To investigate the effects of Wogonin (WO) on learning and memory impairment, Aβ1-42 was injected intracerebroventricularly to induced a mouse learning and memory impairment model, and D-galactose was injected intraperitoneally to induced a mouse acute aging model. Mice were administered WO (75, 150, or 300 mg/kg) by oral gavage for 28 consecutive days. Cognitive function was assessed using the Morris water maze (MWM), novel object recognition (NOR), and open field tests (OFT). In the Aβ1-42 model, WO treatment (150 and 300 mg/kg) significantly improved the recognition index in the NOR test, while the 150 mg/kg group showed increased target quadrant preference in the MWM test. No changes in the total distance traveled in OFT. In the D-galactose aging model, the 150 mg/kg WO group exhibited increased platform crossings in the MWM test, and all WO doses (75, 150, and 300 mg/kg) enhanced target quadrant preference, with no alterations in spontaneous movement. Western blot analysis revealed that WO significantly attenuated hippocampal apoptosis in both models. These findings suggest that WO ameliorates learning and memory impairment associated with Alzheimer’s disease and aging.

Objective:To explore the value of spectral CT parameters combined with dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging(DCE-MRI) parameters in the short-term efficacy of concurrent chemoradiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Methods: A total of 110 cases with nasopharyngeal carcinoma Ⅲ-Ⅳ staging who received synchronous radiotherapy and chemotherapy at our Hospital from October 2022 to October 2024 were regarded as the study subjects. Complying with the evaluation results after radiotherapy and chemotherapy, they were divided into a complete remission(CR) group of 53 cases and a non CR group of 57 cases. All patients underwent DCE-MRI and energy dispersive CT scans to obtain parameters, such as iodine concentration(IC), volume transfer constant(Ktrans), slope of spectral HU curve(λHU), rate constant(Kep), and normalized iodine concentration(NIC). Logistic regression analysis was used to screen for influencing factors. ROC curve was used to analyze the evaluation value of various parameters. In addition, Z-test was used to compare area under the curve(AUC). Results:The proportion of retropharyngeal lymph node metastasis and λHUvalue in the non CR group were higher than those in the CR group, while Ktrans, Kep, IC value, and NIC value were lower than those in the CR group(P<0.05). Retropharyngeal lymph node metastasis, Ktrans, Kep, IC value, λHUvalue, and NIC value were all influencing factors(P<0.05). The AUC of individual prediction of Ktrans, Kep, IC value, λHUvalue, and NIC value was 0.817, 0.800, 0.785, 0.783, and 0.835, respectively. The AUC of the combination of DCE-MRI parameters, the combination of spectral CT parameters, and the combination of the five parameters were 0.874, 0.900, and 0.980, respectively, the AUC of the combination of the five parameters was significantly higher than the AUC of each indicator alone, the AUC of the combination of DCE-MRI parameters, and the AUC of the combination of spectral CT parameters(P<0.05). Conclusion:The DCE-MRI, and spectral CT parameters (Ktrans, Kep, IC value, λHUvalue, and NIC value)can be used to evaluate concurrent radiotherapy and chemotherapy short-term efficacy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma. And the combination of various parameters can greatly improve the predictive value of efficacy, which has important clinical application value.

In recent decades, the prevalence of hyperuricemia and gout has increased dramatically due to lifestyle changes. The drugs currently recommended for hyperuricemia are associated with adverse reactions that limit their clinical use. In this study, we report that berberine (BBR) is an effective drug candidate for the treatment of hyperuricemia, with its mechanism potentially involving the modulation of gut microbiota and its metabolite, succinic acid. BBR has demonstrated good therapeutic effects in both acute and chronic animal models of hyperuricemia. In a clinical trial, oral administration of BBR for 6 months reduced blood uric acid levels in 22 participants by modulating the gut microbiota, which led to an increase in the abundance of Bacteroides and a decrease in Clostridium sensu stricto_1. Furthermore, Bacteroides fragilis was transplanted into ICR mice, and the results showed that Bacteroides fragilis exerted a therapeutic effect on uric acid similar to that of BBR. Notably, succinic acid, a metabolite of Bacteroides, significantly reduced uric acid levels. Subsequent cell and animal experiments revealed that the intestinal metabolite, succinic acid, regulated the upstream uric acid synthesis pathway in the liver by inhibiting adenosine monophosphate deaminase 2 (AMPD2), an enzyme responsible for converting adenosine monophosphate (AMP) to inosine monophosphate (IMP). This inhibition resulted in a decrease in IMP levels and an increase in phosphate levels. The reduction in IMP led to a decreased downstream production of hypoxanthine, xanthine, and uric acid. BBR also demonstrated excellent renoprotective effects, improving nephropathy associated with hyperuricemia. In summary, BBR has the potential to be an effective treatment for hyperuricemia through the gut-liver axis.

