1.The effect of Ba Duan Jin on the balance of community-dwelling older adults: a cluster randomized control trial

Objective:To assess the effectiveness of a 6-month Ba Duan Jin exercise program in improving the balance of community-dwelling older adults.Methods:A two arms, parallel-group, cluster randomized controlled trial was conducted in 1 028 community residents aged 60-80 years in 40 communities in 5 provinces of China. Participants in the intervention group (20 communities, 523 people) received Ba Duan Jin exercise 5 days/week, 1 hour/day for 6 months, and three times of falls prevention health education, and the control group (20 communities, 505 people) received falls prevention health education same as the intervention group. The Berg balance scale (BBS) score was the leading outcome indicator, and the secondary outcome indicators included the length of time of standing on one foot (with eyes open and closed), standing in a tandem stance (with eyes open and closed), the closed circle test, and the timed up to test.Results:A total of 1 028 participants were included in the final analysis, including 731 women (71.11%) and 297 men (28.89%), and the age was (69.87±5.67) years. After the 3-month intervention, compared with the baseline data, the BBS score of the intervention group was significantly higher than the control group by 3.05 (95% CI: 2.23-3.88) points ( P<0.001). After the 6-month intervention, compared with the baseline data, the BBS score of the intervention group was significantly higher than the control group by 4.70 (95% CI: 4.03-5.37) points ( P<0.001). Ba Duan Jin showed significant improvement ( P<0.05) in all secondary outcomes after 6 months of exercise in the intervention group compared with the control group. Conclusions:This study showed that Ba Duan Jin exercise can improve balance in community-dwelling older adults aged 60-80. The longer the exercise time, the better the improvement.
2.Epidemiological investigation of risk factors for cataract among people aged 50 and over in Tacheng area, Xinjiang

Objective:To investigate the prevalence of cataract and its risk factors in the Jiu Shi Hospital of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and Han and Kazak people aged 50 years old and over in Emin County, Tacheng area, Xinjiang.Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted.An epidemiological survey on the prevalence of cataract among people aged 50 years old and over was performed by the Department of Ophthalmology of North China University of Science and Technology Affiliated Hospital in the Jiu Shi Hospital of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and Emin County from October 2015 to June 2018.The basic sampling units (BSUs) were divided according to the administrative regions, with about 1 000 people in each administrative region.With a population exceeding 1 500, sample units would be divided into more than two BSUs according to the population.Xinjiang Tacheng area was divided into 240 BSUs, and 12 BSUs were selected by random number table method for inspection.With the lens opacity classification system Ⅱ (LOCS Ⅱ) as the diagnostic standard, the prevalence rate of cataract in different nationalities and different ages in this area was evaluated, and the relationship between age, nationality, sex, hypertension, diabetes, smoking, hyperlipidemia, coronary heart disease, ultraviolet irradiation time and the prevalence rate of cataract was analyzed.This study protocol was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Jiu Shi Hospital of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (No.SW-201501-04).Results:The prevalence rate of cataract among people aged 50 and over in the Jiu Shi Hospital of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and Emin County was 76.34%.The prevalence rate of cataract in 50-<60-year-old group, 60-<70-year-old group, 70-<80-year-old group and ≥80-year-old group was 23.30%, 77.40%, 89.60% and 100.00%, respectively.There were significant differences in the prevalence among people between different ages, different nationalities, with and without hypertension, with and without diabetes, with and without hyperlipidemia (all at P<0.01). There was no significant difference in the prevalence among people between different sexes, with and without coronary heart disease, smoking or not, different ultraviolet irradiation time (all at P>0.05). Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that age (50-<60 years old: [ OR=39.93, 95% CI: 20.77-76.77; 60-<70 years old: OR=3.81, 95% CI: 2.05-7.08; 70-<80 years old: OR=1.72, 95% CI: 0.92-3.22]), hypertension ( OR=1.54, 95% CI: 1.13-2.11) and hyperlipidemia ( OR=1.41, 95% CI: 1.10-2.03) were independent risk factors for cataract. Conclusions:The incidence of cataract in the Jiu Shi Hospital of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and people aged 50 and over in Emin County is higher than that in other parts of China, in which age, hypertension and hyperlipidemia are independent risk factors for cataract.
3.Study on the effect and mechanism of SKA1 activated by E2F1 transcription in promoting the proliferation of liver cancer cells

