Aim To establish a simple and practical method for visualizing neurovascular coupling in the mouse barrel cortex in vivo. Methods Male C57BL/6J mice received stereotaxic in-jections of pAAV-hSyn-jGCaMP7s-WPRE into the barrel cortex to monitor neuronal activity.Three weeks post-injection,a crani-al window was implanted, and TRITC-Dextran 155 ku was ad-ministered intravenously to visualize the vasculature and blood flow dynamics.A custom-built whisker stimulator was used to e-voke controlled neuronal excitation.Two-photon microscopy was employed to monitor neuronal and vascular responses to whisker stimulation in real-time.Results Neuronal calcium signals and plasma signals were clearly observed using two-photon microsco-py.Whisker stimulation led to a significant increase in neuronal calcium signals in the barrel cortex, indicating effective neuronal activation. This neuronal excitation was accompanied by a syn-chronous increase in blood vessel diameter, blood flow velocity and overall blood flow. Conclusions This study successfully establishes a three-dimensional visualization framework(spatial, temporal, and functional)for in vivo visualization of neurovascu-lar coupling in the mouse barrel cortex, which provides a useful tool for investigating the pathophysiological mechanisms of neuro-vascular dysfunction and evaluating the efficacy of potential ther-apies.

Mandibular reconstruction refers to the restoration of the continuity of the mandible through techniques such as autologous bone grafting, thereby restoring the patient's basic appearance, reconstructing the occlusal relationship, and restoring functions such as opening the mouth, chewing, and swallowing,in order to achieve a unity of oral and maxillofacial forms and functions.Due to the fact that mastication necessitates the coordinated efforts of the masticatory muscles, mandible, dental arch, and tongue, the recovery of masticatory function not only serves as a robust indicator for the success of surgery but also enhances the patients'quality of life, facilitating an early return to normal life.Currently, for the rehabilitation of oral function in patients after mandibular reconstruction surgery, standardized tools have been established in the fields of swallowing, occlusion, and speech assessment, and targeted training has been implemented, yielding significant therapeutic outcomes. However, research related to masticatory function faces two major challenges.First, existing assessment tools primarily focus on a single dimension, such as masticatory efficiency or subjective perception, and an integrated assessment system that encompasses multiple dimensions, including bite force distribution and oral sensory perception, has not yet been established.Second, although individual studies have explored factors affecting postoperative masticatory function,a systematic consensus has not been veached, leading to a lack of precision and individualization in clinical interventions, which significantly prolongs the patients'rehabilitation period. This paper reviews the scope and limitations of existing assessment tools for masticatory function in patients after mandibular reconstruction and systematically analyzes the key factors affecting postoperative masticatory function, aiming to promote a shift in clinical practice from"structural reconstruction"to a"function-perception collaborative rehabilitation"approach, and to provide a theoretical framework for constructing evidence-based,personalized masticatory rehabilitation programs.

Objective:To investigate the detection status of serological markers for hepatitis B virus (HBV) among Tibetan college students and their relationship with HBV- deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) load. Methods:A cross-sectional study was carried out to retrospectively analyze data from 1 514 Tibetan college students who visited the Affiliated Hospital of Xizang Minzu University for consultations or health examinations between June 1, 2021 and June 1, 2022. The prevalence of HBV infection among these students was analyzed, the primary epidemiological patterns of HBV markers were identified, and their relationship with HBV-DNA load was determined. Results:The positive rate of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) among the 1 514 Tibetan college students was 6.7% (101/1 514), while the positive rate for Hepatitis B surface antibody (HBsAb) was 42.2% (639/1 514). The primary serological pattern of HBV infection consisted of positive results for HBsAg, HBeAg, and HBcAb, which accounted for 48.5% of cases. This pattern showed significantly higher rates of HBV-DNA positivity and elevated viral load compared with other serological patterns ( χ2 = 8.70, P < 0.05). Conclusions:The HBV infection rate among Tibetan college students is 6.7%. The primary infection pattern is characterized by positive tests for HBsAg, HBeAg, and HBcAb, with an HBV-DNA positivity rate as high as 87.0% and elevated viral loads.

