1.Analysis of the comparison results of dental CBCT phantoms in radiological health technical service institutions in Guangdong Province, China

Objective To understand the situation of dental cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) quality control testing phantoms in radiation health technical service institutions in Guangdong province, analyze the differences among different phantoms, and provide a reference for dental CBCT quality control testing. Methods The testing phantoms of 49 radiation health technical service institutions were used as the research objects. The designated CBCT equipment was used for scanning and imaging. The Z-score method was used to evaluate the high-contrast resolution, low-contrast resolution, and distance measurement deviation of each phantom. Results The satisfaction rates of various items for the phantoms in 49 institutions ranged from 85.7% to 100%. The distance measurement deviations of four institutions were “suspicious”, and the high-contrast resolution of four institutions and the distance measurement deviation of one institution were “unsatisfactory”. Conclusion The overall performance of dental CBCT quality control testing phantoms in radiological health technical service institutions in Guangdong province is satisfactory. However, there are still some phantoms with poor results in items such as distance measurement deviation and high-contrast resolution. The structural design, material selection, and manufacturing process of the phantom may all affect the results of quality control testing. Therefore, appropriate phantoms, optimized exposure conditions, and suitable reconstruction algorithms should be used in CBCT quality control testing to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
2.Analysis of risk prevention behaviors and influencing factors of HIV infection among young students with MSM

Objective:
To explore the potential category patterns of risk prevention and control behaviors of HIV infection among young students who have sex with men (MSM) and their impact on HIV infection and late detection, aiming to optimize intervention strategies.
Methods:
From September 2017 to December 2024, a total of 1 637 MSM young students in Tianjin were recruited through both online and offline channels. Latent class analysis was applied to classify 11 HIV risk prevention and control behaviors [condom use during the most recent anal sex in the past 6 months, consistent condom use, use of water based lubricants, abstinence from recreational drugs, regular on site professional testing, fixed sexual partners, partner testing, awareness of partner s HIV testing results, testing before sexual activity, nucleic acid testing, and use of pre exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) or post exposure prophylaxis (PEP)]. Multivariate Logistic regression analyzed associations between demographic characteristics/intervention services factors and latent classes. Differences in HIV infection and late detection across behavior patterns were compared.
Results:
HIV risk prevention and control behaviors among MSM students were classified into three latent classes:condom dependent group (38.42%), low prevention group (27.73%), and comprehensive prevention group (33.85%). Students who received condom promotion/testing services were more likely to belong to the comprehensive prevention group ( OR =5.58), while those who received peer education were less likely to the comprehensive prevention group ( OR =0.43) (both P <0.01). Among the MSM student population, the HIV infection rate was 4.83%, with 2.26% of cases detected late. The HIV infection rate (1.45%) and late detection proportion (0.82%) in the comprehensive prevention group were lower than those in the low prevention group (7.89% and 3.83%, respectively) ( χ 2=16.20, 7.31, both P <0.01).
Conclusions
HIV risk prevention and control behaviors among MSM young students exhibit significant heterogeneity. Comprehensive prevention strategies can effectively reduce HIV infection and late detection risks. It is necessary to optimize peer education content and improve the accessibility of diversified prevention measures such as PrEP/PEP to enhance HIV prevention and control.

Interpreting genes of interest is essential for identifying molecular mechanisms, but acquiring such information typically involves tedious manual retrieval. To streamline this process, the fanyi package offers tools to retrieve gene information from sources like National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), significantly enhancing accessibility. Additionally, understanding the latest research advancements and sharing achievements are crucial for junior researchers. However, language barriers often restrict knowledge absorption and career development. To address these challenges, we developed the fanyi package, which leverages artificial intelligence (AI)-driven online translation services to accurately translate among multiple languages. This dual functionality allows researchers to quickly capture and comprehend information, promotes a multilingual environment, and fosters innovation in academic community. Meanwhile, the translation functions are versatile and applicable beyond biomedicine research to other domains as well. The fanyi package is freely available at https://github.com/YuLab-SMU/fanyi.
4.Clinical effect of allogeneic peroneal bone marrow support combined with plate fixation for the treatment of Neer type Ⅳ proximal humeral fractures

