Objective:
There were associations between emotional abuse and neglect (EAN) and depression, but few studies had tested potential mechanisms underlying these relationships. We aimed to provide insights on how (the mediation role of neuroticism), and under what conditions (the moderator role of psychological resilience), led to a higher level of depression.
Methods:
This study was a cross-sectional study that used a random cluster sampling method. We randomly selected 3,993 participants from four junior middle schools in northern city of China. Participants were asked to complete four self-reported questionnaires, including the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire, Children Depression Inventory-Short Form, Chinese Big Five Personality Inventory Brief Version, and Chinese Resilience Scale.
Results:
The results showed that neuroticism mediated the associations between EAN and depression. In addition, the mediating effect of neuroticism was moderated by psychological resilience (p<0.05).
Conclusion
EAN and neuroticism could have an adverse impact on depression, and psychological resilience could alleviate these negative effects as a moderator. Our model suggested psychological resilience could be a particularly effective intervention point for victims of EAN.

Neurofibromas are benign peripheral nerve sheath tumors. It is more common in neurofibromatosis type Ⅰ. However, isolated vagal nerve neurofibroma(VNN) of the neck is extremely rare, and only a few case reports have been reported. Its etiology and pathogenesis are not clear. The diagnosis is mainly based on pathological examination and immunohistochemistry, and surgical resection is the main treatment. This study reports a rare case of giant solitary vagus neurofibroma in the neck. The patient was a 29-year-old female who was found to have a mass on the right side of the neck by physical examination, which was considered to be a vagus nerve tumor by neck ultrasound and imaging examination. The tumor was completely removed during the operation, with the size of about 10.0 cm×2.5 cm, and the patient had no special discomfort. Postoperative pathology and immunohistochemistry confirmed neurofibroma. After surgery, the patient had right vocal cord paralysis, hoarseness, choking and paroxysmal cough. After swallowing function training and voice rehabilitation treatment in the department, the patient recovered satisfactorily. There was no complication and recurrence during the follow-up of 1 year. This article reviews the literature to improve the diagnosis and treatment of solitary vagus neurofibroma in the neck by combining its medical history, imaging features, pathology and immunohistochemistry, and surgical treatment.

Temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJ-OA) is a common disease often accompanied by pain, seriously affecting physical and mental health of patients. Abnormal innervation at the osteochondral junction has been considered as a predominant origin of arthralgia, while the specific mechanism mediating pain remains unclear. To investigate the underlying mechanism of TMJ-OA pain, an abnormal joint loading model was used to induce TMJ-OA pain. We found that during the development of TMJ-OA, the increased innervation of sympathetic nerve of subchondral bone precedes that of sensory nerves. Furthermore, these two types of nerves are spatially closely associated. Additionally, it was discovered that activation of sympathetic neural signals promotes osteoarthritic pain in mice, whereas blocking these signals effectively alleviates pain. In vitro experiments also confirmed that norepinephrine released by sympathetic neurons promotes the activation and axonal growth of sensory neurons. Moreover, we also discovered that through releasing norepinephrine, regional sympathetic nerves of subchondral bone were found to regulate growth and activation of local sensory nerves synergistically with other pain regulators. This study identified the role of regional sympathetic nerves in mediating pain in TMJ-OA. It sheds light on a new mechanism of abnormal innervation at the osteochondral junction and the regional crosstalk between peripheral nerves, providing a potential target for treating TMJ-OA pain.

Objective:To analyze the abnormal results of health surveillance for workers exposed to dimethylformamide (DMF), and to provide reference for the formulation of relevant policies and standards. Methods:In April 2024, 11, 224 workers who participated in occupational health examinations in Jiangsu Province in 2023 were selected as the research subjects. Among them, 5, 615 people exposed to DMF were taken as the exposure group, and 5, 609 people not exposed to hepatotoxic chemicals were taken as the control group. By inquiring about related symptoms and combining with the occupational health examination of workers, the abnormal rates of blood pressure, blood routine, urine routine, electrocardiogram, liver function and B-ultrasonography of the survey subjects were statistically analyzed. Results:Compared with the control group, the abnormal detection rates of indicators such as blood pressure, blood routine, urine routine, and electrocardiogram were higher, and the difference was statistically significant P<0.05). The abnormal rates of various liver function indicators in the DMF exposure group were all higher than those in the control group. Among them, the abnormal rates of alanine aminotransferase, total protein, total bilirubin, and liver B-ultrasound in the exposure group were all higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant ( χ2=34.88, 42.49, 43.07, 55.28, P<0.001). Compared with the control group, the detected values of alanine aminotransferase, total protein and total bilirubin in the DMF exposure group were higher, and the difference was statistically significant ( F=5.367, 29.543, 37.766, P<0.05). In the DMF exposure group, the abnormal rates of liver function, electrocardiogram and liver B-ultrasound in men were much higher than those in women, and the differences were statistically significant ( χ2=185.05, 10.06, 141.94, P<0.001, P=0.002, P<0.001). Grouped by length of service, the abnormal detection rate of liver function was similar in each length of service segment, and the difference was not statistically significant ( χ2=0.34, P>0.05). The abnormal detection rate of electrocardiogram increased with the increase of length of service, among which it was the highest in the 10-20 years of service, and the difference was statistically significant ( χ2=7.26, P=0.026). The abnormal rate detected by liver B-ultrasound significantly increased with the increase of working years, and was the highest in the section of ≥20 years of working years. The difference was statistically significant ( χ2=44.15, P<0.001) . Conclusion:Occupational exposure to DMF can affect the health of workers, especially increasing the detection rate of abnormal liver function and liver B-ultrasound. It is very important to strengthen the occupational health monitoring of personnel exposed to DMF, improve the working environment, and pay attention to the chronic liver damage caused by DMF occupational exposure to workers.

