With technological advancement and the growing demand for renewable energy, research and applications of new energy materials are becoming increasingly widespread. Typical new energy materials include lithium-ion battery materials, nanomaterials, nuclear energy materials and magnetic materials, etc., each of which has special toxicological characteristics. These materials may pose potential toxicological risks in the process of resource exploitation, production, transportation, usage, recycling or disposal, which have negatively impact on human health and the ecological environment. Occupational exposure is the main route of energy materials exposure, with potential health hazards on workers during the processes of production, transportation, recycling, and disposal. Among them, the disassembled batteries in the recycling or waste disposal process requires quality control, which is the high-risk position of occupational hazards. At present, the toxicology study of typical new energy materials mainly focuses on the potential impact of lithium-ion battery materials and nanomaterials on human health and the environment, but there are still limitations and challenges. In the future, it is necessary to further strengthen the human health risk management and prevention and control of new energy materials to protect human health and sustainable development.

BackgroundSevere mental disorders are characterized by high recurrence rate， high disability rate， high rates of harmful incidents， and low treatment-seeking rate， with affected patients demonstrating increased frequencies of dangerous behaviors. Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region has implemented community management for patients with severe mental disorders across the region since 2004， while the current status and regional characteristics of the managed patients remain unclear. ObjectiveTo analyze the current status of management and treatment of patients with severe mental disorders in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region， and to explore their regional distribution characteristics， so as to provide references for optimizing regional prevention and control strategies. MethodsPatients with severe mental disorders diagnosed and registered in the Severe Mental Disorder Management Information Platform of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region from August 1， 2011 to December 31， 2021 were selected. Patients' basic information， management indicators， and treatment metrics were extracted from the platform， followed by descriptive statistical analysis of the corresponding data. ResultsAs of December 31， 2021， the permanent resident population of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region was 6 946 540， with 29 787 registered patients with severe mental disorders. The majority of the patients were female （50.25%）， aged 18-59 years （79.01%）， with educational level of junior high school or below （84.63%）， married （52.87%）， farmers （56.01%）， and diagnosed with schizophrenia （55.91%）， while ethnic minority patients accounted for a relatively high proportion （31.35%）. In 2021， the reported prevalence rate of severe mental disorders in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region was 0.43%， with standardized management and regular medication adherence rates at 90.39% and 66.34%， respectively. The standardized management rate in 8 counties/districts （36.36%） was lower than the average level of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region， while 10 counties/districts （45.45%） showed below-average medication adherence rates， of which 6 counties/districts（60.00%） were located in the south-central region. ConclusionPatients with severe mental disorders in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region are predominantly young and middle-aged adults with low level of education， and those in the central-southern region demonstrate lower medication adherence. ［Funded by Key Research and Development Program Project of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region （number， 2023BEG02029）］

BACKGROUND:Clinical studies have found good analgesic effects of silver needle-thermal conduction therapy in patients with myofascial pain syndrome,but the exact mechanism remains unclear. OBJECTIVE:To observe the effect of silver needle-thermal conduction therapy on silent information regulator homolog 3(SIRT3)changes and mitochondrial ultrastructure in a rat model of myofascial pain syndrome. METHODS:Twenty rats were randomly selected from 26 Sprague-Dawley rats and were subjected to percussion combined with motor fatigue for replicating the rat model of myofascial pain syndrome.Sixteen rats that were successfully modeled were randomly divided into model group and silver needle-thermal conduction therapy group(treatment group),with eight rats in each group.The remaining rats were used as controls(normal group).The treatment group was treated with silver needle-thermal conduction therapy.Mechanical withdrawal threshold and thermal withdrawal latency of rats were measured at 1 day before modeling,1 day after modeling and 14 days after treatment.Electromyographic activities of the right medial femoral muscle were measured at 14 days after treatment.The right medial femoral muscle tissue was taken for hematoxylin-eosin staining to observe the local morphology and for transmission electron microscopy to observe the mitochondrial ultrastructure.Western blot assay was performed to detect SIRT3 expression. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Pain threshold:The mechanical withdrawal threshold and thermal withdrawal latency of the model and treatment groups were significantly decreased compared with those in the normal group and before modeling(P＜0.01).After treatment,the mechanical withdrawal threshold and thermal withdrawal latency of rats were significantly higher in the treatment group compared with the model group(P＜0.01).Electromyography:The rats in the model group showed spontaneous electrical activity in the right medial femur,while the rats in the treatment group showed reduced spontaneous electrical activity,longer time frame(P＜0.01)and lower wave amplitude(P＜0.05)compared with the model group.Hematoxylin-eosin staining:In the normal group,rat muscle fibers arranged closely and regularly.In the model group,the muscle fibers of rats were atrophied,degenerated,and disordered in arrangement.In the treatment group,rat muscle structure disorder improved.Mitochondrial microstructure:Under the transmission electron microscope,mitochondrial structure in the normal group was normal;mitochondrial swelling with broken or disappeared cristae appeared in the model group;mitochondrial swelling in the treatment group was obviously relieved or tended to be normal.SIRT3 expression:SIRT3 expression was significantly downregulated in the model group compared with the normal group,but was significantly upregulated in the treatment group compared with the model group(P＜0.05).To conclude,abnormalities in local muscle mitochondria and downregulation of SIRT3 expression suggest the presence of impaired energy metabolism in the rat model of myofascial pain syndrome.Mitochondrial changes recover and are close to normal after the silver needle-thermal conduction therapy,and the expression of SIRT3 is also upregulated close to the normal group,indicating the silver needle-thermal conduction therapy may play a therapeutic role by promoting mitochondrial repair and improving energy metabolism disorder.

