1.Relation between parental psychological control and depressive symptoms among secondary school students: the pathway of negative perfectionism and academic stress

BackgroundDepression is a prevalent emotional problem in adolescents, and parental psychological control is an important predictor of adolescent depression. However, existing research on the acting mechanism between the two is not adequate. ObjectiveTo explore the pathway of negative perfectionism and academic stress between parental psychological control and depressive symptoms among secondary school students, so as to provide references for reducing the incidence risk of depression in such population. MethodsFrom February to April 2023, 1 100 students across 2 middle schools and 2 high schools in Zhongshan city were selected as subjects. The survey was conducted adopting Parental Psychological Control Questionnaire, Chinese Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (CFMPS), sense of academic stress subscale in Mental Health Inventory of Middle School Student (MMHI-60) and Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression Scale (CES-D). Spearman correlation analysis was adopted to examine the correlation between scores of all scales above, and Amos 24.0 was used to test the mediating path of negative perfectionism and academic stress between parental psychological control and depressive symptoms among secondary school students. ResultsAmong the 1 009 valid questionnaires withdrew (91.73% of the total), 261 students were detected to have depressive symptoms (25.87%). As the results of Spearman correlation analysis showed, the scores of the Parental Psychological Control Questionnaire, score of negative perfectionism dimension in CFMPS, score of sense of academic stress subscale in MMHI-60 and CES-D score were positively correlated with each other (r=0.323~0.644, P<0.05 or 0.01). The direct effect value of parental psychological control on depressive symptoms in secondary school students was 0.128 (95% CI: 0.061~0.201), accounting for 31.37% of the total effect. Negative perfectionism and academic stress played independently as intermediatory roles between parental psychological control and depressive symptoms in secondary school students, and the indirect effect values were 0.099 (95% CI: 0.068~0.133) and 0.100 (95% CI: 0.060~0.143), accounting for 24.27% and 24.51% of the total effect, respectively. Negative perfectionism and academic stress acted combinedly as the chain effect pathway between parental psychological control and depressve symptoms in secondary school students, with the indirect effect value of 0.081 (95% CI: 0.060~0.106) accounting for 19.85% of the total effect. ConclusionParental psychological control can affect the depressive symptoms among secondary school students directly, and through independent or chain paths of negative perfectionism and academic stress indirectly. The chemical constituents were systematically separated from the roots of Berberis polyantha by various chromatographic methods, including silica gel column chromatography, HP20 column chromatography, polyamide column chromatography, reversed-phase C_(18) column chromatography, and preparative high-performance liquid chromatography. The structures of the compounds were identified by physicochemical properties and spectroscopic techniques(1D NMR, 2D NMR, UV, MS, and CD). Four phenylpropanoids were isolated from the methanol extract of the roots of B. polyantha, and they were identified as(2R)-1-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-1-propanone-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(1), methyl 4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxybenzoate(2),(+)-syringaresinol(3), and syringaresinol-4-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(4). Compound 1 was a new compound, and other compounds were isolated from this plant for the first time. The anti-inflammatory activity of these compounds was evaluated based on the release of nitric oxide(NO) in the culture of lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced RAW264.7 macrophages. At a concentration of 10 μmol·L~(-1), all the four compounds inhibited the LPS-induced release of NO in RAW264.7 cells, demonstrating potential anti-inflammatory properties.

4.Study on the risk factors of coal workers' pneumoconiosis and the mechanism of pyroptosis in peripheral blood

