With the rapid development and widespread application of microwave technology,people's lives and work have been made more convenient.However,the health of those who are constantly exposed to complex microwave environments is also threatened.In recent years,many studies have found that long-term exposure to micro waves can cause damage to cognitive function.However,the damage mechanism has not been fully understood.This article reviews the research progress of microwave radiation on cognitive function in recent years,the damage mechanism,and the related drugs for protection and treatment,in order to provide references for research in this field.

Objective:To explore differences in the radiation-induced intestinal injury in mice exposed to ultra-high dose rate (FLASH) and conventional-dose-rate (CONV) pulsed X-ray irradiation in order to provide evidence for the application of ultra-high dose rate pulsed X-rays in gastrointestinal radiotherapy.Methods:Using the random number table method, 32 C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into four groups: a sham irradiation group (SHAM), two conventional dose rate groups (CONV0.067 and CONV0.1), and an ultra-high dose rate group (F215), with each group containing eight mice. All groups, except SHAM, received a single 12 Gy abdominal X-ray irradiation at dose rates of 0.067, 0.1, and 215 Gy/s, respectively. At 3 d post-irradiation, histopathological (hematoxylin-eosin staining, HE staining), immunohistochemical, and Western blot analysis were performed to assess the histopathological markers and oxidative stress indicators of intestinal tissues, as well as relevant proteins involved in signaling pathways.Results:At 3 d post-irradiation, mice in all irradiation groups suffered from varying degrees of intestinal tissue degeneration and necrosis, epithelial cell shedding, villus shortening, and crypt loss ( t = 5.75, 8.79, 5.71, P < 0.05). Regarding oxidative stress, at 3 d post-irradiation, mice in the CONV0.067 and CONV0.1 groups showed significantly lower levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX), glutathione (GSH), and total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) compared to those in the F215 group ( t = 7.06-10.64, P < 0.01). In contrast, their malondialdehyde (MDA) levels were significantly elevated ( t = 11.06, 8.31, P < 0.01), with no statistical significance observed between them and mice in the F215 group ( P > 0.05). Immunohistochemical and Western blot analyses indicated that at 3 d post-irradiation, mice in the three irradiation groups exhibited an upward trend in the Nrf2 and HO-1 protein levels and a downward trend in the Keap1 protein level compared to those in the SHAM group. Notably, statistical significance was observed between the F215 group and the two conventional dose rate groups ( t = 4.89-20.95, P < 0.05). These result were consistent with the prior changes in antioxidant markers. Conclusions:Ultra-high-dose-rate X-ray irradiation reduces acute RIII by alleviating oxidative stress and modulating the expression of the Keap1-Nrf2-HO-1 signaling pathway.

Objective:To observe the correlation between the level of advanced glycosylation end products (AGE) in skin and diabetic retinopathy (DR), and establish and preliminatively verify the nomogramolumbaric model for predicting the risk of DR.Methods:A clinical case-control study. A total of 346 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) who were admitted to the Department of Endocrinology and Ophthalmology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 2023 to June 2024 were included in the study. Among them, 198 were males and 148 were females. The mean age was (54.77±10.92). According to whether the patients were accompanied by DR, the patients were divided into the non-DR group (NDR group) and the DR group (DR group), 174 and 172 cases, respectively. All patients underwent skin AGE detection using a noninvasive diabetes detector. Diabetes duration, hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), fasting plasma glucose, Urea, creatinine (Crea), uric acid, total cholesterol, triglyceride, estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), urinary albumin concentration (UALB), and body mass index (BMI) were collected in detail. Univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to determine the independent risk factors for T2DM concurrent DR, and to construct a nomogram prediction model for DR risk. Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC curve), calibration curve and decision curve (DCA) were used to evaluate the model.Results:Hypertension prevalence rate ( χ2=3.892), Diabetes duration ( Z=?7.708), BMI ( Z=?2.627), HbA1c ( Z=?4.484), Urea ( Z=?4.620), Crea ( Z=?3.526), UALB ( Z=?6.999), AGE ( Z=?8.097) in DR group were significantly higher than those in NDR group, with statistical significance ( P<0.05); eGFR was lower than that in NDR group, the difference was statistically significant ( Z=?6.061, P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that AGE, diabetes duration, HbA1c, UALB and eGFR were independent risk factors for DR ( P<0.05). Based on the results of multi-factor regression analysis, a nomogram prediction model was constructed. The area under ROC curve of the model was 0.843, 95% confidence interval was 0.802-0.884, sensitivity and specificity were 79.1% and 75.9%, respectively. The calibration curve was basically consistent with the ideal curve. The results of DCA analysis showed that when the model predicted the risk threshold of patients with DR between 0.17 and 0.99, the clinical net benefit provided by the nomogram model was> 0. Conclusions:Skin AGE level is an independent risk factor for DR. The nomogram prediction model based on AGE, diabetes duration, HbA1c, eGFR and UALB can accurately predict the risk of DR, and has good clinical practicability.

