ObjectiveTo dynamically observe and evaluate the damage to the pulmonary air-blood barrier in mice during the inflammatory cancer transformation process of ulcerative colitis (UC) based on the "lung-intestine correlation" theory. MethodsSixty-five C57BL/6 mice were divided into a normal group (n=25) and a model group (n=40) using a random number table. Azoxymethane/dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) method was used to establish a mouse model of UC inflammation cancer transformation in the modeling group. According to the tissue collection time points at 5, 8, 11, 13, and 15 weeks, the normal group mice were randomly divided into the normal 5w, 8w, 11w, 13w, and 15w groups. The model group mice, 10 mice of which died after the first cycle of DSS administration, were randomly divided into model 5w, 8w, 11w, 13w, and 15w groups. During the experiment, the general condition of the mice was observed daily, and their body weight was measured weekly. At the corresponding tissue collection time points, the colon length of each group was measured. Histopathology of mouse lung and colon tissues was examined using HE staining. Immunofluorescence was used to detect changes in the positive expression of tight junction protein (ZO-1), vascular endothelial cadherin (VE-cadherin), and cytoskeletal protein (F-actin) in lung and colon tissues. RT-PCR was used to detect the mRNA expression of apoptosis regulatory proteins B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2), BCL2-associated X protein (Bax), and Cysteine aspartic acid protease-3 (Caspase-3) in lung tissues. Western Blot was employed to measure protein levels of ZO-1, VE-cadherin, and F-actin in lung tissues. ResultsCompared to the normal group at the same time point, the mice in the model group at each time point generally had poorer conditions, with weight loss and shortened colon length (P<0.05 or P<0.01). In the model 5w group, there was significant inflammatory cell infiltration in the colon tissue; in the model 8w group, there was mild atypical hyperplasia; in the model 11w group, the crypt structure was disordered, and moderate to severe atypical hyperplasia occurred; in the model 13w and 15w groups, tumors appeared. Pulmonary interstitial lesions, inflammation, vasculitis, and fibrosis were observed at all stages of UC inflammation cancer transformation. The protein levels of ZO-1, VE-cadherin, and F-actin, as well as Bcl-2 mRNA expression in lung tissue decreased during the acute inflammatory recovery period, atypical hyperplasia period, and canceration period, while the expressions of Bax and Caspase-3 mRNA increased; the expressions of ZO-1, VE-cadherin, and F-actin proteins in colon tissue decreased during the acute inflammatory recovery period, atypical hyperplasia period, and canceration period (P<0.01 or P<0.05). Compared to the model 5w group, the ZO-1 and F-actin protein levels and Bcl-2 mRNA expression in lung tissue in the other model groups increased in the atypical hyperplasia period and canceration period, while the expressions of Bax and Caspase-3 mRNA decreased; the expression of ZO-1 protein in colon tissue increased in the canceration period, and the expression of VE-cadherin protein decreased in the atypical hyperplasia period (P<0.01 or P<0.05). ConclusionIn the process of "inflammatory response-atypical hyperplasia-carcinogenesis" in UC inflammatory cancer transformation mice, there were damage to air-blood barrier.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2025;46(11):1630-1634
Objective:
To analyze the distribution and related factors of spherical equivalent(SE) anisometropia in school aged children in ethnic minority areas of Yunnan Province, so as to provide a scientific basis for the intervention and control of SE anisometropia.
Methods:
In October 2021,a total of 1 852 school aged children in three counties/cities(Lijiang City,Dali City,Xishuangbanna) in Yunnan Province were examined by multi stage cluster random sampling method for computer optometry visual acuity examination for non ciliary paralysis and questionnaire survey.Demographic characteristics, ocular biological parameters and SE data were obtained for SE anisometropia. Group comparisons were conducted using Mann-Whitney U test or Kruskal-Wallis H test, and Logistic regression was used to explore the related factors of anisometropia in SE.
Results:
The prevalence of SE anisometropia among school age children was 23.0%, and the prevalence was higher in girls (24.2%) than that in boys (21.6%). Compared with non anisometropic children, school aged children with SE anisometropia had longer axial length (AL) [24.03 (23.41, 24.76), 23.93 (23.26, 24.61) mm] and corneal curvature radius (CR) [43.42 (42.43, 44.42), 43.14 (42.23, 44.04)mm], SE[-1.75(-2.75,-1.00),-0.94(-2.63,-0.25)D], smaller spherical scope [-1.38(-2.38,-0.75),-0.75(-2.38,0)D], deeper anterior chamber depth(ACD)[3.77(3.62, 3.93), 3.72(3.55, 3.89)mm], and grater differences in AL[0.58(0.32,0.82), 0.13( 0.06 ,0.22)mm], ACD[0.05(0.02,0.08), 0.03(0.01,0.06)mm] and AL/CR[0.01(0.01,0.02), 0.01(0.00,0.01)]( Z =-22.47 to -2.41, all P <0.05). The results of Logistic regression showed that mild myopia( OR =2.74), moderate myopia( OR =3.52), and high myopia( OR =8.92) had a relatively high risk of anisometropia SE in school aged children(all P <0.05).
Conclusion
The prevalence of SE anisometropia in school aged children in ethnic minority areas of Yunnan Province is relatively high, and the prevalence and degree of anisometropia were closely related to myopia degree and related refractive parameters.

