Objective:To compare the efficacy and safety of continuous venetoclax combined azacitidine (VA) chemotherapy and intermedium/high-dose cytarabine (I/HDAC) consolidation in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) fit for standard chemotherapy (transform from UNFIT) .Methods:Clinical data of patients who were fit for standard chemotherapy were collected among those with AML who underwent VA induction in the Department of Hematology, the Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University. The overall survival (OS), relapse-free survival (RFS), event-free survival (EFS), and incidence of adverse events were analyzed retrospectively.Results:This study enrolled 69 patients, consisting of 46 cases in the VA group and 23 cases in the I/HDAC group. We revealed the following. ① The median OS, RFS, EFS were 26.18, 24.69, 20.34 months in the VA group, and 34.14, 30.99, 28.42 months in the I/HDAC group, respectively, with no statistically significant difference (all P>0.05). Median OS of patients who underwent I/HDAC consolidation with European Leukemia Net (ELN) favorable-risk, positive measurable residual disease (MRD), wild type FLT3, or IDH1/2 mutation was significantly longer than those who received VA ( P<0.05). ②Adverse events rate of grade 3 - 4 neutropenia, grade 3 - 4 thrombocytopenia, and bacteremia were significantly lower in the VA group than in the I/HDAC group ( P<0.05) . Conclusions:I/HDAC consolidation was more likely to help get survival benefits for patients with ELN favorable-risk, positive MRD, wild type FLT3, or IDH1/2 mutation. Continuous VA chemotherapy exhibited superior safety than I/HDAC consolidation.

It is believed that Shengyang Yiwei Decoction （升阳益胃汤， SYD） is effective in regulating the flow of Qi （气）， and can treat various diseases caused by the disorder of the spleen and stomach Qi. In clinical practice， based on the pathological characteristics of children often having insufficient spleen， and adhering to the principle of treating different diseases with the same method， the focus is placed on the core pathogenesis of spleen and stomach Qi disharmony. We use SYD in various pediatric conditions such as allergic rhinitis， post COVID-19 condition， urethral syndrome， and dysfunctional uterine bleeding in adolescence， and emphasize the treatment is flexibly tailored to the symptoms.

Objective:To assess the feasibility of wavelet index (WLI) in monitoring the depth of sedation with propofol in pediatric patients.Methods:This was a prospective observational trial. One hundred and sixty-five pediatric patients, aged >1-12 yr, of American Society of Anesthesiologists Physical Status classification Ⅰ or Ⅱ, undergoing elective surgery requiring general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation or laryngeal mask airway from July to December 2016 in our hospital, were divided into 11 age groups ( n=15 each): >1-2 yr group, >2-3 yr group, >3-4 yr group, >4-5 yr group, >5-6 yr group, >6-7 yr group, >7-8 yr group, >8-9 yr group, >9-10 yr group, >10-11 yr group, and >11-12 yr group. General anesthesia was induced by injection of propofol 3 mg/kg for more than 30 s. WLI and BIS values were recorded immediately before administration and at 30, 40, 50, 60, 90, 120, 180 and 240 s after the end of administration. If there were differences among age groups, age groups with no statistically significant differences were combined and re-grouped. Pearson linear correlation analysis and Bland-Altman consistency analysis were performed. Results:A total of 149 pediatric patients were actually included. There were no significant differences in BIS values between 4 groups aged > 1-5 yr and between 7 groups aged > 5-12 yr ( P>0.05). Regrouping was performed based on the aforementioned results, 4 groups of children aged > 1-5 yr were divided into > 1-5 yr group ( n=60), and 7 groups of children aged > 5-12 yr were divided into > 5-12 yr group ( n=89). WLI values and BIS values were significantly decreased at each time point after administration compared with immediately before administration in group aged > 1-5 yr and in group aged >5-12 yr ( P<0.05). The BIS values were the lowest at 60 s after the end of the administration, and the WLI values were the lowest at 120 and 180 s after the end of the administration in two groups ( P<0.05). There were no statistically significant differences between WLI values and BIS values at 90 s and 240 s after the end of the administration ( P>0.05), and there was statistically significant difference at the other time points in group aged > 1-5 yr ( P<0.05). There was no significant difference between WLI values and BIS values at 180 s and 240 s after the end of the administration ( P>0.05), but there were significant differences at the other time points in group aged > 5-12 yr ( P<0.05). The Pearson correlation coefficients between WLI values and BIS values were 0.61 and 0.56 in group aged > 1-5 yr and group aged > 5-12 yr, respectively ( P<0.001). Bland-Altman agreement analysis: In group aged > 1-5 yr and group aged > 5-12 yr, the 95% agreement limits were -0.484-0.621 and -0.551-1.015, respectively, and there were 4.6% (23/504) and 5.1% (40/777) of the points outside the 95% agreement limits, respectively, and both limits exceeded the clinically acceptable range. Conclusions:WLI is feasible for monitoring the depth of sedation with propofol in pediatric patients aged > 1-12 yr, but the accuracy is lower than BIS.