Objective:To analyze the clinical and radiological features of patients with resected pancreatic serous cystic neoplasm (SCN).Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical and radiological data of 172 patients with pancreatic SCN who underwent surgical resection and were pathological confirmed at Peking Union Medical College Hospital from September 2014 to April 2022. These patients were categorized into two cohorts including 2014—2018 cohort ( n=84) and 2019—2022 ( n=88) for comparative analysis based on the operation time. Results:The radiological diagnostic accuracy for SCN was found to be notably low at 11.6%(20/172), which was mostly misdiagnosed as mucinous cystic neoplasms (86/172, 50.0%) and intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (35/172, 20.3%). No statistically significant variance was observed on the misdiagnosis rate between the two cohorts. There was a substantial increase of the number of lesions located in pancreatic body and tail (76.1% vs 53.6%, P=0.004) and a marked decrease in the number of those located in pancreatic head and neck (22.7% vs 39.3%, P=0.019) in 2019-2022 cohort, compared to the 2014-2018 cohort. Furthermore, there was a significant reduction in the occurrence of SCN calcification and peri-lesional venous alterations (22.8% vs 45.1%, P=0.006; 25.0% vs 46.4%, P=0.003), a decrease in the presence of fibrous scarring within SCN (31.8% vs 45.2%, P=0.070), and an increase in cases with dilatation of the upstream main pancreatic duct (28.2% vs 16.3%, P=0.065). The clinical characteristics and the rate of postoperative complications did not significantly differ between the two cohorts. Complication rates after pancreatoduodenectomy were significantly higher than those following distal pancreatectomy (46.4% vs 22.9%, P=0.010). The presence of clinical symptoms was significantly linked to the size of SCN and the expansion of the main pancreatic duct (45.4% vs 29.3%, P=0.032; 64.9% vs 31.2%, P<0.001). Conclusions:The accuracy of preoperative radiological diagnosis for SCN is still low, with a noted increase in the proportion of SCN exhibiting atypical radiological features in recent years. The frequency of postoperative complications is relatively high and does not have an obvious decreased trend.

Objective:To investigate the effects of regular yoga practice on pulmonary function and mechanical parameters of diaphragm.Methods:Eighty regular yoga practitioners, including 40 practicing for≤5 year (yoga≤5 years group) and 40 for>5 year (yoga>5 years group) were recruited in Shanxi Norman Bethune Hospital from January 2024 to April 2024; and 40 sedentary subjects were also recruited as the control group. The diaphragmatic motion was evaluated by two-dimensional ultrasound and speckle tracking ultrasound in all subjects, the parameters, including displacement, fractional thickening, strain and strain rate of diaphragm were observed at rest and deep breathing. At the same time, the pulmonary function tests were performed, the indexes including forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV 1) and one-second rate (FEV 1/FVC) were measured in all subjects. The mechanical parameters of diaphragm and the pulmonary function were compared among three groups. Results:There were no significant differences in gender ( χ2= 0.346), age ( F=1.16), height ( F=0.45), weight ( F=0.11) and body mass index (BMI) ( F=0.07) among the three groups (all P>0.05).At the rest status, there was no significant difference in diaphragm displacement, thickening rate and strain among three groups ( F=1.21, 2.10 and 0.23,all P>0.05); the strain rate of yoga>5 years group was lower than that of other two groups ( t=-4.23、-4.10, all P<0.05); however, there was no significant difference between yoga≤5 years group and control group ( t=-0.06, P>0.05). During deep breathing, the increment of displacement, thickening rate, strain and strain rate of diaphragm in yoga>5 years group was larger than that in other tow groups, while the increment of yoga≤5 years group was larger than that in control group ( F=25.82, 60.99, 17.29 and 52.46, all P<0.05); the increment of FVC, FEV 1 and FEV 1/FVC in yoga>5 years group was larger than other two groups, whilc the increment of yoga≤5 years group was larger than that of sedentary group (F=4.49, 7.32 and 39.71, all P<0.05). The diaphragmatic displacement was positively correlated with FVC ( r=0.290, P<0.05), and diaphragmatic displacement and thickening rate were positively correlated with FEV 1 and FEV 1/FVC (0.333 and 0.448, 0.231 and 0.599, all P<0.05), the strain and strain rate of diaphragm were negatively correlated with FEV 1 and FEV 1/FVC ( r=-0.399 and -0.719, -0.355 and -0.796, all P<0.05). Conclusion:The regular yoga practice can improve the movement capacity and efficiency of diaphragm, improve the pulmonary function, and there is a negative correlation between the strain rate and the mechanical parameters of diaphragm and FEV 1, FEV 1/FVC.