Objective:To investigate whether SKA1 is a key molecule regulating malignant proliferation of liver cancer, and further explore its mechanism to provide molecular theoretical basis for subsequent targeted therapy.Methods:The data of liver cancer from TCGA database were analyzed by bioinformatics technology. The expression of SKA1 in liver cancer was analyzed. At the same time, we also analyzed the relationship between the expression of SKA1 and the prognosis of patients with liver cancer. The hepatoma cell line overexpressing SKA1 was constructed by liposome-mediated cell transfection technique, and the effect of SKA1 on the proliferation of hepatoma cells was further tested by CCK-8 and plate cloning assay. At the same time, we found that E2F1 is also highly expressed in liver cancer, using bioinformatics technology to analyze the correlation between SKA1 and E2F1 expression, further detecting the binding site of E2F1 in the SKA1 promoter region, and using dual luciferase technology to detect E2F1 against SKA1. Transcriptional activation.Results:KA1 was highly expressed in liver cancer tissues, and the overall survival rate of liver cancer patients with high SKA1 expression was 49.8%, lower than that of patients with low SKA1 expression, showing a negative correlation. E2F1 is also highly expressed in liver cancer tissues, and the survival time of patients with liver cancer with high E2F1 expression is significantly lower than that in the low expression group, which was negatively correlated with poor prognosis. SKA1 overexpression could increase the proliferation ability of liver cancer cells by nearly 50%. SKA1 is regulated by the E2F1 transcription factor, and the E2F1 transcription factor is combined with the SKA1 promoter to transcriptionally activate the expression of SKA1 in liver cancer cells.Conclusion:E2F1 transcriptional activation of SKA1 promotes proliferation of hepatoma cells, leading to poor prognosis in patients with liver cancer
4.The Breast Cancer Cohort Study in Chinese Women: research design and preliminary results of clinical multi-center cohort

Objective:The incidence of breast cancer in Chinese women continues to rise. The large breast cancer cohort studies in China are relatively scarce. There are many bottlenecks in the construction of large clinical cohort for breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and prognoses, such as inconsistent standards, high rates of lost follow-up, repeated construction, and inability to share. To better solving the difficulties and problems faced by large-scale clinical cohort research in China, this project will cooperate with several tertiary A hospitals to establish a breast cancer cohort in Chinese women. It also provides a data platform and technical support for breast cancer multi-center clinical cohort research.Methods:Based on the evidence-based medicine and expert opinion and consensus, we established a breast cancer cohort standardized indicator set-recording baseline information, diagnosis and treatment-related information of the enrolled patients, and collecting biological specimens. According to the technical specification of long-term follow-up for the endpoint, data management, and data security and in the large population-based cohort study, a standardized follow-up system for the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of breast cancer prospective cohorts is formed.Results:Based on standardized data sets and the computer discipline’s advantage from the University of Science and Technology Beijing, we integrate the new information technology methods, including dynamic information collection terminals and social networks. Thus, the quality of control programs on compliance and intelligence data was improved, and a Chinese women breast cancer cohort database was developed. By February 2020, 12 147 patients were included in the clinical cohort database. Biological specimens’resources in cohort construction were collected and cooperated with Shandong University to research the multi-center quality control system and shared evaluation system of biobanks. Building an open and shared biobank network and forming a full chain of breast cancer research platform.Conclusion:With the implementation of the "13 th Five-Year Plan" precision medicine research, this study provides a research foundation for precision diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer and provides data support for the country to formulate relevant medical policies.

Objective:Biobank construction plays an irreplaceable role in the research of accurate prevention and treatment of diseases. Shared biobank network based on a large crowd queue is the way of the future. This subject is one of the key contents of national precision medicine "The Breast Cancer Cohort Study in Chinese Women: (BCCS-CW)" , aiming to solve the bottleneck of insufficient standardization and sharing.Methods:The establishment of "entity library-information library-extension library" , the widely Shared network of biobank of breast cancer specific disease cohort, and the establishment of strict standard setting and quality control standard to construct the standardized biobank.Results:This biobank provides a shared biobank resource for breast cancer risk assessment, prediction and early warning, early screening, classification, individualized treatment, efficacy and safety prediction and monitoring and other accurate prevention and treatment programs and clinical decision-making system research.Conclusion:The data of this biological sample bank is refined and complete, and the sample size of cases is sufficient, which can meet the research needs of medical big data, genomics, metabonomics, epigenetics and other fields.
6.Future challenges and solutions for safety in China: China CDC's exploration of injury prevention strategies

China is serving as a model for other countries in the world, especially for developing countries, and China's experiences have great implications for them. Besides the description of the present situation and trends of China's injury prevention work and review for its development history, this paper has also introduced the existing issues and the current challenges, and informed the efforts of the staff in related field to find solutions from different aspects. All of them jointly boosted the development of global injury prevention.
7.Disease burden on drowning in the Chinese population, in 1990 and 2013

