OBJECTIVE: We aimed to investigate the patterns of fasting blood glucose (FBG) trajectories and analyze the relationship between various occupational hazard factors and FBG trajectories in male steelworkers. METHODS: The study cohort included 3,728 workers who met the selection criteria for the Tanggang Occupational Cohort (TGOC) between 2017 and 2022. A group-based trajectory model was used to identify the FBG trajectories. Environmental risk scores (ERS) were constructed using regression coefficients from the occupational hazard model as weights. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to explore the effects of occupational hazard factors using the ERS on FBG trajectories. RESULTS: FBG trajectories were categorized into three groups. An association was observed between high temperature, noise exposure, and FBG trajectory ( P < 0.05). Using the first quartile group of ERS1 as a reference, the fourth quartile group of ERS1 had an increased risk of medium and high FBG by 1.90 and 2.21 times, respectively (odds ratio [ OR] = 1.90, 95% confidence interval [ CI]: 1.17-3.10; OR = 2.21, 95% CI: 1.09-4.45). CONCLUSION An association was observed between occupational hazards based on ERS and FBG trajectories. The risk of FBG trajectory levels increase with an increase in ERS.

Objective:To explore the clinical efficacy of free superficial circumflex iliac artery perforator flap (SCIAPF) in reconstruction of soft tissue defects of hand and foot in children.Methods:From August 2021 to August 2023, free SCIAPFs were used to reconstruct soft tissue defects of hands and feet in 8 children at the Department of Hand and Foot Surgery, Zhoukou Huaihai Hospital. There were 6 boys and 2 girls aged between 2 and 7 years old. The sites of soft tissue defect were: 1 of metacarpophalangeal joint in the functional area of left thumb, 2 of dorsal right hand, 1 of dorsal left foot, 2 of medial malleolus of right foot, and 2 of right forefoot, and all were accompanied with tendon and bone exposure. The size of soft tissue defects ranged from 2.5 cm×3.0 cm to 6.0 cm×3.5 cm. After emergency debridement, the children received flap transfers, the flaps sized from 3.0 cm×3.5 cm to 7.0 cm×4.0 cm. Donor sites were closed by running intradermal suture. All children were included in the scheduled postoperative follow-up by visit of outpatient clinic, WeChat interviews and home visits to observe the appearance, colour, texture and sensation of the flaps, the functional recovery of the affected hands and feet, as well as the healing of donor sites.Results:After surgery, all 8 flaps survived beside 1 had a partial necrosis at the edge and healed with a scab after dressing change. Flap donor sites healed in one stage. Scheduled postoperative follow-up lasted from 7 to 22 months, with an average of 10 months. The flaps presented a slightly bloated appearance, soft texture with a restored protective sensation and satisfactory functional recovery of hands and feet. Linear scars were left at the donor sites. According to the Evaluation Trial Standards of Upper Limb Partial Functional of Hand Surgery of Chinese Medical Association, 1 child was of excellent and 2 children of good in hand function of the 3 children with hand injury. The Maryland Foot Score revealed 3 children were of excellent and 2 of good in foot function of the 5 children with foot injury.Conclusion:Free SCIAPF is an ideal option for reconstruction of soft tissue defects of hand and foot in children, with concealed donor site, convenient flap harvesting, fewer complications and satisfactory reconstructive effect.

This study adopted the policy text analysis method,review the historical background of the enactment,aimed to comparatively analyze the international pharmaceutical trade policies of the BRICS countries.The main objectives of the BRICS countries'international pharmaceutical trade policies included ensuring stable and accessible drug supply,expanding exports of domestic products and creating a favorable political environment.For these purposes,Brazil,Russia,and South Africa all ensure drug supply through substantial imports.However,they have also taken measures such as compulsory patent licensing and promoting localization of production by foreign companies to reduce import dependence.India,on the other hand,protects its domestic industry by resisting drug imports to ensure drug supply while simultaneously promoting the export of pharmaceutical products.China continually optimizes approval and data monitoring procedures to align with international standards,creating a favorable trade environment and expanding exports.China should further refine its international pharmaceutical trade policies while ensuring the autonomy of domestic drug research and supply,fostering stronger collaboration within BRICS nations and promoting global access to public healthcare products.

Glycine receptors (GlyRs) belong to the ligand-gated ion channel receptor superfamily and are widely distributed throughout the central nervous system. GlyRs are essential for maintaining visual, auditory, sensory and motor functions, and abnormalities in its structure and function can lead to various neurological disorders. This review aims to provide an extensive analysis of the structure, function and regulatory mechanisms of GlyRs, and evaluate its role in various central nervous system diseases. Ultimately, this review will provide theoretical support for the development of novel drugs specifically targeting GlyRs.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the genetic basis for a child with mental retardation. METHODS: Whole exome sequencing was carried out for the child. Candidate variant was screened based on his clinical features and verified by Sanger sequencing. RESULTS: The child was found to harbor a c.995_1002delAGACAAAA(p.Asp332AlafsTer84) frameshift variant in the SYNGAP1 gene. Bioinformatic analysis suggested it to be pathogenic. The same variant was not detected in either parent. CONCLUSION The c.995_1002delAGACAAAA(p.Asp332AlafsTer84) frameshift variant of the SYNGAP1 gene probably underlay the mental retardation in this child. Above finding has expanded the spectrum of SYNGAP1 gene variants and provided a basis for the diagnosis and treatment for this child.

