Acute hypoxic exposure can induce functional brain impairment, driven by molecular mechanisms including mitochondrial dysfunction, intracellular calcium overload, glial cell activation and inflammatory responses, blood-brain barrier disruption, and alterated cerebral blood flow. Acetazolamide, a broad-spectrum carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, is a standard clinical treatment and remains the only medication approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the prevention and treatment of acute mountain sickness. Substantial evidence confirms that under acute hypoxic exposure, acetazolamide exerts multi-level neuroprotective effects on brain tissue by inhibiting carbonic anhydrase VB and other isoforms. These protective mechanisms involve preserving mitochondrial integrity, regulating calcium homeostasis and pH balance, modulating glial cell activity to mitigate neuroinflammation, maintaining blood-brain barrier structure integrity, and improving cerebral perfusion through cerebrovascular regulation. This article reviewed the molecular pathological mechanisms of hypoxia-induced nervous system damage, summarized the pharmacological properties and neuroprotective effects of acetazolamide, and provided a theoretical basis for therapeutic interventions against high-altitude hypoxic neural injury.

Objective In order to understand the current resistance status of Aedes albopictus(Ae. albopictus) adult population to commonly used insecticides and the resistance dynamics development in Zhejiang Province and provide a theoretical basis for the scientific and rational use of hygienic insecticides. Methods Resistance determination was carried out using the diagnostic dose method(GB/T 26347-2010)recommended by WHO in the adult mosquito contact cylinder method to monitor the resistance of Ae. albopictus field populations in 11 cities and districts in Zhejiang Province in 2024. Results The monitoring result showed that adult Ae. albopictus in 11 areas were resistant or suspected resistant populations to both cis-cypermethrin and permethrin; suspected and resistant populations to the organophosphate insecticide malathion were as high as 81.82%; while suspected resistance to the carbamate insecticide residual carbofuran accounted for 45.45%, and the rest of the monitoring sites were sensitive to it. Conclusions The result suggest that the generalized resistance of Ae. albopictus populations to pyrethroids and organophosphorus insecticides in the field in Zhejiang Province needs to be highly emphasized. In future mosquito vector and mosquito-borne disease control, insecticides should be selected based on the resistance monitoring information, while following scientific guidelines for insecticide use.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD),a group of common diseases in clinical practice, are witnessing a steady rise in both incidence and mortality rates, posing a challenge to public health. Gualou Xiebai Banxiatang, originating from Synopsis of the Golden Chamber (《金匮要略》),was initially used to treat severe cases of chest impediment. The formula consists of Trichosanthis Fructus,Allii Macrostemonis Bulbus,Pinelliae Rhizoma, and Baijiu. It has a wide range of clinical applications, with therapeutic effects including moving Qi to relieve depression, activating Yang to dissipate mass, and expelling phlegm to alleviate chest congestion. In recent years, clinical research has confirmed that Gualou Xiebai Banxiatang, with or without modification, used alone or in combination with Western medicine, has definite effects in the treatment of CVD such as hyperlipidemia, coronary atherosclerotic heart disease, hypertension, heart failure, and arrhythmia. It can alleviate disease symptoms and reduce the risk of re-hospitalization. Basic research indicates that the mechanisms of Gualou Xiebai Banxiatang include improving endothelial functions, exhibiting anti-inflammatory properties, countering oxidative stress, preventing apoptosis, inhibiting ventricular remodeling, regulating mitochondrial functions, improving hemorheology, and modulating autophagy and neurotransmitters. This article reviews relevant articles in recent years with focuses on the compatibility, clinical application, and mechanism of Gualou Xiebai Banxiatang. This review is expected to provide a theoretical basis for the mechanism research and clinical application of this formula in treating CVD and to offer ideas and reference for in-depth research.

Chinese Journal of Reproduction and Contraception 2025;45(11):1148-1151
Objective:To investigate the pregnancy outcomes in patients ≤35 years old with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) undergoing intrauterine insemination (IUI).Methods:A retrospective cohort study was conducted by analyzing the clinical data of 6 229 IUI cycles performed in patients aged ≤35 years at the Reproductive Health Hospital of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University between June 2016 and March 2024. Based on serum anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels, the subjects were divided into two groups: patients with AMH <1.1 μg/L were classified as the DOR group (489 cycles), and patients with AMH ≥1.1 μg/L were classified as the normal ovarian reserve (NOR) group (5 740 cycles). Propensity score matching (PSM) was applied to control for confounding factors, after 1∶1 PSM matching, 486 cycles were included in each group. Clinical pregnancy rate, miscarriage rate, live birth rate, biochemical pregnancy rate, and ectopic pregnancy rate were compared between the two groups by generalized estimating equations. Results:The clinical pregnancy rate was 21.19% (103/486) in DOR group and 24.07% (117/486) in NOR group, with no statistically significant difference ( P=0.294). The live birth rate was 18.31% (89/486) in DOR group and 20.16% (98/486) in NOR group, also without significant difference ( P=0.469). Additionally, no significant differences were observed in miscarriage rate, biochemical pregnancy rate, or ectopic pregnancy rate between the two groups (all P>0.05). Conclusion:In patients aged ≤35 years with DOR, pregnancy outcomes from IUI are comparable to those in young patients with NOR.
