This study was aimed at understanding the prevalence and influencing factors of food-borne parasitic diseases in ethnic minority areas of Guizhou Province,to provide a scientific basis for the development of appropriate intervention measures based on the human-animal-environment One Health concept.In 2023,the infection status of the human population,reservoir hosts,intermediate hosts,food-borne parasitic diseases,and related social and environmental factors were investigated in Congjiang County in Qidongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture;Luodian County in Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture;and Ceheng County in Qianxinan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture.At least 1 000 individuals were sampled from each county,along with at least 50 insect-protected host samples from each location.Food-borne parasite infections were detected with the modified Kato thick smear method.A questionnaire survey was administered to the population.Detection of food-borne parasitic metacercariae was performed in intermediate host fish through the flaking and digestion method,and in crabs through the pounding and sedimentation method.The chi-square test was used to compare rates,and logistic regression was applied for multivariate analysis.A total of 3 023 questionnaires and fecal samples were collected.Males accounted for 47.50%,females accounted for 52.50%,and members of ethnic minorities accounted for 96.06%.A total of 186 food-borne parasitic infections were identified,and the infection rate was 6.15%.Five insect species were detected,which showed an infection rate of 5.39%.The infection rate of Clonorchis sinensis was 0.33%,that of Taenia was 0.40%,that of Heteroceles was 0.17%,that of Acanthus was 0.17%,and that of Echinostoma was 0.03%.Human infections with Echinostomus colloides and Echinostomia transferoris had not previously been reported in China.Single-factor analysis revealed statistically significant differences in food-borne parasite infections according to various factors,including the consumption of untreated water,raw fish and shrimp,raw pig blood,raw cow gastric juice,and raw pork and beef,as well as raw pig and cow viscera(P<0.05).Multivariate analysis indicated that the risk factors for food-borne parasite infections among residents in minority areas of Guizhou Province included the consumption of raw pig blood(OR=2.841,95%CI:1.809-4.463),raw cow gastric juice(OR=2.122,95%CI:1.297-3.469),and raw fish and shrimp(OR=1.779,95%CI:1.049-3.018).A total of 173 fecal samples of the reservoir host were examined,which showed a rate of food-borne parasite infection of 5.2%.A total of 510 intermediate host fish were examined,which showed a 4.51%positivity rate of encysted metacercaria of Clonorchis sinensis.The crab,pig,and beef samples were not positive.In conclusion,food-borne parasitic infections were prevalent in ethnic minority regions of Guizhou Province,and consumption of raw food were influencing factors.A focus on populations with raw food consumption habits,including raw pig blood,cow gastric juice,fish and shrimp,is essential.Concurrently,monitoring of animal hosts must be strengthened to perform key interventions according to the One Health concept.

Objective To develop an enteral nutrition delivery device for nasal feeding patients to relieve gastrointestinal discomfort during enteral nutrition therapy and solve the problems in heating,quality preservation and constant temperature maintenance of the solution.Methods The enteral nutrition delivery device was mainly composed of a nasal feeding container,a fixing frame,a limiting trough,a heating wire,a temperature control unit and a speed control unit.The heating wire and temperature and speed control units were combined to facilitate the nasogastric solution in the container to be delivered to the patient's stomach and intestines at a constant temperature and a uniform speed.The device developed had its shell made of 304 waterproof stainless steel and the nasal feeding container made of 05-polypropylene.Results The device developed realized constant-temperature and uniform-speed delivery and auto cleaning,and could reduced effectively gastrointestinal adverse reactions during nasal feeding.Conclusion The device developed gains advantages in easy operation and autonomous feeding,and thus is worth promoting for nasal feeding patients clinically.[Chinese Medical Equipment Journal,2025,46(2):108-111]

