Objective To analyze the current status and influencing factors of occupational health literacy (OHL) among noise-exposed workers in the automotive manufacturing industry. Methods A total of 1 188 front-line workers in noise-exposed positions in the automotive manufacturing industry were selected by judgment sampling method. The OHL status of the workers was investigated using the Occupational Health Literacy Questionnaire of National Key Population, and the influencing factors of OHL were analyzed. Results The overall OHL level was 30.13% (358/1 188). The result of binary logistic regression analysis showed that marital status, educational level, personal monthly income, household registration, enterprise scale and weekly working hours were influencing factors of OHL level (all P<0.05). Specifically, being married, having a high school education or higher, monthly personal income >5 000 yuan, being from a non-agricultural household, working in a medium-sized enterprise, and working more than >40-48 hours per week were protective factors for high OHL levels (all P<0.05). Conclusion There is considerable room for improvement in the OHL of noise-exposed workers in the automotive manufacturing industry. Focus should be placed on workers who are unmarried, widowed, or divorced, have educational levels below high school, earn less than 5 000 yuan per month, have agricultural household registrations, work in small or micro-sized enterprises, or work ≤40 hours per week, with targeted strategies to improve their overall OHL level.

Objective To explore the association between long working hours, anxiety symptoms, and insomnia symptoms among footwear industry workers, and to examine the mediating effect of anxiety symptoms between long working hours and insomnia symptoms. Methods A total of 710 workers from 15 footwear manufacturing enterprises in Guangdong Province were selected as study subjects using a stratified random sampling method. Long working hours, anxiety symptoms, and insomnia symptoms among the workers were assessed using the National Key Population Occupational Health Literacy Monitoring Questionnaire, the Chinese version of the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Self-Rating Scale, and the Self-Rating Sleep Questionnaire. Binary logistic regression was applied to analyze the associations of long working hours and anxiety symptoms with insomnia symptoms, and a mediation effect model was used to examine the mediating role of anxiety symptoms. Results The workers with long working hours accounted for 69.6% of participants. The detection rates of anxiety symptoms and insomnia symptoms were 17.0% and 20.7% in these workers, respectively. Binary logistic regression analysis showed that both long working hours and anxiety symptoms were influencing factors for insomnia symptoms (both P<0.01). Mediation analysis indicated that long working hours had a direct effect on insomnia symptoms, accounting for 67.9% of the total effect. Anxietysymptoms played a partial mediating role between long working hours and insomnia symptoms, with an effect value of 0.18 (95% confidence interval 0.07-0.30, P<0.01), accounting for 32.1% of the total effect. Conclusion Both long working hours and anxiety symptoms are influencing factors for insomnia symptoms among the footwear industry workers, and anxiety symptoms partially mediate the impact of long working hours on insomnia symptoms.

Objective To analyze the current status of occupational health literacy (OHL) among front-line workers in the metal products industry and to explore its influencing factors. Methods A total of 5 193 front-line workers from the metal products industry in 14 prefecture-level cities in Guangdong Province were selected as the research subjects by the stratified cluster random sampling method. The Occupational Health Literacy Questionnaire of National Key Populations was used to assess their OHL levels. To analyze the influencing factors of OHL, binary logistic regression analysis was conducted. Results The overall OHL level among the participants was 40.0% (2 079/5 193). The result of binary logistic regression analysis showed that workers with lower educational level, lower average monthly personal income, and smaller enterprise size had lower OHL levels (all P<0.01). In addition, workers in foreign-funded enterprises had higher OHL levels than those in private enterprises (P<0.01). Conclusion There remains considerable room for improvement in OHL among front-line workers in the metal products industry. Priority focus is to improve OHL among workers with lower education and income levels, as well as those employed in private and micro- or small-sized enterprises.

Objective To investigate the prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) in passenger drivers and its influencing factors. Methods A total of 951 passenger drivers in Guangdong Province were selected as the research subjects using the judgmental sampling method. A Musculoskeletal Injury Questionnaire was employed to assess the prevalence of WMSDs in the past year. Results The prevalence of WMSDs in passenger drivers was 41.11%. The result of multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that married drivers had a higher risk of WMSDs than single drivers (P<0.05). The lower the frequency of physical exercise, the longer the driving time per week, the longer the continuous driving time, the more restricted the driving working space, the poorer the foot comfort during driving, and the more affected the normal meal, the higher the risk of WMSDs (all P<0.05). The risk of WMSDs in drivers with sleep time ≤ 8.0 h/d was higher than that in drivers with sleep time > 8.0 h/d (P<0.01), and the risk of WMSDs in drivers with the same posture for a long time on the shoulder was higher than that in drivers without this poor working posture (P<0.01). Conclusion WMSDs were prevalent among passenger drivers, which was associated with demographic and adverse ergonomic factors. Intervention on lifestyle and adverse ergonomic factors could further reduce the risk of WMSDs of passenger drivers.

