Journal of Public Health and Preventive Medicine 2026;37(1):93-97
Objective To investigate the prevalence, distribution characteristics, and influencing factors of mental health problems among the elderly, and to provide a scientific basis for policy-making. Methods A convenience sampling method was used to investigate depression, anxiety, and cognitive function among permanent residents aged 65 and older at 59 mental health care sites for the elderly in Hubei Province. Multinomial logistic regression was employed to analyze influencing factors. Results The screening rates for depression, anxiety, and cognitive function at critical/high-risk levels among the elderly in Hubei Province were 9.7%, 5.4%, and 12.2%, respectively. Urban elderly had lower risks of depression and cognitive function at critical/high-risk levels compared to rural elderly (OR for critical depression = 0.640, P < 0.001; OR for high-risk depression = 0.595, P = 0.012; OR for critical cognitive function = 0.448, P < 0.001; OR for high-risk cognitive function = 0.188, P < 0.001). Six key population groups had higher risks of depression, anxiety, and cognitive function at critical/high-risk levels than others (OR for critical depression = 1.463, P < 0.001; OR for high-risk depression = 1.912, P < 0.001; OR for critical anxiety = 1.462, P < 0.001; OR for high-risk anxiety = 2.882, P < 0.001; OR for critical cognitive function = 1.381, P < 0.001; OR for high-risk cognitive function = 2.345, P < 0.001). A higher number of chronic diseases was associated with increased risks of critical and high-risk depression (OR for critical = 1.316, P < 0.001; OR for high-risk = 3.677, P < 0.001) and cognitive impairment (OR for critical depression = 1.316, P < 0.001; OR for high-risk depression = 3.677, P < 0.001; OR for critical anxiety = 1.512, P < 0.001; OR for high-risk anxiety = 1.801, P < 0.001). Conclusion It is recommended to expand mental health care sites in rural areas, improve the layout of mutual-support elderly care facilities, and explore sustainable models for rural elderly care. Efforts should also focus on enhancing social participation among the elderly through community-based activities, and strengthening cognitive screening and emotional regulation interventions, with particular attention to the mental health needs of older, isolated, and chronically ill individuals.

ObjectiveTo analyze the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of the 21 confirmed monkeypox cases in a district of Chengdu City, and to provide scientific guidance for the prevention and control of subsequent monkeypox epidemics. MethodsData of confirmed monkeypox cases residing in this district were collected from the Disease Control and Prevention Information System of China. A retrospective descriptive epidemiological analysis was used to analyze the demographic, distributional and behavioral characteristics of the cases. ResultsThe first confirmed case of monkeypox was reported on July 5, 2023. Up to April 30, 2025, a total of 21 confirmed cases of monkeypox have been reported. All cases were male, with a mean age of (30.9±6.2) years. The highest proportion of cases(47.62%) was in the 30‒40 years age group. The majority were men who have sex with men (MSM) population (90.48%, 19/21). The results showed that 19.05% of cases were co-infected with HIV, and 19.05% had a history of syphilis infection. Within 21 days prior to symptom onset, 19 cases (90.48%) self-reported engaging in male-to-male sexual contact, among whom 10 cases (52.63%) reported having taken protective measures, while 9 cases (47.37%) did not take safety precautions. Thirteen cases (61.90%) had no travel history to areas with reported monkeypox cases during the 21 days before symptom onset. The predominant manifestation was exanthem (100%, 21/21), followed by fever (57.14%, 12/21) and lymphadenectasis (47.62%, 10/21). Among febrile cases, 50.00% (6/12) had low-grade fever (37.3‒38.0 ℃). All cases were identified through active medical consultation. The median interval from symptom onset to the first medical visit was 3 (2, 6) days, with a maximum interval of 14 days. The median interval from symptom onset to laboratory confirmation was 7 (5, 9) days. Six cases (28.57%) had two or more visits to the hospital, with bacterial infection being the primary initial diagnosis. ConclusionMonkeypox prevention and control efforts in a district of Chengdu City should prioritize MSM population and young and middle-aged adults aged 30 to <40 years. It is recommended to establish an integrated monkeypox epidemic prevention and control network by leveraging existing HIV/AIDS prevention and control network. Concurrently, accelerating the deployment of the national intelligent infectious disease monitoring and early warning front-end software will strengthen early detection capabilities and be beneficial for the overall effectiveness of epidemic prevention and control efforts.

