1.Effect of 12-year-old children s pit and fissure sealants on the health of first permanent molars

Objective:
To assess the effect of 12-year-old children s pit and fissure sealants on the health of first permanent molars, so as to provide evidence for optimizing caries prevention strategies among children.
Methods:
In March 2025, a cluster random sampling method was used to conduct oral examinations on 965 students aged 12 from Chengdu s 2021 Comprehensive Intervention Program for Pediatric Oral Diseases. Data from the Comprehensive Intervention System for Children s Oral Diseases were referenced. Participants were divided into a sealed group ( n =755) and an unsealed group ( n =210) based on whether they had received sealants on their first permanent molars. Chi square test or analysis of variance were used to compare indicators such as caries incidence, new caries detection rate, and new caries mean (DMFT increment) between the two groups
Results:
The sealed group showed significantly lower caries incidence, new caries detection rate, and new caries mean (33.38%, 17.65%, 0.59±1.00) compared to the unsealed group (43.81%, 24.70%, 0.87±1.22)( χ 2/F =7.79, 18.26, 9.55, all P <0.05). However, no significant difference was found in the filled teeth ratio between the two groups (20.38% , 20.16%; χ 2=0.01, P =0.94). In girls, the sealed group exhibited significantly lower caries incidence, new caries detection rate, and new caries mean (36.78%, 20.99%, 0.69± 1.10 ) than the unsealed group (57.55%, 33.52%, 1.15±1.29) ( χ 2/F =14.42, 23.76, 10.92, all P <0.05), whereas no significant differences were observed between boys in the sealed (30.47%, 14.85%, 0.50±0.89) and unsealed groups (29.81%, 16.18%, 0.59± 1.08) ( χ 2/F =0.02, 0.41, 0.74, all P >0.05). Boys had significantly lower new caries detection rates and new caries means than girls in both groups ( χ 2/F =16.20, 6.94; 29.93, 11.84, all P <0.05). In urban areas, the sealed group had lower new caries detection rates and new caries means (19.37%, 0.68±1.04) than the unsealed group (24.66%, 0.90±1.20) ( χ 2/F =6.86, 3.94, both P <0.05). In suburban areas, all indicators for the sealed group (24.71%, 13.77%, 0.42±0.87) were significantly lower than those for the unsealed group (38.81%, 24.77%, 0.82±1.28) ( χ 2/F =5.28, 15.36, 6.00, all P <0.05). Indicators from specialized dental institutions (11.25%, 4.81%, 0.16±0.56) were significantly lower than those from county level or above general hospitals (33.33%, 19.11%, 0.38±1.00) and primary healthcare institutions (37.59%, 19.24%, 0.67±1.05) ( χ 2/F =20.99, 34.31, 21.08 , all P <0.01).
Conclusions
The 12-year-old children s pit and fissure sealants effectively reduce the caries incidence in first permanent molars, particularly showing significant effectiveness in girls and suburban children. Intervention strategies should be optimized according to gender.
2.A time-stratified case-crossover study on the relationship between meteorological factors and scarlet fever incidence in Xicheng District of Beijing

