Objective To investigate the effect of continuous theta burst stimulation-intermittent theta burst stimulation(cTBS-iT-BS)priming protocols with different time intervals on the plasticity of primary motor cortex(M1).Methods A total of 39 healthy young adults were recruited from Changzhou De'an Hospital from March to August,2024.Participants received cTBS-iTBS priming protocols with intervals of 5 minutes,10 minutes and 15 minutes using a randomized crossover design.Motor-evoked potential(MEP)amplitudes in M1 were recorded at baseline(before intervention)and 0 minute,10 minutes,20 minutes and 30 minutes after intervention.Results The main effects of stimulation protocol(F=19.761,P<0.001)and measurement time(F=10.224,P<0.001)were significant.At each time point after intervention,the MEP amplitude was significantly higher under the 10-minute interval than under the 5-minute and 15-minute intervals(t>3.010,P<0.05).Conclusion The 10-minute interval of cTBS-iTBS is more effective on M1 plasticity.

Objective To explore the effect of seminar based on case-based learning(CBL)in practical teaching of physical therapy. Methods From July,2021 to June,2022,42 rehabilitation therapy students for internships in Rehabilitation Medicine Center,the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University were non-directionally recruited,and random-ly divided into control group(n = 21)and experimental group(n = 21).The experimental group received instruc-tion using seminar and CBL,while the control group received CBL alone,for three months.The scores of theoret-ical and practical assessments were observed,and the satisfaction was investigated using a self-designed question-naire. Results The scores of both theoretical and practical assessments were better in the experimental group than in the control group(t>2.421,P<0.05);while the satisfaction was better in terms of motivating learning enthusiasm,enhanc-ing learning abilities,cultivating clinical reasoning skills,improving teacher-student communication,promoting teamwork,enhancing overall competence,and satisfying to the teaching in the experimental group than in the control group(χ2>6.667,P<0.05). Conclusion The combination of seminar with CBL would enhance the effect of practical teaching in physical therapy.

OBJECTIVE To explore the protective effect of 2,3,5,4’-tetrahydroxy stilbene-2-Ο-β-D-glucosid(TSG) on hearing injury in acetaminophen(APAP) induced guinea pigs. METHODS The ear injury of guinea pigs was induced by APAP, after treatment with TSG, the auditory brainstem response(ABR) and distortion product otoacoustic emission(DPOAE) of guinea pigs were tested to judge the hearing loss, the injury of cochlear hair cells was observed by immunofluorescence, and the liver and kidney tissues of guinea pigs were observed by pathology to judge the toxicity of TSG to liver and kidney. The damage of HEI-OC1 auditory nerve cells induced by APAP was used as the study of ear injury cells. The cell survival and apoptosis were detected by MTT method, cell morphology observation, and flow cytometry, the expression of Birc5 gene was detected by fluorescence quantitative PCR. RESULTS Compared with the model group, on the 14th day, the ABR hearing threshold of guinea pigs decreased significantly, the difference was more significant when the DPOAE test frequency was 2 kHz(P<0.01). The acoustic startle reflex test showed that the amplitude of startle reflex decreased significantly at 100 dB(P<0.05). The gap-prepulse inhibition experiment showed that the amplitude of startle reflex decreased at 10, 40, 50 ms. The guinea pig cochlea was peeled off and the integrity of hair cells was observed after immunofluorescence staining. Compared with the model group, the outer hair cells in TSG group were arranged orderly without loss, and the inner hair cells were basically arranged orderly. Pathological observation showed that TSG had certain hepatotoxicity, but the nephrotoxicity was not obvious. The cell experiment found that the half inhibitory concentration of APAP on HEI-OC1 auditory nerve cells was 800 µmol·L-1. When 10 µmol·L-1 TSG intervened in APAP induced cell injury, the apoptosis rate decreased to 16.0%, which was significantly lower than 25.5% in model(APAP) group. In APAP group, the expression level of Birc5 in HEI-OC1 cells decreased significantly, and TSG treatment could significantly increase the expression level of Birc5. CONCLUSION TSG 15 mg·kg-1 can protect guinea pigs from hearing loss induce by 100 mg·kg-1APAP for 14 d. The protective effect is related to TSG inhibiting APAP induces auditory nerve cell apoptosis and promoting the expression of apoptosis inhibitor Birc5.

