Despite advances in tumor treatment methods in recent years and a gradual decline in cancer mortality rates， drug-related adverse reactions and drug resistance remain substantial challenges. Traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） has demonstrated significant clinical efficacy in cancer treatment and small side effects， making it widely applied in the field of oncology. Xuefu Zhuyutang， derived from Yilin Gaicuo， is known for its abilities to invigorate blood circulation， dispel blood stasis， promote Qi flow， and alleviate pain. It was specifically formulated by the esteemed WANG Qingren of the Qing dynasty for the "blood stasis syndrome in the blood mansion" and is commonly used to treat Qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome. Clinical studies have shown that Xuefu Zhuyutang， when combined with conventional Western medications， produces significant effects in the treatment of malignant tumors such as liver cancer， lung cancer， and cervical cancer. It substantially reduces the incidence of adverse reactions following Western treatments， including radiation esophagitis， radiation encephalopathy， radiation-induced oral mucositis， and edema. Additionally， it alleviates cancer-related pain and fever， blood hypercoagulability， and associated complications such as depression and anxiety， and also mitigates chemotherapy-induced side effects like hand-foot syndrome. Basic research has demonstrated its potential anti-tumor mechanisms， including the inhibition of Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway activation， suppression of mitogen-activated protein kinase （MAPK） pathway activation， and anti-tumor angiogenesis. Pharmacological studies have revealed that its active components inhibit tumor cell proliferation and migration， induce tumor cell apoptosis， suppress tumor angiogenesis， enhance the cytotoxicity of natural killer cells against tumors， improve the tumor microenvironment， and regulate immune function. This paper reviewed the latest research progress on Xuefu Zhuyutang in the treatment of malignant tumors from four aspects： theoretical exploration， clinical studies， mechanisms of action， and pharmacological basis， aiming to provide insights and methods for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of malignant tumors.

Esophageal cancer is a common malignant tumor of the digestive tract. At present， the pathogenesis of esophageal cancer has not been fully clarified. Although surgery， radiotherapy， chemotherapy， targeted therapy， and immunotherapy have achieved good clinical results in the treatment of esophageal cancer， there are still many complications and severe adverse reactions. As an important part of traditional Chinese medicine （TCM）， in recent years， many basic experiments and clinical studies have proved that Chinese medicine has a good effect in treating esophageal cancer. At the same time， the multi-component and multi-target characteristics of Chinese medicine and unclear pathogenesis of esophageal cancer determine that there are some problems such as unclear mechanisms of Chinese medicine in preventing and treating esophageal cancer. It is necessary to start with modern medicine and reveal the mechanism of Chinese medicine in preventing and treating diseases from the aspects of molecular biology and network pharmacology. It is believed in TCM that the occurrence of esophageal cancer is mostly attributed to stagnation of liver Qi， phlegm stasis and Qi stagnation， fluid consumption and heat accumulation， the decline of healthy Qi， and the cementation of cancer toxicity. According to the literature review， Chinese medicinal compounds mainly include tonic formulae （such as Liu Junzitang）， drying and moistening formulas （such as Qigesan）， and heat-clearing formulas （such as Fufang Kushen injection）. Chinese medicinal monomers mainly include drugs potent in attacking poison and killing insects， clearing heat， activating blood and resolving stasis， and regulating Qi， which is consistent with the etiology and pathogenesis of esophageal cancer in TCM. It is also found that Chinese medicine can promote cell apoptosis and autophagy， block cell cycle， and reverse cell resistance by regulating phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/protein kinase B （PI3K/Akt）， neurogenic locus notch homolog protein （Notch）， Wnt/β-catenin， mitogen-activated protein kinase （MAPK）， nuclear factor-κB （NF-κB）， Janus kinase 2/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 （JAK2/STAT3）， and other related signaling pathways， but there is no systematic summary. This study systematically summarized the relevant signaling pathways of Chinese medicine in regulating esophageal cancer， which is helpful to clarify the relevant mechanisms of Chinese medicine in the process of esophageal cancer occurrence， development， invasion， and metastasis， so as to provide new targets and new perspectives for the treatment of esophageal cancer and promote the modernization of TCM.