Objective To explore the impact of meteorological factors on the incidence of scarlet fever in Xicheng District of Beijing, and to provide a scientific basis for formulating targeted prevention and control measures. Methods Daily scarlet fever incidence data and corresponding meteorological data from 2010 to 2019 in Xicheng District of Beijing were collected. Using year, month, and day of the week as time-stratified variables, a conditional logistic regression model with a time-stratified case-crossover design was employed to analyze the impact of different meteorological factors on the number of scarlet fever cases in Xicheng District, while controlling for long-term trends, seasonality and other confounding factors. Results From 2010 to 2019, a total of 3,195 cases of scarlet fever were reported in Xicheng District, with an average annual incidence rate of 24.17/100 000. The overall trend showed fluctuating decline, during which three incidence peaks occurred, with the highest incidence rate observed in 2011. No severe or fatal cases were reported. The incidence of scarlet fever exhibited a distinct seasonal bimodal distribution, primarily concentrated between April to June and November to January of the following year. The conditional logistic regression results showed that the average relative humidity and average temperature were positively correlated with scarlet fever cases (β=0.0203, β=0.0613, P<0.001), while the average vapor pressure was negatively correlated with scarlet fever cases (β=-0.1468, P<0.001). Increases average relative humidity and average temperature were risk factors for scarlet fever incidence (OR=1.0205,95%CI=1.0150 -1.0261;OR=1.0632,95%CI=1.0379 -1.0891). For every 1.00% increase in average relative humidity, the number of scarlet fever cases increased by 2.05% (1.50% –2.61%). Similarly, for every 1。C rise in average temperature, the number of cases increased by 6.32% (3.79% – 8.91%). In contrast, an increase in average vapor pressure had a protective effect against scarlet fever (OR=0.8635,95%CI=0.8392-0.8885). For every 1 hPa increase in average vapor pressure, the number of scarlet fever cases decreased by 13.65% (11.15%–16.08%). Conclusion The average relative humidity, average temperature and average vapor pressure are the primary meteorological factors influencing the incidence of scarlet fever in Xicheng District of Beijing, and can be utilized as indicators for the prevention, control, surveillance and early warning of scarlet fever.
3.Modified Yacoub technique for patients with aortic root aneurysm

Objective To evaluate the feasibility and safety of Remodeling+Ring (modified Yacoub) for patients with aortic root aneurysm. Methods The clinical data of patients who underwent modified Yacoub surgery at West China Hospital of Sichuan University from July 2020 to May 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Results Four male patients were enrolled, with an average age of (47.3±10.3) years and body surface area of (1.9±0.2) m2. One patient had bicuspid aortic valve. Aortic valve regurgitation was mild in three patients and moderate in one patient. Preoperative New York Heart Association (NYHA) heart function was gradeⅠin one patient and gradeⅡin three patients. The maximum diameter of the aortic sinus was (59.3±8.1) mm. All four patients recovered and were discharged without a second thoracotomy. No postoperative complications such as brain injury, infection, respiratory failure or renal insufficiency occurred. During the follow-up of (17.0±13.1) months, two patients showed no regurgitation of the aortic valve, two patients exhibited mild regurgitation. Three patients had a heart function of gradeⅠ and one patient of gradeⅡ. Conclusion Modified Yacoub technique is safe and effective for patients with aortic root aneurysm.
4.Comparison of epidemiological characteristics of seasonal influenza in Xicheng District, Beijing, in 2018-2029 to 2023-2024

Objective To compare the epidemic characteristics of seasonal influenza in Xicheng District, Beijing, between 2018-2019 and 2023-2024. Methods The present study was a cross-sectional study. The influenza cases and etiological surveillance data of Xicheng District, Beijing in 2018-2019 and 2023-2024, respectively, were analyzed to study the differences in the incidence rate of influenza cases in different ages, regions, occupations, and etiological detection results during the four years. Results There were significant differences in the incidence rates of influenza (χ2=37 038.65,P<0.05) and the interval between visits (Z=468.692, P < 0.05) in 2018, 2019, 2023 and 2024. There were statistically significant differences in the incidence rates of influenza among different age groups, streets, and occupations during the four years (Z=75.646, 209.276, 72.132, 361.176, 43.570, all P < 0.05). Compared with 2018-2019, the growth rate of influenza in Xicheng District, Beijing in 2023-2024 was the highest in the 15-24 year-old group, Tianqiao Street, and housework and unemployed people. The difference in the interval between influenza visits among people of different age groups during these 4 years was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The growth rate of the interval between influenza visits in Xicheng District, Beijing in 2023-2024 was the highest in the 15-24 year-old group, while it showed a decrease in the 0-4 year-old group. The etiology in 2018-2019 was mainly H1N1 and H3N2 subtypes, and in 2023-2024 it was mainly H3N2 subtype and influenza B, and the peak values of H1N1, H3N2 subtype and influenza B in 2023-2024 were all higher than those in 2018-2019. Conclusion During the epidemic period, non-medical interventions have changed the transmission mode, seasonal peak and subtype distribution of influenza virus. As the epidemic has eased, the pattern of influenza has gradually rebounded.
5.Report of 4 cases of IgG4-related urinary diseases and literature review