Objective To explore the effects of SB AR(Situation,Background,Assessment and Recommendation)com-munication combined with case-scenario simulation teaching model on intermedical communication and critical thinking of medical students in obstetrics and gynecology clerkship.Methods A total of 156 undergraduate clinical medical students who participa-ted in clinical clerkship training in obstetrics and gynecology from November 2022 to May 2023 were randomly divided into the ex-perimental and control groups.The medical students in the experimental group were trained with SB AR communication model combined with case scenario simulation model when they were admitted to the department,and the rest of the training was the same as that of the control group.In the control group,the traditional training mode was applied,and the teaching of intermedial communication was carried out in the form of lectures and bedside observation.We compared the discharge assessment scores(theoretical knowledge and clinical skills),critical thinking ability and satisfaction with the clinical training teaching of the two groups.Results The experimental group trainees'grades in history taking and intermedial communication were better than those of the control group,with significant difference(P＜0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the theoretical knowledge grades between the two groups(P＞0.05).The score of critical thinking in the experimental control group was signifi-cantly higher than that in the control group(P＜0.05).The scores of analytical ability,systematization ability,self-confidence in critical thinking and cognitive maturity were higher in experimental group(P＜0.05),while the scores of truth-seeking,open-mindedness and curiosity were similar between the two groups(P＞0.05).Students in the experimental group were more satis-fied with training model than that in the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion The implementation of SBAR communication model combined with case scenario simulation teaching model in the trainee stage of obstetrics and gynecology for undergraduate students of clinical medicine is conducive to students'interest in learning,enhancement of critical thinking ability,and improve-ment of inter-doctoral communication ability,respecting that it can be popularized in trainee teaching of all kinds of disciplines.

To study the correlation between the level of Bordetella pertussis nucleic acid and clinical features of the disease in infants and young children and to investigate the risk factors for the development of severe pertussis. Using retrospective research methods, children aged 1 month-3 years who came to Hunan Children′s Hospital from August 2023 to February 2024 and were diagnosed with pertussis for analysis. According to the logarithmic value of BP-DNA (log 10 copies/ml), 35 cases were divided into the low load group, 78 cases were divided into the medium load group and 94 cases were divided into the high load group; 54 cases were divided into the severe whooping cough group and 153 cases were divided into the general group according to the severity of the disease; the clinical characteristics and laboratory data of the groups were compared, and the risk factors for the occurrence of severe whooping cough were analyzed at the same time. The ROC was used to evaluate the predictive efficacy of BP-DNA and WBC count for the development of severe pertussis. The results showed that in the high-dose group, the WBC count(22.59×10 9/L), L/N ratio(3.31), and hospitalization days(9.0 d) were significantly higher than those in the medium-dose group and low-dose group ( F=6.309, 2.825, 15.149, all P<0.05). The hospitalization rate (100%), combined infection rate (64.96%), incidence of severe whooping cough (31.9%), pyrexia rate (29.8%), and corticosteroid use rate (57.4%) were also significantly higher than the other two groups ( χ2=25.977, 9.163, 9.371, 8.299, 20.332, all P<0.05), and the complete immunity rate (9.6%) was significantly lower than the other two groups ( χ2=11.632, P<0.05). Compared with the group of common whooping cough, the proportion of children under 1 year old (100%, χ2=9.581), the BP-DNA load (6.56 log 10 copies/ml, Z=4.004), the WBC count(31.34×10 9/L, t=7.513), the PCT level(0.07 ng/ml, Z=2.626), the IL-6 level (6.65 ng/ml, Z=4.336), the combined infection rate (88.9%, χ2=36.536), the incidence of wheezing or dyspnea (55.6%, χ2=42.972), the rate of no improvement of symptoms with macrolides prior to the visit (77.8%, χ2=26.266), and the incidence of fever (55.6%, χ2=42.972) were all significantly higher;the complete immunity rate was significantly lower (5.6%, χ2=9.581) in the severe whooping cough group, the differences were all statistically significant(all P<0.05).The result of logistic regression analysis showed severe elevation of BP-DNA, high leukocyte count, co-infection, wheezing or shortness of breath, pyrexia and no improvement of symptoms with macrolides before the treatment were the risk factors for the development of severe pertussis and the logistic regressive model predicts a sensitivity and specificity of 0.83 and 0.90 for severe whooping cough, respectively. The sensitivity of BP-DNA>1.91×10 6 copies/ml, WBC count >19.97×10 9/L and the binominal combined test to predict the occurrence of severe pertussis were 0.87, 0.61 and 0.80, and the specificity were 0.43, 0.86 and 0.73, respectively. In conclusion, nucleic acid load in infants with pertussis correlated with clinical characteristics such as the active immunity status, fever, co-infections and hospitalisation and days in hospital. Children with high nucleic acid load, high white blood cell counts, co-infections, fever and no improvement of symptoms with macrolides prior to seeing a doctor were more likely to develop the severe pertussis. When BP-DNA >1.91×10 6 copies/ml or WBC counts>19.97×10 9/L, they have the highest predictive efficacy for severe pertussis respectively, and combined detection is better.