Objective To explore clinical effect of allogeneic peroneal bone marrow support combined with plate internal fixation in treating Neer type Ⅳ proximal humeral fractures.Methods From December 2017 to December 2020,12 patients with Neer type Ⅳ proximal humeral fractures were treated with allogeneic peroneal bone marrow support combined with plate internal fixation,including 7 males and 5 females,aged from 56 to 78 years old;the time from injury to operation ranged from 1 to7 days.Operative time,fracture healing time and complications during follow-up were observed,and clinical efficacy was e-valuated by Constant-Murley score at the latest follow-up.Results All patients were obtained follow up for 20 to 29 months.All patients got bone healing and incisicons were healed at stage Ⅰ,operative time ranged from 95 to 138 min,blood loss ranged from 210 to 275 ml,fracture healing time ranged from 14 to 18 weeks.Two patients occurred postoperative shoulder stiffness and recovered after 2 weeks of passive exercise.There were no complications such as infection,poor wound healing,and fail-ure(fracture and loosening)of internal fixators occurred.Constant-Murley shoulder function score ranged from 69 to 89 at the latest follow up,2 patients got excellent results,9 good and 1 fair.Conclusion The application of allogeneic fibular bone mar-row placement could provide effective support for medial humerus,which is conducive to assisting reduction of fracture end,re-ducing occurrence of internal fixation failure caused by collapse of humerus head and screw perforation,and significantly im-proving function of shoulder joint.

6.Genomic and cellular infection characteristics of a newly isolated Mangshi virus in China

The genomic characteristics and cellular tropism of a Mangshi virus(MSV)isolated in China were investigated,thereby establishing a robust foundation for further research on the evolution and pathogenicity of MSV.The genome sequence of MSV strain V301/YNJH/2019 was obtained by next-generation sequencing,followed by phylogenetic tree construction and rearrangement assessment using software IQtree,RPD4,and Simplot.Viral proliferation was assessed in C6/36(Aedes albop-ictus),Vero(African green monkey kidney),and BHK(baby hamster kidney)cells.An initial epidemiological investigation of MSV in local cattle and goats was conducted using the serum neutralization test.The genome of MSV strain V301/YNJ H/2019 was 20623 bp in length,encompassing 12 segments of double-stranded RNA(Seg-1 to Seg-12).Sequence analysis confirmed genomic rearrangement of the Seg-1 and Seg-11 sequences,ex-hibiting high similarity to MSV isolated from lake sediment in China in 2022,while Seg-2 to Seg-10 and Seg-12 were most closely related to a MSV strain isolated from mosquitoes in China in 2013.The virus efficiently proliferated and induced sig-nificant cytopathic effects(CPE)in both C6/36 and BHK cells,but limited replication and no observable CPE in Vero cells.No detectable neutralizing antibodies against MSV were detected in 20 goat serum samples collected in Mangshi,while 2 of 20 bo-vine serum samples were positive with neutralizing antibody titers of 1:128 and 1:54.Whole genome sequencing revealed re-assortment events of the V301/YNJH/2019 strain,which is capable of infecting C6/36,BHK,and Vero cells.MSV infection was confirmed in cattle in Mangshi.
7.Retrospective cohort study on the relationship between Metformin and the risk of dementia in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus

Objective To assess the association between Metformin use and the risk of dementia in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods The research data came from the big medical data platform of Yinzhou District,and we constructed a cohort of T2DM patients who had initiated treatment of Metformin or sulfonylurea since January 1,2009.The inverse probability of treatment weighting(IPTW)was used to control the baseline confounding factors,and the Cox regression model was used to estimate the HR(95%CI)of the association between Metformin use and dementia risk.Results The incidence rate of dementia in new users of Metformin(41181 persons)and sulfonylureas(38092 persons)was 128.4 per 100000 person years and 142.3 per 100000 person years respectively.Compared with sulfonylureas,the crude analysis with no adjustment for confounding factors showed that there was a negative association between the use of Metformin and the incidence of dementia,with an HR(95%CI)0.930(0.800~1.090).After adjusting for potential confounders with IPTW,Metformin was not significantly associated with the risk of dementia HR(95%CI)1.040(0.890~1.220).The subgroup analysis results for different baseline characteristics were consistent with the primary analysis results,and there were no statistically significant associations between Metformin and dementia incidence risk in all subgroups.Conclusions There is no significant association between the use of Metformin and the risk of dementia in T2DM patients in the Yinzhou District.
8.Comparative Study of Two High-sensitivity Cardiac Troponin 0/3-hour Algorithms for the Diagnosis of Non-ST-segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction in the Chinese Population

Objectives:To compare the diagnostic efficacy of non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) and the predictive value for major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) of the 0/3-hour algorithm for high-sensitivity cardiac troponin (hs-cTn) recommended by the 2015 European Society of Cardiology (ESC) guidelines for the management of non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) and the 2021 "Chinese Expert Consensus on Laboratory Testing and Clinical Application of Cardiac Troponin" in suspected acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients in the Chinese population. Methods:This is a multicenter prospective observational study,including 1527 patients with suspected ACS from three clinical centers from January 2017 to September 2020.Plasma hs-cTnI levels were measured using the ARCHITECT assay at the time of presentation and 3 hours later in patients with suspected ACS (test determination).Clinical judgment (independent clinical judgment by cardiac experts,independent of the test results) was used as the gold standard to compare the sensitivity,specificity,and consistency of the two diagnostic algorithms,and to analyze their predictive value for MACE at 30 days and 180 days.MACE in this study was defined as a composite event of cardiovascular death,myocardial infarction,and unplanned coronary revascularization. Results:According to clinical judgment,there were 400 patients with NSTEMI and 1127 patients without NSTEMI.The 0/3-hour algorithm recommended by the 2021 Chinese Expert Consensus showed higher sensitivity in diagnosing NSTEMI than the 2015 ESC guidelines (91.50%[95% CI:88.32%-94.04%]vs.87.75%[95% CI:84.13%-90.80%]),but slightly lower specificity (93.88%[95% CI:92.32%-95.21%]vs.95.56%[95% CI:94.19%-96.69%]),with both differences being statistically significant (both P<0.001).In the follow-up at 30 days and 180 days,the incidence of MACE in patients diagnosed with NSTEMI by both algorithms was higher than in those without NSTEMI (P<0.001).The incidence of MACE at 30 days and 180 days for the group excluded from the diagnosis of NSTEMI by 2015 ESC guidelines was 0.19% and 1.120%,respectively,and for the NSTEMI group was 2.89% and 3.68%,respectively;for the group excluded from NSTEMI by the 2021 Chinese Expert Consensus,the incidence was 0.096% and 0.770%,respectively,and for the NSTEMI group was 2.91% and 4.36%,respectively.Cox analysis showed that the HR ratio for MACE at 180 days in the NSTEMI group diagnosed by both algorithms was 3.418 and 5.892,respectively,significantly higher than the group excluded from NSTEMI. Conclusions:The 0/3-hour algorithm recommended by the 2021 Chinese Expert Consensus has superior diagnostic sensitivity compared to the 2015 ESC NSTE-ACS guidelines,at the cost of slightly lower specificity.Both algorithms can effectively predict MACE within 180 days,but based on the data from this study,the algorithm recommended by the 2021 Chinese Expert Consensus is more sensitive in predicting the risk of MACE,and patients excluded from the diagnosis of NSTEMI by this method have a lower incidence of MACE,suggesting that its application in clinical practice may be more helpful in terms of long-term safe management of patients.
9.Ultrasound-guided Radiofrequency Ablation Combined With Injection of Foam Sclerosing in the Treatment of Primary Small Saphenous Vein Varicosities