Objective:To evaluate the clinical prognostic value of intratumoral metabolic heterogeneity parameters of baseline 18F-FDG PET/CT in primary cutaneous malignant melanoma (CMM). Methods:From October 2015 to July 2023, the clinical data of 35 patients (24 males, 11 females, age (66.6±13.1) years) diagnosed with primary CMM who underwent baseline 18F-FDG PET/CT in Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University Medical School were retrospectively analyzed. Conventional metabolic parameters (SUV max, metabolic tumor volume (MTV), total lesion glycolysis (TLG)) and PET intratumoral metabolic heterogeneity parameters (area under the cumulative SUV histograms curve (AUC-CSH), linear regression slope, SUV max/ SUV mean) were assessed. Using thresholds of 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, and 80% SUV max or thresholds of 40%, 60%, and 80% SUV max to delineate MTV, linear regression was performed, with the slopes being heterogeneity index-1 (HI-1) and heterogeneity index-2 (HI-2), respectively. Using SUV thresholds of 2.5, and 40%, 50%, 60%, and 70%SUV max to calculate AUC-CSH and SUV max/SUV mean. Kaplan-Meier survival curves and Cox proportional hazards models were used to analyze the prognostic value of primary lesion PET metabolic parameters on overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). Results:The median follow-up time of 35 patients was 20 months, with 25 patients (71%) experiencing disease progression and 16 patients (46%) deceased. Multivariate Cox regression analysis revealed that HI-1, HI-2, MTV, SUV max/SUV mean2.5, and SUV max were the independent prognostic factors for PFS (hazard rate ( HR) (95% CI): 0.32(0.13-0.82), 0.32(0.13-0.82), 3.86(1.34-11.12), 4.61(1.33-16.02), 4.06(1.55-10.61), all P<0.05), whereas SUV max and SUV max/SUV mean2.5 were the independent prognostic factors for OS ( HR: 8.04(1.96-32.87), 2.87(1.09-7.51), P values: 0.004, 0.032). Conclusion:HI-1, HI-2, and SUV max/SUV mean2.5 have prognostic value for CMM, while the value of AUC-CSH heterogeneity parameters are not significant.

Objective To investigate the correlation between spread through air space (STAS) of sub-centimeter non-small cell lung cancer and clinical characteristics and radiological features, constructing a nomogram risk prediction model for STAS to provide a reference for the preoperative planning of sub-centimeter non-small cell lung cancer patients. Methods The data of patients with sub-centimeter non-small cell lung cancer who underwent surgical treatment in Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital from January 2022 to October 2023 were retrospectively collected. According to the pathological diagnosis of whether the tumor was accompanied with STAS, they were divided into a STAS positive group and a STAS negative group. The clinical and radiological data of the two groups were collected for univariate logistic regression analysis, and the variables with statistical differences were included in the multivariate analysis. Finally, independent risk factors for STAS were screened out and a nomogram model was constructed. The sensitivity and specificity were calculated based on the Youden index, and area under the curve (AUC), calibration plots and decision curve analysis (DCA) were used to evaluate the performance of the model. Results A total of 112 patients were collected, which included 17 patients in the STAS positive group, consisting of 11 males and 6 females, with a mean age of (59.0±10.3) years. The STAS negative group included 95 patients, with 30 males and 65 females, and a mean age of (56.8±10.3) years. Univariate logistic regression analysis showed that male, anti-GAGE7 antibody positive, mean CT value and spiculation were associated with the occurrence of STAS (P<0.05). Multivariate regression analysis showed that associations between STAS and male (OR=5.974, 95%CI 1.495 to 23.872), anti-GAGE7 antibody positive (OR=11.760, 95%CI 1.619 to 85.408) and mean CT value (OR=1.008, 95%CI 1.004 to 1.013) were still significant (P<0.05), while the association between STAS and spiculation was not significant anymore (P=0.438). Based on the above three independent predictors, a nomogram model of STAS in sub-centimeter non-small cell lung cancer was constructed. The AUC value of the model was 0.890, the sensitivity was 76.5%, and the specificity was 91.6%. The calibration curve was well fitted, suggesting that the model had a good prediction efficiency for STAS. The DCA plot showed that the model had a good clinically utility. Conclusion Male, anti-GAGE7 antibody positive and mean CT value are independent predictors of STAS positivity of sub-centimeter non-small cell lung cancer, and the nomogram model established in this study has a good predictive value and provides reference for preoperative planning of patients.