Objective To compare the intestinal injury induced by different intensities of waveshock in rats exposed to extremely cold environment and to preliminarily explore the characteristics of the injury. Methods Sixty healthy male SD rats(2 months old, weighing 200~250 g)were randomly divided into 6 groups(n=10):blank control group,low-temperature control group,5.0 MPa shock control group, and low-temperature+4.0,4.5 and 5.0 MPa shock groups. The rats in the experimental groups were pre-treated in a-10℃low-temperature environment for 30 min and then subjected to intestinal injury by using BST-I biological shock tube with different driving pressures. At 3,8,and 24 h after injury, the serum levels of IL-6,TNF-α,intestinal fatty acid binding protein(I-FABP),and diamine oxidase(DAO)were detected, and the survival of rats within 24 h was recorded. At 24 h after injury, the rats were anesthetized and dissected, the characteristics of intestinal injury were observed, and pathological examination was performed. The differences of intestinal injury were compared among the 6 groups to explore the characteristics of intestinal injuries after different intensities of shockwave in rats after exposure to extremely cold environment. Results Compared with the blank control group, the other 5 groups exhibited different severities of intestinal injury, and the rats in the low-temperature+different shock groups were more prone to intestinal edema and trauma. The mortality rate was significantly increased in the low-temperature+5.0 MPa shock group(P<0.05).Pathological and serological studies found that dual effects of very cold environment and blast injury resulted in intestinal mucosal hemorrhage, edema, and disintegration of lamina propria in the experimental rats. The indicators of intestinal mucosal injury and intestinal inflammatory factors were also significantly increased when compared with the blank control group, and significant differences were among the groups with increment of shock intensity(P<0.05).Conclusion Exposure to very cold environment combined with abdominal blast injury increases mortality rate in rats, manifested by elevated serological indicators and intestinal inflammatory factors,as well as varying severities of intestinal wall edema and submucosal bleeding.Furthermore, the severity of the injury is positively related to the impact intensity, with worsened as the impact intensity increasing.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2024;45(10):1481-1485
Objective:
To investigate the relationship between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and mental health status through network analysis in college students, so as to provide empirical evidence for the development of targeted intervention programs.
Methods:
From October to November 2023, a survey was conducted on 1 974 college students from three universities in Hubei Province by using ACEs Questionnaire and Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90). The network analysis method was used to construct a network structure to analyze the association between ACEs and SCL-90 symptom factors among college students.
Results:
The network structure of SCL-90 symptom factors and ACEs was stable, each forming a relatively tight cluster; there were 89 non zero edges between ACEs and SCL-90 symptom factors. Emotional neglect-depression played a significant pathway role in connecting the ACEs and SCL-90 symptom factors network. Depression, anxiety, and interpersonal sensitivity of SCL-90 symptom factors had the highest centrality in the ACEs and SCL-90 symptom factors network. Emotional neglect and physical neglect in ACEs and depression and psychoticism in SCL-90 symptom factors had a high node bridge expected influence, acting as Touchpoints to activate the whole network.
Conclusion
Early identification and intervention of emotional and physical neglect, with a focus on depression, anxiety, and interpersonal sensitivity symptoms of childhood neglected individuals, which is beneficial for improving the overall mental health level of college students.

As essential part of teachers' teaching practice, the design and arrangement of assignments is the main carrier of interaction between teachers and students, and is also an important learning way for students. According to the discipline characteristics and teaching modes of histology and embryology courses, we have developed a systematic assignment design model that covers theory, practice, and application with four types of assignments—pre-class assignments, exploratory assignments, practical assignments, and innovative assignments distributed before class, in class, after class, and throughout the teaching process. Behind this assignment design strategy is the concept of learner-centered teaching, which aims to help students learn professional knowledge and develop comprehensive literacy.