Objective To analyze the occupational health literacy (OHL) level and its influencing factors of workers in non-metallic mineral product industry in Yunfu City. Methods A total of 947 frontline workers from 24 non-metallic mineral products enterprises in Yunfu City were selected as the research subjects using the stratified random sampling method. The OHL level of the workers were assessed using the Occupational Health Literacy Questionnaire of National Key Populations. Results The overall OHL level of the research subjects was 58.3% (552/947). The OHL levels across four dimensions, from highest to lowest, were basic knowledge of occupational health protection (94.7%), healthy work practices and behaviors (81.8%), legal knowledge of occupational health (65.5%), and basic skills of occupational health protection (25.9%). The results of binary logistic regression analysis showed that workers with 2.0-<10.0 years and ≥10 years of work experience had higher OHL levels than those with <2.0 years of work experience (all P<0.01). Workers with a high school education or above had higher OHL levels than those with a junior high school education or below (all P<0.01). Workers in large- and medium-sized enterprises had higher OHL levels than those in small and micro-sized enterprises (both P<0.01). Conclusion The OHL levels of workers in Yunfu City's non-metallic mineral products industry can be further improved, particularly the occupational health protection skills and related legal knowledge. Workers with short seniority, low educational level, and in small and micro enterprises should be the key groups for improving OHL levels.

Objective To analyze the factors influencing the occupational health literacy (OHL) level among workers in key industries from the perspectives of both individual workers and enterprises. Methods A total of 32 336 front-line workers from 12 key industries in the secondary industry in Guangdong Province were selected as the research subjects by a stratified cluster random sampling method. Their OHL level was investigated using Occupational Health Literacy Questionnaire of National Key Populations, and the influencing factors were analyzed. Results The OHL level of the research subjects was 48.5%. The OHL level of the research subjects in four dimensions from high to low was basic knowledge of occupational health protection, occupational health practice and behavior, legal knowledge of occupational health, and basic skills of occupational health protection (80.7%, 61.2%, 48.3% and 29.5%, respectively). The multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that the OHL level of female workers was lower than that of males (P<0.05). Lower OHL was also associated with older age, lower education level, lower personal monthly income of workers (all P<0.01). The workers with length of service < 3 years and ≥ 20 years had lower OHL level than those with length of service 3-<10 years and 10-<20 years, respectively (all P<0.05). Workers in larger enterprises had higher OHL levels (all P<0.01). The OHL level of workers in the sixth category of industries with occupational injuries had higher occupational injury risks than those in the third and fourth categories (all P<0.05). The OHL levels of workers in state-owned enterprises, private enterprises, foreign-funded enterprises, and other enterprises were higher than that of workers in public institutions (all P<0.05). Conclusion The influencing factors of workers′ OHL in key industries of the secondary industry include individual factors (gender, age, education level, personal monthly income, length of service) and enterprise factors (enterprise size, enterprise nature and industry injury risk category). Female, older workers, those with lower education or income, and those with short length of service represent priority groups for OHL interventions, while small and micro enterprises are priority units for future workplace health promotion intervention.