Objective: To analyze and evaluate the differences in sex hormones after laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery (LRYGB) and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) in male patients with obesity. Methods: This study was a retrospective cohort study. The inclusion criteria were (1) male patients with obesity who met the surgical indications of the "Chinese Guidelines for Surgical Treatment of Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes" (2019 Edition); (2) patients with a body mass index (BMI) of ≥27.5 kg/m2 and obesity-related metabolic diseases, or patients with severe obesity and a BMI of ≥35 kg/m2; and (3) sex hormone levels checked 1 year after surgery. The exclusion criteria included (1) patients with endocrine diseases (thyrotoxicosis, hyperprolactinemia) and hypothalamic-pituitary lesions and (2) those with severe major organ dysfunction who could not tolerate anesthesia or surgery. According to the above criteria, the clinical data of male patients with obesity admitted to the Gastrointestinal Surgery/Bariatric Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University from October 2017 to January 2020 were included. A total of 52 male patients with obesity were included in this study. The mean age, body weight, BMI, and total testosterone level were (29.3±10.2) years, (123.6±35.4) kg, (40.1±11.1) kg/m², and 7.6 (5.5, 9.1) nmol/L, respectively. Forty-five patients (86.5%) exhibited testosterone deficiency. Among all the patients, 29 underwent LSG (LSG group) and 23 underwent LRYGB surgery (LRYGB group). The main outcome measure was the change in sex hormone levels before and after bariatric surgery in all the patients. The secondary outcome measures were the comparison of changes in sex hormone levels before and after LSG and LRYGB. Results: Pearson correlation analysis showed that preoperative estradiol was positively correlated with waist circumference (R=0.299, P<0.05), hip circumference (R=0.326, P<0.05), and chest circumference (R=0.388, P<0.05). Testosterone was negatively correlated with BMI (R=-0.563, P<0.01), waist circumference (R=-0.521, P<0.01), hip circumference (R=-0.456, P<0.01), chest circumference (R=-0.600, P<0.01), and neck circumference (R=-0.547, P<0.01). One year following bariatric surgery, the serum testosterone (7.6 [5.5, 9.1] nmol/L vs. 13.6 [10.5, 15.4] nmol/L, Z=-5.910, P<0.001), follicle-stimulating hormone (4.7 [2.7, 5.3] IU/L vs. 6.5 [3.6, 7.8] IU/L, Z=-4.658, P<0.001), and progesterone (1.2 [0.4, 1.5] nmol/L vs. 1.9 [0.8, 1.3] nmol/L, Z=-2.542, P=0.011) levels were significantly higher in all the patients. Both estradiol (172.8 [115.6, 217.5] pmol/L vs. 138.3 [88.4, 168.1] pmol/L, Z=-2.828, P=0.005) and prolactin (11.4 [6.4, 14.6] mIU/L vs. 8.6 [4.8, 7.3] mIU/L, Z=-2.887, P=0.004) levels were decreased. In addition to prolactin levels in the LRYGB group, there were statistically significant differences in the levels of estradiol (P=0.030), follicle-stimulating hormone (P < 0.001), luteinizing hormone (P=0.033), progesterone (P=0.034), and testosterone (P<0.001) compared with their preoperative levels. In the LSG group, there were statistically significant differences in the levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (P=0.011), prolactin (P=0.023), and testosterone (P<0.001) compared with their preoperative levels. Conclusion: The degree of obesity in men was negatively correlated with testosterone levels. Both LRYGB and LSG can significantly improve sex hormone levels in male patients with obesity, and testosterone levels show a significant increase after surgery.