Objective To investigate the antibody levels against measles, rubella, and mumps in infants aged 0-8 months in Shanghai, and construct a decay trend model, and to provide evidence for formulating prevention and control strategies. Methods Serum samples were collected from infants aged 0 - 8 months at a children's medical center in Shanghai. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to measure the IgG antibody levels against measles, rubella, and mumps. The antibody positive rates and antibody geometric mean concentration (GMC) in different age groups were analyzed. Results A total of 922 serum samples were collected. The GMC and positive rates for measles, rubella, and mumps antibodies were 2.11 (127.35 IU·L-1) and 39.70%; 0.89 (7.89 IU·mL-1) and 28.85%; and 1.89 (77.80 U·mL-1) and 41.43%, respectively. There were statistically significant differences in antibody levels and positive rates across different age groups. With the highest levels observed at 0 months, a rapid decline began at 3 months, reaching the lowest levels by 7 months. After the first dose of the MMR vaccine at 8 months, antibody levels increased. A negative correlation was observed between age and GMC for measles, rubella, and mumps antibodies, showing a linear decay trend. The models were as follows: Ŷmeasles = −0.151X + 2.602 (R2=0.91,P<0.001); Ŷrubella = −0.126X + 1.319(R2=0.98,P<0.001); Ŷmumps = −0.122X + 2.327 (R2=0.94,P<0.001). Conclusion The antibody levels for measles, rubella, and mumps in infants decline linearly with increasing age in months. The antibody levels in infants before 8 months of age primarily depend on maternal antibodies. It is recommended that MMR vaccination be promoted for women of childbearing age to enhance early passive immunity protection in infants.

Objective To investigate whether Danshen injection (DSI) can protect human brain organoids from oxidative stress damage by regulating the Nrf2 signaling pathway and its mechanism. Methods A Nrf2 plasmid was constructed, lentivirus was packaged and transfected into human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) to form a stable cell line. Brain organoids with Nrf2 overexpression (LV-Nrf2 group) and knockdown (sh-Nrf2 group) were constructed using kit. The transfection efficiency was verified by real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction. An oxidative stress injury model was established by inducing hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Intervention was performed either in combination or without DSI pre-treatment. Cell viability was detected by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), and the expression levels of Nrf2, malondialdehyde (MDA), interleukin (IL)-1β, sex-determining region Y-box protein 2 (SOX2) and neuronal-specific nuclear protein (NeuN) were detected by Western blot and immunofluorescence staining. Total RNA from human brain organoids was extracted for transcriptome sequencing and analysis. Results LV-Nrf2 group and sh-Nrf2 group brain organoid models were successfully constructed. The CCK-8 results determined that the oxidative stress model was established with 32 mmol/L H2O2 intervention conditions. The fluorescence expression of Nrf2 in LV-Nrf2 group was higher than that in control group, and the fluorescence expressions of MDA and IL-1β were lower than those in control group; sh-Nrf2 group showed a damage phenotype of low Nrf2 expression, high MDA and IL-1β expression (all P < 0.05). Compared with H2O2 group, the Nrf2 signal in DSI + H2O2 group was stronger, and the levels of MDA and IL-1β were lower. Among them, the protective effect of LV-Nrf2 was the most significant. H2O2 treatment could down-regulate the protein levels of Nrf2, SOX2 and NeuN, and DSI intervention could effectively reverse the downward trend of these indicators. Sh-Nrf2 could weaken the recovery effect of DSI on SOX2 and NeuN, while LV-Nrf2 could synergistically enhance the regulatory effect of DSI. Conclusions DSI may antagonize oxidative stress damage in human brain organoids through the Nrf2 signaling pathway, and maintaining the stability of the neural cell lineage is its core therapeutic characteristic.

Primary liver cancer is a malignant tumor with continuously rising incidence and mortality rates worldwide, imposing a heavy burden on patients and society, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common type of primary liver cancer. As one of the important treatment methods for HCC, radiotherapy can effectively control the local growth of tumors and alleviate symptoms in patients. However, radiotherapy resistance seriously affects the treatment effect and has become a major challenge in clinical treatment. Current research shows a complex mechanism of radiotherapy resistance in HCC, involving multiple factors such as abnormal activation of intracellular signaling pathways, changes in tumor microenvironment, and regulation of gene expression. Therefore, a series of strategies have been proposed to address radiotherapy resistance in clinical practice, including regulating cell signaling pathways, improving tumor microenvironment, and combining different treatment modalities, and such strategies have shown promising application prospects. This article reviews the research advances in the mechanism of radiotherapy resistance and related coping strategies, in order to provide new perspectives for future research on radiotherapy for HCC.

