1.Positive Association of TEAD1 With Schizophrenia in a Northeast Chinese Han Population

Objective:
Schizophrenia is a complex and devastating psychiatric disorder with a strong genetic background. However, much uncertainty still exists about the role of genetic susceptibility in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia. TEA domain transcription factor 1 (TEAD1) is a transcription factor associated with neurodevelopment and has modulating effects on various nervous system diseases. In the current study, we performed a case–control association study in a Northeast Chinese Han population to explore the characteristics of pathogenic TEAD1 polymorphisms and potential association with schizophrenia.
Methods:
We recruited a total of 721 schizophrenia patients and 1,195 healthy controls in this study. The 9 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the gene region of TEAD1 were selected and genotyped.
Results:
The genetic association analyses showed that five SNPs (rs12289262, rs6485989, rs4415740, rs7113256, and rs1866709) were significantly different between schizophrenia patients and healthy controls in allele or/and genotype frequencies. After Bonferroni correction, the association of three SNPs (rs4415740, rs7113256, and rs1866709) with schizophrenia were still evident. Haplotype analysis revealed that two strong linkage disequilibrium blocks (rs6485989-rs4415740-rs7113256 and rs16911710-rs12364619-rs1866709) were globally associated with schizophrenia. Four haplotypes (C-C-C and T-T-T, rs6485989-rs4415740-rs7113256; G-T-A and G-T-G, rs16911710-rs12364619-rs1866709) were significantly different between schizophrenia patients and healthy controls.
Conclusion
The current findings indicated that the human TEAD1 gene has a genetic association with schizophrenia in the Chinese Han population and may act as a susceptibility gene for schizophrenia.
2.Analysis of outpatient choice and its influencing factors of hypertensive patients with medical insurance in Beijing

Objective:To investigate the current status and influencing factors of outpatient institution choice for hypertensive patients with basic medical insurance in Beijing, for reference to promote the implementation of the hierarchical medical system and guiding hypertensive patients to seek healthcare in primary care.Methods:Based on data of hypertensive outpatients from the basic medical insurance database of Beijing from April 2019 to January 2020, we analyzed major demographic characteristics of hypertensive patients, the selection of outpatient institutions and its influencing factors. The chi square test was used for comparison between groups, and the multivariate logistic regression model was used to analyze influencing factors.Results:2.842 1 million outpatients with hypertension were enrolled. 39.03% of them chose primary healthcare institutions, 5.16% chose secondary healthcare institutions, and 17.34% chose tertiary healthcare institutions, while the rest 38.47% chose two or more types of healthcare institutions. Gender, age, type of medical insurance, place of residence, utilization of Chinese herbal drugs, utilization of Chinese patent drugs, polypharmacy, needs of outpatient tests and examinations were the influencing factors for their selection of primary healthcare institutions for hypertensive outpatients under Beijing basic medical insurance.Conclusions:At present, the primary institutions have become the first choice for the majority of hypertensive patients with medical insurance in Beijing, but there are still many influencing factors on their choice of institutions. In the future, we should optimize the allocation of medical resources, promote the reform of medical insurance payment methods, strengthen the construction of primary medical institutions, expand the coverage of contracted services of family doctors, and reasonably guide the patients to seek healthcare in primary healthcare institutions.
3.Value of Combined Detection of Cytokines and Tumor Markers in the Differential Diagnosis of Benign and Malignant Solitary Pulmonary Nodules.

BACKGROUND:
Solitary pulmonary nodule has received increasing attention in recent years. A couple of lung nodules have been recognized as primary malignant tumors, which leads to an urgent need in enhancing the diagnosis of benign/malignant lung nodules at clinical settings. This study aims to explore the value of the combined detection of cytokines and tumor markers in differencing benign and malignant solitary pulmonary nodules in diagnose.
METHODS:
With 81 solitary pulmonary nodules cases with a clear diagnosis, the general clinical data, nodule imaging features, pathological diagnosis data, serological index cytokine series and tumor marker expression levels were collected in groups. Both single factor and multi-factors analysis were conducted to screen out the serum influence indexes that can predict the malignant probability of lung nodules, and mean while binary logistic regression analysis was used to construct joint indexes; After receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) was drawn, the area under the curve and the corresponding sensitivity, specificity and positive of each index predicted value, negative predicted value and accuracy could be calculated with a view to determine the statistical significance of area under the curve (AUC).
RESULTS:
There are differences in the distribution of malignant solitary pulmonary nodules at different locations, with the highest proportion of the right upper lobe (40.4%). The serum levels of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), cytokeratin 19 fragment 21-1 (CYFRA21-1), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-8 (IL-8) in the malignant nodule group were higher than those in the benign nodule group. Logistic regression analysis suggests that CEA, IL-6 and IL-8 are independent risk factors for predicting malignant nodules. ROC curve analysis shows that the areas under the curve of the individual indicators CEA, IL-6 and IL-8 are 0.642, 0.684 and 0.749. The comparison result of the test efficiency of the area under the curve suggests that CEA+IL-6+IL-8 has a larger area under the curve and higher detection efficiency.
CONCLUSIONS
CEA, IL-6 and IL-8 are independent risk factors for malignant solitary pulmonary nodules. The combined detection of cytokines and tumor markers has played a role in the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant lung nodules. The diagnostic value of the combined detection of CEA+IL-6+IL-8 is the highest.
4.Effect of Tai Chi and Resistance Training on Cancer-Related Fatigue and Quality of Life in Middle-Aged and Elderly Cancer Patients.

