1.Systematic review and Meta analysis of the effect of sleep on subsequent day physical activity among children and adolescents
Chinese Journal of School Health 2025;46(12):1781-1786
Objective:
To explore the effects of sleep on subsequent day physical activity (PA) in children and adolescents, so as to provide a reference for refining PA intervention strategies and further investigating their underlying mechanisms.
Methods:
Through searching databases including Web of Science Core Collection, PubMed, EBSCOhost, ScienceDirect, Cochrane Library, CNKI, Wanfang and VIP cross sectional, cohort and experimental studies on sleep and subsequent day PA among children and adolescents were identified, with the searching period spanning from database inception to June, 2025. Based on the characteristics of the included literature, two sleep variables[sleep duration (SD) and sleep efficiency (SE)] and three physical activity variables[moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA), light physical activity (LPA), and total physical activity (TPA)] were selected. The relationship between these two types of variables was analyzed for pooled effect sizes using Stata 17.0.
Results:
A total of 14 studies were included, with 64.3% published in 2018 or later, involving 11 361 children and adolescents from 17 countries. Meta analysis results showed that both SD ( ES=0.04, 95%CI =0.01-0.07) and SE ( ES=0.24, 95%CI =0.01-0.47) were positively correlated with subsequent day MVPA (both P <0.05). However, no statistically significant associations were found with LPA ( ES=-0.04, 95%CI =-0.13 to 0.06; ES=-0.02, 95%CI =-0.15 to 0.11) or TPA( ES=0.09, 95%CI =-0.02 to 0.20; ES=0.02, 95%CI = -0.03 to 0.06)(all P >0.05). Subgroup analysis revealed that in the "≤6 years" subgroup, SD and SE were positively correlated with TPA ( ES=0.22, 95%CI =0.09-0.35) and MVPA ( ES=1.19, 95%CI =1.06-1.32), respectively; in the "6-12 years" subgroup, SD was positively correlated with MVPA ( ES=0.05, 95%CI =0.02-0.08); in the "≥12 years" subgroup, SE was positively correlated with LPA ( ES=0.08, 95%CI =0.00-0.16), while SD was negatively correlated with LPA ( ES=-0.23, 95%CI = -0.31 to -0.16) (all P <0.05).
Conclusion
Adequate SD and good SE can effectively enhance subsequent day MVPA among children and adolescents, although these sleep effects vary by age group.

Objective:To investigate the clinical effect of hearing aid combined with cognitive rehabilitation training in the treatment of dementia with hearing loss.Methods:Forty-six cases of dementia patients with hearing loss in Dalian Municipal Central Hospital Affiliated of Dalian Medical University from September 2019 to September 2020 were divided into two groups by random number table method. The treatment group received cognitive rehabilitation training assisted by sound amplifier, while the control group only received cognitive rehabilitation training for 7 weeks. Before and after treatment, questionnaires were used to evaluate the training effect of patients, including MMSE, HAMA, HAMD and ADL, and satisfaction questionnaire was used to evaluate the satisfaction of caregivers. Results:After treatment, the MMSE score of the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group: (20.22 ± 3.38) scores vs. (19.89 ± 3.10) scores ( P<0.05), and HAMA and HAMD were significantly lower than those of the control group: (11.43 ± 5.07) scores vs. (11.83 ± 4.79) scores, (8.39±3.37) scores vs. (9.67 ± 5.34) scores ( P<0.05); there was no difference in activities of daily living between the treatment group and the control group ( P>0.05); the caregiver satisfaction of the treatment group was significantly improved, compared with that of the control group ( P<0.05). Conclusions:Hearing assisted cognitive training can improve the cognitive function of patients with hearing-impaired dementia, promote mental and emotional stability, and improve the feelings of caregivers; we emphasize the importance of hearing evaluation for the elderly with dementia, and the importance of cognitive rehabilitation training with hearing assistance.

Optically pure α-substituted propanoic acids and their derivatives represent as an important kind of organic building blocks and key intermediates, which has been widely used in the synthesis of chiral drugs. Some of them have been used directly as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs),such as ibuprofen, naproxen, ketoprofen and so on.Dihydroartemisinic acid (DHAA),the same structure as the α-substituted propanic acids,is a key intermediate for the synthesis of artemisinin, the most effective and current used anti-malarial drug. Therefore, the asymmetric synthesis of α-substituted propanoic acids is always a hot topic for chemical scientists.Asymmetric catalytic hydrogenation attracts more and more attentions because of its atom economy and efficiency. This dissertation will disclose the asymmetric synthesis of α-substituted propanoic acids using transition metal-complex as a chiral catalyst.

Microbiology 2008;0(09):-
Bacillus megaterium strains are commonly used in microbial fertilizer(MF) . MF products are often contaminated by other B. cereus group members, which have similar phenotype such as Bacillus cereus,B. thuringiensis,B. mycoide. For quality control and safety of MF,a rapid and accurate method is needed to distinguish the strains of Bacillus megaterium from B. cereus group. Based on specific nucleotide sequences of the spoOA genes,2 pairs of species-specific primers were designed and a multiplex-PCR(mPCR) was developed for this purpose. When the optimized mPCR was used to detect the DNAs of 24 reference strains from three genera of Bacillus,Paenibacillus, and Brevibacillus, all B. megaterium strains showed singlefragment of 443 bp and Bacillus cereus group showed a fragment of 411 bp. However,no any amplified product was from the other bacteria. The sensitivity of mPCR was 105 CFU/mL. The mPCR results of 10 isolates of B. megaterium/B. cereus group and 8 products of MF coincided with the biochemical assay. Taken together, our newly developed mPCR assay was species-specific and effective in application. It can be used to detect and identify the strains of B. megaterium and B. cereus group from microbial fertilizer products.
