Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics and prognostic factors of Staphylococcus aureus bloodstream infections in adult patients for improving clinical treatment and identifying potential interventions.Methods Clinical data of inpatients diagnosed with S.aureus bloodstream infection confirmed by blood culture in a hospital from January 2016 to December 2023 were retrospectively reviewed.The data included patient age,gender,history of hospital admission,department of admission,underlying diseases,primary infection,quick Pitt bacteremia score(qPitt),invasive treatment,empirical anti-infective treatment,and treatment outcomes.Patients were assigned to case group or control group according to whether they died in hospital in order to identify the prognostic factors of patient outcomes.Binary logistic regression analysis was used to identify independent prognostic factors.Results A total of 233 cases of S.aureus bacteremia were identified.Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that age ≥ 70 years old(OR=4.725,95％CI:1.228-18.173,P=0.024),diabetes mellitus(OR=8.161,95％CI:1.954-34.086,P=0.004),Charlson comorbidity index(CCI)≥ 5(OR=7.672,95％CI:1.901-30.963,P=0.004),hospital infection(OR=7.853,95％CI:1.588-38.832,P=0.012),and qPitt ≥ 2(OR=23.189,95％CI:4.461-120.552,P＜0.001)were independent prognostic factors for poor outcome of patients with S.aureus bacteremia,while catheter-associated infection(OR=0.051,95％CI:0.005-0.579,P=0.016)was negatively correlated with mortality.Conclusions Advanced age,diabetes mellitus,high CCI,hospital infection,and high qPitt were independent prognostic factors for poor outcomes of patients with S.aureus bacteremia.The patients should be well managed by timely removal of eradicable lesions to improve patient outcomes.

Objective To prepare rat models of liver stagnation syndrome constipation-type irritable bowel syndrome(IBS-C)using single and multi-factor modeling method with different indicators,to provide ideal experimental animal models of IBS-C.Methods Forty-two SD rats were divided randomly into blank(Normal),cold-water gavage(Cold),restraint(Restrain),tail-clamping(Tail),cold-water gavage + restraint(C + R),and cold-water gavage + tail-clamping groups(C + T).Body weight,food intake,water intake,and survival status,as well as open-field behavior,fecal Bristol score,visceral sensitivity,and small intestine propulsion were observed in each group during the modeling period.Pathological changes in the rat colon were observed by hematoxylin and eosin staining,and the serum and colon contents of 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT)and vasoactive intestinal peptide(VIP)were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Results The body weight in each group decreased after modeling(P<0.05,P<0.01),the food and water intakes decreased,and serum 5-HT levels increased.The number of fecal particles and Bristol score decreased while the colon 5-HT content increased in the Cold group(P<0.05,P<0.01);the total distance and average speed of the restraint group in the open field decreased(P<0.01);the preference for sugar water in the Tail group decreased(P<0.01);the preference for sugar water,total open-field distance,small intestine propulsion rate,defecation particles,and Bristol score all decreased,while the colon 5-HT content increased and the VIP content decreased in the C + T group(P<0.05,P<0.01);and the total distance,average speed,and VIP content in the colon decreased in the C + R group(P<0.05).Except for the Tail group,all the model groups showed visceral hypersensitivity(P<0.05,P<0.01)compared to the blank group at various pressure values on days 7 and 14 of modeling.Pathological observations showed no significant inflammatory cell infiltration or pathological changes in any of the model groups.Conclusions The combination of ice-water gastric lavage and tail clamping can be used to establish a rat model of liver depression syndrome in IBS-C.This may be the best of the five tested method,and the resulting model may lay the foundation for further systematic and in-depth research into the mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine in preventing and treating IBS-C.

Objective:To explore the current situation of nursing human caring in hospital wards and analyze its influencing factors, so as to facilitate the development of nursing human caring practice.Methods:From July to November 2022, a total of 107 hospitals were surveyed through stratified convenience sampling method, and 4 072 ward nursing managers were recruited to finish the general information questionnaire and the ward nursing human caring status questionnaire. The general information included the region, class and type of the hospital, etc. The ward nursing human caring status questionnaire included 38 items in 5 dimensions of nursing human caring system and process, humanistic quality and training of nursing staff, humanistic environment and facilities, human caring procedures and measures, and human caring quality evaluation and improvement, with a full score of 190 points. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the general data, independent samples t-test, ANOVA and correlation analysis were used to analyze the factors influencing the current status of nursing human caring in the ward, while multiple linear regression analysis was used to conduct a multivariate analysis. Results:The score of nursing human caring in hospital wards was 156.91±27.78. Whether the hospital had carried out nursing human caring pilot(demonstration) wards, whether the ward had previously been a hospital nursing human caring pilot(demonstration) nursing unit, the type of ward, and whether nursing managers had participated in human caring training were the influencing factors of the implication of nursing humanistic caring in wards( P<0.05). Conclusions:The practice of nursing human caring in hospital wards is at a good level, but needs to be further strengthened. Nursing managers should take systematically strategies to promote the development of nursing human caring practice.