Objective:To analyze common respiratory pathogens epidemiology in hospitalized children with lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI) in a single center in Shanghai, and to provide the basic data support for clinical diagnosis and treatment of children with LRTI in Shanghai.Methods:Children with LRTI in Children′s Hospital of Fudan University were enrolled from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2019, and respiratory samples were collected and tested by direct immunofluorescence assay and real time polymerase chain reaction. The epidemiological characteristics of different respiratory pathogens were analyzed. Chi-square test was used for statistical analysis.Results:A total of 18 716 children were included, the total detection rate of respiratory pathogens was 36.96% (6 918/18 716), and the most frequent detected pathogen was Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) (15.31%(2 866/18 716)), followed by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) (10.40%(1 946/18 716)) and parainfluenza virus Ⅲ (PIV-Ⅲ) (4.65%(871/18 716)). The detection rate of pathogens in female was significantly higher than that in male (38.48%(2 936/7 630) vs 35.92%(3 982/11 086), χ2=12.72, P<0.001). RSV and influenza virus A (Flu-A) infections peaked in winter. The detection rates of influenza virus B (Flu-B) and human metapneumovirus (MPV) were higher in winter and spring. PIV-Ⅲ infection peaked in spring and summer. The peak of PIV-Ⅱ infection occurred in summer and autumn. The infections of adenovirus (ADV), MP, Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) and PIV-Ⅰ were prevalent throughout the year without significant seasonality. The detection rate of RSV declined with age, while the detection rate of MP increased with age. The co-infection rate was 1.65%(309/18 716), and the predominant co-infection type was MP and RSV (0.37%(70/18 716)). Conclusions:A variety of pathogens lead to children′s LRTI in Shanghai from 2015 to 2019, with the common infection of MP, RSV and PIV-Ⅲ. Different pathogens showed different epidemiological characteristics in age and season distributions.

Objective: To choose the corresponding teaching methods according to different teaching stage in the teaching of pathology for five-year clinical students, and to analyze the difference of teaching effects between staged-teaching and traditional teaching. Methods: Students were randomly divided into two groups, with 112 in the experimental group and 118 in the control group. Considering that the teaching content in the experimental group contained the general introduction and different sections and students might experience stages such as "knowledge memorizing", "pathology-clinical connection" and "knowledge application", so presentation, assimilation and discussion class (PAD class), blending teaching and flipped classroom were adopted respectively. Examination scores and questionnaire survey were used to evaluate the difference between two teaching ways. SPSS 19.0 was used for data analysis, and t-test and chi-square test were used for inter-group comparison. Results: The pathological average score of students in the experimental group was (78.56±7.172), which was higher than (72.53±8.539) in the control group, with statistically significant difference (t=5.809, P=0.000). According to the questionnaire survey, the teaching effects using different teaching methods in different stages in the experimental group was superior than that in the control group, with statistically significant difference (P<0.01). Conclusion Using different teaching methods in different stages is beneficial to guide students for truly comprehending the knowledge, applicating appropriate learning methods, and gradually forming their self-learning ability.

Objective This study was conducted to analyze the clinical characteristics and pituitary function of patients with primary empty sella (PES).Methods The clinical data from 123 hospitalized adult patients with PES from January 2010 to May 2016 were retrospectively studied.Results (1) The average age of the 123 (male 43,female 80) PES patients was (59.2 ± 13.6) years (ranging 24-92 years),among whom 61％ patients were in the age group between 50-69 years.(2) The symptoms of the patients included fatigue (56.1％),headache (34.1％),nausea and vomiting (17.9％),gonadal dysfunction (17.1％),visual disturbance (5.7％) and hypopituitarism crisis (3.3％).(3) Hypopituitarism was found in 66 of the 123 patients.Among them,36.6％,31.7％ and 17.1％ were central hypoadrenalism,hypogonadism,and hypothyroidism,respectively.The percentage of hypopituitarism in complete PES was significantly higher than that in partial PES (P ＜ 0.05).(4) Sixteen patients were concomitant with other autoimmune diseases including 11 patients with Graves' disease and 2 with Cushing's syndrome due to adrenal adenoma.Conclusions The incidence of hypopituitarism in PES was 53.7％,in which the pituitary-adrenal axis hypofunction was more common.An overall evaluation of the pituitary function was essential for the patients who had headache and fatigue,or with suspected PES.The patients with hypopituitarism should be given hormone replacement therapy in time and followed up afterword.