Objective:To explore the safety and efficacy of laparoscopic non-blocking partial nephrectomy assisted by high power lateral green laser in the treatment of T 1a renal tumor. Methods:The clinical data of 10 patients with T1a stage renal tumor from February 2021 to April 2021 in department of urology, Gongli hospital affiliated to Naval Military Medical University were retrospectively analyzed. There were 7 males and 3 females, aged 47.0-74.0 years, with average of(58.8±9.7)years old. The diameter of the tumor ranged from 2.0 cm to 3.8 cm, with an average of (3.1±0.6)cm. There were 6 cases on the left side and 4 cases on the right side, locate on lumbar side in 9 cases and ventral sied in 1 case. The R. E.N.A.L score was 4.0-6.0, with an average of (5.0±0.8). The preoperative creatinine was 66.9-90.1μmol/L, with an average of (75.1±9.0)μmol/L, preoperative GFR of 44. 6- 67. 3 ml /min, with an average of(56.7±7.7)ml/min, preoperative hemoglobin level of 119.0-156.0g/L, with an average of (135.8±11.4)g/L. All patients underwent laparoscopic non-blocking partial nephrectomy assisted by 180w lateral green laser, free the surrounding area of the tumor fully and completely expose the renal tumor. The laser fiber was placed through the green laser hand piece, and the fiber was connected with normal saline to wash the strip. The initial green laser vaporization power was set at 80W, and the hemostasis power at 35W.About 3mm away from the edge of the tumor, and one optical fiber away from the renal parenchyma, the renal parenchyma was cut with 80W power. In order to reduce the interference by smoke, high-pressure flushing was used through the optical fiber while vaporizing, and an attractor was used to push and peel the tumor. In case of bleeding during operation, hemostatic power can be used to close the bleeding point and gradually advance until the tumor was completely removed. The wounds of renal inner medulla and renal outer cortex were continuously sutured in 1-3 layers with barbed suture. It involved 9 cases via retroperitoneal approach and 1 case via abdominal approach. The operation time, postoperative hemoglobin decrease, extraction time of negative pressure drainage, postoperative hospital stay, postoperative pathology and postoperative complications were recorded, and the serum creatinine level and GFR level of the affected side were followed up 1 month after operation.Results:All the operations were successfully completed, and there was no conversion to open surgery or radical nephrectomy. One case changed to scissors fast resection and sutured hemostasis due to severe intraoperative bleeding. The operation time was 90.0-120.0 min, with the average of (104.5±9.0)min. The postoperative hemoglobin level was 96.0-132.0g/L, with an average of (115.2±11.8)g/L, and the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.05). The postoperative hemoglobin decreased from 12.0g/L to 25.0g/L, with an average of (20.6±4.6)g/L. The time of vacuum drainage was 5.0-7.0 days, with an average of (5.7±0.7)d. Postoperative hospital stay was 6.0-8.0 days, with an average of (6.7±0.7)d. No bleeding, urinary leakage and other complications occurred in all patients. There were 7 cases of clear cell carcinoma, 2 cases of papillary renal cell carcinoma and 1 case of angiomyolipoma. All margins were negative. One month after operation, creatinine ranged from 66.0 to 90.4μmol/L, with an average of (76.8±8.3)μmol/L, which was not significantly different compared with that before operation ( P>0.05). One month after operation, GFR was 45.1-60.8 ml/min, and with an average of (55.5±4.7)ml/min, and there was no significant difference compared with preoperative data( P>0.05). Conclusions:For T 1aN 0M 0 stage and exophytic renal tumors, laparoscopic non-blocking partial nephrectomy assisted by lateral green laser is safe and effective.