Abstract On 18 May 2021, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of X District in P City, Z Province received a co-investigation of a suspected case of intentional HIV transmission from the public security branch, and conducted epidemiological investigations on Zhao and Wang (both males). Wang was confirmed HIV-positive in 2019. Zhao had unprotected sexual encounters several times with Wang in March 2021 without being informed of Wang's HIV infection. Zhao developed fever, sore throat and other symptoms of acute infection phase on 28 March, and were confirmed HIV positive by the CDC of P City on 11 May. Zhao did not have sex with anyone else before or after having sex with Wang. In addition, Zhao had no history of surgery, blood transfusions, drug use or any other history of HIV exposure. Laboratory tests conducted by the CDC of Z Province showed that the HIV nucleic acid sequences between the samples of Zhao and Wang had a high degree of homology. Combined with the epidemiological investigation, laboratory testing and the evidence from the public security branch, it was concluded that Wang intentionally transmitted HIV to Zhao through unprotected anal sex without disclosing his HIV infection status.

In the past decades, we have witnessed considerable advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of oral diseases. However, there still remain significant challenges, such as the regeneration of functional oral tissues. Therefore, new approaches are urgently needed. The oral is a complex biomechanical system where mechanics plays an essential role in the development and functioning of tissues and organs, as well as in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Thus, the integration of mechanics into oral disease diagnostics and therapeutics warrants greater attention. To date, the potential of mechanics in oral healthcare has not been sufficiently explored. Recent advancements in biomechanics and mechanobiology within oral medicine have underscored the growing relevance of mechanical theories, analytical methods, innovative technologies, and novel biomaterials in disease diagnosis and treatment. Therefore, this paper proposes the concept of "Oral Mechanomedicine" by summarizing research progress both domestically and internationally. It systematically describes the influence and mechanisms of mechanics in the etiology, progression, diagnosis, and treatment of oral diseases across four domains, i.e., oral biomechanics, oral mechanobiology, oral mechanodiagnostics, and oral mechanotherapy. Our aim is to enable more precise diagnoses, effective treatments, and comprehensive oral disease management. Additionally, this paper offers insights into the future trajectory of Oral Mechanomedicine, proposing new theoretical viewpoints and practical approaches to advance the field of oral medicine.

Objective:To investigate the effect of Qideng Mingmu capsule on the formation and remodeling of retinal neovascularization in mice with oxygen-induced retinopathy (OIR).Methods:Thirty-six postnatal day 7 (P7)SPF grade C57BL/6J pups were divided into normal group, OIR group, Qideng Mingmu capsule group and apatinib group by random number table method, with 9 mice in each group.The mice in the normal group were raised in normal environment.The mice in the other three groups were fed in hyperoxic environment of (75±2)% oxygen concentration for 5 days from P7 to P12 and then were fed in normal environment for 5 days from P12 to P17 to establish the OIR model.From P12, mice in Qideng Mingmu capsule group and apatinib group were given intragastric administration of Qideng Mingmu capsule (900 mg/kg) and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 inhibitor apatinib (70 mg/kg) respectively, once a day for 5 consecutive days.On P17, paraffin sections of mouse eyeballs were made and stained with hematoxylin-eosin to count the number of vascular endothelial cells that broke through the internal limiting membrane.The retinal slices were prepared and stained with FITC-dextran to quantify the retinal non-perfusion area, neovascularization density and total vascular density.The distribution and fluorescence intensity of retinal vascular endothelial cell marker CD31 and pericyte marker α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) were observed by double immunofluorescence staining.Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expression and distribution of retinal hypoxia inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) and vascular endothelial cadherin (VE-cadherin).The use and care of animals were in accordance with the Regulations on the Management of Laboratory Animals issued by the Ministry of Science and Technology.This study was approved by the Animal Ethics Committee of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (No.2019-30).Results:The number of vascular endothelial cells breaking through the internal limiting membrane in normal group, OIR group, Qideng Mingmu capsule group and apatinib group were (2.83±4.40), (37.33±5.43), (23.83±6.79) and (14.00±9.34), respectively, with a statistically significant overall difference ( F=28.313, P<0.001).There were more vascular endothelial cells breaking through internal limiting membrane in OIR group than in normal group, Qideng Mingmu capsule group and apatinib group, showing statistically significant differences (all at P<0.05).In the observation of mouse retinal slices, there were large non-perfusion areas, neovascularization buds and disordered distribution of blood vessels in OIR group.The distribution of blood vessels was more uniform and the areas of non-perfusion and neovascularization were smaller in Qideng Mingmu capsule group and apatinib group than in OIR group.The relative area of central retinal non-perfusion area and neovascularization density were significantly lower in normal group, Qideng Mingmu capsule group and apatinib group than in OIR group (all at P<0.05).The immunofluorescence intensity of CD31 and the absorbance value of HIF-1α were significantly lower, and the immunofluorescence intensity of α-SMA and the absorbance value of VE-cadherin were significantly higher in normal group, Qideng Mingmu capsule group and apatinib group than in OIR group (all at P<0.05). Conclusions:Qideng Mingmu capsule can inhibit retinal neovascularization formation, increase vascular pericyte coverage, relieve retinal hypoxia and increase vascular integrity in OIR mice.It can protect the retinal vessels of OIR mice.

