Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection causes numerous non-opportunistic as well as opportunistic neurologic illnesses. Neurologic manifestations include Guillain Barré Syndrome (GBS) which may present atypically. In areas endemic for HIV, the manifestation of GBS with a motor syndrome
and axonal neuropathy is not uncommon. We report a 36-year-old man who presented with a sub-
acute limb weakness associated with HIV infection.
