Ischemic stroke is the leading cause of death and disability among adults worldwide. T lymphocytes can be divided into αβT cells and γδT cells. Among them, αβT cells can be further divided into subgroups such as CD4? T cells, CD8? T cells, and natural killer (NK) cells. In CD4? T cells, T helper cells (Th) 1 and Th17 secrete pro-inflammatory cytokines, which can exacerbate ischemic brain injury; Th2 secretes anti-inflammatory factors, which can improve neurological function. Regulatory T cells (Tregs) exert neuroprotective effects through various mechanisms. CD8? T cells exacerbate ischemic brain injury by secreting cytokines and releasing granzyme, while NK cells can cause neuronal damage and blood-brain barrier damage by secreting interferon-γ. In addition, interleukin-17 secreted by γδT cells also plays a significant pro-inflammatory role in the pathological process of stroke. Therefore, a deeper understanding of the role of T lymphocytes can provide new ideas for the treatment of ischemic stroke.

Objective To find out the difference in expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein and neuron-specific enolase in hippocampi and olfactory bulb of Alzheimer's disease rats,and the relationship between olfactory and Alzheimer's disease.Methods Adult rats,the expression of GFAP and NSE in hippocampi and olfactory bulb was measured by immuhistochemical after a single intracerebroventricular injection of ?-amyloid peptide,and change of these protein in olfactory.Results Comparing the hippocampi and olfactory of model and control,the expression of GFAP in model group increased evidently,the expression of NSE descended animals.Conclusion There is significant difference in olfactory system between Alzheimer's disease model and control group rats.

OBJECTIVETo study the effects of low dose sodium selenite combined with all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) on apoptosis and differentiation of human acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) NB4 cells.

METHODSApo-ptosis was detected by translocation of phosphatidylserine (PS) with a Annexin-V kit and DNA fragmentation by agarose gel electrophoresis analysis, cell differentiation was studied by flow cytometry of CD(11b) expression and NBT reduction assay.

RESULTSFive micromol/L sodium selenite or 0.1 micromol/L ATRA alone could not induce apoptosis of NB4 cells within 48 hours. However, combination of the two drugs at the same doses as above could induce significant apoptosis in 48 hours characterized by increased PS translocation and DNA ladder. Sodium selenite at concentration of 2 micromol/L was not able to induce differentiation of NB4 cells, but when combined with 0.1 micromol/L ATRA, CD(11b) expression and NBT reduction were increased as compared with that of 0.1 micromol/L ATRA alone.

CONCLUSIONLow dose sodium selenite could enhance the effects of low dose ATRA in inducing apoptosis and differentiation of NB4 cells.