Objective To comprehensively analyze the disease burden of drowning in the Chinese population both at the national and provincial levels in 1990 and 2013,to provide reference for the development of strategies regarding drowning prevention.Methods Both methods related to unified measurement framework and standardized estimation on Global Burden of Disease in 2013,were used.Data on deaths caused by injuries were from the following sources which include:Disease Surveillance Points,the National Maternal and Child Health Surveillance Network,the Death Registration Reporting System of Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention,Death Registration System and death information from Macau and Hong Kong areas of China.Injury-related incidence data was from the National Injury Surveillance System and literature review.Parameters as death/death rate,years of life lost due to premature mortality (YLL)/standardized YLL rate,years living with disability (YLD)/standardized YLD rate and disability-adjusted of life years (DALY)/standardized DALY were used to analyze the disease burden and changing trend on drowning at both the national and all the provincial levels.Results In 2013,the number of deaths due to drowning was 63 619 in China,with the standardized mortality rate as 5.29 per 100 000,accounting for 8.0% of the total injury deaths.Drowning was the fourth leading cause of injury death in the whole population and the first leading cause of injury death among children aged < 5 and 5-14 years old in 2013,with YLL of drowning as 3.49 million person years,YLD as 0.04 million person years,and DALY as 3.53 million person years.Compared with data from 1990,the rates on standardized mortality,standardized YLL,standardized YLD and standardized DALY of drowning all declined in 2013.The five provinces/districts/cities with the highest rates of drowning were Xinjiang (10.08 per 100 000),Jiangxi (8.44 per 100 000),Anhui (7.92 per 100 000),Guizhou (7.77 per 100 000) and Sichuan (7.68 per 100 000).Standardized mortality of drowning reduced in all provinces in 2013.Conclusions Disease burden of drowning in the Chinese population,especially in children,declined significantly in 2013,comparing to 1990.However,drowning remains a serious proble,with children and males in particular,in China.Research regarding prevention on drowning is in great need in the western and central areas where drowning mortalities appeared high.

Objective To explore the disease burden of road injuries in China.Methods The results of Global Burden of Disease 2013 including death rate,disability-adjusted of life years (DALY),years of life lost due to premature mortality (YLL),years lived with disability (YLD),were used to describe the burden caused by road injuries in 2013 and the trends from 1990 to 2013,in China.Results In 2013,there were 313 676 deaths caused by traffic accidents in China.Death rate,rates on DALY,YLL and YLD were 22.52 per 100 000,1 076.54 per 100 000,971.21 per 100 000 and 105.34 per 100 000,respectively.Rates on deaths,YLL and YLD appeared higher in males,pedestrians than in females and other types of road travelers.Burden of injuries caused by traffic accidents was seen higher in those aged 15 to 49-year-old.From 1990 to 2013,the overall death rate on road injuries increased by 0.54 per 100 000 in China,with an increase of 2.34 per 100 000 and 0.81 per 100 000,respectively in males and pedestrians.The rates on DALY,YLL and YLD decreased by 164.21 per 100 000,115.06 per 100 000 and 49.06 per 100 000,respectively.Conclusions During the past 20 years,achievements had been made on road injury prevention and control,with the decrease of disease burden caused by road accidents.Males,young adults and pedestrians should be called for more attention to prevent road injuries.

Objective To provide basic suicide prevention strategy through analyzing the disease burden of suicide in the Chinese population,in 1990 and 2013.Methods Indicators including mortality rate,years of life lost due to premature mortality (YLL),years lived with disability (YLD),and disability-adjusted of life years (DALY) on suicide,were from the results of Global Burden of Disease 2013 and used to describe the burden of disease caused by suicide in Chinese population.Data described the disease burden of suicide in China by comparing the corresponding parameters in 1990 and 2013.Results In 2013,the standard mortality on suicide was 9.08 per 100 000,and 73.39 per 100 000 in the 80 and above year-old,with the highest rates on DALY and YLL seen in the 75-79-year-old.Each parameter related to suicide burden in males appeared higher than that in females.Compare to data in the 1990s,these parameters declined in 2013,especially seen in females.The rate of YLLs/YLDs on suicide was 90.03 in 2013,89.83 in males and 89.00 in females.Conclusion The disease burden of suicide decreased sharply between 1990 and 2013 but was still a serious issue in the elderly that called for more attention.

Objective To analyze the disease burden of falls in Chinese population aged 70 and over,in 1990 and 2013 and to provide evidence for the development of prevention strategies on falls in the elderly.Methods Indicators including mortality rate,years of life lost due to premature mortality (YLL),years lived with disability (YLD) and disability-adjusted of life years (DALY) on falls,were gathered from the results of Global Burden of Disease 2013 and used to describe the disease burden of falls in China by calculating the changing rates on corresponding parameters in 1990 and 2013.Results In 2013,the number of deaths,YLLs,YLDs,DALYs caused by falls among Chinese population aged 70 and over were 48 800,0.44 million person years,0.30 millions person years,and 0.74 million person years,respectively.The standardized mortality rate,rates on YLLs,YLDs and DALYs of falls were 561.71 per 100 000,55.87 per 100 000,373.98 per 100 000 and 929.85 per 100 000,respectively.The burden of falls increased along with the increase of age.Compared with 1990,the number of deaths,YLLs,YLDs and DALYs caused by falls increased by 308.80%,161.01%,54.67% and 104.47%,respectively,in 2013,more seen in males than in females.The standardized mortality rate,YLLs and DALYs caused by falls increased by 63.67%,38.54% and 73.08%,respectively,during 1990 and 2013.However,the standardized YLDs rate fell by 17.90% during the same period.Conclusion Falls caused heavy disease burden which increased in 1990 and 2013 among the Chinese population aged 70 and over.
