BACKGROUND: Lung cancer is a disease with a high incidence rate in Yunnan province, yet there is a paucity of large-scale studies on its clinical epidemiology. This research aims to investigate the epidemiological characteristics of patients who underwent lung cancer surgery at Yunnan Cancer Hospital over the past decade, thereby providing a theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of lung cancer. METHODS: Clinical data were collected from 15,967 patients who underwent lung cancer surgery at Yunnan Cancer Hospital between 2013 and 2022. A statistical analysis was conducted on the patients' general data, surgical information, pathological types of lung cancer, and other clinical epidemiological characteristics. RESULTS: Among the 15,967 cases of lung cancer, 46.3% were male and 53.7% were female, with the male-to-female ratio ranging from 0.68 to 1.61:1. The median age was 56 years (interquartile range: 49-63), and 37.0% of the patients were in the age group of 50-59 years. Since 2017, there has been an annual increase in the proportion of patients under the age of 60 years. The smoking status of the patients showed that 28.1% were smokers and 71.9% were non-smokers. Qujing city accounted for 41.4% and Kunming city for 23.2% of the cases in Yunnan province, with 29.6% of patients originating from Xuanwei and Fuyuan areas of Qujing city. The distribution of affected lung lobes was as follows: right upper lobe 28.2%, right middle lobe 6.3%, right lower lobe 20.1%, left upper lobe 22.7%, and left lower lobe 16.4%. The use of thoracoscopic surgery increased from 30.8% to 96.3%, with single-port thoracoscopic surgery comprising 61.3%. Lobectomy was performed in 64.2% of cases, wedge resection in 17.2%, and segmentectomy in 12.2%. The proportion of lobectomy decreased from 83.1% to 46.1%. The proportion of patients in stages 0-I increased from 43.5% to 82.8%, while stages II-IV decreased from 56.5% to 17.2%. Adenocarcinoma increased from 75.6% to 88.3%, and squamous cell carcinoma decreased from 21.5% to 8.6%. Among adenocarcinoma patients, 60.9% were female. Among sguamous cell carcinoma patients, 90.6% were male. The peak age for adenocarcinoma was 50-59 years, and for squamous cell carcinoma, it was 60-69 years. The smoking rate was higher among squamous cell carcinoma patients (65.9%) compared to adenocarcinoma patients (22.3%). Adenocarcinoma patients had a higher proportion in stages 0-I (76.3%), while squamous cell carcinoma patients were more prevalent in stages II-III (64.1%). CONCLUSIONS The findings indicate an increasing proportion of female patients with adenocarcinoma, a younger age of onset, a higher proportion of non-smoking lung cancer patients, and an increased proportion of stages 0-I lung cancer. These trends may reflect the epidemiological characteristics of patients undergoing lung cancer surgery in Yunnan and surrounding areas over the past decade.

Objective: To investigate the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of 91 cases of dengue fever outbreak in Jiangxi Province in 2019, and to strengthen the management and prevention of dengue fever. Methods: The clinical data, laboratory results and etiology tests of 91 patients with dengue fever from the Ninth Hospital of Nanchang, Zhangshu People′s Hospital, Fengcheng People′s Hospital and Nanchang County People′s Hospital from July 31, 2019 to September 27, 2019 were retrospectively collected. The t test was used for continuous variables and chi-square test was used for categorical variables. Results: A total of 91 dengue fever patients were reviewed. The patients age ranged from 4 to 87 years old, and the majority were adult patients. Most patients were farmers and they all had mosquito-biting history. Local cases were the major source of this outbreak. The incubation time was (5.19±2.96) days. All patients had fever over 38 ℃. Thirty-eight (41.8%) patients developed rashes, mainly distributed on the limbs and trunk, and 15 patients (16.5%) developed myalgia and fatigue. The incidence of rashes in patients admitted in September was 15.9% (7/44), which was significantly lower than 68.1% (32/47) in July and August (χ²=25.262, P<0.01). The incidence of headache in patients admitted in September was 27.3%(12/44), which was significantly lower than 78.7% (37/47) in July and August (χ² =24.206, P<0.01). Among the 91 patients, 64 (70.3%) patients had white blood cell counts less than 4×10⁹/L, 14(15.4%) patients had platelet counts less than 50×10⁹/L. The positive rate of dengue non-structural protein 1 (NS1) antigen was 100.0%(37/37), the positive rates of dengue antibody IgM and IgG were 50.0%(11/22) and 13.6%(3/22), respectively. Among the 113 serum samples tested for dengue virus RNA, 106 were identified with dengue virus type-1 and two were dengue virus type-2. In 22 patients who received tests within 7 days, the positive rate of NS1 antigen was 100.0% (22/22), the IgM and IgG positive rates were 50.0%(11/22) and 13.6% (3/22), respectively, and 19 patients were infected with dengue type-1. Among the IgM antibody positive cases, the onset days before sampling was (5.09±1.64) days, longer than that of IgM antibody negative cases ((2.82±1.83) days), with statistical significance (t=3.063, P=0.007). The onset time before sampling in dengue virus RNA-positive group was (3.53±1.87) days, which was shorter than that of RNA-negative group ((6.67±0.58) days), and the difference was statistically significant (t=2.839, P=0.013). Conclusions The dengue fever outbreak cases in Jiangxi Province in 2019 have typical clinical manifestations of dengue fever. Using the NS1 antigen test, IgM and IgG antibody tests and real-time fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction for dengue virus genotyping during early onset of the disease can assistant clinicians in clinical management, controlling infectious source and stopping disease transmission.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the relationship between miR-501-5p expression and the clinicopathological factors in patients with lung adenocarcinoma in Xuanwei area.

