Tracheobronchial adenoid cystic carcinoma (TACC) is a low-grade malignant tumor originating from the airway mucosa. Despite its slow progression,it is characterized by high invasiveness, frequent recurrence, and a strong tendency for metastasis. Preclinical studies have shown that vascular-targeted therapy holds significant potential. However,an effective systemic treatment for TACC has not been established yet. This study explored TACC from the perspective of "Feiji" in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) as the starting point. It deeply investigated the mechanisms of abnormal collaterals and tumor vascular recruitment and further elaborated on the theoretical connection between abnormal collaterals and tumor vascular recruitment. Firstly, collateral hyperactivity led to disordered and erratic pulmonary collaterals. Their abnormal structures were similar to the disorderly and tortuous nature of tumor (pseudo)angiogenesis. This resulted in imbalances in the functions of circulation, perfusion, and reverse injection of the pulmonary collaterals, and then led to unrestrained collateral dysfunction and the accumulation of pathogenic factors. Secondly, the remodeling of the extracellular matrix (ECM) and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in TACC were critical processes in vascular co-option (VCO),representing the micro-level manifestation of the displacement of nutrient and defense. During this process,ECM remodeling made TACC cells more likely to hijack normal blood vessels, creating a complex vascular microenvironment conducive to tumor growth. In terms of treatment, this study proposed a TCM strategy of "regulating collaterals to expel pathogenic factors and nourishing collaterals to strengthen the healthy Qi",and listed potential TCM. These were intended to regulate the Qi and blood in the collaterals, repair the functions of abnormal collaterals, and intervene in the vascular recruitment process of TACC. Future research should focus on improving the TCM clinical syndrome characteristics of TACC. Through modern molecular biology techniques,it is necessary to deeply analyze the micro-level pattern of vascular recruitment in TACC. This would enrich the understanding of the profound connection between abnormal collaterals and tumor vascular recruitment, providing empirical evidence for TCM-targeted therapies for vascular recruitment in TACC.

Objective:To investigate the relationship between thoracic aortic calcification (TAC) and autonomic nervous system (ANS) function in patients receiving continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD).Methods:It was a cross-sectional study. The CAPD patients with dialysis duration >6 months between January and December 2022 were retrospectively enrolled. The baseline clinical data, heart rate variability (HRV) data such as standard deviation of all normal to normal intervals (SDNN), root mean square of successive differences between adjacent normal-to-normal intervals (RMSSD), high frequency (HF), very low frequency (VLF), low frequency (LF), LF/HF, acceleration capacity (AC) and deceleration capacity (DC), and skin sympathetic nerve activity (SKNA) were collected. TAC was defined as TAC score (TACS) >100 AU. The patients were divided into TACS >100 AU group and TACS≤100 AU group based on whether the thoracic aorta was calcified. The differences of those data between the two groups were compared. Logistic regression model was used to analyze the related factors of TAC. Spearman correlation analysis method was used to analyze the correlation between peripheral blood neuropeptide Y, ANS parameters, average amplitude SKNA (aSKNA) and TACS. Cox regression model was used to analyze the risk factors of all-cause mortality in patients with CAPD.Results:The study included 106 CAPD patients with 50 males (47.2%), age of (46.04±11.10) years and dialysis duration of (41.55±30.52) months. TACS>100 AU group exhibited significantly lower heart rate ( t=2.015, P=0.046), DC ( t=2.131, P=0.035), LF/HF ( Z=3.332, P<0.001) and ln(LF/HF) ( t=3.326, P=0.001), and higher AC ( t=-2.392, P=0.019) than TACS≤100 AU group. Multivariate logistic regression analysis results showed that after adjusting for age and eosinophil count, lnVLF ( OR=0.66, 95% CI 0.45-0.98, P=0.038), lnLF ( OR=0.69, 95% CI 0.49-0.97, P=0.032), DC ( OR=0.79, 95% CI 0.64-0.99, P=0.039) and AC ( OR=1.32, 95% CI 1.04-1.68, P=0.021) were independently correlated with the risk of TAC. Spearman correlation analysis showed that neuropeptide Y level in peripheral blood was correlated with aSKNA ( r=0.23, P=0.017), lnSDNN ( r=-0.20, P=0.036) and TACS ( r=0.19, P=0.048). During the follow-up period of (25.8±4.2) months, 5 patients (4.72%) died, including 1 patient in the TACS≤100 AU group and 4 patients in the TACS>100 AU group. Compared with the survival group, the death group had higher TACS ( Z=-2.262, P=0.024) and lower LF/HF ( Z=-2.750, P=0.006). Cox regression analysis results showed that increased ln(LF/HF) was an independent influencing factor for all-cause mortality in CAPD patients ( HR=0.22, 95% CI 0.05-0.83, P=0.026). Conclusions:HRV parameters (lnVLF, lnLF, AC and DC) of CAPD patients are independently associated with TAC. The dysfunction of ANS in CAPD patients (especially the decreased vagus nerve activity) may promote TAC.