In recent years, with the development of proteomic technologies (two-dimensional electrophoresis, yeast two-hybrid technology, mass spectrum, etc.), many researchers have focused their researches on the study of asthenozoospermia based on proteomics, revealing the differential proteins of asthenozoospermia and the biological pathways that underlie them, providing numerous theoretical support for the mechanistic study of asthenozoospermia. In this review, we focus on the relevant techniques of proteomics and summarize the many achievements made in understanding the differential protein expression, etiology, and mechanism of asthenozoospermia, which will hopefully provide new insights into the diagnosis and treatment of asthenozoospermia. Protein-protein interactions and pathways and metabolic abnormalities provide a promising direction to study sperm motility in asthenozoospermia.

To investigate the distribution and diagnostic value of serum anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) in healthy women of childbearing age, women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), ovarian dysfunction (DOR) and premature ovarian failure (POF). This study retrospectively selected female patients of childbearing age who were treated in the affiliated Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University from January to December 2019. According to different clinical manifestations, they were divided into 133 cases in PCOS group, 120 cases in DOR group and 134 cases in POF group. 125 healthy women in the same period were selected as the control group. The values of serum AMH, estradiol (E2), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH) and testosterone (T) were measured in the four groups. Single sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, one-way ANOVA, independent sample t-test, Kruskal-Wallis H test, Mann-Whitney U test, logistic regression analysis and ROC curve were used for comparative analysis. The serum AMH levels of PCOS group, DOR group, POF group and control group were 9.10 (6.67, 11.49) ng/ml, 0.11 (0.05, 0.29) ng/ml, 0.03 (0.02, 0.06) ng/ml and 2.99 (1.57, 4.98) ng/ml, respectively [ M(Q1,Q3)], the differences were statistically significant ( P<0.001). The basal endocrine levels including E2, FSH, LH and T also had significant differences between groups ( P<0.001). The results of multiple comparisons showed that there were significant differences in AMH and LH between DOR, POF and PCOS groups and the control group. The T level of PCOS group was significantly higher than that of the control group, the E2, LH and T levels of DOR group were significantly higher than that of the control group, and the FSH level of POF group was significantly higher than that of the control group ( P<0.05). The area under the curve (AUC) of AMH and AMH+LH in the diagnosis of PCOS were 0.905 and 0.922, the sensitivity was 82.7% and 85.0%, and the specificity was 88.0% and 88.8%. The AUC of DOR was 0.861 and 0.971, the sensitivity was 89.0% and 92.5%, and the specificity was 63.0% and 92.0%. The AUC of POF was 0.950 and 0.998, the sensitivity was 98.3% and 99.2%, and the specificity was 75.9% and 97.0%, respectively. The AUC of AMH and AMH+LH combined indexes in the differential diagnosis of DOR and POF were 0.768 and 0.937, the sensitivity was 70.3% and 95.5%, and the specificity was 73.9% and 80.8%.

Breast cancer is globally the most common invasive cancer in women and remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths. Surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and endocrine therapy are currently the main treatments for this cancer type. However, some breast cancer patients are prone to drug resistance related to chemotherapy or immunotherapy, resulting in limited treatment efficacy. Consequently, traditional Chinese medicinal materials (TCMMs) as natural products have become an attractive source of novel drugs. In this review, we summarized the current knowledge on the active components of animal-derived TCMMs, including Ophiocordycepssinensis-derived cordycepin, the aqueous and ethanolic extracts of O.sinensis, norcantharidin (NCTD), Chansu, bee venom, deer antlers, Ostreagigas, and scorpion venom, with reference to marked anti-breast cancer effects due to regulating cell cycle arrest, proliferation, apoptosis, metastasis, and drug resistance. In future studies, the underlying mechanisms for the antitumor effects of these components need to be further investigated by utilizing multi-omics technologies. Furthermore, large-scale clinical trials are necessary to validate the efficacy of bioactive constituents alone or in combination with chemotherapeutic drugs for breast cancer treatment.

Objective:To understand the genetic characteristics of subgenus C human adenovirus (HAdV-C) strain isolated in Hunan in 2014.Methods:An HAdV-C strain named Hunan2014-s024 was isolated from throat swab collected from a child with severe acute respiratory infection in Changsha city of Hunan province in 2014. The whole genome sequence (WGS) was obtained by segmented amplification and sequence splicing. Database of HAdV-C was constructed with the strain from this study and the HAdV-C representative strains from GenBank. The whole genome characteristics was analyzed by using bioinformatics software.Results:Strain Hunan2014-s024 has the highest homology with the HAdV-C strain (MK041244-CHN-2006) isolated from stool sample of a healthy child in Shanxi province in 2006, and the genome of strain MK041244-CHN-2006 was used as the backbone, and penton based gene was replaced by gene fragment from MK041246-chn-2012 strain isolated from a child with acute lower respiratory tract infection in Hunan province in 2012.Conclusions:Our result indicated that 2014 Hunan strain(Hunan2014-s024)is a recombinant virus of 2006 Shanxi strain(MK041244-CHN-2006)and 2012 Hunan strain(MK041246-CHN-2012). Due to the change of pathogenicity, it is necessary to strengthen the molecular epidemiological surveillance of HAdV-C to understand its potential disease burden and public health significance.
