Objective:To put forward the assessment and qualification suggestions for the military flying personnel with laser corneal refractive surgery by analyzing the cases of active military flying personnel in China and reviewing the progress of refractive surgery abroad.Method:Twelve cases of laser corneal refractive surgery, including photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and laser subepithelial keratomileusis (LASEK) of the flying personnel treated in Air Force Medical Center, PLA from January of 2012 to December of 2021, were analyzed retrospectively, and the relevant literatures were reviewed.Results:Five cases recovered to 1.0 or better distance visual acuity by 7 d, another 3 by 1 month. Till to 2 months all 12 cases recovered to that level. The visual acuity was stable 2-3 months after operation, and the refraction tended to be stable 1 month after operation. All 12 flying personnel returned to flight duty successfully 2-6 months after operation.Conclusions:It is recommended to use surface laser corneal refractive surgery (PRK and LASEK) to correct myopia for military flying personnel and the optimum re-flight time is 2-3 months after operation in case of passing the regular aviation medical evaluation.

Objective This study was to study the effect of monovision contact lens (MV-CL) on distant and near vision,distant and near stereopsis,and to identify the effect of degree of monovision on vision function.Methods A prospective case observational study was designed.The clinical data of sixty-eight eyes of 47 cases were collected from November 2010 to August 2014 in Henan Provincial Corps Hospital,Chinese People's Armed Police Forces.Sixty-eight eyes of 47 cases wore contact lenses to improve near vision,in which the other eye of 21 cases with hyperopia wearing contact lenses to improve distant vision.Besides,far and near stereopsis were measured before and two weeks after wearing lenses respectively;and scotopia were measrued with lenses and in naked eyes respectively.Compared the changes of vision and stereopsis in patients before and after the MV-CL,and conducted the patient satisfaction survey.Results There were 89％ (42/47 cases) and 6％ (3/47 cases) of the patients whose naked far and near vision was 0.8/0.33 (J4) at 2 weeks after MV-CL and before MV-CL,respectively.There were no statistical significance about change of near stereopsis with Titmus stereopicture and the Yan's near random-dot stereogram (x2=1.30,0.56;both at P＞0.05).There were no statistical significance about change with apparent machine random dot stereogram iterative crossed parallax and uncrossed disparity (x2 =0.16,0.11;both at P＞0.05).The far distance fusion range and far stereopsis were not significantly different between before and after MV-CL (x2 =0.22,0.16;both at P＞0.05).Titmus stereopicture tests showed that there was a decrease in the number of people who had foveal stereopsis,while an increase was found in people who had macular stereopsis after MV-CL,but the difference had no statistical significance (x2 =2.28,P ＞ 0.05).Conclusions Near vision can be obviously increased and presbytism can be relieved by MV-CL.Stereopsis of some patients are decreased after MV-CL,but this can be accepted by the patients and there is no obvious decrease in far range of fusion.

Objective To observe the relationship between pilots' physiological data of anterior eye segments and flying time in order to provide a reference basis for better ophthalmological health care.Methods The ophthalmological data of the fighter pilots who were in the physical examination for transformation in General Hospital of Air Force or in annual examination but hospitalized due to non-ophthalmological reasons.Pilots were divided into ＜30 yr group (n=132) and ≥ 30 yr group (n=28).They were also divided into ＜1 000 h group (n=137) and ＞1 000 h group (n=23).Statistical analysis was done with SPSS 19.0 software.Results Pilots of different age groups had no statistic differences in visual acuity,axial length and mean corneal curvature (P＞0.05).The ratio of astigmatism with the rule and astigmatism against the rule between age groups also showed insignificant difference (x2 =0.013,P＞0.05).Pilots in ＜30 yr group had bigger spherical equivalent degree (t'=2.074,P＜0.05).The visual acuity,spherical equivalent degree,type of astigmatism,axial length,anterior chamber depth and mean corneal curvature were found no statistical difference between two age groups.No correlation existed between axial length in anterior chamber depth for the pilot in same group.A weak positive relationship was observed between visual acuity and spherical equivalent degree of the pilots in ＜30 yr group (r=0.287,P＜0.01) but in ≥ 30 yr group (P＞0.05).Axial length negatively correlated to mean corneal curvature in all pilots (r=-0.813).Conclusions Pilots' physiological data of anterior eye segments are mainly correlated with age but with flying time.

Objective To evaluate the medical indexes for student pilots from different areas , to discover the major different indexes between different areas ,and to establish the space distribution model of military pilots .Methods A cross-section survey was conducted among student pilots , and 290 student pilots sampled as respondents were interviewed with questionnaires and subjected to a physical examination , involving distant vision , heart function , and pulmonary function , before a database was established , cleaned and analyzed by EpiData 3.02, SAS 9.13 with double checking .Results There was no difference between the medical indexes of student pilots from 7 areas, but the psychological selection performance record and the entrance examination record were different .Student pilots from area E had the highest psychological selection performance record while those from area D had the highest entrance examination record .Conclusion Student pilots have area difference ,so we should pay close attention to their birth place during recruitment of student pilots .

Objective:To study the clinic epidemic of Budd Chiari Syndrome in Shandong Province,so as to research the causes and pathogenesis.Material and Methods:To collect the credible clinic data of 1592 patients in Shandong Province from 1997 to 2006.According to the pathologic location,patients were divided into four types—hepatic small vein(HSV),hepatic main vein( HMV),inferior vena cava(IVC) and HMV combined with IVC(CHI).And the age,sex,medical record and clinical feature were descripted.Results:The cases increased in the last decade years,especially in adults .The incidences in male and female were equal.The cases of the IVC type were the most(57.2%,911/1592),then CHI type(28.5%,454/1592),HMV type(13.4 %,214/1592) and HSV type(0.8%,13/1592).The course of the HSV type was acute .In HMV type,most of the course was chronic,and IVC type and CHI type were chronic.The HSV type had clear cause,and 19.6% of the HMV type were related with coagulation abnormalities.Causes of IVC type and CHI type were not clear.Conclusion:In Shandong Province,the main types are IVC type and CHI type,with special clinic character and unknown causes.

Objectives To investigate the effects of electric field on the healing of lens epithelial cell wounds. Design Experimental study. Participants The cultured bovine lens epithelial cells and monolayers. Methods Small circle wounds were made by stabbing the cultured bovine lens epithelial monolayers with a glass needle and exposed to an applied electric field at a physiological strength of 200 mV/mm for 2 hours (n=37), and the wounds with no electric field exposure were used as control (n=29). With an image analyzer (Leica), the wound areas at 0, 1 and 2 hours after wounding were measured. Wounds were stained with F-actin fluorescence antibodies to observe the arrangement of microfilament cytoskeleton. Main Outcome Measures The wound areas and the arrangement of microfilament cytoskeleton of wounds. Results Compared to control wounds, the healing of wounds exposed to electric field was reduced, the mean area of field-exposed wounds at 2 hours after wounding (19106?m2?2167?m2) was significantly more than that of control wounds (8555?m2?1911?m2) (t=2.942, P=0.0045). The arrangement of microfilament cytoskeleton in control wounds was centripetally and a purse string-like arrangement of microfilament cytoskeleton was showed in field-exposed wounds. Conclusion Applied electric field at a physiological strength inhibits the healing of lens epithelial wounds.
