistochemistry and Western blot demonstrated that SCF and c-Kit protein expression was decreased in the model group （P<0.05， P<0.01）， which was reversed by WWSG intervention （P<0.05）. ConclusionWWSG exerts therapeutic effects on FD with spleen-stomach deficiency cold syndrome in rats， potentially by regulating the SCF/c-Kit signaling pathway to enhance gastrointestinal motility.

Objective: To analyze the relationship between 24 h movement behaviors and cognitive function in children and adolescents, as well as the isotemporal substitution benefits, in order to provide a basis for developing cognitive development intervention strategies among children and adolescents. Methods: Relevant studies were searched in the Web of Science, PubMed, Embase, EBSCO, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases from their inception to November 30, 2024. Systematic evaluation was performed after document screening, data extraction and quality assessment. Results: A total of 24 highquality studies were included, comprising 35 295 children and adolescents aged 3-18 years. Adhering to the 24 h activity guidelines was associated with better cognitive performance (19 studies). Additionally, substituting 5-30 minutes per day of moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA) or sleep (SLP) for sedentary behavior (SB) or light physical activity (LPA) were associated with improvements in cognitive function (7 studies). There were inconsistencies in the effects of different types of SB (learning or entertainment) on cognitive function. Conclusions Adherence to the 24 h activity guidelines supports cognitive development in children and adolescents, with MVPA and SLP as key intervention targets. Increasing the proportion of MVPA, ensuring adequate SLP, and limiting recreational SB and screen time might be helpful to enhance the combined benefits of these three behaviors.