Objective To discuss the effect of multidisciplinary family empowerment mode in home care for patients after receiving percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy(PEG).Methods A total of 86 patients,who received initial PEG at the Jilin Provincial Cancer Hospital of China from January 2021 to July 2023,were selected for this study.The patients were randomly divided into observation group.The patients of the control group received routine nursing guidance for gastrostomy,while the patients of the observation group received multidisciplinary family empowerment nursing mode.The self-care ability[using self-care ability scale of the elderly(SASE)score],health behavior ability[using self-rating scale of health behavior ability(SRAHP)score],incidence of complications,and healing time of complications were compared between the two groups.Results In the observation group the SASE[(129.48±5.48)points vs.(73.05±12.04)points]and the SRAHP[(80.14±1.00)points vs.(70.25±7.92)points]were significantly higher than those in the control group(all P＜0.05),the incidence of complications was lower than that in the control group,and the healing time of complications was shorter than that in the control group.Conclusion The implementation of multidisciplinary family empowerment nursing mode can improve the self-care ability and health behavior ability of patients after receiving PEG,reduce postoperative complications,as well as shorten the healing time of complications,therefore,this nursing mode is suitable for home patients after receiving PEG.

Objective To explore the relationship between the use of proton pump inhibitors(PPIs)and the short-term and long-term prognosis of patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(AECOPD).Methods Clinical data of AECOPD patients admitted to the intensive care unit(ICU)from January 2008 to December 2019 were extracted from the MIMIC-Ⅳ database.Patients were divided into PPIs group and non PPIs group based on whether PPIs were used during ICU treatment.Compare the general conditions of two groups of patients and plot survival curves using Kaplan-Meier method to compare the differences in survival rates between the two groups at 28 d and 90 d,respectively.Cox proportional hazards regression was used to analyze the association between PPIs usage and 28 d and 90 d mortality risk in two groups of patients.Results A total of 447 patients were included,including 358 in the PPIs group and 89 in the non PPIs group.The 28 d mortality rate and 90 d mortality rate of the PPIs group were 15.64％and 23.46％,respectively,which were lower than those of the non PPIs group(31.46％and 40.45％,respectively)(P＜0.05).The Kaplan-Meier curve analysis showed that the 28 d and 90 d survival rates of the PPIs group were higher than those in the non PPIs group(P＜0.001).The Cox proportional hazards regression analysis showed that after adjusting for all included variables,the hazard ratio(HR)for 28 d and 90 d mortality in the PPIs group were 0.58(95％CI 0.35 to 0.94,P=0.030),0.63(95％CI 0.41 to 0.96,P=0.022),respectively,compared to the non PPIs group.Conclusion In AECOPD patients,the use of PPIs may be reduce the 28 d and 90 d mortality risks.

Objective To construct a quality control information system for the entire process of neonatal breastfeeding and evaluate its application effect.Methods Based on the"evidence-based guidelines for breastfeeding of inpatient newborns"and combined with clinical practice,hazard analysis and critical control point methods were applied to construct a quality control information system for the entire breastfeeding process,which includes medical order reminder module,knowledge assessment module,breast milk outside the hospital management module,breast milk inventory reminder module,and adverse feeding record module.The pure breastfeeding rate,qualified rate of breast milk quality,and incidence of adverse events of hospitalized newborns before the application of the system(June and August 2021)and after the application of the system(June and August 2022)were compared.Results After the implementation of the system,the pure breastfeeding rate of hospitalized newboms increased from 15.12％to 28.05％,with a statistically significant difference(x2=4.170,P=0.041).The qualified rate of breast milk quality increased from 68.44％to 96.79％,with a statistically significant difference(x2=531.853,P＜0.001).The incidence of adverse events decreased from 5.81％to 0,with a statistically significant difference(P=0.026).Conclusion The quality control information system for the entire process of breastfeeding accurately identified risks and warning signs against them,standardized the management of breast milk outside the hospital,improved the qualification rate of breast milk quality and pure breastfeeding rate,reduced adverse events of breastfeeding,and ensured the effectiveness and safety of breastfeeding.

Pathological insulin resistance (IR) is closely related to gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and adverse pregnancy outcomes in women with GDM. Increasing studies have investigated the efficacy of IR indices, such as quantitative insulin sensitivity index, homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance, triglyceride-glucose index and sex hormone-binding globulin, in predicting GDM and related complications in recent years. This article reviews the research progress in the above topics.