Objective:To determine the therapeutic effect of in vitro cultivation of bezoar on a mouse model adding disease with syndrome of coronavirus pneumonia with Yidu Xifei syndrome. Method:BALB/c mice were randomly divided into six groups according to their weight grade： normal group， HCoV-229E infection group， cold and damp group， a mouse model combining disease with syndrome of coronavirus pneumonia with Yidu Xifei syndrome， and high and low dose group of in vitro cultivation of bezoar. The combination model of human coronavirus pneumonia with Yidu Xifei syndrome mice was established by the method of cold dampness condition stimulation+coronavirus HCoV-229E infection. In vitro cultivation of bezoar （0.128，0.064 g·kg^-1） was administrated by gavage for 3 days from the day of infection. The observation indexes included： general state observation of mice， inhibition rate of lung index and lung index of mice. Real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction （Real-time PCR） was used to detect the viral load in the lung tissues of mice. Serum levels of motilin（MTL）， gastrin （GAS）， and cytokines interleukin（IL）-10，IL-6， tumor necrosis factor-α（TNF-α）and interferon-γ（IFN-γ） in lung tissue of mice were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay（ELISA）. The percentages of CD4⁺ T lymphocytes，CD8⁺ T lymphocytes and B lymphocytes in the blood of mice were determined by flow cytometry. Result:The high and low dose group of in vitro cultivation of bezoar can significantly improve the general condition of model mice. Compared with blank group， model group mice lung index increased significantly （P<0.01）， nucleic acids significantly increased expression of lung tissue in mice （P<0.01）， significantly higher serum MTL content in mice， GAS content significantly decreased （P<0.05，P<0.01）， lung tissue cells in the immune factor TNF-α， IL-10 and IL-6 were significantly increased （P<0.01）， peripheral blood lymphocyte CD4⁺ T cells in mice， The percentages of CD8⁺ T cells and B cells were significantly decreased （P<0.01）. Compared with model group， in vitro cultivation bezoar mice lung index of high and low dose group were significantly lower （P<0.01）， the lung tissue of mice express nucleic acid decreased significantly （P<0.01）， MTL content decreased significantly （P<0.01）， the lung tissue of mice in the IL-6， IL-10， the TNF-α， IFN-γ levels were significantly lower （P<0.01）， in vitro cultivation bezoar high dose group can significantly increase the CD4⁺ T cell percentage （P<0.05）， in vitro cultivation bezoar can to a certain extent reduce model mice lung inflammatory exudation， pulmonary interstitial edema， as well as blood stasis symptoms. Conclusion:In vitro cultivation of bezoar has a significant therapeutic effect on a mice model adding disease with syndrome of coronavirus pneumonia with Yidu Xifei syndrome. It can be treated by reducing the lung index of the model mice， improving the pathological damage of the lung tissue， adjusting the immune effective and inhibiting the clearing of inflammatory factors， and to provide a laboratory basis for clinical medication.

Objective:To observe the effect of interleukin-6 (IL-6) on the phenotype and function of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and explore the role of IL-6 in the process of endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndMT).Methods:The experimental research method was used. Fresh umbilical cord discarded after normal maternal delivery was collected. On the second day of the primary cell isolation and cultivation, the cell morphology was observed under inverted phase contrast microscope. HUVECs of the 4th passage were identified by immunofluorescence method, and 2 batches of HUVECs ofthe 3rd to 5th passages were used for the subsequent experiments. The first batch of cells were divided into 6 groups according to the random number table (the same below): blank control group, 5 ng/mL IL-6 group, 10 ng/mL IL-6 group, 25 ng/mL IL-6 group, 50 ng/mL IL-6 group, and 100 ng/mL IL-6 group. The second batch of cells were divided into 4 groups: blank control group, 10 ng/mL IL-6 group, 25 ng/mL IL-6 group,and 50 ng/mL IL-6 group; the cells in blank control group was cultured with complete culture medium only, while the cells in the other groups were added with IL-6 of the corresponding final mass concentrations.Cells from the 1st batch were cultured for 72 hours after grouping, the morphology of HUVECS in the 6 groups was observed under inverted phase contrast microscope. At 72 h after grouping culture, the positive expressions of coagulation factor Ⅷ and α vascular smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) in HUVECs in the 6 groups were