METHODSSurgical specimens of lung adenocarcinoma and paired adjacent tissues from 24 patients with lung adenocarcinoma from Xuanwei area were examined for miR-501-5p expression using microRNA microarray technique and qPCR. Chi-square test was used to analyze the association of miR-501-5P expression with the clinicopathological characteristics of the patients. Multiple regression analysis was performed to analyze the association of miR-501-5p expression with the patients' gender, age, tumor stage, and preoperative CEA level.

RESULTSMicroRNA microarray analysis and qPCR validation results revealed significantly upregulated expressions of miR-501-5p in patients with lung adenocarcinoma from Xuanwei area (Plt;0.01). The microarray data showed an up-regulation of miR-501-5p by 3.17 folds in lung adenocarcinoma tissue compared with the adjacent tissue (P=0.22376, FDR=0.071395). Chi-square test indicated that miR-501-5p expression level was associated with the patients' age (f=7.168, P=0.014), TNM stage (f=36.627, P<0.01), and preoperative serum CEA level (f=30.045, Plt;0.01), but not with the patients' gender (f=3.612, P=0.071). Multiple regression analysis revealed that miR-501-5p expression was positively correlated with the patients' age, TNM stage of the tumor, and serum CEA (Plt;0.05).

CONCLUSIONmiR-501-5p expression is up-regulated in lung adenocarcinoma with significant associations with the patients' age, TNM stages and serum CEA level in patients from Xuanwei area, suggesting its potential role in the tumorigenesis and progression of lung adenocarcinoma in Xuanwei area.

Objective To investigate and analyze the monitoring status of birth defects of perinatal infants in Hakka of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,and to provide evidence for reducing the incidence of birth defects and improving prevention decision for the quality of birth.Methods The data of 51 528 cases of perinatal birth defects monitoring were analyzed in Bobai and Luchuan counties in 2015.Results The distribution of birth defects in the perinatal infants of Hakka was more than 75.14%,28.8% of the birth defects occurred in 28 weeks,51 528 cases of perinatal birth in hospital,birth defects of ≥28 weeks in 384 cases.The incidence rate of birth defects was 28.5%, the rate of birth was 7.45‰.The birth defect of ≥28 weeks was diagnosed,35 cases were fetal edema syndrome, accounted for 9.11%.34 cases were congenital heart disease,accounted for 8.85%,30 cases were cleft lip with cleft palate,accounted for 7.81%.Congenital hydrocephalus in 5 cases,accounted for 1.30%;other in 251 cases,accoun-ted for 65.35%.The diagnosed time distribution of birth defects of ≥28 weeks:prenatal diagnosis accounted for 21.18%,postnatal 7 days accounted for 78.82%.The outcome of ≥28 weeks of perinatal birth defects in Hakka:live birth accounted for 73.18%,fetal death accounted for 20.57%,stillbirth accounted for 1.30%,seven days of death accounted for 4.94%.Conclusion The perinatal birth defects in Hakka is live births to the main,the prevention of perinatal birth defects in children live birth measures should be strengthened,the detection of birth defects should be strengthened and the pregnancy of artificial birth defects should be terminated,so as to improve the quality of the birth population.

Objective To explore the clinical characteristics of and to provide help to the prevention and treatment of malignant chest tumor with nosocomial mixed fungal-bacterial infection.Methods From July 2007 to June 2015,pathogenic bacteria in sputum,blood,urine,chest incision,thoracic and abdominal fluid,and implantable medical biological material were cultivated in 5067 patients with malignant chest tumor suspected with infection.The clinical characteristics,source of specimen and pathogenic bacteria,the types of diseases,medical intervention activities of 142 cases detected with mixed fungal-bacterial infection were retrospectively analyzed.Fesult In 142 patients,104 patients at clinical stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ accounted for 73.2％,and 94 patients used antibiotics more than 14 days (66.2％);104 cases had implanted biological materials (74.7％);96 cases died (67.6％).A total of 167 strains bacteria were isolated.Sixty-one strains of G+ bacteria accounting for 36.5％ were mainly Epidermis staphylococcus and Staphylococcus aureus;106 strains of G-bacteria accounting for 63.5％ were mainly klebsiella pneumonia,Escherichia coli and baumanii;172 strains fungus mainly of Candida albicans were isolated (77.3％).Pathogenic bacteria sources were mainly sputum specimens + pharynx strip,blood culture and medical implant materials.In 72 lung cancer patients,squamous carcinoma and small cell carcinoma were 52.8％ and 33.3％ respectively,higher than adenocarcinoma (12.5％);In 42 esophageal cancer patients,postoperative patients were 42.9％.Parenteral nutrition patients with more than 10 days were 80.9％ higher than that of parenteral nutrition in patients with less than 10 days (19.1％).Conclusion Among malignant chest tumor patients with nosocomial mixed fungal-bacterial infection,the bacteria were found in staphylococcus aureus,klebsiella pneumoniae and E.coli and the fungus was Candida albicans.For clinical stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ,patients with parenteral nutrition for more than 10 days,having history of chemo or radiotherapy,with antimicrobial use for more than 14 days,and with implanted biological materials,should be warned about nosocomial mixed fungal-bacterial infection.