Objective To explore the epidemiological characteristics and influencing factors of fall of elderly aged ≥ 60 years in Guangzhou from 2014 to 2018 ，so as to provide evidence for effective prevention and control measures． Methods Data on fall of the elderly was collected from the first diagno- sis in injury surveillance hospitals in Guangzhou from 2014 to 2018，and distribution description and epi- demiological analysis were adopted． Ｒesults 9 503 cases of fall of the elderly were reported in 5 injury surveillance hospitals，accounting for 49．41% of injuries in the elderly，and had occupied the first place in the cause of injury in 5 consecutive years． The sex ratio of men to women was 1 ∶ 1．67． Most of the patients had a primary or junior school degree，high rate in October-December，mainly occurred at home when doing leisure activities or life activities． The fall mainly led to injuries of head or lower extremities， contributed to contusion /bruise or fracture． And most of them were mild and moderate injury． Logistic re- gression showed that female，old age，high educational level，December to February，at home，walking， leisure activities and life activities were risk factors for falling among the elderly in Guangzhou ( all P ＜ 0．001) ． Conclusions Fall is the primary cause of injuries to the elderly in Guangzhou，especially the elderly female population． The targeted prevention and intervention measures should be developed ac- cording to their distribution characteristics．

Objective: To explore the association between serum levels of osteopontin (OPN) and systolic pulmonary artery pressure (sPAP) in healthy men following acute high altitude exposure. Methods: According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, this observational study included 94 male subjects (aged from 18 to 30 years, dwelling in lowland<500 m) who ascended to Litang (4 100 m) from Chongqing (400 m) by bus with a stair-like journey within 7 days in June 2013. Data including basic information, OPN, superoxide dismutase (SOD), and malondialdehyde (MDA) and echocardiographic derived sPAP were collected within 48 hours before ascent and within 2-7 hours after arrival. Accordingly, subjects were divided into 3 groups based on the tertiles of sPAP after acute high altitude exposure: low sPAP group (26.8-32.3 mmHg (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa)) (n=31), middle sPAP group (32.4-37.4 mmHg) (n=32) and high sPAP group (37.5-55.6 mmHg) (n=31). Associations of serum OPN and SOD levels with sPAP were analysed by univariate and multivariate linear regression analysis. Results: After acute high altitude exposure, the levels of sPAP were significantly increased (P<0.001). There were no differences in age, height, weight, body mass index, percent of Han nationality and smoking among 3 subgroups. However, following acute high altitude exposure, the levels of heart rate, systolic and diastolic blood pressure elevated (all P<0.05), whereas the levels of oxygen saturation were reduced in the total subjects and all subgroups (all P<0.05). Moreover, systolic blood pressure of subjects in the high sPAP group was higher than that in low and middle sPAP groups (both P<0.05), and diastolic blood pressure of subjects in high sPAP group was higher than that in low sPAP group (P<0.05). The serum levels of OPN were increased in total cohort(27.9 (22.5,34.0) μg/L vs. 25.6 (18.4, 33.1) μg/L, P<0.05)， and high sPAP group (P<0.05), whereas no differences were found in serum SOD and MDA levels among groups. Furthermore, the serum level of OPN in high sPAP group was higher than that in low sPAP group at high altitude (P<0.05), and there was a trend for decline in SOD level with increasing sPAP (P>0.05). Results from univariable linear regression analysis showed that the serum levels of OPN (r=0.32, P=0.002) and SOD (r=-0.22，P=0.032) were linearly correlated with sPAP in total cohort after high altitude exposure. Multivariate regression analysis showed that the serum levels of OPN(β=0.310，P=0.002) and SOD (β=-0.199，P=0.043) were independently associated with the levels of sPAP at high altitude. Conclusion: After acute high altitude exposure, the serum level of OPN is positively associated with sPAP, suggesting that OPN may be a novel bio-marker for predicting the increase of pulmonary pressure in response to acute high altitude exposure.

Objective:To analyze the effects of BANCR on proliferation,apoptosis,invasion and angiogenesis in human hepatocarcinoma cell line HepG2.Methods:The expression of BANCR was detected by quantitative real-time reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR).BANCR siRNA and Scramble was respectively transfected into human hepatocarcinoma cell line HepG2.Cell proliferation was detected by CCK-8.Flow cytometry was performed to analyze the apoptosis.Transwell assay was used to test the invasion.Angiogenesis was analyse by tube formation assay.Western blot was executed to check the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA),caspase-3,matrix metalloprotein 9 (MMP-9),vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),acidic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF)and interferon-γ (IFN-γ).Results:The expression of BANCR in HepG2 was higher than L02 (P＜0.05).Compared with control group,the cell proliferation folds in BANCR siRNA was largely decreased.Besides,BANCR siRNA group had a higher apoptosis rate and less invasive cells (P＜0.05).Western blot showed that the expression level of caspase-3 and IFN-γwas obviously enhanced in BANCR siRNA group,and the expression of PCNA,MMP-9,Fn,Vimentin,VEGF and bFGF was distinctly surpressed in BANCR siRNA group compared to control group (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion:siRNA interference of BANCR promotes apoptosis and represses proliferation,invasion and angiogenesis in human hepatocarcinoma cell line HepG2.