detected by immunofluorescence method, and the ratio of the number of double positive cells to the number of coagulation factor Ⅷ positive cells (the ratio of double positive cells for short) was calculated, with 6 samples per group; mRNA expression levels of vascular endothelial cadherin and α-SMA of HUVECs in 6 groups were detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, with 3 samples per group.Cells from the 2nd batch were cultured 72 hours after grouping, the protein expression levels of vascular endothelial cadherin, α-SMA, and type Ⅰ collagen in the 4 groups were detected by Western blotting, with 3 samples per group. Data were statistically analyzed with one-way analysis of variance and Bonferroni correction.Results:On the 2nd day after isolation and cultivation, the primary cells were in short spindle shape or polygon, cells of the 4th passage were identified as HUVECs by immunofluorescence method. At 72 hours of culture after grouping, the cells from the 1st batch in the 6 groups changed to long spindle shape morphologically along with the increase of IL-6 concentration, the intercellular connections decreased or disappeared with the gap between cells becoming larger. At 72 h after grouping culture, compared with that inblank control group, the ratio of double positive cells in 25 ng/mL IL-6 group, 50 ng/mL IL-6 group, and 100 ng/mL IL-6 group were significantly increased ( P<0.01); compared with that in 5 ng/mL IL-6 group, the ratio of double positive cells in 25 ng/mL IL-6 group, 50 ng/mL IL-6 group, and 100 ng/mL IL-6 group were significantly increased ( P<0.01); compared with that in 10 ng/mL IL-6 group, the ratio of double positive cells in 50 ng/mL IL-6 group and 100 ng/mL IL-6 group were significantly increased ( P<0.01); the ratio of double positive cells in 100 ng/mL IL-6 group was significantly increased compared with those in 25 ng/mL IL-6 group and 50 ng/mL IL-6 group ( P<0.01). At 72 h after grouping culture, compared with that in blank control group, the mRNA expression levels of vascular endothelial cadherin of cells in 25 ng/mL IL-6 group, 50 ng/mL IL-6 group, and 100 ng/mL IL-6 group were significantly decreased ( P<0.01 or P<0.05); compared with that in 5 ng/mL IL-6 group, the mRNA expression levels of vascular endothelial cadherin of cells in 50 ng/mL IL-6 group and 100 ng/mL IL-6 group were significantly decreased ( P<0.01); compared with that in 10 ng/mL IL-6 group, the mRNA expression levels of vascular endothelial cadherin of cells in 50 ng/mL IL-6 group and 100 ng/mL IL-6 group were significantly decreased ( P<0.01); compared with that in 25 ng/mL IL-6 group, the mRNA expression levels of vascular endothelial cadherin of cells in 50 ng/mL IL-6 group and 100 ng/mL IL-6 group were significantly decreased ( P<0.01). At 72 h after grouping culture, compared with that in blank control group, the mRNA expression levels of α-SMA of cells in 5 ng/mL IL-6 group, 10 ng/mL IL-6 group, 25 ng/mL IL-6 group, 50 ng/mL IL-6, group, and 100 ng/mL IL-6 group were significantly increased ( P<0.05 or P<0.01). Cells from the 2nd batch were cultured for 72 hours after grouping. Compared with 1.391±0.026 in blank control group, the protein expressions of vascular endothelial cadherin of cells in 10 ng/mL IL-6 group (1.185±0.063), in 25 ng/mL IL-6 group (0.717±0.078), and in 50 ng/mL IL-6 group (0.239±0.064) were significantly decreased ( P<0.05); compared with that in 10 ng/mL IL-6 group, the protein expressions of vascular endothelial cadherin of cells in 25 ng/mL IL-6 group and 50 ng/mL IL-6 group were significantly decreased ( P<0.01); compared with that in 25 ng/mL IL-6 group, the protein expression of vascular endothelial cadherin of cells in 50 ng/mL IL-6 group was significantly decreased ( P<0.01). At 72 h after grouping culture, compared with that in blank control group, the protein expression levels of α-SMA of cells in 10 ng/mL IL-6 group, 25 ng/mL IL-6 group, and 50 ng/mL IL-6 group were significantly increased ( P<0.01); compared with that in 10 ng/mL IL-6 group, the protein expression levels of α-SMA of cells in 25 ng/mL IL-6 group and 50 ng/mL IL-6 group were significantly increased ( P<0.01). At 72 h after grouping culture, compared with that in blank control group, the protein expressions of type Ⅰ collagen of cells in 25 ng/mL IL-6 group and 50 ng/mL IL-6 group were significantly increased ( P<0.05). Conclusions:After IL-6 treatment, the phenotype and function of HUVECS showed the characteristics of mesenchymal cells in a concentration-dependent manner. The inflammatory factor can promote the process of EndMT, and become one of the important factors regulating the mechanism of tissue fibrosis.