OBJECTIVE:
To study the effect of Tai Chi (TC) and resistance training (RT) with different intensity on the cancer-related fatigue (CRF) and quality of life (QoL) of middle-aged and elderly cancer patients.
METHODS:
Totally 120 cancer patients were enrolled and randomly assigned to 4 groups by a random number table, including TC group, high-intensity 60% one repetition maximum (1-RM) RT group (HIRT), low-intensity (30% 1-RM) RT group (LIRT) and control group, 30 patients in each group. Participants in the TC group received 24-form simplified Yang-style TC training at a frequency of 40 min per day, 3 days per week for 12 weeks. Patients in the two RT groups received 10 sessions, 6 designated movements per day, 3 days per week for 12 weeks. The 1-RM of 6 muscle groups, fat mass (FM), lean body mass (LBM), along with the scores of Brief Fatigue Inventory (BFI), QoL questionnaire for Chinese cancer patients receiving chemobiotherapy (QLQ-CCC), Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7), Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) were measured before and after training. The adverse effect was also observed.
RESULTS:
After 12-week intervention, patients in both TC and RT groups showed significant improvements in CRF and QLQ-CCC compared to pre-treatment (P<0.05). Compared with the LIRT and TC groups, patients in the HIRT group improved more significantly in increasing muscle strength and LBM, and reducing in FM (P<0.05). Patients in the TC group significantly increased in lower limb muscle strength compared with the LIRT group (P<0.05). In addition, patients in the TC group showed more significant improvements in scores of GAD-7, PHQ-9 and PSQI than 2 RT groups (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONS
TC and RT, both low- and high-intensity training, can significantly increase muscle strength, reduce CRF and improve QoL in the middle-aged and elderly cancer patients. TC has a better effect than RT in terms of sleep quality and mental health. The long-term application is needed to substantiate the effect of TC as an alternative exercise in cancer patients.

Anxiety is one of the most common diseases endangering human health. Its pathogenesis is complex, the studies on the mechanisms of anxiety disorder are concentrated on neurotransmitter, neuroendocrine, immunologic system. Flavonoids are a kind of compounds which possess a variety of physiological activity, used in plenty of diseases. In recent years, researches of natural flavonoids on anti-anxiety were increasing, but contents were incomplete. It was just involved several neurotransmitters in research area. This paper is based on different anxiolytic effect mechanisms and structure-activity relationships of natural flavonoids, summarizing the researches of domestic and foreign, which can serve as a reference for further studies on anxiolytic effects of natural flavonoids.
7.Preliminary clinical evaluation of nerve growth factor gel on neuroprotecion in patients with glaucoma

To evaluate the neuroprotective effect of nerve growth factor ( NGF ) on acute angle-closure glaucoma patients after trabeculetomy.METHODS: Patients with viral keratitis who underwent trabeculectomy in treatment of acute angle - closure glaucoma in Xiamen Eye Center of Xiamen University from December 2011 to October 2013 were selected and completed the treatment, 61 eyes of 45 cases were followed up. The treatment group of 23 cases (32 eyes) with acute angle-closure glaucoma patients were treated by NGF gel for 3mo after trabeculetomy, while in the control group 22 cases (29 eyes) were treated by normal saline replaced NGF. All patients were followed up for at least 12mo, visual acuity, perimetry, retinal nerve fiber layer ( RNFL) thickness and cup/disc ratio of the patients were followed up during the treatment. The safety of topical use of NGF gel was also evaluated.RESULTS:ln all patients, the intraocular pressure ( lOP) was successfully controlled under 21mmHg and the visual acuity was markedly increased in the affected eye after trabeculectomy. Compared with control group, the postoperative lOP and visual acuity had no significant differences in treatment group (P>0. 05). The average light sensitivity of perimetry and mean defect were better than that in control group postoperative 6 and 12mo; The results of optical coherent tomography ( OCT ) and Heiderburg Retina Tomography ( HRT )-Ⅲ showed that RNFL thickness was significantly greater than that in control group, while cup/disc ratio significantly less than that in control group postoperative 6 and 12mo. Ocular surface damage, corneal endothelium to reduce and other eye complication were no observed in treatment group.CONCLUSlON:Acute angle-closure glaucoma treated by NGF gel after operation is effective and safe.