[Objective]To explore the academic characteristics of abdominal diagnosis in General Treatise on the Cause and Symptoms of Diseases.[Methods]Through screening and sorting out the provisions on abdominal diagnosis in General Treatise on the Cause and Symptoms of Diseases,combined with the research achievements of doctors in the past dynasties,this paper reviews the development process of abdominal diagnosis from four aspects:historical tracing,abdominal diagnosis techniques,diagnostic points and modern development,analyzes the specific techniques of abdominal diagnosis,explores the key points of abdominal diagnosis and identification,and summarizes the new progress of modern medicine in abdominal diagnosis in General Treatise on the Cause and Symptoms of Diseases.[Results]From the beginning of"The Yellow Emperor's Inner Classic"to the differentiation period of"Treatise on Febrile Diseases",the abdominal diagnosis techniques were mainly used to press and buckle for a long time,and it was not until the Sui Dynasty that abdominal diagnosis techniques entered a new stage of development.In terms of techniques,General Treatise on the Cause and Symptoms of Diseases innovated the abdominal diagnosis techniques such as suppressing,cutting,pushing,speculating,shaking and rotating,and elaborated its movement essentials and characteristics in detail.In terms of diagnosis and treatment,General Treatise on the Cause and Symptoms of Diseases described the key points of diagnosis such as abdominal strength,abdominal warmth,irritability,palpitation,pain,mass,etc.,which had important guiding significance for mastering the etiology and pathogenesis,judging the disease's deficiency and excess,cold and hot,prognosis.Modern scholars based on the methods of abdominal diagnosis of various diseases,combined with clinical experience,expanded the scope of abdominal diagnosis and treatment,and obtained considerable curative effect in the process of disease diagnosis and treatment.[Conclusion]General Treatise on the Cause and Symptoms of Diseases not only innovates the technique of abdominal diagnosis,but also describes the main points of abdominal diagnosis in detail,and extends abdominal diagnosis to many departments of internal medicine,surgery,obstetrics and gynecology,and pediatrics which has important academic value.