Objective To explore the application of three-dimensional intelligent qualitative and quantitative analysis system (IQQA) in the planning,simulation and implementation of precise surgery for bilateral renal tumors.Methods A retrospective analysis a total of 7 patients with bilateral kidney tumors in our center from June 2017 to August 2018 was performed.There were 5 males and 2 females,with an average age of (54.6 ± 6.0) years,ranging 47.0-63.0 years.The average BMI index was (23.4 ± 2.4) kg/m2,ranging 21.2-28.0 kg/m2.The average diameter of 14 renal tumors in 7 patients was (3.8 ± 1.1) cm,ranging 1.9-5.3 cm.The average R.E.N.A.L score was 6.6 ± 1.2,ranging 5.0-9.0.The tumor stage was T1N0M0.The mean preoperative hemoglobin,albumin,creatinine and GFR were (138.6 ± 17.0)g/L and (47.3 ± 2.5 g/L),(51.6 ± 19.1) μmol/Land (56.9 ± 6.7) ml/min,respectively.Before operation,the original data of CT were input into IQQA system.Then we reconstructed kidney,blood vessel,collecting system and tumors using system.And the structure of kidney,tumors and vessels was visualized directly.The systematic analysis of the operation is carried out at terminals vary from various angles,and the surgical resection simulation.The position,angle and curvature of the cut surface are adjusted according to the effect.The plan of partial nephrectomy is designed.The resection area,remaining area of kidney is calculated.In this way,we can construct individualized and accurate laparoscopic partial nephrectomy planning before operation.Last,we carried out the operation according to the designed plan.The laparoscopic standard partial nephrectomy was performed in 11 cases.The laparoscopic selective partial nephrectomy was performed in 2 cases.One underwent laparoscopic partial nephrectomy without obstruction.We achieved precise resection of tumors and rapid suture of wounds according to the preoperative planning of excision and suture.We collected of the surgical success rate,conversion to opening rate,operation time,warm ischemia time,intraoperative bleeding volume,complications and hospitalization after operation.The related laboratory indicators such as eGFR and creatinine were followed up for 3 months,and the prognostic indicators such as renal CT and pulmonary CT for 6 months after operation were evaluated and analyzed.Result 14 renal tumors were successfully reconstructed by IQQA in 7 patients.The operations were completed successfully without conversion to open surgery or radical nephrectomy.The average operative duration was (68.9 ± 9.2) minutes,ranging 50.0-80.0 minutes.The average renal artery occlusion duration was (20.7 ± 4.1) minutes,ranging 15.0-29.0 minutes.The average intraoperative bleeding volume was (70.7 ± 29.7) ml,ranging 30.0-120.0 ml.The average indwelling time of drainage tube was (5.5 s0.7) days,ranging 5.0-7.0 days.The average hospitalization time was (6.3 ± 0.5) days,ranging 6.0-7.0 days.There were no perioperative complications such as bleeding,urinary leakage,infection,incision dehiscence and pulmonary infection.Postoperative pathology revealed 13 clear cell renal carcinoma and 1 renal angiomyoma.No recurrence or metastasis was found in chest CT and lung CT after 6 months follow-up.The creatinine and GFR in 3 months after operation were (52.0 ± 15.2) μmol/L(36.0-72.0 μmol/L) and (56.7 ± 5.3) ml/min(46.7-66.3 ml/min).There was no significant difference of creatinine and GFR with the preoperative (P ＞ 0.05).The mean Hb and albumin levels in 3 months after operation were (120.9 ± 17.0) g/L(90.0-147.0 g/L) and (41.4 ± 2.6) g/L (38.0-46.0 g/L),which were significantly lower than those before operation (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions The three-dimensional intelligent qualitative and quantitative analysis system (IQQA) can visualize the kidney,tumor and the vasculature of bilateral kidney tumors by preoperative three-dimensional reconstruction.The optimal surgical plan of partial nephrectomy can be designed by preoperative operation planning and computer terminal in order to enhance the safety of partial nephrectomy for bilateral kidney tumors and preserve the possibility of kidney,and protect the renal function to the greatest extent.To accurately predict the retention of renal function after operation,so that patients with bilateral renal tumors can get the greatest benefit in partial nephrectomy.