Chinese Journal of Trauma 2025;41(6):530-541
Paraplegia caused by spinal cord injury is a serious neurological complication, for which surgery is currently the main treatment method. Due to different surgical approaches, patients are usually expected to maintain a passive prone position for a long time or switch between the supine and prone positions. Affected by multiple factors such as neurogenic sensory disorders, pathological changes in muscle tone and operative duration, the risk of intraoperative acquired pressure injury (IAPI) is significantly increased. Current clinical prevention strategies for IAPI in these patients predominantly focus on localized pressure relief during positioning, lacking systematic, standardized comprehensive prevention protocols or evidence-based guidelines. To address it, Department of Nursing, Orthopedics Branch, China International Exchange and Promotive Association for Medical and Health Care, Spinal Trauma Professional Committee, Orthopedics Branch, Chinese Medical Doctor Association, Nursing Group of Spine and Spinal Cord Professional Committee of Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine organized experts in relevant fields to formulate Guideline for the prevention of intraoperative acquired pressure injury in paraplegic patients with spinal cord injury ( version 2025), based on evidence-based medical evidence and latest research results and clinical practice at home and abroad. Eleven recommendations were put forward from the aspects of preoperative risk assessment, intraoperative prevention strategies, postoperative handover and monitoring, and supportive mechanisms for IAPI prevention, aiming to standardize the prevention measures and management strategies of IAPI in paraplegic patients with spinal cord injury and accelerate the recovery of patients and improve the therapeutic effect.

Objective:To explore the therapeutic efficacy and prognostic factors of combined rituximab and intensive chemotherapy for sporadic adult Burkitt lymphoma (BL) .Methods:This retrospective study examined the clinical and survival data of 30 patients newly diagnosed with BL between July 2011 and February 2023 at the Blood Diseases Hospital. Kaplan-Meier method was used for survival analysis, and the log-rank test was used for univariate analysis of prognostic factors. Results:The median age of the 30 patients was 43 years (24 - 66 years), and the male to female ratio was 3: 2. Extranodal invasion was present in 80% of the patients, with involvement of the bone marrow in 53.3% and central nervous system in 10.0%. The Ann Arbor stage was Ⅲ and Ⅳ in 86.7%. According to the number of Burkitt Lymphoma International Prognostic Index (BL-IPI) risk factors, patients were classified as low risk (0) in 20.0%, intermediate risk (1) in 43.3%, and high risk (≥2) in 36.7%. All patients were treated with an induction regimen of rituximab combined with intensive chemotherapy, with objective and complete response rates of 80.0% and 76.7%, respectively. The median follow-up was 49 months (6-153 months), and the 5-year progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) rates were both (76.7±7.7) %. All patients with limited stage ( n=4) achieved continuous complete remission (CCR). Patients who had high risk, advanced stage sensitive to induction therapy ( n=10) sequentially received first-line autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (auto-HSCT) as consolidation therapy; 9 patients achieved CCR, whereas 1 patient with central nervous system invasion developed early disease progression and died. The BL-IPI low, intermediate, and high risk groups had respective 5-year PFS rates of (83.3±15.2) %, 100.0%, and (45.5±15.0) % ( P=0.0069) and OS rates of (83.3±15.2) %, 100.0%, and (45.5±15.0) % ( P=0.0075). The main adverse effects of induction therapy were myelosuppression and secondary infections, which were effectively managed by appropriate symptomatic treatment. Univariate analysis demonstrated that worse PFS was associated with BL-IPI score ≥2 ( HR=4.90, 95% CI 1.02-23.45, P=0.0329) ; extranodal invasion at ≥2 sites ( HR=12.62, 95% CI 2.59-61.62, P=0.0021) ; and failure to achieve first complete response (CR1) after induction therapy ( HR=31.86, 95% CI 4.19-242.20, P<0.0001) . Conclusions:Intensive immunochemotherapy regimens were effective and well-tolerated by adult patients with highly aggressive BL. Treatment efficacy was ideal in patients with limited-stage disease, whereas prognosis was unsatisfactory in patients with high-risk BL-IPI. Sequential first-line auto-HSCT consolidation therapy may further improve outcomes in patients with high-risk advanced-stage disease who are sensitive to induction therapy. BL-IPI score ≥2, extranodal invasion at ≥2 sites, and failure to achieve CR1 after induction therapy were adverse prognostic factors in adult patients with BL.