Objective To retrieve, evaluate, and summarize evidence on preventive management of high output and dehydration in ileostomy patients from both domestic and international sources. Methods Based on the "6S" evidence model, a top-down approach was employed to retrieve evidence on prevention and management of high output and dehydration in ileostomy patients. Databases searched included BMJ best practice, UpToDate, National Guideline Clearinghouse (NGC), National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN), Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO), Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society (WOCNS), World Council of Enterostomal Therapists (WCET), Medlive Clinical Guidelines website, Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI), Cochrane Library, Embase, PubMed, Web of Science, CNKI, Wanfang Data, China Biology Medicine (CBM), and VIP Database. The search period was from January 2019 to April 2024. Results A total of 13 articles were included after retrieval and screening, comprising 2 guidelines, 2 expert consensuses, 4 systematic reviews, 4 evidence summaries, and 1 clinical decision aid. After translation, summarization, and organization of the included articles, 19 pieces of evidence across 11 categories were formulated, focusing on four items: definition and risk factors of high output in ileostomy, prevention and management strategies related to high output in ileostomy, prevention and management strategies related to dehydration in high-output ileostomy, and follow-up strategies for prevention of high output and dehydration after ileostomy surgery. Conclusion The evidence summarized based on the "6S" evidence model for prevention and management of high output and dehydration in ileostomy patients can provide a reference for clinical practice among healthcare professionals and medical decision-makers, thereby enhancing nursing quality and reducing patient rehospitalization rates.

To report a case of generalized lichen amyloidosis successfully treated with dupilumab in China. A 70-year-old male patient presented with extensive itchy papules on the trunk and extremities for 23 years. Skin examination revealed diffuse millet-to mung bean-sized hemispherical brown plaques on the trunk, right anterior shank, and extensor aspect of both upper arms, with a hard texture on palpation. No abnormalities were observed in the blood eosinophil count or serum IgE level. Histopathological examination of the skin lesion on the lower limb showed epidermal hyperkeratosis and homogeneous red-stained lumpy materials in the papillary dermis. Immunohistochemical study showed positive staining with Congo red. The pruritus numerical rating scale score was 10 points. The diagnosis of generalized lichen amyloidosis was confirmed. The patient received subcutaneous injection of dupilumab at an initial dose of 600 mg, followed by an every-2-week regimen at a dose of 300 mg. At week 2 after the start of treatment, pruritus was markedly relieved; at week 14, the skin lesions began to subside markedly; at week 18, the skin lesions on the chest and abdomen nearly completely subsided, and lesions on the lower back and limbs markedly regressed. No obvious adverse reactions were observed.

OBJECTIVES: The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effect of hydroxyapatite (HA)-based desensiti-zing agents and determine their influence on the bonding performance of mild universal adhesives. METHODS: Mid-coronal dentin samples were sectioned from human third molars and prepared for a dentin-sensitive model. According to desensitizing applications, they were randomly divided into four groups for the following treatments: no desensitizing treatment (control), Biorepair toothpaste (HA-based desensitizing toothpaste) treatment, Dontodent toothpaste (HA-based desensitizing toothpaste) treatment, and HA paste treatment. Dentin tubular occlusion and occluded area ratios were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Furthermore, All-Bond Universal, Single Bond Universal, and Clearfil Universal Bond were applied to the desensitized dentin in self-etch mode. The wettability and surface free energy (SFE) of desensitized dentin were evaluated by contact angle measurements. Bonded specimens were sectioned into beams and tested for micro-tensile bond strength to analyze the effect of desensitizing treatment on the bond strength to dentin of universal adhesives. RESULTS: SEM revealed that the dentin tubule was occluded by HA-based desensitizing agents, and the area ratios for the occluded dentin tubules were in the following order: HA group>Biorepair group>Dontodent group (P<0.05). Contact angle analysis demonstrated that HA-based desensitizing agents had no statistically significant influence on the wettability of the universal adhesives (P>0.05). The SFE of dentin significantly increased after treatment by HA-based desensitizing agents (P<0.05). The micro-tensile bond strength test showed that HA-based desensitizing toothpastes always decreased the μTBS values (P<0.05), whereas the HA paste group presented similar bond strength to the control group (P>0.05), irrespective of universal adhesive types. CONCLUSIONS HA-based desensitizing agents can occlude the exposed dentinal tubules on sensitive dentin. When mild and ultra-mild universal adhesives were used for subsequent resin restoration, the bond strength was reduced by HA-based desensitizing toothpastes, whereas the pure HA paste had no adverse effect on bond strength.
