Objective To investigate the correlation between tongue and pulse indicators and the out-come of live birth in patients undergoing frozen-thawed embryo transfer(FET),as well as the association between these indicators and patients'endocrine parameters. Methods This study was conducted at Reproductive Medicine Center,Shuguang Hospital Af-filiated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine,Shanghai,China,from March 8,2021 to January 5,2022.Patients undergoing FET were divided into live birth and non-live birth groups according to their live birth outcome.The differences between the endocrine pa-rameters[basic follicle stimulating hormone(b FSH),basic luteinizing hormone(b LH),basic estradiol(b E2),basic progesterone(b P),basal endometrial thickness,follicle stimulating hormone(FSH)on endometrial transition day,luteinizing hormone(LH)on endometrial transition day,estradiol(E2)on endometrial transition day,progesterone(P)on endometrial transition day,and endometrial thickness on endometrial transition day]and the tongue and pulse indicators[tongue body(TB)-L,TB-a,TB-b,tongue coating(TC)-L,TC-a,TC-b,perAll,perPart,h1,h4,h5,t1,h1/t1,and h4/h1]of patients in the two groups were analyzed,with the correlation between these variables analyzed as well using Spearman's correlation coefficient.Multivariate logistic regression was employed to identify the influential factors in the live birth prediction models across various datasets,including Model 1 consisting of endocrine indica-tors only,Model 2 solely consisting of tongue and pulse indicators,and Model 3 consisting of both tongue,pulse,and endocrine indicators,as well as to evaluate efficacy of the models de-rived from different datasets. Results This study included 78 patients in live birth group and 144 patients in non-live birth group.Compared with non-live birth group,live birth group exhibited higher levels of TB-L(P=0.01)and TB-a(P=0.04),while demonstrated lower levels of b FSH(P=0.01),perAll(P=0.04),and h4/h1(P=0.03).The Spearman's correlation coefficient analysis revealed statisti-cally significant correlation(P<0.05)between TB-L,TB-b,TC-L,TC-b,perAll,perPart,h4,h5,t1,h1/t1 and b FSH,b LH,basal endometrial thickness,LH on endometrial transition day,E2 on endometrial transition day,P on endometrial transition day,and endometrial thickness on endometrial transition day in live birth group.The multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the prediction Model 3 for live birth outcome[area under the curve(AUC):0.917,95%confidence interval(CI):0.863-0.971,P<0.001]surpassed the Model 1(AUC:0.698,95%CI:0.593-0.803,P=0.001),or the Model 2(AUC:0.790,95%CI:0.699-0.880,P<0.001).The regression equations for the live birth outcomes,integrating tongue and pulse indicators with endocrine parameters,included the following measures:FSH on endometrial transition day[odds ratio(OR):0.523,P=0.025],LH on endometrial transition day(OR:1.277,P=0.029),TB-L(OR:2.401,P=0.001),perPart(OR:1.018,P=0.013),h1(OR:0.065,P=0.021),t1(OR:4.354,P=0.024),and h4/h1(OR:0.018,P=0.016). Conclusion In infertility patients undergoing FET,there exists a correlation between tongue and pulse indicators and endocrine parameters.The corporation of tongue and pulse indica-tors significantly improved the predictive capability of the model for live birth outcomes.Specifically,tongue and pulse indicators such as TB-L,perPart,h1,t1,and h4/h1 exhibited a discernible correlation with the ultimate live birth outcomes.

Objective:To analyze the relationship of fractional exhaled nitric oxide(FeNO)levels with eosinophils(EOS), C-reactive protein(CRP), procalcitonin(PCT)levels in elderly patients with asthma-chronic obstructive pulmonary disease overlap(ACO).Methods:A retrospective study was conducted.According to the inclusion criteria, 60 elderly patients with ACO admitted in Fujian Geriatric Hospital from May 2016 to May 2019 were enrolled in the ACO group.During the same period, 60 patients with bronchial asthma were included in the asthma group, 60 patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)were recruited in the COPD group, and 60 people taking health examination were included in the health group.Levels of FeNO, EOS, CRP and PCT were detected and compared between the groups.Correlations of FeNO levels with EOS and inflammatory factors were analyzed by the Spearman correlation.Results:The group with asthma alone showed the highest levels of FeNO, followed by the ACO group, the COPD group and the healthy group( F=970.235, P=0.000). The ACO group had the highest levels of EOS, CRP and PCT, followed by the COPD group, the asthma group and the healthy group( F=103.74, 76.648 and 57.042, P=0.000). Spearman bivariate correlation analysis showed that FeNO levels were positively correlated with levels of EOS, CRP and PCT in the asthma, COPD and ACO groups(the asthma group: r=0.646, 0.326 and 0.497, P=0.000, 0.014 and 0.000; the COPD group: r=0.398, 0.613 and 0.432, P=0.009, 0.000 and 0.001 the ACO group: r=0.654, 0.573 and 0.516, P=0.000, 0.000 and 0.000). Conclusions:High levels of FeNO are found in elderly patients with ACO.Levels of FeNO are positively correlated with EOS, CRP and PCT levels in peripheral blood, and can be used as a sensitive index for airway hyperinflammatory responses.