[Objective] To explore the clinical features of IgG4-related urinary diseases so as to provide reference for the diagnosis and treatment of such diseases. [Methods] The clinical data of 4 cases of IgG4-related urinary system diseases diagnosed and treated in Xijing Hospital of Air Force Medical University during Aug.2019 and Dec.2023 were retrospectively collected.Here, we report on the diagnosis and treatment of these patients, analysing their symptoms, serology, imaging and pathology as well as their treatment and outcomes. [Results] The patients included 2 male and 2 female.The lesions were involved with the retroperitoneum and urinary system.Three patients had symptoms of lumbar pain.The imaging manifestations were complex, including retroperitoneal mass involving urinary system organs in 2 cases, tabdense shadow of the right kidney in 1 case, and simple cystic mass of kidney in 1 case.Serum IgG4 value was not detected before surgery.All patients underwent radical surgical treatment.Postoperative pathology showed fibrous tissue hyperplasia with a large number of plasma cells, lymphocytes, a few neutrophil infiltrates, and lymphoid follicles and obliterated vasculitis in some specimens.The number of IgG4+ plasma cells was more than 10 in all tissues under high power microscope.After surgery, 3 patients had symptoms improved, and serum IgG4 value was within the normal range; 1 patient (patem 3) had elevated IgG4 value during follow-up, received subsequent hormone therapy, and the serum IgG 4 level remained stable. [Conclusion] The symptoms of IgG4-related diseases involving the urinary system are non-specific, and the imaging findings are various, easily confused with other diseases.Early detection of serum IgG4 and biopsy pathology can help clinicians make correct diagnosis in the early stage.
6.Material Basis and Its Distribution in vivo of Qili Qiangxin Capsules Analyzed by UPLC-Q-Orbitrap-MS

ObjectiveBased on ultra-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole-electrostatic field orbitrap high resolution mass spectrometry(UPLC-Q-Orbitrap-MS), the chemical constituents of Qili Qiangxin capsules was identified, and their distribution in vivo was analyzed. MethodsUPLC-Q-Orbitrap-MS was used to detect the sample solution of Qili Qiangxin capsules, as well as the serum, brain, heart, lung, spleen, liver and kidney tissues of mice after oral administration. Using the Thermo Xcalibur 2.2 software, the compound information database was constructed, and the molecular formulas of compounds corresponding to the quasi-molecular ions were fitted. Based on the information of retention time, accurate relative molecular mass and fragments, the compounds and their distribution in vivo were analyzed by comparing with the data of reference substances and literature. ResultsA total of 233 compounds, including 70 terpenoids, 60 flavonoids, 23 organic acids, 17 alkaloids, 20 steroids, 7 coumarins and 36 others, were identified or predicted from Qili Qiangxin capsules, 73 of which were identified matching with standard substances. Tissue distribution results showed that 71, 17, 38, 33, 32, 58 and 43 migrating components were detected in blood, brain, heart, lung, spleen, liver and kidney, respectively. Thirty-seven components were absorbed into the blood and heart, including quinic acid, benzoylaconitine benzoylmesaconine and so on. Fourteen components were absorbed into the blood and six tissues, including calycosin, methylnissolin, formononetin, alisol B, alisol A and so on. ConclusionThis study comprehensively analyzes the chemical components of Qili Qiangxin capsules and their distribution in vivo. Among them, astragaloside Ⅳ, salvianolic acid B, ginsenoside Rb1, ginsenoside Rb3, ginsenoside Rd, ginsenoside Rg3, calycosin-7-glucoside, and sinapine may be the important components for the treatment of heart failure, which can provide useful reference for its quality control and research on pharmacodynamic material basis.
7.Role of Autophagy in Cardiovascular Diseases and Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment: A Review