Objective:To analyze the risk factors of poor prognosis in older adult patients with acute respiratory failure (ARF) induced by septic shock. Methods:A retrospective analysis was performed on the clinical data of 146 patients with ARF induced by septic shock who received treatment at Lishui Central Hospital between January 2020 and December 2022. According to prognosis, these patients were divided into a good prognosis group and a poor prognosis group. The factors that affect the prognosis were analyzed by regression analysis. Results:Among the 146 patients, there were 102 cases (69.86%) with a good prognosis and 44 cases (30.14%) with a poor prognosis. The incidence of multidrug-resistant bacterial infections and the Murray lung injury score in the poor prognosis group were 54.54% (24/44) and (2.11 ± 1.02), respectively, both of which were significantly higher than those in the good prognosis group [23.53% (24/102), (3.29 ± 0.12), χ2 = 13.40, t = 7.63, both P < 0.001]. In the poor prognosis group, the usage rate of beta-blockers was 34.09% (15/44), while oxygenation index and serum levels of albumin and Ca 2+ were (211.32 ± 44.56) mmHg (1 mmHg = 0.133 kPa), (27.02 ± 5.21) g/L, and (2.19 ± 0.25) mmol/L, respectively. These values were significantly lower than those in the poor prognosis group [63.73% (65/102), (257.46 ± 49.65) mmHg, (30.57 ± 5.45) g/L, (2.52 ± 0.31) mmol/L, χ2 = 10.89, t = 5.54, 3.65, 6.23, all P < 0.001]. An increased Murray lung injury score, the presence of multidrug-resistant bacterial infections, and decreased serum levels of Ca 2+ and albumin were independent risk factors for poor prognosis in patients with ARF induced by septic shock ( OR = 1.958, 2.100, 2.147, 2.098, all P < 0.05). Conversely, the use of beta-blockers was identified as a protective factor for prognosis ( OR = 0.480, P = 0.025). Conclusions:Multidrug-resistant bacterial infections, low oxygenation index, and decreased serum levels of Ca 2+ and albumin are independent risk factors for poor prognosis in patients with ARF induced by septic shock. Conversely, the use of beta-blockers serves as a protective factor for prognosis.

Breast cancer remains a substantial threat to women's health and is one of the most prevalent malignant tumors in women.Because breast cancer onset is closely associated with female physiological characteristics, this article proposes that breast cancer be classified as a"women's miscellaneous diseases"and that its treatment be explored from this perspective.Drawing from Chapter 8 on Golden Chamber of Prescriptions for Miscellaneous Diseases in Women of Synopsis of Golden Chamber, the initial pathogenesis of breast cancer is associated with"emotional stress, improper lifestyle, deficiency, cold, and stagnation."The fundamental mechanism behind its formation is"blood cold accumulation and hardened masses."Specifically, emotional imbalance and improper lifestyle habits contribute to the combined invasion of the uterus by"deficiency,""accumulated cold,"and"stagnant qi."Over time,"cold-blood stasis accumulates at the uterine ostium,"and the cold and the stasis ascends from the uterus along the thoroughfare and conception vessels, obstructing the breast collaterals. This combination of yang qi stagnation and yin cold congealment, ultimately leads to the development of breast cancer. The treatment principle should focus on"activating yang and dispersing cold."A therapeutic approach centered on Wenjing Decoction combined with Xiaoyao Powder can be adapted based on the stage and type of breast cancer while also considering the dynamic interplay between pathogenic factors and healthy qi,along with shifts in deficiency and excess patterns of disease.By adhering to the principles of consistency and flexibility and integrating disease and syndrome differentiation, the goal is to develop precise and personalized treatment strategies to improve clinical outcomes.