Objective: To evaluate the safety, efficacy and tolerability of China-made sildenafil citrate (Jinge) in the treatment of ED. METHODS: We conducted a multi-center, randomized, double-blind and placebo-controlled clinical trial among 222 ED patients in five urological or andrological clinics of China. The patients were randomly assigned to receive sildenafil citrate (SC, n = 111) or placebo (n = 111) for 8 weeks. We obtained and analyzed the demographic and clinical characteristics of the patients, the scores of International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF), the success rate of sexual intercourse, and the incidence of adverse events. RESULTS: No statistically significant differences were found between the patients of the SC and those of the placebo group in the mean age (［47.2±11.32］ yr vs ［46.67±13.08］ yr, P>0.05), psychological etiology (27.93% vs 23.42%, P>0.05), organic etiology (21.62% vs 29.73%, P>0.05) or mixed etiology (50.45% vs 46.85%, P>0.05), nor in height, weight, nationality, or history of smoking, drinking or allergy. Compared with the placebo controls, the SC-treated patients showed significant increases in the excellence rate of effectiveness (29.91% vs 78.90%, P<0.01), success rate of sexual intercourse (29.16% vs 63.87%, P<0.01), and total effectiveness rate (34.58% vs 77.98%, P<0.01). The effectiveness rates on organic, psychogenic and mixed types ED were remarkably higher in the SC group (64.52%, 83.33%, and 82.14%) than in the placebo control (46.15%, 21.21%, and 25.00%) (P<0.01). Mild or temporary adverse events were observed in 32 cases in the SC group as compared with 13 in the placebo control. CONCLUSIONS China-made sildenafil citrate is an effective, safe and well-tolerated drug for ED of different etiologies in the Chinese population.

INTRODUCTIONColorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer in China. The incidence of CRC has been increasing in recent years. The aim of this study was to explore the incidence trends and the age distribution of CRC by subsite in Guangzhou between 2000 and 2011.

METHODSA total of 22,432 incident cases of CRC between 2000 and 2011 from Guangzhou Cancer Registry were identified. Crude incidence and age-standardized rates (ASRs), using the Segi's world standard population, were calculated for CRC and CRC subsites. The incidence trend was analyzed and the annual percentage change (APC) in incidence was calculated by using JoinPoint software.

RESULTSThe crude incidence increased significantly from 23.4/10(5) in 2000 to 37.4/10(5) in 2011 for males and from 20.9/10(5) to 30.5/10(5) for females. The ASRs of CRC incidence stabilized during the period of 2000-2011 for both males and females. The ages at the onset of CRC for both males and females during 2010-2011 were significantly higher compared with those during 2000-2002 (males: t = 1.95, P = 0.05; females: t = 6.03, P < 0.01). For males aged 50-64 years, the CRC incidence increased by 8.50% annually (P = 0.04) during 2000-2004 and by 1.68% annually (P = 0.03) during 2005-2011. For females aged 65 years and older, the CRC incidence increased by 5.77% annually (P = 0.03) during 2000-2004. There were no significant changes for the CRC incidences in males aged 49 and younger and 65 years and older and females aged 64 years and younger during 2000-2004, or for those in all females as well as males aged 49 years and younger and 65 years and older during 2005-2011. The percentage of colon cancer in all CRCs increased significantly for both males and females between the periods of 2000-2002 and 2010-2011. The ASRs of descending colon and sigmoid colon cancer incidences increased significantly for females during 2005-2011 (APC, 5.51% and 1.08%, respectively, both P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONSThe crude incidence of CRC increased significantly between 2000 and 2011 because of the aging, whereas the ASRs kept stable. The percentage of colon cancer in all CRCs increased significantly. Further surveillance, research, and intervention are needed to identify the causes of these changes and to reduce the incidence and mortality of CRC.
