Objective To investigate the relationship between biological aging and the rate of cognitive decline in middle-aged and elderly populations. Methods Longitudinal tracking data of cognitive function were obtained from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study(CHARLS).We employed the Klemera and Doubal method(KDM)to estimate biological age(BA),and calculate the biological aging index(BAI)and biological aging type(BAT).A multivariate linear regression model was employed to analyze the relationships between baseline BAI,BAT,and cognitive function scores.Based on the baseline analysis,a mixed-effects model was used to examine the longitudinal associations between baseline BAI,BAT,and cognitive function during follow-up.Results A total of 5 897 participants were included in the study.BAI was found to be negatively associated with baseline cognitive function scores, with the partial regression coefficient(β)(95%CI)being-0.185(—0.231,—0.139)(P<0.001).Compared with the lagged aging group, the premature aging group had lower cognitive function scores(β[95%CI]:—0.741[—0.966,—0.516]).For age and sex,for each additional year of baseline BAI,cognitive function scores declined by an average of 0.012(95%CI:—0.019,—0.005)points per year after adjusting for age and sex,and declined by 0.011(95%CI:—0.018,—0.004)points per year after adjusting for other covariates.Compared with participants with lagged aging, those with premature aging experienced,on average,an additional decline of 0.042(95%CI:—0.075,0.009)points per year in cognitive function scores after adjusting for age and sex alone, and by 0.039(95%CI:—0.072,—0.007)points per year after adjusting for other covariates. Conclusion Biological aging affects the rate of cognitive decline in middle-aged and elderly populations.A higher BAI is associated with a faster decline in cognitive function.Compared with those with lagged aging, individuals with premature aging exhibit a more rapid rate of cognitive decline.

Cancer patients generally suffer from depression, and long-term depression may exacerbate fatigue, sleep disor-ders,pain,and psychological distress, affecting the overall treatment effectiveness of cancer patients and ultimately impacting their quality of life and prognosis. Therefore, this article mainly reviews the research status and influencing factors of depression trajectories in cancer patients, providing reference for precise and personalized depression management for cancer patients.
3.Effect of Acupuncture at Points Taiyang and Fengchi on Heat Shock Protein 70 and Apoptosis during Cerebral Ischemia and Reperfusion in Rabbits
Shanghai Journal of Acupuncture and Moxibustion 2015;(11):1122-1125
Objective To investigate the effect of acupuncture at points Taiyang and Fengchi on the expression of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) and neural cell apoptosis during local cerebral ischemia and reperfusion in rabbits and explore its protective action on nerve cells and the mechanism. Methods Rabbits were randomized into sham operation, model and acupuncture groups. Each group was randomly allocated to three time points: one, three and seven days. A rabbit model of local cerebral ischemia and reperfusion was made by middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO)using an intraluminal thread. Reperfusion was performed at two hours after cerebral ischemia. In the acupuncture groups, points Taiyang and Fengchi were electro-acupunctured at six hours after cerebral ischemia. Treatment was given once daily. The rabbits were sacrificed to take materials at one, three and seven days after reperfusion. Pathological changes in brain tissue were observed by HE staining. Cerebral HSP70 expression was determined by immunohistochemical method. Neural cell apoptosis was examined by TdT-mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL).Results Pathological staining showed that cerebral infarction area decreased significantly, the number of nerve cells increased and inflammatory infiltration reduced at every time point in the acupuncture group of rabbits compared with the model group. The results of histochemical examination showed that HSP70 expression decreased in the sham operation group and increased in the model group. It increased significantly at every corresponding time point in the acupuncture group compared with the model group (P<0.01). The number of apoptotic cells increased gradually with reperfusion prolongation and reached the peak at three hours in the model group. The number of apoptotic cells decreased significantly at every time point in the acupuncture group and there was a statistically significant difference by comparison with the model group (P<0.01).Conclusions Electroacupuncture at points Taiyang and Fengchi can increase cerebral HSP70 expression and decrease neural cell apoptosis to produce a nerve-protecting effect in rabbits with cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury.