Objective To explore the correlation between volumetric capnography(VCap)and traditional pulmonary function in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD),so as to assess whether VCap can be used as alternative indicators for the evaluation of COPD severity when some of the elderly COPD patients do not accomplish the traditional pulmonary function tests.Methods 960 patients admitted to Fujian Geriatric Hospital from June 2008 to June 2015 and undergoing pulmonary function tests were included in the study.They were divided into 2 groups of the COPD group(640 cases)and the control group(320 cases).The pulmonary function of COPD group was divided into 4 subgroups(Ⅰ~Ⅳ).All persons received tests of traditional pulmonary function and VCap.The correlations between VCap and traditional pulmonary function indexes and between VCap and COPD severity were observed.Results The differences in Vm25-50/VT,Vm50-75/VT,dC/dV3,SR23 of VCap between the 4 subgroups(COPDⅠ~COPDⅣ)and control group were statistically significant(all P<0.05),while the difference in dC/dV2 of VCap between the 4 subgroups(COPDⅠ~COPDⅣ)and control group was not statistically significant(t=-0.22,-0.43,0.26 and 0.64,all P>0.05).The difference in CO2 max between the COPD Ⅲ group(severe or more severe group)and control group was statistically significant(t=6.91 and 4.65,all P<0.05).The difference in VD-B/VT and VD-F/VT of VCap between the COPD(Ⅱ~Ⅳ)group(from moderate to very severe group)and control group were statistically significant(all P<0.05).CO2 max,VD-B/VT,VD-F/VT,Vm25-50/VT,Vm50-75/VT,dC/dV3,SR23 of VCap showed correlation with traditional pulmonary function.The correlation between dC/dV3 and the seven traditional pulmonary function indexes seen above was statistically significant(|r|>0.555,P<0.05).The specificity of Vm25-50/VT of VCap for the diagnosis of COPD was best,but its sensitivity was poor than other indexes of VCap.The indexes with both high sensitivity and high specificity were Vm50-75/VT and dC/dV3.Conclusions When the patients with COPD manifest the mild airflow limited,Vm25-50/VT,Vm50-75/VT,dC/dV3 and SR23 of VCap are gradually increased with abnormal VCap figures when the illness progressed.The CO2max of VCap might be one of the indexes for assessing the severity of severe or more severe COPD.

Objective To explore the methods and mesures for the pre-analytical quality control of test specimen and to improve the accuracy and reliability of test results.Methods According to the relevant requirements of IS015189,various measures for the specimen circulation process and collection technology two aspects were taken to control the full links of clinical specimen collection and transport,and the incidence of unqualified specimen before and after the improvements were analyzed.Results After the imple-mentation of the improvement measures,the incidence of unqualified specimens was decreased significantly.Conclusion Implemen-tation of the whole aspect of pre-analytical quality control can effectively improve the quality of specimen in order to improve the test quality.

