Objective To investigate the awareness of radon exposure hazards among non-uranium miners in Chongqing, China. Methods A survey was conducted among 177 male miners from eight non-uranium metal mines in Chongqing to collect data on basic information, personal habits, and the rate of radon awareness. Factors affecting radon awareness were analyzed using chi-square test and logistic regression model. Results The awareness rate of radon among miners was 23.73%. The chi-square test indicated significant difference in the radon awareness rate among miners with different levels of education (χ² = 10.28, P < 0.05), while there was no significant difference across different ages, years of work, labor relations, job categories, and types of miners (P > 0.05). Binary logistic regression analysis showed that a college (junior college) or higher level of education, a high school level of education, and working in mines were factors affecting the radon awareness among miners (χ² = 4.030, 9.150, 11.776, P < 0.05). Conclusion Miners lack awareness of radon, and there is an urgent need to strengthen education and propaganda regarding the hazards of radon.

Radiation-induced thrombocytopenia (RIT) faces a perplexing challenge in the clinical treatment of cancer patients, and current therapeutic approaches are inadequate in the clinical settings. In this research, oxymatrine, a new molecule capable of healing RIT was screened out, and the underlying regulatory mechanism associated with magakaryocyte (MK) differentiation and thrombopoiesis was demonstrated. The capacity of oxymatrine to induce MK differentiation was verified in K-562 and Meg-01 cells in vitro. The ability to induce thrombopoiesis was subsequently demonstrated in Tg (cd41:enhanced green fluorescent protein (eGFP)) zebrafish and RIT model mice. In addition, we carried out network pharmacological prediction, drug affinity responsive target stability assay (DARTS) and cellular thermal shift assay (CETSA) analyses to explore the potential targets of oxymatrine. Moreover, the pathway underlying the effects of oxymatrine was determined by Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analyses, Western blot (WB), and immunofluorescence. Oxymatrine markedly promoted MK differentiation and maturation in vitro. Moreover, oxymatrine induced thrombopoiesis in Tg (cd41:eGFP) zebrafish and accelerated thrombopoiesis and platelet function recovery in RIT model mice. Mechanistically, oxymatrine directly binds to toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) and further regulates the downstream pathway stimulator of interferon genes (STING)/nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-κB), which can be blocked by C29 and C-176, which are specific inhibitors of TLR2 and STING, respectively. Taken together, we demonstrated that oxymatrine, a novel TLR2 agonist, plays a critical role in accelerating MK differentiation and thrombopoiesis via the STING/NF-κB axis, suggesting that oxymatrine is a promising candidate for RIT therapy.

OBJECTIVE: Baicalein has been reported to have wide therapeutic effects that act through its anti-inflammatory activity. This study examines the effect and mechanism of baicalein on sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy (SIC). METHODS: A thorough screening of a small library of natural products, comprising 100 diverse compounds, was conducted to identify the most effective drug against lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-treated H9C2 cardiomyocytes. The core target proteins and their associated signaling pathways involved in baicalein's efficacy against LPS-induced myocardial injury were predicted by network pharmacology. RESULTS: Baicalein was identified as the most potent protective agent in LPS-exposed H9C2 cardiomyocytes. It exhibited a dose-dependent inhibitory effect on cell injury and inflammation. In the LPS-induced septic mouse model, baicalein demonstrated a significant capacity to mitigate LPS-triggered myocardial deficits, inflammatory responses, and ferroptosis. Network pharmacological analysis and experimental confirmation suggested that hypoxia-inducible factor 1 subunit α (HIF1-α) is likely to be the crucial factor in mediating the impact of baicalein against LPS-induced myocardial ferroptosis and injury. By combining microRNA (miRNA) screening in LPS-treated myocardium with miRNA prediction targeting HIF1-α, we found that miR-299b-5p may serve as a regulator of HIF1-α. The reduction in miR-299b-5p levels in LPS-treated myocardium, compared to the control group, was reversed by baicalein treatment. The reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction, Western blotting, and dual-luciferase reporter gene analyses together identified HIF1-α as the target of miR-299b-5p in cardiomyocytes. CONCLUSION Baicalein mitigates SIC at the miRNA level, suggesting the therapeutic potential of it in treating SIC through the regulation of miR-299b-5p/HIF1-α/ferroptosis pathway. Objective To explore the safety and management mode of hysteroscopy in three different modes:outpatient,daily and inpatient.Methods The quality control data of patients who underwent hysteroscopic surgery in Hysterscopy Centre,Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital,Fudan University from Jan 2019 to Dec 2021 were collected through the electronic information system of the hospital and the monthly quality control report of hysteroscopy center.The amount of surgery,the proportion of grade Ⅳsurgery,the analysis of operation types,the indicator including complications,and unanticipated secondary surgery were retrospectively analyzed.Results From 2019 to 2021,5 162 outpatient hysteroscopic patients,15 331 daily hysteroscopic patients and 5 942 inpatient hysteroscopic patients were admitted in our hospital.The age of inpatient hysteroscopic patients was significantly older than those of outpatient and daily patients(P<0.001).In the past three years,the proportion of daily hysteroscopy gradually increased,and the proportion of inpatient hysteroscopy gradually decreased(P<0.001).The total percentage of grade Ⅳ hysteroscopic surgery was 12.9%,in which inpatient was higher than daily,and daily was higher than outpatient(P<0.001).The incidence of complications and accidents during hysteroscopy was 0.117%(31/26 435),including 17 cases of uterine perforation,7 cases of hysteroscopy failure,3 cases of excessive intraoperative bleeding,2 cases of fluid overload,1 case of intestinal injury,and 1 case of anesthesia accident.The incidence of hysteroscopy in outpatient,daily and inpatient were 0.020%(1/5 162),0.137%(21/15 331)and 0.151%(9/5 942)respectively.Conclusion Hysteroscopy in outpatient,daily and inpatient are all safe and reliable.Outpatient and daily hysteroscopy can improve the efficiency of medical services,which has gradually become a trend.