BACKGROUND: Disease-modifying therapies have been approved for the treatment of relapsing multiple sclerosis (RMS). The present study aims to examine the safety of teriflunomide in Chinese patients with RMS. METHODS: This non-randomized, multi-center, 24-week, prospective study enrolled RMS patients with variant (c.421C>A) or wild type ABCG2 who received once-daily oral teriflunomide 14 mg. The primary endpoint was the relationship between ABCG2 polymorphisms and teriflunomide exposure over 24 weeks. Safety was assessed over the 24-week treatment with teriflunomide. RESULTS: Eighty-two patients were assigned to variant ( n  = 42) and wild type groups ( n  = 40), respectively. Geometric mean and geometric standard deviation (SD) of pre-dose concentration (variant, 54.9 [38.0] μg/mL; wild type, 49.1 [32.0] μg/mL) and area under plasma concentration-time curve over a dosing interval (AUC tau ) (variant, 1731.3 [769.0] μg∙h/mL; wild type, 1564.5 [1053.0] μg∙h/mL) values at steady state were approximately similar between the two groups. Safety profile was similar and well tolerated across variant and wild type groups in terms of rates of treatment emergent adverse events (TEAE), treatment-related TEAE, grade ≥3 TEAE, and serious adverse events (AEs). No new specific safety concerns or deaths were reported in the study. CONCLUSION: ABCG2 polymorphisms did not affect the steady-state exposure of teriflunomide, suggesting a similar efficacy and safety profile between variant and wild type RMS patients. Objective:To investigate the efficacy and safety of intravesical injections of botulinum toxin A (BTX-A) for the treatment of pediatric refractory urinary frequency and incontinence (UFI), and to analyze the factors predicting the therapeutic effect of BTX-A injections.Methods:A retrospective case series study was made on 35 children with UFI [(12.3±4.2) years old], including 13 males (37.1%) and 22 females (62.9%), treated in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 2021 to March 2024.Urotherapy and drug treatments were ineffective in all children, who then received intravesical injections of BTX-A.The urodynamic study (UDS) was performed 1 week before treatment and 3 months after treatment, and the Overactive Bladder Symptom Score (OABSS) and Incontinence Quality of Life (I-QOL) were collected.Perioperative and postoperative adverse events were also recorded.A global response assessment (GRA) score of ≥2 at 3 months postoperatively was defined as effective treatment.According to the postoperative GRA score, the patients were divided into effective and ineffective groups to explore the predictive factors affecting the outcome of BTX-A treatment, such as age, gender, preoperative urodynamic parameters, and the types of urinary incontinence. t-test was used to compare quantitative data such as age, UDS parameters, OABSS, and I-QOL scores.The comparison of count data such as gender and urinary incontinence types was conducted using Fisher′s exact test. Results:The bladder compliance, bladder capacity ratio, OABSS and I-QOL scores of patients significantly improved after BTX-A injection (all P<0.05).The 77.1% (27/35) of the patients were satisfied with BTX-A treatment effects.The main adverse event during the follow-up was a temporary increase in postvoid residual urine after injecting BTX-A (7 cases), which was alleviated by the Creade action or clean intermittent catheterization.There was significant difference in age [(13.00±4.32) years vs.(10.00±2.67) years] and preoperative bladder compliance [(11.21±5.74) mL/cmH 2O vs.(5.13±2.42) mL/cmH 2O] between effective (27 cases) and ineffective groups (8 cases) ( t=2.383, 2.899, all P<0.05).The differences in preoperative bladder capacity ratio, maximum filling detrusor pressure, postvoid residual urine, voiding efficiency, gender, and the types of urinary incontinence were not statistically significant between the two groups (all P>0.05). Conclusions:Intravesical injection of BTX-A is a safe and effective treatment for children with refractory UFI.A young age and poor bladder compliance at treatment are associated with poor prognosis of BTX-A treatment.

Objective To analyze the effect of night-shift work, anxiety and their interaction on work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) among electronics manufacturing employees. Methods A total of 2 676 employees from 58 electronic manufacturing enterprises in the Pearl River Delta region of Guangdong Province were selected as the research subjects using the judgment sampling method. The Basic Situation Survey Scale, Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item Scale and Questionnaire of Musculoskeletal Disorders were used to assess night-shift work, anxiety and the prevalence of WMSDs in employees. The multivariate logistic regression model was used to analyze the effects of night-shift work, anxiety and their combined effects on the risk of WMSDs. Results The proportion of night-shift work was 30.3%, and the detection rates of anxiety and WMSDs were 26.8% and 41.3%, respectively. The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that night-shift work and anxiety were independent risk factors of WMSDs in the research subjects, after excluding the influence of confounding factors such as age, marital status, enterprise size and length of service [odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) were 1.307 (1.092-1.564) and 3.282 (2.739-3.934), respectively, both P<0.01]. Compared with those without night-shift work or anxiety, the risk of WMSDs was higher in individuals with only night-shift work, only anxiety, or both night-shift work and anxiety [OR and 95%CI were 1.347 (1.091-1.663), 3.395 (2.727-4.227) and 4.117 (3.072-5.519), respectively, all P<0.01]. Conclusion Both night-shift work and anxiety can increase the risk of WMSDs among electronic manufacturing employees, and these two factors exhibit a synergistic effect in increasing the risk of WMSDs.