Background and Aims:Papillary thyroid carcinoma(PTC)is the most common endocrine malignancy in China,with cervical lymph node metastasis being a frequent and critical clinical feature that directly affects patient prognosis and recurrence risk.In recent years,with the rapid increase in the prevalence of overweight and obesity in China,the role of body mass index(BMI)in various tumors has attracted growing attention.This study aimed to investigate the association between overweight and cervical LNM in PTC,analyze sex-specific differences and influencing factors,and provide evidence for precise clinical management.Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinicopathologic data of 1 445 patients with classical PTC treated at Xiangya Hospital of Central South University between August 2021 and June 2022.Patients were divided into groups based on the presence or absence of lymph node metastasis.Restricted cubic spline analysis explored the nonlinear relationship between BMI and lymph node metastasis risk.Univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analyses were applied to identify independent risk factors.Furthermore,sex-stratified analysis was performed among overweight patients(BMI≥24 kg/m2)to determine sex-specific risk factors for lymph node metastasis.Results:Among all patients,716(49.6%)had lymph node metastasis.Univariate analysis showed that BMI,sex,age,tumor diameter,multifocality,and extrathyroidal extension were significantly associated with cervical lymph node metastasis in PTC patients(all P<0.05).A nonlinear positive correlation was observed between BMI and lymph node metastasis risk,which was more pronounced in male patients.Additionally,BMI was positively correlated with triglyceride levels and negatively correlated with high-density lipoprotein cholesterol.Sex-stratified analysis revealed that in overweight male patients,younger age(OR=0.954),larger tumor diameter(OR=1.085),and multifocality(OR=2.776)were independent risk factors for LNM;in overweight female patients,younger age(OR=0.943)and larger tumor diameter(OR=1.074)were the main influencing factors.Conclusion:Overweight is closely associated with cervical lymph node metastasis in PTC,and the high-risk factors for LNM differ between male and female overweight patients.Young age,larger tumor size,and multifocality in overweight males,and young age and larger tumors in overweight females indicate a higher risk of metastasis.It is recommended that high-risk populations receive enhanced preoperative evaluation and individualized lymph node dissection strategies to achieve precise treatment and improved risk control.

OBJECTIVE: To elucidate the specific mechanisms by which electroacupuncture (EA) alleviates anxiety and fear behaviors associated with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), focusing on the role of lipocalin-2 (Lcn2). METHODS: The PTSD mouse model was subjected to single prolonged stress and shock (SPS&S), and the animals received 15 min sessions of EA at Shenmen acupoint (HT7). Behavioral tests were used to investigate the effects of EA at HT7 on anxiety and fear. Western blotting and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay were used to quantify Lcn2 and inflammatory cytokine levels in the prefrontal cortex (PFC). Additionally, the activity of PFC neurons was evaluated by immunofluorescence and in vivo electrophysiology. RESULTS: Mice subjected to SPS&S presented increased anxiety- and fear-like behaviors. Lcn2 expression in the PFC was significantly upregulated following SPS&S, leading to increased expression of the proinflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-6 and suppression of PFC neuronal activity. However, EA at HT7 inhibited Lcn2 release, reducing neuroinflammation and hypoexcitability in the PFC. Lcn2 overexpression mitigated the effects of EA at HT7, resulting in anxiety- and fear-like behaviors. CONCLUSION EA at HT7 can ameliorate PTSD-associated anxiety and fear, and its mechanism of action appears to involve the inhibition of Lcn2-mediated neural activity and inflammation in the PFC. OBJECTIVE: To explore the early efficacy and safety of hip arthroscopy in the treatment of patients with borderline developmental dysplasia of the hip(BDDH). METHODS: A total of 111 patients diagnosed with BDDH from January 2020 to December 2022 were selected and divided into two groups according to the surgical method. Among them, 63 patients who underwent arthroscopy were assigned to the arthroscopy group, including 22 males and 41 females with an average age of (35.67±6.83) years;48 patients who underwent periacetabular osteotomy were assigned to the PAO group, including 18 males and 30 females with an average age of (36.85±7.10) years. The operation time, hospital stay, blood loss, rehabilitation time, complication rate, and reoperation rate were recorded in both groups. Imaging indicators of the two groups were measured and recorded. The modified Harris hip score (mHHS), nonarthritic hip score (NAHS), and hip outcome score-activity of daily living scale (HOS-ADL) were used to evaluate hip function and quality of life before and after surgery. RESULTS: All patients were followed up for 12 months. The operation time (90.43±9.85) min, hospital stay(4.32±0.56) days, rehabilitation time (15.22±2.15) weeks, blood loss (25.69±6.57) ml, and number of complications (15 cases) in the arthroscopy group were all lower than those in the PAO group (117.25±15.83) min, (5.81±0.92) days, (21.10±3.74) weeks, (358.52±126.73) ml, 30 cases, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). At the last follow-up after treatment, the lateral center edge angle (LCEA) (19.82±1.90)° and anterior center edge angle (ACEA) (20.01±1.85)° in the arthroscopy group decreased compared with those before treatment (21.43±2.10)°, (21.54±2.05)°, while in the PAO group, the LCEA (33.03±3.45)° and ACEA (33.48±4.22)° at the last follow-up after treatment increased compared with those before treatment, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The T?nnis angle in the arthroscopy group after treatment (11.05±1.83)° increased compared with that before treatment, while in the PAO group, the T?nnis angle at the last follow-up after treatment (2.98±0.75)° decreased compared with that before treatment, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). In the arthroscopy group, the extrusion index (30.68±2.85) and T?nnis grade after treatment increased compared with those before treatment, while the α angle after treatment (38.79±4.27)° significantly decreased compared with that before treatment, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05);in the PAO group, the extrusion index (15.03±2.18) and α angle (53.58±6.02)° after treatment significantly decreased compared with those before treatment, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The mHHS score at the last follow-up after treatment in the arthroscopy group (86.41±7.33) was higher than that in the PAO group (81.02±6.49), with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05). At 6 months after treatment, the NAHS (69.83±6.53) and HOS-ADL scores (78.84±7.39) in the arthroscopy group were higher than those in the PAO group (64.10±6.02), (75.31±7.01), with statistically significant differences (P<0.01);at the last follow-up after treatment, the NAHS (87.63±7.60) and HOS-ADL scores (88.94±8.11) in the arthroscopy group were higher than those in the PAO group (81.63±7.03), (83.63±7.92), with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). CONCLUSION Compared with PAO, hip arthroscopy shows better early to mid-term clinical efficacy in the treatment of BDDH patients. However, PAO has more advantages in improving acetabular imaging indicators of BDDH patients, while hip arthroscopy only improves the α angle of patients. Meanwhile, hip arthroscopy causes less trauma to patients, reduces blood loss, and is more conducive to the subsequent recovery of patients.