This report described a case of neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenic purpura presenting with generalized petechiae. The infant was admitted at Nanfang Hospital, Southern Medical University on March 30, 2022, following detection of wide spread petechiae 30 minutes post-delivery. Blood tests revealed severe thrombocytopenia (platelet count 5×10 9/L) with leukopenia, decreased hemoglobin, and hepatomegaly, though coagulation function remained normal. Initial treatments—random donor platelet transfusion, and intravenous immunoglobulin—proved ineffective. Pretreatment blood samples showed strongly positive platelet antibodies (3+). Further typing confirmed human leukocyte antigen (HLA) antibodies in both infant and mother, establishing HLA-negative neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia. HLA-negative platelet transfusion resolved petechiae and normalized platelet counts, enabling discharge on postnatal day 14. Subdural hemorrhage was detected on MRI at day 29. Platelet levels remained normal at six-month follow-up, with age-appropriate development confirmed at 2.5 years.

Objective To compare the effect of transcranial direct current stimulation(tDCS),functional electrical stimulation(FES)of the forearm flexors, and their combined intervention on grip strength and cerebral cortical activation in healthy young adults. Methods From December,2024 to March,2025,twelve healthy right-handed young volunteers aged 20 to 23 years were recruited from the Fifth Hospital of Xiamen. They were randomly assigned to receive tDCS alone(tDCS group),FES alone(FES group),or simultaneous tDCS-FES(Sim group)in a crossover design. For tDCS,synchronous bihemispheric stimulation of the primary motor cortex(M1)was applied(anode on the left/cathode on the right).FES was delivered to the right flexor carpi radialis and flexor digitorum superficialis muscles.Isometric maximal grip strength was measured before and after each intervention, and functional near-infrared spectroscopy(fNIRS)was used to synchronously monitor oxyhemoglobin(HbO2)during grip strength tasks. Results A case dropped down. The effect of time on grip strength was significant(F=3.964,P=0.048);Post-hoc tests revealed that grip strength significantly increased after intervention in both FES group and Sim group(P<0.05).The effect of groups was significant on HbO2 of the left prefrontal cortex(PFC)and left premotor and supplemen-tary motor cortex(PMC)(F>3.613,P<0.05);Post-hoc tests revealed that the HbO2 of the left PFC and left pri-mary sensory cortex was higher in FES group than in Sim group, while the HbO2 of the left PMC and right PMC was higher in tDCS group than in Sim group(all P<0.05).Correlation analysis indicated that the grip strength was positively correlated with the HbO2 of the bilateral M1 only in Sim group(r>0.694,P<0.05).Conclusion For healthy young adults,tDCS alone mainly activates motor-related brain regions such as PFC and PMC,while FES alone directly enhances peripheral muscle force output and activates the left PFC to participate in mo-tor regulation. The combined intervention achieves the maximum gain in grip strength through a brain-limb inte-grated regulation mechanism, which may be associated with optimization of neural resource and M1 activity.