AIM:To establish an effective and rapid method to develop transplanted subcutaneous pancreatic carcinoma by inducing PANC-1 cells into nude mice, and then use this mouse model to evaluate the tumor-homing and gene-silencing effects of siRNA-loading nanoparticles in vivo.METHODS:Different numbers of PANC-1 cells in 100 μL or 300 μL PBS were inoculated subcutaneously into the right flank of BALB /c (nu/nu) mice.When the tumor volume reached 100 mm 3 , siRNACY 5.5 nanoparticles were injected through the mouse tail vein to perform in vivo imaging assay.Be-sides, the mice were randomly divided into 3 treatment groups treated with PBS, scrambled control RNA nanoparticles and siKras nanoparticles, respectively.The protein expression of Kras was detected by Western blotting and immunohistochemi-cal staining.RESULTS:After inoculated with 1 ×10 7 PANC-1 cells in 300 μL PBS, all mice developed tumors within 2 weeks.The in vivo results showed that siRNA-loading nanoparticles accumulated in the tumor tissues and exerted gene si-lencing effect.CONCLUSION:In the present study, an effective and rapid method was established for PANC-1 cells to induce transplanted subcutaneous pancreatic carcinoma in nude mice within 2 weeks, which is suitable for in vivo imaging and treatment evaluations as a reproducible and reliable way for the further experiments .

During July to November in 2007, several outbreaks of Hemangiomas in Hy-line Brown laying hens were observed in China. The virus that infected these flocks was identified in cultured DF-1 cells by PCR and indirect fluorescent assay (IFA) with ALV-J specific monoclonal antibody JE-9. The gp85 gene of one strain named WS0705 of ALV-J was cloned and expressed. Phylogenetic analysis showed that gp85 amino sequences of WS0705 strain had the highest homology with that of the prototype HPRS-103. The gp85 gene from a constructed plasmid pMD18-T-WS0705gp85 was cloned into baculovirus transfer vector. rBac-WS0705gp85 was obtained by the Bac-to-Bac baculovirus expression system. The rBac-WS0705gp85 protein was analyzed by indirect immunofluor escence assay and Western blot. The results showed that positive green fluorescent was present in Sf9 cells infected with the recombinant virus and a 35 kD band was present in western blot. It is concluded that WS0705 gp85 gene was expressed in Sf9 cells infected with the recombinant virus and the SU protein of WS0705 can bind specifically to JE9 MAb of ALV-J. The expressed protein can be used to detect hemangiomas induced by ALV-J.

OBJECTIVETo study pharmacokinetic parameters and absolute bioavailability for oral use of sinomenine tablet in beagle dogs.

METHODApplying to double cycle self crossover design, a single oral or intravenous dose of 10 mg x kg(-1) sinomenine was given to 10 beagle dogs. Drug concentrations in plasma were determined by HPLC. The pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated by 3P97 pharmacokinetic program.

RESULTThe concentration-time curves of oral administration fitted to one compartment model in the beagle dogs. The T(max), C(max), t1/2 and AUC(0-T) was (82.5 +/- 13.9) min, (0.15 +/- 0.027) mg x L(-1), (87.6 +/- 28.3) min and (28.43 +/- 3.48) mg x min x L(-1), respectively. The concentration -time curves of i.v. fitted to two compartment model in the beagle dogs. The t1/2beta and AUC(0-T) was (106.7 +/- 120.2) min and (93.32 +/- 82.08) mg x min x L(-1). The absolute bioavailability for oral use was (30.46 +/- 4.24)%.

CONCLUSIONThe absolute bioavailability of sinomenine is low, and the elimination of sinomenine tablet is fast.

Objective To investigate the effects and outcomes of four procedures for hysterectomy. Method Retrospectively, we analyzed the clinical characteristics of 756 cases who respectively received hysterectomy by total abdominohysterectomy (TAH,260 cases), modified abdominohysterectomy (MAH, 180 cases), transvaginal hysterectomy (TVH, 106 cases), or laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH)(210 cases) and compared their effects and outcomes.