Objective To compare the prevalence and disease burden of thyroid cancer and their trends between China and the globe from 1990 to 2019.Methods With the global disease burden data in 2019,Joinpoint was used to predict the trends of the disease burden of thyroid cancer in China and the globe from 1990 to 2019,and logarithmic linear model was used to test the predicted trends.The R language was used for predictive analysis and graphic plotting of the disease burden from 2020 to 2035.Results From 1990 to 2019,the standardized incidence rate and the standardized mortality rate of thyroid cancer in China were lower than those in the globe.The standardized incidence rate in China and the globe showed an increasing trend(with the increases of 102.65% and 40.65%,respectively),while the standardized mortality rate showed a decreasing trend(with the decreases of 7.63% and 4.91%,respectively).Compared with those of the female population,the standardized incidence and mortality rates of the Chinese male population increased significantly from 1990 to 2019(the rates of change in the male population were 48.65% and 214.60%,respectively;and the rates of change in the female population were -39.01% and 60.44%,respectively).China's overall standardized years of life lost(YLL),years lived with disability(YLD),and disability-adjusted life years(DALY)rates during the 30-year period were lower than the global average.The Chinese and global populations showed the standardized YLL rate decreasing by 16.61% and 6.88% and the standardized DALY rate decreasing by 10.77% and 3.65%,respectively,while the rates of standardized YLD increased by 128.91% and 46.89%,respectively.The magnitude of DALY in China and the world was mainly influenced by YLL.The standardized incidence,mortality,and DALY rates of the Chinese male population were gradually approaching the global levels.From 1990 and 2019,thyroid cancer showed a higher mortality rate in the population with the age ≥ 75 years and a higher incidence rate in the population with the age <75 years.It is projected that from 2020 to 2035,the standardized incidence rates in China and the world will increase by 36.66% and 21.15%,respectively;the standardized mortality rates will decrease by 20.19% and 3.46%,respectively;and the standardized DALY rate is expected to decrease by 7.08% in China and increase by 4.35% in the world.Conclusions From 1990 to 2019,China's standardized incidence rate of thyroid cancer increased and had a higher increase than the global level,and the standardized mortality rate decreased,with a slightly higher decrease than the global level.However,the increases in the standardized incidence rate and mortality rate of this disease in China's ≥75 years male population were severe.Although China's disease burden of thyroid cancer showed a decreasing trend in line with the global trend as a whole,the disease burden in the Chinese males was higher than that in the females.Specifically,the disease burden due to premature death was predominant,and the burden in specific populations requires policy attention.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the association between different growth patterns and metabolic syndrome in children and adolescents aged 7 to 17 years, and to provide suggestions for the prevention and control of metabolic syndrome in Chinese children and adolescents. METHODS: Data were collected from the research project "Development and Application of Technology and Related Standards for Prevention and Control of Major Diseases among Students" of public health industry in 2012. This project is a cross-sectional study design. A total of 65 347 students from 93 primary and secondary schools in 7 provinces including Guangdong were selected by stratified cluster random sampling method. Given the budget, 25% of the students were randomly selected to collect blood samples. In this study, 10 176 primary and middle school students aged 7 to 17 years with complete physical measurements and blood biochemical indicators were selected as research objects. Chi-square test was used to compare the distribution differences of growth patterns under different demographic characteristics. Birth weight, waist circumference and blood biochemical indexes were expressed in the form of mean ± standard deviation, and the differences among different groups were compared by variance analysis. Binary Logistic regression model was used to analyze the relationship between different growth patterns and metabolic syndrome in children and adolescents aged 7 to 17 years. RESULTS: The prevalence of metabolic syndrome in children and adolescents was 6.56%, 7.18% in boys and 5.97% in girls. The risk of metabolic syndrome was higher in the catch-down growth group than in the normal growth group (OR=1.417, 95%CI: 1.19-1.69), and lower in the catch-up growth group(OR=0.66, 95%CI: 0.53-0.82). After adjusting for gender, age and so on, the risk of developing metabolic syndrome in the catch-down growth group was higher than that in the normal growth group (OR=1.25, 95%CI: 1.02-1.52), but there was no significant difference between the catch-up growth group and the normal growth group (OR=0.79, 95%CI: 0.62-1.01). Stratified analysis showed that the association between different growth patterns and metabolic syndrome was statistically significant in the 7-12 years group, urban population, and Han Chinese student population. CONCLUSION There is a correlation between different growth patterns and metabolic syndrome in children and adolescents. The risk of developing metabolic syndrome in children and adolescents with catch-down growth is higher than that in the normal growth group, which suggests that attention should be paid to the growth and development of children and adolescents, timely correction of delayed growth and prevention of adverse health outcomes.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the status of depression and social anxiety in children and adolescents, and to analyze the association between body fat distribution and depression, social anxiety in children and adolescents. METHODS: A total of 1 412 children aged 7 to 18 years in Beijing were included by stratified cluster random sampling method. Body fat distribution, including total body fat percentage (total BF%), Android BF%, Gynoid BF% and Android-to-Gynoid fat ratio (AOI), were obtained by dual-energy X-ray absorption method. Depression and social anxiety were evaluated by Children Depression Inventory and Social Anxiety Scale for Children. Multivariate linear regression and restricted cubic spline analysis were used to estimate the linear and non-linear correlation between body fat distribution and depression and social anxiety. RESULTS: 13.1% and 31.1% of the children and adolescents had depressive symptoms and social anxiety symptoms respectively, and the detection rate of depression and social anxiety in the boys and young groups was significantly lower than those in the girls and old groups. There was no significant linear correlation between total BF%, Android BF%, Gynoid BF%, AOI and depression and social anxiety in the children and adolescents. However, total BF% and Gynoid BF% had significant nonlinear correlation with depression, showing an inverted U-shaped curve relationship with the tangent points of 26.8% and 30.9%, respectively. In terms of the nonlinear association of total BF%, Android BF%, Gynoid BF% and AOI with depression and social anxiety, the change trends of the boys and girls, low age group and high age group were consistent. The overall anxiety risk HR of body fat distribution in the boys was significantly higher than that in the girls, and the risk HR of depression and social anxiety were significantly higher in the high age group than those in the low age group. CONCLUSION There was no significant linear correlation between body fat distribution and depression and social anxiety in children and adolescents. Total BF% and depression showed an inverted U-shaped curve, mainly manifested in Gynoid BF%, and this trend was consistent in different genders and different age groups. Maintaining children and adolescents' body fat distribution at an appropriate level is the future direction of the prevention and control of depression and social anxiety in children and adolescents.