OBJECTIVES: To analyze the clinical characteristics of diffuse panbronchiolitis (DPB) in children and to enhance the clinical diagnosis and treatment of this disease. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 6 children diagnosed with DPB who were hospitalized at The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University from January 2011 to December 2019. RESULTS: Among the 6 patients, there were 2 males and 4 females; the age at diagnosis ranged from 7 to 12 years. All patients presented with cough, sputum production, and exertional dyspnea, and all had a history of sinusitis. Two cases showed positive serum cold agglutinin tests, and 5 cases exhibited pathological changes consistent with chronic bronchiolitis. High-resolution chest CT in all patients revealed centrilobular nodules diffusely distributed throughout both lungs with a tree-in-bud appearance. Five patients received low-dose azithromycin maintenance therapy, but 3 showed inadequate treatment response. After empirical anti-tuberculosis treatment, non-tuberculous Mycobacteria were found in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid. Follow-up over 2 years showed 1 case cured, 3 cases significantly improved, and 2 cases partially improved. CONCLUSIONS The clinical presentation of DPB is non-specific and can easily lead to misdiagnosis. In cases where DPB is clinically diagnosed but does not show improvement with low-dose azithromycin treatment, special infections should be considered.

Objective:To investigate the impact of ionizing radiation(IR)on the structure and function of the testis and pro-vide some strategies for the prevention and treatment of IR-induced damage(IRD).Methods:Using radiation dose simulation,se-men analysis,hormone testing,electron microscopy and single-cell transcriptome sequencing,we assessed and analyzed a case of IRD.We established a mouse model of IRD to validate the results of single-cell sequencing,and investigated the specific biological mecha-nisms of IRD and potential strategies for its intervention.Results:IR at 1-2 Gy significantly reduced sperm concentration and mo-tility,which gradually recovered after 12 months but the percentage of morphologically normal sperm remained low.It also caused im-balanced levels of various steroid hormones,decreased testosterone and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate,increased progesterone,prolac-tin,luteinizing hormone,and follicle-stimulating hormone.Electron microscopy revealed damages to the testis structure,including loss of germ cells,atrophy of the seminiferous tubules,nuclear membrane depression of the spermatocytes,mitochondrial atrophy and de-formation,and reduction of mitochondrial cristae.Single-cell sequencing indicated significant changes in the function of the Leydig cells and macrophages and disrupted lipid-related metabolic pathways after IRD.Administration of L-carnitine to the mouse model im-proved lipid metabolism disorders and partially alleviated IRD to the germ cells.Conclusion:Ionizing radiation can cause disorders of testicular spermatogenesis and sexual hormones and inhibit lipid metabolism pathways in Leydig cells and macrophages.Improving lipid metabolism can alleviate IRD to germ cells.