Objective:To explore the risk factors of coal workers' pneumoconiosis, reveal the molecular mechanism of pyroptosis in peripheral blood of coal workers' pneumoconiosis patients, and provide new strategies and potential diagnostic biomarkers for the treatment of the disease.Methods:From January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2022, workers with suspected occupational diseases who were diagnosed with coal workers' pneumoconiosis in the Third People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region were included in the study, including 77 patients with coal workers' pneumoconiosis stage Ⅰ, 10 patients with stage Ⅱ, 6 patients with stage Ⅲ, and 49 workers with dust-free lung disease as the control group. General information of the subjects was collected, blood samples were collected for routine blood and blood biochemical results, and plasma levels of interleukin (IL) -1β and IL-18 were measured. Combined with the results of clinical examination, multi-factor ordered logistic regression analysis was carried out to evaluate the influencing factors of coal workers' pneumoconiosis. At the same time, the expression of pyroptosis related proteins in blood cells was detected to reveal the molecular mechanism of coal workers' pneumoconiosis.Results:All 142 subjects were male, with an average age of (51.65±6.31) years old and an average working age of (15.94±9.38) years. There were significant differences in smoking age ( F=4.95, P=0.003) and lunch break distribution ( H=8.84, P=0.031) among all groups. The hemoglobin content of stage Ⅰ patients was higher than that of stage Ⅱ patients, and the neutrophil percentage of stage Ⅲ patients was higher than that of the other 3 groups ( P<0.05). The levels of total bilirubin and indirect bilirubin in stage Ⅰ patients were higher than those in control group, while the erythrocyte sedimentation rate in stage Ⅱ patients was higher than that in the other 3 groups ( P<0.05). The levels of IL-18 and IL-1β in stage Ⅲ of coal workers' pneumoconiosis were higher than those in the other 3 groups ( P<0.05). Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that smoking age ( OR=1.03, 95% CI: 1.00-1.06) and IL-1β level ( OR=4.61, 95% CI: 1.59-13.32) were independent risk factors for coal workers' pneumoconiosis ( P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the expression levels of nucleotide-binding of oligomeric domain-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3), Caspase-1, GSDMD, Caspase-4 and other proteins in stage Ⅲ of coal workers' pneumoconiosis were significantly increased ( P<0.05) . Conclusion:Smoking age is a risk factor for coal workers' pneumoconiosis, IL-1β may be a potential biomarker for the diagnosis of coal workers' pneumoconiosis, and pyroptosis may play a role in the development of peripheral inflammation of coal workers' pneumoconiosis.
5.Simulation of Degradation Process of Polymer Vascular Stent Using the Stochastic Finite Element Method

Objective To address the problem of late strut thrombosis generated after the implantation of biodegradable vascular stents,a stochastic finite element model was established to perform biomechanical analysis on the degradation process of polymer vascular stent from the perspectives of molecular weight and stress.Methods A mathematical model of the degradation process of biodegradable vascular scaffolds using poly lactic acid(PLA)was established and the mathematical model was imported,and a finite element model was constructed using COMSOL software.The model was stochastically used to analyze the effects on molecular weight and stress distribution in the degradation process under different stochastic parameters and standard deviations.Results During the degradation process of degradable polymer vascular scaffolds in human body,the random variables Mn0 and 8%standard deviation had the most significant effects on the distribution of molecular weights;randomization of the parameters led to a wider distribution range of the fracture strength during the degradation process of polymer vascular scaffolds,and the minimum value of fracture strength was lower.Conclusions The inhomogeneity of molecular weight distribution in polymer vascular stent materials leads to differences in mechanical properties at different locations of the stent,which in turn causes stress concentration within the material,ultimately leading to non-uniform fragmentation of the stent during degradation,which becomes a determining factor for stent thrombosis in later stages.This study provides theoretical guidance for designing next-generation biodegradable vascular stents.

