Objective:To investigate the expression profiles of the vascular permeability factor (VPF) family and homocysteine (Hcy) levels in early pregnancy and their predictive value for pregnancy outcomes in women with preeclampsia.Methods:Clinical data from 168 pregnant women with preeclampsia who were treated at the Cangzhou People′s Hospital between February 2022 and February 2024 were collected, including 114 with non-severe preeclampsia and 54 with severe preeclampsia. Additionally, 100 healthy pregnant women with matched clinical data were included as controls. Differences in serum levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-A, VEGF-B, placental growth factor (PLGF), and Hcy were compared between the control group and the preeclampsia group, as well as among subgroups of preeclampsia with different severity levels and pregnancy outcomes. Logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate factors influencing adverse pregnancy outcomes in women with preeclampsia. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were plotted, and the area under the curve (AUC) was calculated to assess the predictive performance of each factor for adverse pregnancy outcomes.Results:Serum levels of VEGF-A and PLGF in the preeclampsia group during early pregnancy were (95.45±10.65)pg/ml and (105.49±16.63)pg/ml, respectively, significantly lower than those in the control group. Hcy levels were (24.50±5.74)μmol/L, significantly higher than those in the control group (all P<0.05). In the severe preeclampsia subgroup, VEGF-A and PLGF levels were (89.83±9.05)pg/ml and (94.61±15.98)pg/ml, significantly lower than those in the non-severe subgroup. Hcy levels were (26.86±5.92)μmol/L, significantly higher than those in the non-severe subgroup (all P<0.05). Among women with adverse pregnancy outcomes, VEGF-A and PLGF levels were (87.29±7.55)pg/ml and (89.43±12.80)pg/ml, significantly lower than those in women with normal outcomes. Hcy levels were (28.60±5.76)μmol/L, significantly higher than those in women with normal outcomes (all P<0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that VEGF-A and PLGF were protective factors against adverse pregnancy outcomes, while Hcy was a risk factor (all P<0.05). ROC analysis showed that the AUC values for VEGF-A, PLGF, Hcy alone, and their combination in predicting adverse pregnancy outcomes were 0.827, 0.895, 0.778, and 0.965, respectively (all P<0.05). Conclusions:Changes in serum levels of VEGF-A, PLGF, and Hcy in early pregnancy are associated with the risk of preeclampsia. Combined detection of these markers in early pregnancy has high predictive value for pregnancy outcomes in women with preeclampsia.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)is a major histological subtype of esopha-geal cancer with a poor prognosis.Although several serum metabolomic investigations have been reported,ESCC tumor-associated metabolic alterations and predictive biomarkers in sera have not been defined.Here,we enrolled 34 treatment-naive patients with ESCC and collected their pre-and post-esophagectomy sera together with the sera from 34 healthy volunteers for a metabo-lomic survey.Our comprehensive analysis identified ESCC tumor-associated metabolic alterations as represented by a panel of 12 serum metabolites.Notably,postoperative abrosia and parenteral nutrition substantially perturbed the serum metabolome.Furthermore,we performed an examina-tion using sera from carcinogen-induced mice at the dysplasia and ESCC stages and identified three ESCC tumor-associated metabolites conserved between mice and humans.Notably,among these metabolites,the level of pipecolic acid was observed to be progressively increased in mouse sera from dysplasia to cancerization,and it could be used to accurately discriminate between mice at the dysplasia stage and healthy control mice.Furthermore,this metabolite is essential for ESCC cells to restrain oxidative stress-induced DNA damage and cell proliferation arrest.Together,this study revealed a panel of 12 ESCC tumor-associated serum metabolites with potential for monitor-ing therapeutic efficacy and disease relapse,presented evidence for refining parenteral nutrition composition,and highlighted serum pipecolic acid as an attractive biomarker for predicting ESCC tumorigenesis.

Objective To investigate the related factors and preventive measures of delayed gastric emptying after operation for esophageal and cardiac carcinoma.Methods A total of 45 patients with delayed gastric emptying after operation for esophageal and cardiac carcinoma were selected as observation group,and 45 patients without delayed gastric emptying after operation for esophageal and cardiac carcinoma were selected as control group.Differences in the relevant factors were compared between the two groups.Results Single factor analysis showed that older age,high body mass index,short time education,malnutrition,poor mental state,rural residence,surgical incision,blood loss,long operation time,postoperative analgesia pump application,and the large amount of fluid volume were related risks of delayed gastric emptying (P ＜ 0.05).The Logistic regression analysis showed that older age (OR =4.15,95 ％ CI:1.89 ～ 26.30),bad psychological reaction (OR =3.96,95％ CI:1.38 ～ 25.38),long operation time (OR =3.40,95％ CI:1.11 ～ 20.28) and malnutrition (OR =3.02,95％ CI:1.09 ～ 19.35) were independent factors of delayed gastric emptying.Conclusion Delayed gastric emptying is one of the common complications after operation for esophageal and cardiac carcinoma,and the influencing factors are complex.

Objective To demonstrate the X-ray and CT features of breast hydatid disease.Methods Of 11 patients with pathologically confirmed breast Echinococcus hydatid disease were collected and the X-ray and CT image data were analyzed.Results Of 11 patients with hydatid cysts,single cyst was found in 9 patients which one cyst was ruptured due to trauma,multiple cyst in 2 patients.Mammography showed small or large shadow in different size,with low or high density and smooth margin.Calcification was found in 5 and 2 patients with egg shell-like calcification along the wall of cyst,3 patients with spotted calcification within cyst.One case had cavity-like change (annular solar eclipse sign).Cystic lesion with a complete capsule was demonstrated on CT scan in 1 patient.Conclusion Molybdenum target mammography can accurately display the imaging characteristics of hydatid cyst and improve the diagnostic ability of breast hydatid cyst in combination with clinical and epidemiological data.