Objective To explore the efficacy and tolerance of adverse reactions of gene detection technique in guiding individualized targeted therapy for advanced metastatic renal cell carcinoma.Methods Retrospective analysis was performed on the clinical data of 62 patients with advanced metastatic renal cell carcinoma before and after receiving targeted drug treatment in our department from October 2015 to October 2017.Among the 62 patients,there were 36 males and 26 females,with an average age of (54 ± 13) years old.16 patients were treated with sunitinib,20 patients were treated with sorafenib and 26 patients were treated with pazopanib.A total of 28 patients (individualized group) were selected to receive targeted drug according to the results of gene detection,and 34 patients were treated with targeted drug empirically (empirical group).In individualized group,there were 17 males and 11 females with the average age of (51.3 ± 15.6) years old.20 patients accepted the operation.The distant metastasis included bone metastasis in 21 cases,lung metastasis in 7 cases,liver metastasis in 16 cases,epidermal metastasis in 4 cases and lymphatic metastasis in 14 cases.According to risk of MSKCC,the case number of low risk,moderate risk and high risk were 15,7,6,respectively.7 patients were treated with sunitinib,8 patients were treated with sorafenib and 13 patients were treated with pazopanib.In empirical group,there were 19 males and 15 females with the average age of (56.3 ± 10.1) years old.22 patients accepted the operation.The distant metastasis included bone metastasis in 20 cases,lung metastasis in 5 cases,liver metastasis in 13 cases,epidermal metastasis in 3 cases and lymphatic metastasis in 15 cases.According to risk of MSKCC,the case number of low risk,moderate risk and high risk were 20,g,6,respectively.9 patients were treated with sunitinib,12 patients were treated with sorafenib and 13 patients were treated with pazopanib.The baseline characteristics of the two groups of patients,including gender,age,whether operation was performed,site of metastasis,and risk of MSKCC,didn't show significant difference.Patients in both groups received the standard treatment regimen and the follow-up duration was 4-26 months to observe the efficacy,progression-free survival and tolerance to adverse reactions of the targeted therapy.Results After 12 months of treatment,15 patients in the individualized group was recorded objective remission.7 patients in the empirical group was recorded objective remission,as well.The tumor control efficacy of the individualized group was significantly better than that of the empirical group (46.4％ vs.20.6％,P =0.03).Meanwhile,the median progression-free survival time (15.2 months,3.7-24.2 months) in the individualized group was significantly longer than that in the empirical group (12.1 months,2.8-22.1 months) (P =0.009).Compared with the empirical group,the higher incidence of targeted treatment-related adverse reactions occurred in the individualized group,including thrombocytopenia (46.4％ vs.17.6％ P =0.014),leukopenia (46.4％ vs.17.6％ P =0.005),hypertension (71.4％ vs.44.1％,P =0.031) and hypothyroidism(60.7％ vs.29.4％,P=0.013).Conclusions Compared with the patients with empirical drugs,the application of gene detection technique to select individualized targeted drugs for the treatment of advanced metastatic renal cancer is obvious curatively effective,and to a certain extent extends the progression-free survival time of patients.

Objective: To introduce a self-developed bone dust collector designed by the authors and evaluate its efficiency in mastoid obliteration following mastoidectomy. Methods: Consecutive patients, from April 2017 to March 2018, who prepared to receive mastoidectomy were randomly divided into two groups, and in each group the bone dust was harvested by self-developed bone dust collector or by conventional used method respectively in mastoidectomy. The amount of the harvested bone dust and the time consumed in the collecting procedure were compared between two groups. The infection of the bone dust after mastoid obliteration was also evaluated during follow up. Results: 33 patients were recruited in bone dust collector group, and 31 patients in conventional method group.There is no significance of difference between two groups in sex ratio, age and pneumatization of mastoid cells (P>0.05 for all). The median amount of bone dust harvested by bone dust collector was significantly larger than that collected by conventional method (1.8 g vs 1.1 g, P<0.05). The median time spent in bone dust collector group was significantly shorter than that spent in conventional method group (4 minutes vs 6 minutes, P<0.05). No bone dust infection was found in the follow-up in all patients. Conclusion The present self-developed bone dust collector is a easy and useful apparatus which can significantly improve the efficiency of collecting bone dust in mastoidectomy.