Objective:To understand the current status of anemia, iron deficiency, and iron-deficiency anemia among preschool children in China.Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted with a multi-stage stratified sampling method to select 150 streets or townships from 10 Chinese provinces, autonomous regions, or municipalities (East: Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, and Hainan; Central: Henan; West: Chongqing, Shaanxi, Guizhou, and Xinjiang; Northeast: Liaoning). From May 2022 to April 2023, a total of 21 470 children, including community-based children aged 0.5 to<3.0 years receiving child health care and kindergarten-based children aged 3.0 to<7.0 years, were surveyed. They were divided into 3 age groups: infants (0.5 to<1.0 year), toddlers (1.0 to<3.0 years), and preschoolers (3.0 to<7.0 years). Basic information such as sex and date of birth of the children was collected, and peripheral blood samples were obtained for routine blood tests and serum ferritin measurement. The prevalence rates of anemia, iron deficiency, and iron-deficiency anemia were analyzed, and the prevalence rate differences were compared among different ages, sex, urban and rural areas, and regions using the chi-square test.Results:A total of 21 460 valid responses were collected, including 10 780 boys (50.2%). The number of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers were 2 645 (12.3%), 6 244 (29.1%), and 12 571 (58.6%), respectively. The hemoglobin level was (126.7±14.8) g/L, and the serum ferritin level was 32.3 (18.5, 50.1) μg/L. The overall rates of anemia, iron deficiency, and iron-deficiency anemia were 10.4% (2 230/21 460), 28.3% (6 070/21 460), and 3.9% (845/21 460), respectively. The prevalence rate of anemia was higher for boys than for girls (10.9% (1 173/10 780) vs. 9.9% (1 057/10 680), χ2=5.58, P=0.018), with statistically significant differences in the rates for infants, toddlers and preschoolers (18.0% (475/2 645), 10.6% (662/6 244), and 8.7% (1 093/12 571), respectively, χ2=201.81, P<0.01), and the rate was significantly higher for children in rural than that in urban area (11.8% (1 516/12 883) vs. 8.3% (714/8 577), χ2=65.54, P<0.01), with statistically significant differences in the rates by region ( χ2=126.60, P<0.01), with the highest rate of 15.8% (343/2 173) for children in Central region, and the lowest rate of 5.3% (108/2 053) in Northeastern region. The prevalence rates of iron deficiency were 33.8% (895/2 645), 32.2% (2 011/6 244), and 25.2% (3 164/12 571) in infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, respectively, and 30.0% (3 229/10 780) in boys vs. 26.6% (2 841/10 680) in girls, 21.7% (1 913/8 821), 40.0% (870/2 173), 27.1% (2 283/8 413), 48.9% (1 004/2 053) in Eastern, Central, Western, and Northeastern regions, respectively, and each between-group showed a significant statistical difference ( χ2=147.71, 29.73, 773.02, all P<0.01). The prevalence rate of iron-deficiency anemia showed a significant statistical difference between urban and rural areas, 2.9% (251/8 577) vs. 4.6% (594/12 883) ( χ2=38.62, P<0.01), while the difference in iron deficiency prevalence was not significant ( χ2=0.51, P=0.476). Conclusions:There has been a notable improvement in iron deficiency and iron-deficiency anemia among preschool children in China, but the situation remains concerning. Particular attention should be paid to the prevention and control of iron deficiency and iron-deficiency anemia, especially among infants and children in the Central, Western, and Northeastern regions of China.
7.Analysis of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease differences from metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease based on clinical features

