1.Impact of smartphone games on cognitive function in patients with chronic schizophrenia and gender differences

BackgroundPatients with chronic schizophrenia often suffer from cognitive impairment. Traditional cognitive rehabilitation training has problems such as a single form and poor compliance, making it urgent to develop new cognitive intervention methods. ObjectiveTo explore the intervention effect of smartphone games on the cognitive function of patients with chronic schizophrenia, and to analyze the differences in cognitive function improvement between patients of different genders, in order to provide references for the cognitive function intervention of these patients. MethodsThis study was a prospective cohort study. A total of 30 patients who were hospitalized in the Psychiatry Department of Chaohu Hospital Affiliated to Anhui Medical University from March to October 2021, met the diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia as defined in the International Classification of Diseases, tenth edition (ICD-10), and had a disease duration of above 5 years, were selected as the research subjects. All patients received smartphone game intervention for 12 weeks, 5 times a week, each session lasting 1 hour, in addition to conventional antipsychotic drug treatment. At the baseline and at 3, 6, 9, and 12 weeks of the intervention, the cognitive function was evaluated using the Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status (RBANS), the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) was used to assess mental symptoms, and the Problematic Mobile Gaming Questionnaire (PMGQ) was used to assess addiction symptoms. ResultsA total of 26 patients (86.67%) completed the study, including 13 females and 13 males. The time effects, group effects, and interaction effect between time and group for the immediate memory factor score of RBANS in the female group and the male group were all statistically significant (F=36.682, 5.712, 3.090, P<0.05 or 0.01), and the time effects and group effects for the verbal and delayed memory factors as well as the total score in both groups were also statistically significant (F=3.841, 6.149, 15.372, P<0.05 or 0.01). The time effects and group effects of the total score of PANSS in both groups had no statistical significance (F=2.041, 0.623, P>0.05 for both), and the interaction effect between time and group was statistically significant (F=5.728, P<0.01). The time effects, group effects, and interaction effect of the total score of PMGQ in both groups were all without statistical significance (F=2.672, 0.166, 0.642, P>0.05 for both). ConclusionSmartphone game intervention may help improve the cognitive function of patients with chronic schizophrenia (especially immediate memory, verbal function, and delayed memory), and the benefits are greater for female patients. The smartphone game intervention did not induce game addiction, but no significant improvement in psychotic symptoms was observed. 3.Research advances of biohybrid robotics in medical applications

Biohybrid robots are hybrid systems that deeply integrate living biological components (such as cells, tissues, organs, or microorganisms) with artificial synthetic components (including sensors, actuators, control systems, and structural materials). Focusing on key advancements in cellular/microbial-level and tissue-level biohybrid robots, the applications in two major scenarios: targeted drug delivery in vivo and drug evaluation in vitro were reviewed. International research progress demonstrated that biohybrid robots offered novel solutions for overcoming deep tissue delivery barriers, enhancing biocompatibility, and enabling real-time monitoring. However, their clinical translation still faced critical challenges, including reproducibility, in vivo/in vitro nutrient supply, encapsulation technologies, and safety regulatory frameworks.
4.Monitoring and analysis of eye lens dose of interventional radiology workers

Objective To investigate the levels and influencing factors for eye lens dose of interventional radiology workers, and to provide a basis for reasonable and scientific radiation protection. Methods Thermoluminescent eye lens dosimeters were used to monitor the left and right eye lens doses of interventional radiology workers in real time during different surgical positions and varying eye protection conditions. The annual eye lens doses for the operators were estimated based on their yearly workload. The differences in eye lens doses under different conditions were analyzed and the influencing factors were identified. Results For individual interventional operations, the range of personal dose equivalent Hp(3) of the left eye of interventional radiology workers was ( < MDL ~ 418.33) μSv, the median (Q1, Q3) was 9.29 ( < MDL, 40.79) μSv, and the mean was 40.79 ± 70.36 μSv. The estimated annual eye lens doses were 4.05 mSv and 17.80 mSv based on the median and mean values of the eye lens dose of a single operation multiplied by average annual frequency of operations per person, respectively. The left eye lens dose was higher than the right eye lens dose of the same operator (Z = −4.24, P < 0.05), and the dose of the right eye lens was strongly positively correlated with that of the left eye lens. The left eye lens dose of the first surgeon was higher than that of the second surgeon in the same operation (Z = −3.10, P < 0.05). The eye lens dose was influenced by operator position (χ2 = 9.149, P = 0.002, OR = 8.343), eye protection (χ2 = 4.619, P = 0.032, OR = 4.352), and air kerma area product (χ2 = 8.032, P = 0.005, OR = 5.488). Conclusion According to the results of this study, a significant portion of interventional operators have eye lens doses that approach or exceed international occupational dose limits. It is recommended to pay attention to the operation frequency of the first operator and the air kerma area product of interventional operation, and strengthen radiation protection and dose monitoring for the eye lens of interventional radiology workers.
5.Clinical efficacy of camrelizumab combined with apatinib versus camrelizumab combined with chemotherapy regimens as first-line treatment for advanced gastric cancer

