Objective To investigate the correlation between different grade glioma and MRI image texture parameters and the guiding value of texture analysis for postoperative prognosis. Methods A total of 107 glioma patients were selected, and the texture parameters of MRI images were recorded. The correlation between the grade of glioma and the texture parameters of MRI images was analyzed. The risk factors affecting postoperative adverse effects of glioma patients were analyzed, and the diagnostic efficacy of each texture parameter in predicting glioma grade and postoperative good condition was evaluated. Results Comparison of MRI image tex-ture parameters between patients with low-grade glioma and patients with high-grade glioma showed no significant differences in kur-tosis,skewness,standard deviation, contrast and uniformity, but significant differences in correlation, entropy, consistency and gap distance.Correlation, entropy, consistency and gap distance were significantly correlated with glioma grade. The diagostic efficiency of entropy in predicting glioma grade was significantly higher than that of correlation, consistency and gap distance. The combination of the four predicted glioma patients with good postoperative diagnostic efficacy was the highest. Conclusion The correlation, entropy, consistency and gap distance of MRI image texture parameters can effectively diagnose the grade of glioma, and the combination of the four parameters is more beneficial to the postoperative evaluation of glioma patients.

Neuroscience Bulletin 2023;39(8):1246-1262
During natural viewing, we often recognize multiple objects, detect their motion, and select one object as the target to track. It remains to be determined how such behavior is guided by the integration of visual form and motion perception. To address this, we studied how monkeys made a choice to track moving targets with different forms by smooth pursuit eye movements in a two-target task. We found that pursuit responses were biased toward the motion direction of a target with a hole. By computing the relative weighting, we found that the target with a hole exhibited a larger weight for vector computation. The global hole feature dominated other form properties. This dominance failed to account for changes in pursuit responses to a target with different forms moving singly. These findings suggest that the integration of visual form and motion perception can reshape the competition in sensorimotor networks to guide behavioral selection.

OBJECTIVE:
To explore the effect of small interfering RNA (siRNA)-mediated CEP55 gene silencing on the proliferation of mouse spermatogonia.
METHODS:
Six patients with azoospermia diagnosed to have maturation arrest (3 cases) or normal spermatogenesis (3 cases) based on testicular biopsy between January 1 and December 31, 2017 in our center were examined for differential proteins in the testicular tissue using isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation (iTRAQ), and CEP55 was found to differentially expressed between the two groups of patients. We constructed a CEP55 siRNA for transfection in mouse spermatogonia and examined the inhibitory effects on CEP55 expressions using Western blotting and qPCR. The effect of CEP55 gene silencing on the proliferation of mouse spermatogonia was evaluated with CCK8 assay.
RESULTS:
In the testicular tissues from the 6 patients with azoospermia, iTRAQ combined with LC/MS/MS analysis identified over two hundred differentially expressed proteins, among which CEP55 showed the most significant differential expression between the patients with maturation arrest and those with normal spermatogenesis. The cell transfection experiment showed that compared with the cells transfected with the vehicle or the negative control sequence, the mouse spermatogonia transfected with CEP55 siRNA showed significantly lowered expressions of CEP55 mRNA and protein ( < 0.05) and significantly decreased proliferation rate as shown by CCK8 assay ( < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONS
CEP55 may play a key role in spermatogenesis and may serve as a potential therapeutic target for non-obstructive azoospermia with maturation arrest.

Objective To identify the correlation between doctors' job burnout and medical errors. Methods In stage 1,a cross-sectional retrospective survey on doctors' job burnout and medical errors was conducted for 300 doctors serving in the First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University, who were randomly sampled in June 2013.The survey covered basic demographic information,self-assessed job burnout and medical errors. In stage 2,231 doctors without medical errors in stage 1 were selected for a prospective study focusing on a follow-up on their medical errors within half a year. Results Medical errors were found to influence job burnout of doctors significantly.Multiple logistic regression analysis was made based on the three independent variables of A-emotional exhaustion,B-depersonalization,and C personal sense of accomplishment, and the dependent variables Y1 and Y2 indicating the occurrence or non-occurrence of common medical errors or serious medical errors, respectively. The calculation aims to identify if there is line relationship among the three independent variables. Conclusions This study suggests that all kinds of medical errors influence job burnout;scores of the three dimensions of job burnout may be predictors of occurrence of different medical errors.

Although phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (PDE5Is) are a revolution in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) and have been marketed since 1998, they cannot restore pathological changes in the penis. Low-energy shock wave therapy (LESWT) has been developed for treating ED, and clinical studies have shown that LESWT has the potential to affect PDE5I non-responders with ED with few adverse effects. Animal studies have shown that LESWT significantly improves penile hemodynamics and restores pathological changes in the penis of diabetic ED animal models. Although the mechanisms remain to be investigated, recent studies have reported that LESWT could partially restore corpus cavernosum fibromuscular pathological changes, endothelial dysfunction, and peripheral neuropathy. LESWT could be a novel modality for treating ED, and particularly PDE5I non-responders with organic ED, in the near future. However, further extensive evidence-based basic and clinical studies are needed. This review intends to summarize the scientific background underlying the effect of LESWT on ED.

China Oncology 2013;(6):425-431
Background and purpose: Sorafenib, a multiple targeted agent, can inhibit proliferation and induce apoptosis of diverse tumor cell in vitro. It has extensive biological activities, but the pancreatic cancer effect of monotherapy is poor. This may be related to nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) pathway activation in cancer. Therefore, it is necessary to combine with Pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate (PDTC, a NF-κB activation inhibitor) to enhance curative effect. To investigate the influences of cell proliferation, cell cycle and expression of NF-κB via their acting on human pancreatic cancer PANC-1, and explore their possible mechanism. Methods:The experiment groups were divided into sorafenib group with different concentrations (1.5, 3.0, 6.0, 12.0 μmol/L), PDTC group with different concentrations (10.0, 25.0, 50.0, 100.0 μmol/L) and combination group with low concentration (3.0 μmol/L sorafenib+25.0 μmol/L PDTC). The proliferative activity of PANC-1 of each group was measured by MTT assay at different time points of 24
10.The expression and clinical benefit of TGF*"β1 in the gestational trophoblastic disease
Journal of Xi'an Jiaotong University(Medical Sciences) 2001;22(2):143-144,156
To determine whether TGF*"β1 has any possible correlation with occurrence and development of gestational trophoblastic disease. Methods Immunohistologic staining for TGF*"β1 was performed on archival materials from 10 cases of first trimester villi, 40 hydatidiform mole, 10 invasive mole and 6 gestational choriocarcinoma. Results It was shown that the positive rate of TGF*"β1 was 100% in the first trimester villi, 95% in hydatidiform mole, 80% in invasive mole and 66.7% in gestational choriocarcinoma. In hydatidiform mole group, the staining intensity on TGF*"β1 wasn't associated with histologic grade (P>0.05). Conclusion As a negative regulator of cell proliferation, TGF*"β1 may play an important role in the inhibition of proliferation and invasion of trophoblastic cells and of GTD malignant transformation process. TGF*"β1 isn't associated with prognostic of hydatidiform mole.