Cardiovascular diseases, a group of major non-infectious diseases, are characterized by high morbidity and mortality, significantly influencing patients' quality of life. Hence, it is imperative to discover a secure and efficacious treatment approach. As a form of programmed cell death, autophagy has been demonstrated to be associated with the pathogeneses of hypertension, diabetic cardiomyopathy, myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury, heart failure, atherosclerosis, and other cardiovascular disorders. It serves as one of the potential targets for the clinical intervention in cardiovascular diseases by traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Autophagy exerts dual regulatory effects on the occurrence and development of cardiovascular diseases, and its specific effect predominantly depends on the extent of autophagy and the pathological stage of diseases. Recent studies have confirmed that TCM can prevent and treat cardiovascular diseases by directly regulating autophagy or interacting with oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis under the regulation of autophagy, exhibiting the unique advantages of multiple targets, multiple components, and mild adverse reactions. This article reviews the experimental research progress in the role of autophagy and the intervention by active components and compound prescriptions of TCM and Chinese patent medicines in common cardiovascular diseases (such as diabetic cardiomyopathy, myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury, heart failure, and atherosclerosis) in recent years and summarizes the research shortcomings, providing a theoretical basis and strategies for the clinical treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

9.Modified Buwangsan Ameliorates Cognitive Dysfunction in Rat Model of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus by Regulating Autophagy in Hippocampus via PI3K/Akt/mTOR Pathway

ObjectiveTo evaluate the therapeutic effects of modified Buwangsan on cognitive dysfunction in the rat model of type 2 diabetes mellitus with mild cognitive impairment (T2DM-MCI) and explore the underlying mechanism. MethodsThirty-six 5-week-old SPF-grade SD rats were randomly assigned into 6 groups: Normal (Con, fed with a normal diet), model (DM, fed with a high-sugar and high-fat diet), low-dose modified Buwangsan (L-BWS, 1.86 g·kg-1), medium-dose modified Buwangsan (M-BWS, 3.72 g·kg-1), high-dose modified Buwangsan (H-BWS,7.44 g·kg-1), and huperzine A (SSJJ, 0.018 mg·kg-1). The rats were treated by gavage once a day for 12 weeks. The body weight and blood glucose level were monitored dynamically. Morris water maze was employed to test the cognitive function of rats. Hematoxylin-eosin and Nissl staining were employed to observe the pathological changes of the hippocampus. The levels of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in the serum and hippocampus were assessed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Western blotting was employed to determine the expression levels of key autophagy-related proteins including microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 (LC3), type Ⅲ phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase complex regulatory subunit (Beclin1), and phosphorylated UNC-51-like kinase (p-ULK) 1/2 in the hippocampus. Immunofluorescence staining was employed to observe the regulation of p-PI3K/PI3K, p-mTOR/mTOR, and p-Akt/Akt ratios. ResultsCompared with the DM group, the L-BWS, M-BWS, H-BWS, and SSJJ groups showed increases in body weight at the end of the experiment (P<0.05), and the M-BWS, H-BWS and SSJJ groups showed declines in fasting blood glucose level (P<0.05). In the water maze test, compared with the DM group, the M-BWS, H-BWS, and SSJJ groups presented shortened escape latency (P<0.001). The L-BWS, M-BWS, H-BWS, and SSJJ group showcased regularly arranged cells in the hippocampus and cortex, markedly increased number of neurons, and significantly recovered Nissl bodies. Compared with the DM group, the L-BWS, M-BWS, H-BWS, and SSJJ groups had reductions in the levels of IL-1β and IL-6 in the serum and hippocampus (P<0.05), increases in the LC3-II/LC3-I ratio and expression level of beclin1 in the hippocampus (P<0.05) and the p-ULK level (P<0.05). The p-PI3K/PI3K, p-Akt/Akt, and p-mTOR/mTOR ratios in the hippocampus decreased in the M-BWS, H-BWS, and SSJJ groups (P<0.01). ConclusionModified Buwangsan significantly ameliorates cognitive dysfunction and neurological damage in the rat model of T2DM through multiple mechanisms. It regulates metabolic disorders, lowers the blood glucose level, improves lipid metabolism, and alleviates oxidative stress. It promotes the protection and repair of neurons by inhibiting inflammatory responses and activating the autophagy pathway in the hippocampus. At the same time, modified Buwangsan relieves autophagy inhibition by regulating the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway to alleviate the brain tissue injury.