OBJECTIVE To compare the clinical efficacy and safety of camrelizumab combined with apatinib versus camrelizumab combined with chemotherapy as first-line treatment for advanced gastric cancer. METHODS A prospective randomized controlled trial was conducted, enrolling 99 patients with advanced gastric cancer admitted to the Chuzhou First People’s Hospital from March 2022 to December 2024. Patients were randomly assigned using a random number table: 48 received camrelizumab plus chemotherapy (control group), and 51 received camrelizumab plus apatinib (observation group). Clinical efficacy, serum tumor marker[carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA),carbohydrate antigen(CA)724,CA199,CA242]levels, immune function indicators(CD3+,CD4+,CD8+,CD4+/CD8+) levels before and after treatment, and adverse drug reaction (ADR) during treatment were compared between the 2 groups. RESULTS A total of 2 patients in the observation group and 3 in the control group were lost to follow-up. The disease control rate and objective response rate in the observation group were 95.92% and 85.71%, respectively, both significantly higher than 80.00% and 55.56% in the control group (P<0.05). The median progression-free survival was 9.61 months in the observation group, significantly longer than 6.72 months in the control group (P=0.011). Before treatment, there was no statistically significant difference in the levels of serum tumor markers and immune function indicators between the 2 groups (P>0.05). After treatment, the levels of CEA, CA724, CA199 and CA242 in 2 groups were significantly lower than before treatment, while the levels of CD3⁺, CD4⁺ and CD4 ⁺/CD8 ⁺ were significantly higher than before treatment, with greater improvements in the observation group (all P<0.05). The overall incidences of ADR and severe ADR showed no statistically significant difference between the 2 groups (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS Camrelizumab combined with apatinib as first-line therapy for advanced gastric cancer may offer advantages over camrelizumab plus chemotherapy in terms of clinical efficacy and immune function improvement of patients, with an acceptable safety profile.
6.Alleviation of sleep deprivation-induced hyper sleepiness and cognitive impairment by pitolisant, a histamine H3 receptor inverse agonist

Objective To investigate the effects of the H3 receptor inverse agonist pitolisant on wakefulness and cognitive behavior in mice subjected to sleep deprivation, and assess its potential wake-promoting and pro-cognitive properties. Methods A mouse model of sleep deprivation was utilized, in which sleep deprivation was performed for 6, 12, and 24 h by an automatic rotating rod system. Pitolisant (20 mg/kg, i.p.) or saline control was administered prior to the end of deprivation. Quantitative wakefulness was monitored by polysomnographic recordings and spontaneous locomotion, spatial learning and memory were assessed through open field test and Morris water maze test, respectively. Results Pitolisant significantly increased wake duration after all sleep deprivation periods, with the most prominent effect observed in the early recovery phase. In the 24 h deprivation model, pitolisant also significantly improved spontaneous locomotor activity and showed a potential enhancement of spatial learning and memory, although the effects did not reach statistical significance. Conclusion Pitolisant not only enhanced wakefulness but also showed partial pro-cognitive effects following sleep loss, which supported its potential application in improving cognitive impairment associated with various sleep disorders.
7.Exploration on the paths of medical ethics education for medical students from the perspective of youth moral cultivation

The view of youth moral cultivation clearly defines the scope of “morality” and puts forward the requirement of “cultivating morality” for the youth. This is a systematic concept aligned with the main theme of the times and is worth deeply exploring and integrating into the practice of medical ethics education for medical students. With the requirements for innovation and development in medical education, the cultivation of medical students has also been endowed with new connotations. Guided by the connotations of the view of youth moral cultivation and aligned with the objective requirements of medical students’ cultivation, this paper leveraged the core values of traditional Chinese medicine as its entry point. It also explored the realization paths of medical ethics education for medical students that reflect advantages, highlight characteristics, and maintain clear orientation through strengthening the medical ethics education of “dedicated study of medicine,” “honesty and prudence in words and deeds,” “benevolence in heart and skills,” and “doctor-patient trust and harmony,” aiming to cultivate guardians of people’s health with noble medical ethics and superb medical skills.
8.Diagnostic value of intratumoral and peritumoral MRI radiomics for bone metastasis in prostate cancer

Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)-based intratumoral and peritumoral radiomics of prostate cancer(PCa)for bone metastases.Methods A total of 211 patients diagnosed with PCa by biopsy pathology at Gansu Provincial People's Hospital from January 2018 to January 2023 were retrospectively analyzed.These patients were randomly divided into a training set(n=147)and a validation set(n=64)in a 7:3 ratio.Regions of interest(ROIs)were delineated from the patients'T2-weighted imaging(T2WI),diffusion-weighted imaging(DWI),and apparent diffusion coefficient imaging(ADC)sequences to extract radiomic features.Z-score(normalization)and the LASSO algorithm were used for feature dimensionality reduction,selection,and construction.A predictive model was then built using a logistic regression(LR)machine learning classifier.The receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was plotted,and the area under the curve(AUC)was calculated to assess the model's performance.Calibration curves and decision curves(DCA)were plotted to evaluate the model's fit and clinical net benefit.Results Radiomic features were extracted from the tumor and peritumoral regions in each patient's T2WI,DWI,and ADC images,with a total of 312 features from each region.The LASSO regression model ultimately identified 10 intratumoral radiomic features closely related to bone metastasis,including 2 T2 sequence features,7 DWI features,and 1 ADC sequence feature;and 9 peritumoral radiomic features,including 4 T2 sequence features,3 DWI features,and 2 ADC sequence features.The predictive model based on intratumoral radiomic features achieved an AUC of 0.845(95%CI 0.747-0.943),while the predictive model based on peritumoral radiomic features had an AUC of 0.818(95%CI 0.716-0.919).A combined nomogram model incorporating intratumoral features,peritumoral radiomic features,and clinical features(including Gleason score,total prostate specific antigen,and body mass index)yielded an AUC of 0.936(95%CI 0.902-0.970).Calibration curves indicated that the combined model had good fit,and DCA demonstrated that the combined model provided better clinical net benefit.Conclusions Peritumoral radiomics has excellent predictive value for bone metastasis in newly diagnosed PCa.Combining with intratumoral radiomics features and clinical features,it significantly enhances the predictive capability of the model.
9.Role of homeobox B9 and its post-translational modifications in the genesis and development of tumor

Homeobox(HOX)genes encode a group of proteins that are highly conserved and closely related to the axial differentiation of embryos.The disorder of segmental development caused by HOX genes deficiency or abnormal expression has been observed in drosophila and mice.However,subsequent studies have found that proteins encoded by the HOX gene family are also involved in the regulation of tumor genesis and development.The roles of the whole HOX family had been reviewed by the author in the past,and through the in-depth researches,the author paid attention to the pivotal role of HOXB9 and made new progress in the study of post-translational modifications of this protein.Taking HOXB9 as a clue,this review summarizes the tumor-related signaling pathways and the modulating effects of post-translational modification of HOXB9 on tumor progression,as well as the possible research directions in the future.
10.TACE combined with CBCT-guided MWA simultaneous treatment for small hepatocellular carcinoma:analysis of clinical efficacy and safety

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of simultaneous treatment of small hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)with transarterial chemoembolization(TACE)combined with cone-beam computed tomography-guided(CBCT-guided)microwave ablation(MWA).Methods The clinical data of 69 patients with small HCC(72 lesions in total),who underwent TACE combined with CBCT-guided MWA simultaneous treatment from March 2018 to December 2022 at First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University hospital,were retrospectively analyzed.Follow-up check was performed at 1,3,6,and 12 months after treatment.The mRECIST criteria was used to evaluate the tumor response.The objective response rate(ORR),disease control rate(DCR),progression-free survival(PFS),local tumor progression(LTP),and adverse reactions were analyzed.Results The initial complete remission(CR)rate,ORR and DCR of TACE combined with CBCT-guided MWA simultaneous treatment for small HCC was 94.2%(65/69),100%and 100%respectively.44.9%(31/69)of patients experienced tumor progression,and 20.3%(14/69)of patients experienced local tumor progression.Univariate and multivariate analyses showed that the maximum tumor diameter(≥2 cm and<3 cm)was the main risk factor for PFS(HR=4.498,P<0.001).No serious adverse events occurred during the study.Conclusion TACE combined with CBCT-guided MWA simultaneous treatment for small HCC is clinically effect and safe,and this therapy is particularly suitable for the treatment of lesions where the use of traditional image-guided methods is limited.