Objective:To explore the clinical features of fatty liver disease (FLD) from non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) to metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MASLD), so as to elucidate its clinical application value under three renames.Methods:Patients who were hospitalized in the Department of Hepatology, Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine Affiliated to Xinjiang Medical University, from January 2020 to September 2023 and met the diagnosis of NAFLD, metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), or MASLD were selected as the research subjects. The clinical indicators differences among the three groups of patients were compared, mainly including general information (age, gender, body mass index, past history, etc.), serological indicators (liver and kidney function, blood lipids, blood sugar, coagulation function, etc.), non-invasive liver fibrosis indicators, fat attenuation parameters, etc. Measurement data were analyzed using ANOVA and the rank sum test, while count data were analyzed using the χ2 test. Results:NAFLD, MAFLD, and MASLD prevalence rates among 536 cases were 64.0%, 93.7%, and 100%, respectively. 318 cases (59.3%) met the three fatty liver names at the same time among them. Male population proportions in NAFLD, MAFLD, and MASLD were 30.9%, 55.8%, and 53.9%, respectively. The alcohol consumption history proportion was 0, 36.7%, and 36.0%, respectively. The smoking history proportion was 7.0%, 31.9%, and 30.6%, respectively. The body mass index was (27.66 ± 3.97), (28.33 ± 3.63), and (27.90 ± 3.89) kg/m 2, respectively. The γ-glutamyltransferase levels were 26.6 (18.0, 47.0) U/L, 31.0 (20.0, 53.0) U/L, and 30.8 (19.8, 30.8) U/L, respectively. The high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels were 1.07 (0.90, 1.23) mmol/L, 1.02 (0.86, 1.19) mmol/L, and 1.03 (0.87,1.21) mmol/L, respectively. Sequentially measured uric acid was (322.98 ± 84.51) μmol/L, (346.57 ± 89.49) μmol/L, and (344.89 ±89.67) μmol/L, respectively. Sequentially measured creatinine was 69.6 (62.9, 79.0) μmol/L, 73.0 (65.0, 83.5) μmol/L, and 73.0 (65.0, 83.0) μmol/L, respectively. The sequential analysis of obesity proportion was 74.3%, 81.7%, and 76.5%, respectively, with statistically significant differences ( P<0.05). Conclusion:Compared with the NAFLD population, the MAFLD and MASLD populations were predominantly male, obese, and had a history of smoking and drinking. The levels of γ-glutamyltransferase, uric acid, and creatinine were slightly higher, while the levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol were lower. MASLD appeared in NAFLD and MAFLD on the basis of inheritance and progression, emphasizing once again the important role of metabolic factors in a fatty liver.
8.Analysis of doses to glandular tissue from digital mammography in Tianjin

Objective:To understand the level of radiation doses from digital mammography in Tianjin and the associated influencing factors.Methods:The stratified quota sampling method was used for analysis of 374 digital mammography-examined individuals by using 12 digital mammography devices in 12 selected medical institutions. The examinations were carried out in terms of exposure positions[(craniocaudal (CC) and mediolateral oblique (MLO)], compressed breast thickness, tube voltage, time product of tube current (mAs) and target/filter.Results:The median age of the examined individuals in this survey was 43 years, the median tube voltage (kV) was 29 kV, the median tube current time product was 60.3 mAs, the median compressed breast thickness was 48 mm, and the median average glandular dose (AGD) was 1.32 mGy. The mean dose to the analyzed glandular tissue in the conditions of different target/filters varies in the descent order of Mo/Mo > Mo/Rh > Rh/Rh > W/Rh > W/Al, with the difference being statistically significant difference ( χ2=885.90, P<0.05). The mean dose to the glandular tissue increased with the increase in compressed breast thickness, and the difference was statistically significant ( χ2=31.58, 8.56, 76.13, 118.47, 24.09, P<0.05). Conclusions:The median average glandular dose in Tianjin was 1.32 mGy. This level is lower than in Guangxi province and Fuzhou city, similar to that in Beijing and Guangdong province, and lower than the national survey result of average breast dose. The efforts should be dedicated to further strengthening the research on the related factors of the average glandular dose in order to protect the health and safety of the examined individuals.

Gallbladder carcinoma,a relatively rare malignancy within the biliary tract,presents a grave prognosis primarily due to asymptomatic early stages leading to advanced stage diagnosis and the absence of efficacious treatment options.Research has identified chronic inflammation,predom-inantly caused by gallstones,as a critical etiological factor.While surgical intervention offers potential curative outcomes in early stages,the majority of cases are identified too late for optimal surgical outcomes.Chemotherapy and targeted therapy,despite offering new therapeutic avenues,have not significantly improved overall survival rates.Thus,understanding the pathogenesis of gallbladder cancer,especially its association with key genetic and molecular pathways,is imperative for devising novel therapeutic strategies.This review delineates the epidemiology,pathogenesis,current treat-ment modalities,and research advancements in gallbladder cancer,aiming to provide innovative in-sights for clinical management and guide future research endeavors.