Objective To explore the efficacy and safety of ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation combined with foam sclerotherapy in the treatment of primary small saphenous vein varicosities.Methods A total of 46 patients with primary small saphenous vein varicosities in our department from November 2021 to November 2022 were retrospectively analyzed.Depending on the patient's choice of surgical method,they underwent radiofrequency ablation combined with sclerotherapy(observation group,n=23)or high ligation and stripping of the saphenous vein(control group,n=23).The surgical time,intraoperative blood loss,length of hospital stay,postoperative Venous Clinical Severity Score(VCSS),incidence of postoperative complications,treatment satisfaction,and recurrence were compared between the two groups.Results Compared with the control group,the observation group had shorter surgical time[(56.1±6.0)min vs.(81.7±10.6)min,t=-10.128,P=0.000],less intraoperative blood loss[(27.0±4.1)ml vs.(41.4±4.8)ml,t=-11.016,P=0.000],shorter hospitalization time[(2.0±0.7)dvs.(5.6±0.9)d,t=-14.319,P=0.000],lower VCSS scores at 3,6,and 12 months after surgery[(7.4±2.0)points vs.(8.9±2.5)points,t=-2.165,P=0.036;(5.3±1.8)points vs.(6.5±2.2)points,t=-2.149,P=0.037;(2.6±1.3)points vs.(4.0±1.8)points,t=-2.912,P=0.006],higher satisfaction[satisfied,somewhat satisfied,dissatisfied in 18,4,and 1 cases in the observation group and 8,10,and 5 cases in the control group,respectively,Z=-2.967,P=0.003].There were no statistically significant differences in the complication incidence and recurrence rate between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation combined with foam sclerotherapy in the treatment of primary small saphenous vein varicosities is safe and effective.
10.Diagnostic values of urinary levels of CXCL9/SCr and CXCL10/SCr in kidney transplant rejection recipients based upon Luminex technology

Objective:To explore the diagnostic values of urinary levels of CXCL9/SCr and CXCL10/SCr in kidney transplant rejection patients.Method:From March 2021 to July 2022, the relevant clinical data were retrospectively reviewed for 120 recipients undergoing kidney transplant biopsy at Tianjin First Central Hospital. According to the results of pathological examinations, they were assigned into three groups of rejection (72 cases), BK virus nephropathy (BKVN, 16 cases) and transplant nephropathy (32 cases). Renal function stable group (20 cases) was selected as control group. And 72 recipients in rejection group were divided into three sub-groups of ≥1A T cell mediated rejection (TCMR, 28 cases) ,antibody-mediated rejection (AMR, 32 cases) and borderline TCMR (10 cases). Subgroup analysis of rejection group was performed for clarifying the differences among various rejection types. The specificity and sensitivity of urinary CXCL9/SCr and CXCL10/SCr were evaluated by receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve and their correlations examined.Result:No significant difference existed in general profiles among four groups. No difference existed between urinary CXCL9/SCr and CXCL10/SCr between rejection and BKVN groups. And the values of these two groups were higher than those of transplant nephropathy and renal function stable groups ( P<0.01). In subgroup analysis of rejection, urinary CXCL9/SCr and CXCL10/SCr values in rejection group were higher than those in borderline TCMR and AMR groups ( P<0.01). No difference existed between borderline TCMR and AMR groups. Urinary CXCL9/SCr had an AUC of 0.938 and a threshold of 0.482 μg/mol while urinary CXCL10/SCr had an AUC of 0.89n and a threshold of 5.516 μg/mol. Urinary CXCL9/SCr and CXCL10/SCr had a high linear correlation. Conclusion:Urinary CXCL9/SCr and CXCL10/SCr may be employed as early non-invasive detection markers for RT rejection sensitivity and specificity.
