Assessing the Role of Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation in Enhancing Treatment Compliance Among Adult Pulmonary Tuberculosis Patients in Central Jakarta Community Health Centers
Introduction
Pulmonary Tuberculosis is a significant health concern in Indonesia, ranking second worldwide in terms of the number of cases. The treatment success rate for pulmonary TB remains below the national target, largely due to patients’low motivation to complete their treatment. This study analyzed how intrinsic motivation based on Health Belief Model and extrinsic motivation influence treatment completion among adult tuberculosis patients in Central Jakarta.
Methods
This observational analytic study employed a cross-sectional design, involving 105 patients aged 20-60 who were receiving treatment at three health centers Johar Baru, Gambir, and Tanah Abang. Data were gathered using closed-ended questionnaires and analyzed through Chi-Square tests and binary logistic regression.
Results
A total of 403 studies were identified, of which 24 met the inclusion criteria. The results showed that self-efficacy (p < 0.05), family support (p < 0.05), and perceived benefits (p < 0.05) were significant predictors of treatment adherence, playing critical role in enhancing patients’ readiness to complete therapy.
Conclusions
Willingness to undergo tuberculosis treatment is affected by self-efficacy and family support.

Influencing Factors of Adult Pulmonary Tuberculosis Patients's Clinical Improvement at the End of Intensive Phase at Public Health Care in Central Jakarta, Indonesia
ntroductionClinical improvement at the end of the intensive phase is one of the indicators of the Directly Observed Therapy Shortcourse (DOTS) program used to evaluate the success of tuberculosis (TB) therapy. This study aimed to identify factors influencing clinicalimprovement among adult pulmonary TB patients at the end of intensive phase in public health centers in Central Jakarta.MethodsThis was an observational analytic study employing a case–control design with a convenience sampling method. The study population comprised 281 adult pulmonary TB patients who had completed the intensive phase of treatment at three health centers in Central Jakarta: Johar Baru, Tanah Abang, and Gambir. Data were obtained from medical records in the Sistem Informasi Tuberkulosis (SITB) database for the treatment period from July 2023 to June 2024. Bivariate analysis using the chi-square test was conducted todetermine the association between variables.ResultsBivariate analysis revealed that age, comorbidities, and initial nutritional status were significantly associated with clinical improvement among pulmonary TB patients.ConclusionsClinical improvement among adult pulmonary TB patients at public health centers in Central Jakarta is influenced by several factors, particularly age, comorbidities, and initial nutritional status.

Introduction:
A healthy home is a physical building that meets health criteria. The surrounding environment benefits physical and mental health and provides an appropriate social environment for family and individual health. Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is one of the effects of diseases caused by houses that do not meet healthy housing standards. ARI incidence was ranked 5th in Banten Province, with a prevalence of 17.7%. This study aims to determine whether healthy home indicators affect the incidence of ARI in assisted families in Tangerang Regency, Banten Province.
Material and Methods:
This analytic study with a cross-sectional approach was conducted on 115 Kresek Village and Kemiri Village residents, who were taken using a purposive sampling technique. Methods of data analysis using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analysis using software IBM-SPSS version 29.0 and Microsoft Excel.
Results:
ARI was found in 50.4% of people in the past three months. There was a significant effect (P<0.05) between the incidence of ARI and indicators of a healthy home, specifically the area of ventilation in the house (P=0.002, OR:3.5, 95% CI 2.1 - 28.4) and opening the windows in the family room (P=0.030, OR:3.5, 95% CI 1.3 - 10.78).
Conclusion
The indicator that most dominantly influenced the incidence of ARI in this study was the ventilation indicator. Thus, a strategy is needed to increase the use of ventilation by the people of Tangerang Regency.