Objective To study the clinical characteristics and bacterial antimicrobial susceptibility testing results of patients with clinically isolated Ralstonia pickettii(R.pickettii),and provide basis for the rational use of antimi-crobial agents.Methods Inpatients with R.pickettii infection who were treated at the Tianjin First Central Hospi-tal from January 2014 to December 2023 were analyzed retrospectively.Clinical characteristics and antimicrobial sus-ceptibility testing results were analyzed.Results A total of 80 strains of Ralstonia spp.were isolated over 10-year period,including 42(52.5％)non-repetitive strains of R.pickettii.Among 42 R.pickettii strains,64.3％were isolated from male patients.The strains isolated from sputum,catheter,blood,throat swabs,and drainage fluid specimens accounted for 38.1％,28.6％,19.0％,4.8％,and 2.4％,respectively.The clinical distribution of R.pickettii was highest in the intensive care unit(ICU),with a proportion of 52.4％.The number of infected patients first increased and then decreased with the years,followed by a slight fluctuation.There was no statistically signifi-cant difference in the number of infected patients in each department over the years(P＞0.05).R.pickettii had higher susceptibility rates to doxycycline,levofloxacin,ciprofloxacin,and minocycline,susceptibility rates were 78.3％-90.9％,but was completely resistant to compound sulfamethoxazole and cefazolin(100％),it also had higher resistance rates to aztreonam,colistin,cefotetan,tobramycin,amikacin,ceftazidime,and gentamicin(80.0％-97.4％).There was no statistically significant difference in the resistance rates to 21 antimicrobial agents among different years(all P＞0.05).Conclusion R.pickettii is mainly from ICU,and the majority of the infected population are adult males.Most strains are isolated from sputum and catheter.R.pickettii presents multidrug re-sistance.Attention should be paid to the changes in the resistance rates of antimicrobial agents,strengthen the dy-namic monitoring of bacterial resistance and guide the rational selection of antimicrobial agents in clinic,implement early and effective treatment to improve the prognosis of the patients.