ObjectiveBased on the new method of animal model evaluation, this paper summarized and analyzed the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) and Western medicine syndromes in existing autism spectrum disorder(ASD) animal models, and put forward suggestions for improvement. MethodRelevant literature on ASD animal models in China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI) and PubMed were searched. According to the diagnostic standards of traditional Chinese and western medicine, core symptoms and accompanying symptoms were assigned values, and the clinical consistency of the models was comprehensively evaluated. ResultMost ASD model experimental animals were rodents, and the modeling methods included genetic and non-genetic. Domestic research focused on biochemical induction, while foreign research used genetic models more commonly. Among all models, valproic acid induction had the highest clinical consistency, followed by the neuroligin 4(NLGN4) and contactin associated protein like 2(CNTNAP2) gene knockout models. Most modeling methods could meet the characteristics of surface validity and structural validity, but did not clearly distinguish TCM syndromes. Currently, there is no model that has a high degree of clinical agreement between TCM and western medicine at the same time. ConclusionThe existing ASD animal models are mostly constructed under the guidance of western medicine, which lacks the characteristics of TCM syndromes. And the selection of evaluation indicators of western medicine is relatively single, without specifying the types of TCM syndromes. It is recommended to apply TCM intervention factors during the process of model preparation, to improve the evaluation indicators of traditional Chinese and western medicine, and to emphasize the study of on non-human primates, so as to lay a solid foundation for future experiments.

Objective:To investigate the risk factors affecting pathological diagnosis upgrading after resection of colorectal laterally spreading tumor (LST).Methods:From June 2018 to December 2022, the clinical data of 256 patients with LST (297 lesions) admitted to Shanxi Provincial Cancer Hospital were retrospectively included as an modeling group. From January 2023 to January 2024, 125 patients with LST (129 lesions) were collected as an external validation group. The pathological diagnosis of endoscopic forceps biopsy (EFB) samples and the resected LST tissue of modeling group were compared, and the patients were divided into pathological non-difference group and pathological upgrading group. The clinical data such as gender, age, body mass index (BMI), pre-resection carcinoembryonic antigen levels, drinking history, smoking history, family history of colorectal cancer, and whether complicated with underlying diseases as well as endoscopic surface morphological features such as lesion size, morphological features, and lesion location were compared between the two groups. Chi-square test was used for statistical analysis, and multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to identify the risk factors for pathological diagnosis upgrading after resection. Based on the independent risk factors, the prediction models were established and validated by nomogram. The receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) of repeated samples within the modeling group and external validation growp was plotted, and the area under the curve (AUC) was used to evaluate the predictive value of the model. Results:The proportion of patients with family history of colorectal cancer in the pathological upgrading group was higher than that of the pathological non-difference group (38.7%, 12/31 vs. 22.2%, 50/225), and the difference was statistically significant ( χ2=4.04, P=0.045). There were statistically significant differences in lesion size (63.9% (23/36) and 44.4% (116/261) lesions with long diameter ≥2 cm, respectively), surface morphological characteristics (flat elevated type accounted for 8.3% (3/36) and 22.6% (59/261), granular uniform type accounted for 11.1% (4/36) and 28.0% (73/261), nodular mixed type accounted for 44.4% (6/36) and 24.9% (65/261), pseudo-depressed type accounted for 36.1% (13/36) and 24.5% (64/261)), and lesion location (distal colon accounted for 22.2% (8/36) and 33.3% (87/261), proximal colon accounted for 16.7% (6/36) and 28.7% (75/261), and rectum accounted for 61.1% (22/36) and 37.9% (99/261)) between the pathological upgrading group and the pathological non-difference group ( χ2=4.80, 12.62 and 7.08, all P<0.05). The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that family history of colorectal cancer ( OR=2.211, 95% confidence interval (95% CI) 1.005 to 4.861, P=0.049), lesion length ≥ 2 cm ( OR=2.212, 95% CI 1.074 to 4.555, P=0.031), nodular mixed subtype ( OR=4.841, 95% CI 1.343 to 17.455, P=0.016), pseudo-depressed subtype ( OR=3.995, 95% CI 1.084 to 14.721, P=0.037), and lesion in rectum ( OR=2.417, 95% CI 1.024 to 5.705, P=0.044) were independent risk factors for pathological diagnosis upgrading after LST resection. A nomogram was established based on these four risk factors, with a ROC AUC of 0.833 (95% CI 0.752 to 0.913). The external validation results demonstrated that the ROC AUC was 0.848 (95% CI 0.736 to 0.960), the sensitivity was 0.737, the specificity was 0.972, the maximum Youden index was 0.712, and the overall accuracy was 0.868. Conclusions:Family history of colorectal cancer, lesion length ≥ 2 cm, lesion in rectum, and nodular mixed or pseudo-depressed subtypes may affect the accuracy of pathological diagnosis of LST lesions by EFB, and leading to pathological diagnosis upgrading after resection. The prediction model based on these four factors has good predictive efficacy in pathological diagnosis upgrading after LST resection.