Objective:To investigate the signaling pathway of inhibiting macrophage phagocytosis of TIR domain-containing protein encoded by Escherichia coli (TcpC) N-terminal ubiquitin ligase active fragments of uropathogenic Escherichia coli. Methods:Bioinformatics software was used to analyze the amino acid sequences and the function of TcpC N-terminal ubiquitin ligase active fragments as well as the functional sites. PCR was performed to amplify tcpc-330, tcpc-450 and tcpc-510 genes and a prokaryotic expression system was constructed to express the target proteins. The recombinant proteins rTcpC-N110, rTcpC-N150 and rTcpC-N170 were purified by Ni-NTA affinity chromatography. LPS in the recombinant proteins was removed by Detoxi-gel chromatography. The expression of MyD88 at protein and mRNA levels in macrophages incubated with rTcpC-N110, rTcpC-N150, rTcpC-N170 or rTcpC-TIR was detected by Western blot and qRT-PCR. The activation of NF-κB signal pathway and the levels of proinflammatory factors in macrophages incubated with the above TcpC protein fragments were measured by Western blot and ELISA, respectively. Results:Cys12, Trp104 and Trp106 in the N-terminal fragment of TcpC were crucial amino acids in maintaining its ubiquitin ligase activity. The target recombinant proteins rTcpC-N110, rTcpC-N150 and rTcpC-N170 were successfully expressed and purified. After Detoxi-gel chromatography, rTcpC-N110, rTcpC-N150 and rTcpC-N170 extracts were undetectable for LPS. TcpC ubiquitin ligase fragments inhibited the expression of MyD88 at protein level, but not affect its expression at mRNA level in macrophages. LPS-induced phosphorylation of NF-κB signaling pathway-related proteins p50 and p65 was significantly inhibited in macrophages treated with TcpC ubiquitin ligase fragments. Moreover, LPS-induced production of pro-inflammatory factors was also significantly inhibited.Conclusions:The recombinant proteins rTcpC-N110, rTcpC-N150 and rTcpC-N170 could inhibit the expression of MyD88 at protein level and suppress the activation of NF-κB signaling pathway, suggesting that they were closely related to the inhibition of innate immune activity of macrophages.

Objective: To explore the relationship between childhood abuse, adult attachment and borderline personality disorder (BPD) in college students, and to provide reference for promoting the physical and mental health of college students. Methods: We selected undergraduate students from four colleges in Hefei, a total of 4 034 college students were surveyed by the childhood trauma questionnaire short form(CTQ-SF), the state adult attachment measure (SAAM) and the Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire(PDQ). Results: BPD was found in 4.2% of subjects, 4.5% of males and 3.7% of females. The score of BPD in non-single-parent families was lower than that in single-parent families, in families with average family economic status was lower than that in families with poor and good family economic status, and in families with medium father education level was lower than that in fathers with low and high education level(Z=-2.30, 29.25, 9.63, P<0.05). Childhood abuse, avoidant attachment and anxious attachment positively predicted BPD(β=0.21, 0.10, 0.23, P<0.01), secure attachment negatively predicted BPD(β=-0.15, P<0.01). Adult attachment played a partial mediating role in the effects of childhood abuse on BPD, with the mediating effect accounting for 16.7% of the total effect. Conclusion Adult attachment plays a mediating role in the effects of childhood abuse on BPD.
