International Journal of Oral Science 2025;17(1):33-33
The repair of the periodontal membrane is essential for the successful management of periodontal disease and dental trauma. Emdogain® (EMD) is widely used in periodontal therapy due to its ability to promote repair. Despite substantial research, the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying EMD's effects, particularly at the single-cell resolution, remain incompletely understood. This study established a delayed tooth replantation model in rats to investigate these aspects. Tooth loss rate and degree of loosening were evaluated at 4 and 8 weeks. Micro-CT, HE staining, TRAP staining, and immunofluorescence staining were evaluated to assess EMD's efficacy. Single-cell sequencing analyses generated single-cell maps that explored enrichment pathways, cell communication, and potential repair mechanisms. Findings indicated that EMD could reduce the rate of tooth loss, promote periodontal membrane repair, and reduce root and bone resorption. Single-cell analysis revealed that EMD promotes the importance of Vtn+ fibroblasts, enhancing matrix and tissue regeneration functions. Additionally, EMD stimulated osteogenic pathways, reduced osteoclastic activity, and promoted angiogenesis-related pathways, particularly bone-related H-type vessel expression in endothelial cells. Gene modules associated with angiogenesis, osteogenesis, and odontoblast differentiation were identified, suggesting EMD might facilitate osteogenesis and odontoblast differentiation by upregulating endothelium-related genes. Immune cell analysis indicated that EMD did not elicit a significant immune response. Cell communication analysis suggested that EMD fostered pro-regenerative networks driven by interactions between mesenchymal stem cells, fibroblasts, and endothelial cells. In conclusion, EMD proves to be an effective root surface therapy agent that supports the restoration of delayed replantation teeth.

Space Medicine & Medical Engineering 2025;36(2):152-158
When conducting extravehicular activities under low-gravity conditions like on the moon, the weight of the spacesuit is one of the loads that human body has to bear. The centroid position of the spacesuit will affect the motion control of the human-spacesuit system. In order to reveal the influence of the centroid position of the lunar spacesuit on human motion under lunar-gravity,a suspended 1/6 gravity simulation system was used for the experiment. When subjects were under different load centroids which include front and back on sagittal plane, left and right on coronal plane,up and down on cross-section plane, near to coordinate origin, the postures and plantar pressures of subjects during three typical movements:standing,single-knee standing and walking were captured.Inverse dynamics solution is adopted to analyze the joint torques of human body in above conditions.Combined with the subjective evaluation, the appropriate load centroid area was analyzed by comparative. The experiment shows that, human is non-sensitive to the up and down change of load centroid, the after is back change, the front and right load centroid are the mostly avoided. The results obtained by this study will provide a reference for the layout design of the lunar spacesuit.

Seven novel acylphloroglucinol-sesquiterpenoid adducts, designated as dryatraols J-P (1-7), were isolated from the rhizomes of Dryopteris atrata (Wall. ex Kunze) Ching. The structures, including absolute configurations, were elucidated using comprehensive spectroscopic data, calculated 13C Nuclear Magnetic Resonance-Diastereotopic Probability Assignment Plus (13C NMR-DP4+) probability analysis, and ECD calculations. These structures represent a rare subclass of carbon skeleton of acylphloroglucinol-sesquiterpenoid adducts with a furan ring connecting the acylphloroglucinol and sesquiterpenoid moieties. Notably, compounds 1-6 are the first reported examples of acylphloroglucinol-sesquiterpenoid adducts with dimeric acylphloroglucinol incorporated into the aristolane- or rulepidanol-type sesquiterpene, while compound 7 features a hydroxylated monomeric acylphloroglucinol motif. A preliminary evaluation of their antiviral activities revealed that compounds 1-6 exhibited more potent activities against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) with IC50 values ranging from 0.75 to 3.12 μmol·L-1 compared to the positive control (ribavirin).

Chinese Journal of Endemiology 2025;44(1):25-29
Objective:To investigate the iodine nutrition level and the prevalence of thyroid nodules in pregnant women in Hubei Province, and to provide a basis for prevention and treatment of iodine deficiency disorders. Methods:According to the requirements of the National Iodine Deficiency Disorders Monitoring Program (2016 Edition), a cross-sectional survey of iodine nutrition status of pregnant women ( n = 321) was conducted from July to October 2020 in two mountainous counties (Tongcheng County and Xingshan County) and two plain counties (Liangzihu District and Xinzhou District) in Hubei Province. Among them, there were 43, 114, and 164 pregnant women in the early, middle, and late stages of pregnancy, respectively. Edible salt samples and once random urine samples were collected to detect salt iodine and urinary iodine, and thyroid ultrasound was performed to calculate the detection rate of thyroid nodules. Results:The coverage rate of iodized salt, qualified rate of iodized salt, and consumption rate of qualified iodized salt in Hubei Province were 99.69% (320/321), 95.94% (307/320) and 95.64% (307/321), respectively. The median urinary iodine level for pregnant women was 164.80 μg/L. Among them, the median urinary iodine levels in Liangzihu District, Tongcheng County, Xinzhou District, and Xingshan County were 175.90, 178.25, 155.80 and 143.00 μg/L, respectively. There was a statistically significant difference in urinary iodine levels among different regions ( H = 8.51, P = 0.037). The median urinary iodine levels of pregnant women in the early, middle, and late stages of pregnancy were 187.20, 144.45, and 172.05 μg/L, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference in urinary iodine levels among pregnant women in different stages of pregnancy ( H = 2.94, P = 0.230). Urinary iodine < 150, 150 - < 250, 250 - < 500, ≥500 μg/L accounted for 45.48% (146/321), 33.33% (107/321), 19.63% (63/321), 1.56% (5/321), respectively. The detection rate of thyroid nodules was 16.82% (54/321), and the goiter rate was 0.93% (3/321). Conclusions:In 2020, Hubei Province is in an appropriate state of iodine, and there are still a considerable proportion of pregnant women in a state of iodine deficiency. The detection rate of thyroid nodules is relatively low. It is necessary to continuously monitor the iodine nutrition of pregnant women, strengthen health promotion on the hazards of iodine deficiency during pregnancy, and minimize maternal and infant health damage caused by iodine deficiency.