Objective To analyze differences in the intestinal microbiota and transcriptomics between N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine(MNNG)gastric cancer rats and normal rats and to analyze the correlation between the two,so as to provide a reference for related studies using MNNG gastric cancer rats as a model. Methods A total of 12 Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal(NM)and gastric cancer(GC)groups. The GC group was given a concentration of 20 mg/mL of MNNG by gavage with a dose of 100 g/mL once a day,and the NM group was given the same amount of normal saline by gavage.Samples were collected for testing after 16 weeks of continuous intervention. The gastric tissues were collected and stained by HE staining to observe morphological changes in the gastric mucosa of the two groups, and the expression levels of differential genes were detected by transcriptome sequencing. The cecal contents were collected for 16S rRNA sequencing.Results(1)Visual observation and HE results showed that the volume of gastric mucosa in the NM group was normal, the surface was glossy, the gastric wall was elastic, the direction of the mucosal folds was regular, there were no hyperplasia or hemorrhagic spots. In the GC group, the volume of gastric mucosa was reduced, the gastric wall was thinned, elasticity was poor, the direction of the folds was disordered and irregular, and there was a bulge accompanied by yellow-black keratotic hyperplasia. In the NM group, the squamous epithelial layer, submucosa, and muscular layer of the gastric mucosa were clear, with no hyperplasia and keratinization. In the GC group, the gastric mucosa had disorganized layers and cell polarity, with different cell morphologies;the squamous epithelial layer was destroyed, and squamous epithelial cells were hyperplasic, keratinized, and had invaded the muscular layer by proliferation. The modeling was considered successful.(2)The results of intestinal microbiota sequencing showed that the abundance of Akkermansia and Lactobacillus in MNNG gastric cancer rats decreased significantly, and the abundance of the rumen coccaceae Prevonella, and Blauter increased significantly.(3)The three key pathways obtained by transcriptomic sequencing and KEGG pathway enrichment analysis were amebiasis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, and five genes differentially enriched in these three pathways were those for MCPT8I2,IGH-6,IGHG1,ACTN2,and VEGF-D.(4)Combined analysis of intestinal microbiota and transcriptomics showed that_UCG-005,Prevonella_UCG-003 and Brautella were positively correlated with amebiasis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway. Conclusions The abundance of intestinal microbiota in gastric cancer rats formed by MNNG gavage is different from that of normal rats. The genes for MCPT8I2,IGH-6,IGHG1,ACTN2 and VEGF-D may be up-regulated in gastric cancer induced by MNNG gavage.Combined analysis of intestinal microbiota and differential genes suggested that the mechanism of MNNG carcinogenesis may be mainly related to the destruction of gastric mucosa and the inflammatory response.

Herald of Medicine 2025;44(7):1134-1141
In recent years, there has been a gradual increase in the number of common diseases among children in China, especially younger children.Children are a unique population with distinct differences from adults, such as indications, dosage, accessories, and other characteristics, when it comes to using medication.Long-acting injections,in comparison to regular injections used for long-term treatment in children, can reduce sudden drug side effects and significantly decrease injection frequency. This greatly improves compliance among child patients and enhances clinical outcomes.Long-acting injections offer significant advantages for managing diseases in children. This paper reviews the progress made in basic research on long-acting injectable formulations for children based on interactions between drugs and materials.Additionally, potential future development directions are discussed to guide further advancements in long-acting injections specifically designed for children's needs.

Objective To explore function-structure covariant patterns in Alzheimer's disease(AD)and mild cognitive impairment(MCI),and to investigate their associations with cognitive function and activities of daily living. Methods three-way parallel group independent component analysis(three-way pGICA),was used to identify the covariant patterns of resting-state functional MRI temporal data, gray matter density maps, and fractional anisotropy(FA)maps, and the differences between different groups were compared.Furthermore, the associations of covariant patterns with the Montreal Cognitive Assessment-Basic(MoCA_B)Scale scores and Activities of Daily Living Scale scores were analyzed. Results The function-structure covariant patterns in AD and MCI were characterized by the enhanced negative functional connectivity between the left posterior salience network and the right default mode network, the decreased gray matter density in the bilateral dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, and the reduced FA values in the left superior corona radiata(correlations:P<0.001,FDR corrected).Compared with HC group,AD group showed significant abnormalities in all identified covariant patterns(P<0.01,FDR corrected),but MCI group only exhibited a significant decrease in gray matter density in the bilateral dorsolateral prefrontal cortex(P<0.05,FDR corrected).Additionally,AD group had significantly lower FA value in the left superior corona radiata than MCI group(P<0.05,FDR corrected). The loadings reflecting the degree of covariation were significantly correlated with the Activities of Daily Living Scale scores(P<0.05,FDR corrected)but not with MoCA_B Scale scores. Conclusion The function-structure covariant patterns in AD and MCI are consistent with the declines in activities of daily living. The multimodal fusion analysis(three-way pGICA)provides a novel approach to understand the brain damage mechanisms underlying the covariant evolution of MCI and AD.
