Through an analysis of the pathogenesis of cholinergic urticaria and the therapeutic principle of "treating fire constraint by dispersing it", it is proposed that the disease is located between the sweat pore and interstitial space. The key pathogenesis lies in fire constraint in the interstitial space and stagnation of the sweat pore. The manifestation is rash due to fire-heat constrained in the interstitial space, while the root is the obstruction of qi and fluids in the sweat pore, and the transformation involves constraint fire damaging yin and entering the collaterals. Treatment should consistently follow the principle of "diffusing constraint and dissipating fire", with staged approaches based on disease progression. In the acute stage, treatment emphasizes activating sweat pore and rapidly dispersing constraint fire through modified Shengjiang Powder (升降散). In the remission stage, therapy should focus on harmonizing ying-wei (营卫) and clearing residual fire using modified Zhuye Shigao Decoction (竹叶石膏汤) combined with Xiaofeng Powder (消风散). In the chronic stage, treatment should nourish yin, penetrate collaterals and clear latent fire through modified Qinghao Biejia Decoction (青蒿鳖甲汤).

Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2026;67(19):2130-2134
Based on the theories of the generation and restriction relationships among the five elements and visceral manifestation theory, this paper explores the pathological evolution of the relationship between lung (metal) and liver (wood), in which their physiological state of "restriction without harm" to pathological mutual contention and damage, referred to as "struggle between metal and wood". It is proposed that the core pathogenesis of neurodermatitis lies in the dynamic transformation of metal-wood interaction from mutual coordination to mutual struggle, eventually resulting in reciprocal damage. This pathological evolution accounts for the coexistence of pruritus and lichenification, as well as the chronic and refractory nature of the disease. Treatment should be guided by the principle of regulating and harmonizing between metal and wood. Wood is treated by softening to restore its free coursing, using modified Xiaoyao Powder (逍遥散). Metal is treated by dispersing, descending, moistening, and nourishing to restore its characteristics of clarity, purification, and moistness, using modified Xiebai Powder (泻白散) supplemented with leaf-type herbs and other moistening agents to relieve dryness. When metal becomes depleted and wood withers, accompanied by blood deficiency with wind-dryness, treatment should emphasize the mutual generation between metal and water, and the nourishment of water to moisten wood, using self-formulated Wuzi Chengji Decoction (五子承济汤), so as to reestablish the generation and restriction relationship.

Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2026;67(20):2240-2244
Based on the theory that "where yin accumulates, latent yang must exist", the pathogenesis of burning mouth syndrome evolves from deficiency of healthy qi, to accumulation of yin, latent yang, and upward scorching of heat-toxin. The fundamental cause lies in the imbalance between yin and yang and the internal generation of yin pathogens. The retention and accumulation of turbid yin, which gradually transforms into fire, is considered the key pathogenic process, ultimately leading to the formation of latent fire that generates toxins and scorches the mouth and tongue, causing pain. Treatment follows the basic principles of "resolving accumulated yin, dispersing latent yang, and clearing heat-toxins", with management tailored according to disease stages and syndrome characteristics. In the early stage, when yin stagnation needs to be resolved and latent fire mildly alleviated, Mahuang Fuzi Xixin Decoction (麻黄附子细辛汤) combined with Gancao Xiexin Decoction (甘草泻心汤) is used with modifications. In the middle stage, yang is activated while yin is regulated to clear and reduce latent fire, Wumei Pill (乌梅丸) combined with Fengsui Elixir (封髓丹) with modifications is employed. In the late stage, yang is warmed to attack yin and pathogens are eliminated to remove toxins, Dahuang Fuzi Decoction (大黄附子汤) combined with Shengma Biejia Decoction (升麻鳖甲汤) is used.

Phosphorylation is a common post-translational modification of specific protein 1(SP1),which can affect its transcriptional activity and DNA-binding stability by altering the structure of SP1.Phosphorylation of SP1 can promote telomere maintenance, immune escape, and production of vascular endothelial growth factor in cancer cells, promote tumor invasion and metastasis, and increase drug resistance to chemotherapy.

Journal of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University 2024;48(8):935-941
[Objective]To explore the etiology, pathogenesis and treatment methods of ulcerative colitis(UC),in order to provide theoretical basis for expanding the differentiation and treatment of UC.[Methods]Based on a review of the theoretical connotation of"spleen acting as the guard for five Zang-organs and six Fu-organs",and the understanding of the pathogenesis of UC in modern medicine, the correlation between spleen dysfunction and UC was explored from the perspective of"spleen losing of guard".Combined with the changes in the pathogenesis of UC during its progression, the principles of differentiation and treatment in each substage were specifically discussed.[Results]The key pathogenesis of UC is"spleen losing of guard",which runs through all stages of the disease. Therefore,it is proposed to use"assisting spleen to restore the function of guard"as the treatment principle. In the active phase, the method of treatment is to eliminate accumulation and transform stagnation, regulate the spleen and defensive Qi.In the remission phase, the method of treatment is to regulate Qi and relieve depression, and strengthen the spleen and promote defensive Qi.In the recovery phase, the method of treatment is to nourish the muscles, and strengthen the spleen and defensive Qi.[Conclusion]The application of the theory of"spleen acting as the guard for five Zang-organs and six Fu-organs"helps to understand the close relationship between the pathogenesis of UC and the spleen, refine the treatment rules and specific prescriptions of UC related to the spleen in each stage.

Journal of Breast Cancer 2019;22(3):375-386
PURPOSE: Although the effect of lysosome-associated protein transmembrane 4 beta (LAPTM4B) on the proliferation, migration, and invasion of breast cancer (BC) cells has already been studied, its specific role in BC progression is still elusive. Here, we evaluated the effect of different levels of LAPTM4B expression on the proliferation, invasion, adhesion, and tumor formation abilities of BC cells in vitro, as well as on breast tumor progression in vivo. METHODS: We investigated the influence of LAPTM4B expression on MCF-7 cell proliferation, invasion, adhesion, and tube formation abilities in vitro through its overexpression or knockdown and on breast tumor progression in vivo. RESULTS: Cell growth curves and colony formation assays showed that LAPTM4B promoted the proliferation of breast tumor cells. Cell cycle analysis results revealed that LAPTM4B promoted the entry of cells from the G1 into the S phase. Transwell invasion and cell extracellular matrix adhesion assays showed that LAPTM4B overexpression increased the invasion and adhesion capabilities of MCF-7 cells. More branches were observed in MCF-7 cells overexpressing LAPTM4B under an electron microscope. In comparison with LAPTM4B overexpression, LAPTM4B knockdown decreased the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor-A and significantly inhibited the vasculogenic tube formation ability of tumors. These results were also verified with western blot analysis. CONCLUSION: LAPTM4B promoted the proliferation of MCF-7 cells through the downregulation of p21 (WAF1/CIP1) and caspase-3, and induced cell invasion, adhesion, and angiogenesis through the upregulation of hypoxia-inducible factor 1 alpha, matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP2), and MMP9 expression. This specific role deems LAPTM4B as a potential therapeutic target for BC treatment.