Objective To analyze the efficacy and safety of glimepiride treatment as initial monotherapy in newly diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).Methods This was a subgroup analysis of the GREAT study,which investigated the efficacy and safety of glimepiride as initial monotherapy in Chinese patients with T2DM.This analysis was performed in 209 patients with disease duration less than 6 months and never received any anti-diabetic drugs.The change of HbA1C,fasting plasm glucose (FPG),2 h postprandial blood glucose (2hPPG),homeostasis model assessment for β-cell function index (HOMA-β),homeostasis model assessment for insulin-resistance index(HOMA-IR),the percentage of patients with HbA1C ＜ 7.0％ at endpoint and the incidence of hypoglycemia were evaluated after 16-weeks treatment.Results After 16-weeks glimepiride treatment,HbA1C value reduced significantly from baseline to endpoint,the reduction was statistically significant (9.21％ ± 1.65％ to 6.69％±0.83％,P＜0.001),69.7％ of the patients achieved HbA1C ＜7.0％ at study endpoint.Glimepiride-treated patients also achieved a significant improvement in FPG [from (10.15 ± 2.13) mmol/L to (7.23 ± 1.50) mmol/L,P＜0.001] and 2hPPG [from (17.21 ±4.14) mmol/L to (11.62 ± 3.34) mmol/L].HOMA-β was improved from 17.21± 15.19 [11.62 (2.90,115.8)] to 41.13 ± 44.12 [28.00 (5.1,360.00)],and HOMA-IR was reduced from 2.32± 1.90 [1.76 (0.60,12.80)] to 2.07 ± 1.74 [1.63 (0.4,12.3)].The incidence of all reported symptomatic hypoglycemia was 18.2％,and the incidence of confirmed hypoglycemia was 3.8％.Conclusion This analysis showed that glimepiride treatment as an initial mono-therapy could effectively improve blood glucose control in newly diagnosed patients with T2DM,and the treatment may improve islet β cell function,and the safety profile is reasonably good.

Background Researches have demonstrated that ocular hypertension induces the ischemia-reperfusion of retina and further leads to the degeneration of retinal ganglion cells,but its mechanism is beyond understanding.Objective The present study aims to observe the effects of static pressure on the morphology,proliferation activity and viability of cultured retinal microvascular endothelial cells (RMECs) and evaluate the expression of ET-1 and NO in these cells under variant static pressure.Methods RMECs were isolated from 30 healthy Wistar rats and cultured using explant culture method by Ⅷ factor antibody and PECAM-1 antibody.The static pressure of 1.33kPa,2.67kPa,5.33kPa and 10.67kPa was used in culture bottle respectively.The RMECs without static pressure were used as normal control group.The morphology of RMECs under the different static pressure was observed by inverted phase contrast microscopy,and the number of RMECs was counted using the counting plate.Cellular viability was studied by trypan blue staining.The changes of ET-1 and NO_2~-/NO_3~-,two metabolic products of NO,in the medium were detected by radioimmunoassay and Griess's nitrate reductase method.The expression of ET-1,eNOS and iNOS mRNA in RMECs was analyzed by semi-quantitative RT-PCR 24 hours after treatment of variant static pressure.Results Cultured RMECs sticked well at 24 hours and reached to confluence at 48 hours and showed the red fluorescence for Ⅷ factor antibody and PECAM-1 antibody.Enlargement of nuclei,extenders of cell bodies and suspension of RMECs in medium were observed.The number of RMECs was gradually increased.The cell viability was reduced with the raise of static pressure among these four groups(F=12.205,P＜0.01;F=11.180,P＜0.01).The static pressure increased the content of ET-1 released by RMECs in 2.67kPa,5.33kPa and 10.67kPa of static pressure groups,and concentrations of NO_2~-/NO_3~- in the medium showed a significant increase in 5.33kPa and 10.67kPa of static pressure groups compared with normal and 1.33kPa of static pressure groups(P＜0.01).The expressions of ET-1 mRNA,eNOS mRNA and iNOS mRNA were considerably enhanced in 5.33kPa and 10.67kPa of static pressure groups compared with normal control group(P＜0.01).Conclusion Raised static pressure causes the alteration of RMGCs structure and morphology.Static pressure could upregulate the expressions of ET-1,eNOS and iNOS mRNA in RMECs and increase the release of ET-1 and NO.This pathway might be one of pathologic mechanisms of retinal injury induced by high intraocular pressure.

Objective To investigate the rule of the talar growth and establish a normal radiographic measurement scale of the talus from postnatal infants to adults. Methods Radiographic measurements were performed with the lateral radiographs of right talus in 1*!765 normal cases(age 1 to 18). Results The talar growth velocity was the fastest before two years old.It was consistent with the development of physiques(e.g.height and weight),and then there was not a remarkable increase in the talar growth.At puberty,a temporal sudden increase was not found in the talus.Conclusion Radiographic measurements not only provide a normal contrast for the flats of the talus or the abnormal shapes caused by some congenital or acquired disease,but also was useful to the other subject(e.g.anthropology,forensic science).

To investigate the role of intercellular adhesion molecule 1(ICAM 1) in the pathogenesis of bacterial keratitis,22 rats were randomly divided into bacterial keratitis group and control group. A specific staining of corneal epithelial cells, stromal keratocytes and endothelial cells for ICAM 1 was carried out by using monoclonal antibody to ICAM 1 and immunohistochemical staining techniques.