Objective To investigate the clinical value of matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time of flight mass spectrometry(MALDI-TOF MS)in rapid detection of carbapenemase produced by Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.Methods A total of 60 strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae and 80 strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from Pizhou People's Hospital affiliated to Xuzhou Medical University from January 2022 to October 2023 were collected,including 30 strains of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae(CRKP),30 strains of carbapenem-sensitive Klebsiella pneumoniae(CSKP),50 strains of carbapenem-resistant Pseudo-monas aeruginosa(CRPA)and 30 strains of carbapenem-sensitive Pseudomonas aeruginosa(CSPA).Three detection methods were applied,i.e.,modified carbapenem inactivation method(mCIM),colloidal gold immunochromatography and Autof MS 1000 mass spectrometry identification system to evaluate the ability of Autof MS 1000 mass spectrometry identification system in detecting carbape-nase production of Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.Results The results of Autof MS 1000 mass spectrometry iden-tification system were consistent with those of both mCIM and colloidal gold immunochromatography.Carbapenemase was detected in 28 of the 30 CRKP strains,and it was negative in 2 CRKP strains.Carbapenamase was detected in 15 of the 50 CRPA strains and it was negative in 35 CRPA strains.Thirty strains of CSKP and 30 strains of CSPA were all Carbapenemase negative.The coincidence rate of the results of the three methods in the detection for carbapenase was 100％.Conclusion The result of Autof MS 1000 mass spectrome-try identification system has been consistent with those of mCIM and colloidal gold immunochromatography.It not only has the charac-teristics of cost-saving compare with of mCIM method,but also hold the advantages of fast speed and high accuracy of colloidal gold im-munochromatography method.Thus,Autof MS 1000 system can be used for the rapid identification of carbapenemase produced by Kleb-siella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Objective:To compare the diagnostic efficacy of 22 G fine needle aspiration (FNA) needles and 22 G end-cutting fine needle biopsy (FNB) needles for solid pancreatic lesion using both cytological and histological examination.Methods:Clinical data of 116 patients who underwent endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration/biopsy (EUS-FNA/FNB) at the Digestive Endoscopy Center of Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine from June 2022 to March 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Sixty-three patients sampled with 22 G FNA needles were the FNA group, and 53 sampled with 22 G FNB needles were the FNB group. The diagnostic accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and cytological and histological diagnostic yield of FNA needles and FNB needles for solid pancreatic lesions were compared.Results:There were no significant differences in age, gender, lesion location, lesion size, or the number of passes between the FNA group and the FNB group ( P>0.05). There were no significant differences in the diagnostic accuracy [93.7% (59/63) VS 90.6% (48/53), P=0.730], sensitivity [93.0% (53/57) VS 90.2% (46/51), P=0.732], specificity [100.0% (6/6) VS 100.0% (2/2), P=1.000], positive predictive value [100.0% (53/53) VS 100.0% (46/46), P=1.000] and negative predictive value [60.0% (6/10) VS 28.6% (2/7), P=0.335] of combined cytology and histology in distinguishing benign and malignant lesions between the two groups. In the FNA group, the diagnostic accuracy of combined cytology and histology was higher than cytology alone [93.7% (59/63) VS 81.0% (51/63), P=0.008], and was higher than histology alone without statistical significance [93.7% (59/63) VS 87.3% (55/63), P=0.125]. In the FNB group, the diagnostic accuracy of combined cytology and histology was higher than cytology alone [90.6% (48/53) VS 69.8% (37/53), P=0.001], but not than histology alone [90.6% (48/53) VS 90.6% (48/53)， P=1.000]. For solid masses located in pancreatic body/tail, the diagnostic accuracy for malignancy by histology using FNB needles tended to be higher than that of FNA needles [100.0% (17/17) VS 81.3% (26/32), P=0.080]. Conclusion:Both FNA needles and FNB needles exhibit adequate diagnostic yield for solid pancreatic masses when combining cytology and histology. FNB needles may offer a higher histological diagnostic yield.

Including gut microbiota and oral microbiota, various microorganisms in different human ecosystem constitute the human microbiota, which play an important role in human metabolism, immunity and maintaining microecological homeostasis. Abnormal changes in gut microbiota known as dysbiosis may lead to metabolic abnormalities and inflammatory changes, which are closely related to disease states including hypertension, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, and autoimmune diseases. The main cause of coronary artery disease is coronary atherosclerosis, a chronic and progressive inflammatory disease. Many evidences have shown that there is a correlation between gut microbiota and coronary artery disease. Therefore, we aim to review the relationship between gut microbiota and coronary artery disease, and discuss the possible research directions and application prospects.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze 43 leukemia genes in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in Yunnan province, and provide the basis for the diagnosis and treatment of children with ALL in this area. METHODS: The clinical data of 428 children with newly diagnosed ALL in Yunnan area from January 2015 to December 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. Multiple nested PCR technology was used to detect 43 common leukemia genes. RESULTS: Among the 428 children with ALL, 159 were positive for leukemia genes, with a positive rate of 37.15% (159/428), and a total of 15 leukemia genes were detected. Among the 159 leukemia gene-positive children, ETV6-RUNX1⁺ accounted for 25.79% (41/159), followed by E2A-PBX1⁺ and BCR-ABL⁺, accounting for 24.53% (39/159) and 23.27% (37/159) respectively. MLL⁺ accounted for 6.29% (10/159), WT1⁺ accounted for 4.40% (7/159), IKZF1 gene deletion and CRLF2⁺ accounted for 3.77% (6/159) respectively. The positive rate of MLL (46.15%) was the highest in ＜1-year old group, the positive rate of ETV6-RUNX1 (10.56%) was the highest in 1-10-year old group, and BCR-ABL⁺ rate (23.65%) was the highest in >10-year old group. The distribution of leukemia genes in different age groups was statistically significant (P <0.05). CONCLUSION The most common fusion gene of children with ALL in Yunnan is ETV6-RUNX1, followed by E2A-PBX1 and BCR-ABL.
