Esophageal cancer is a prevalent malignant tumor of the digestive tract in China, and radical surgery remains the cornerstone of its comprehensive treatment. However, multifactorial challenges such as postoperative gastrointestinal tract reconstruction, traumatic stress, and tumor-related metabolic disturbances render esophageal cancer patients highly susceptible to malnutrition. Perioperative nutritional support therapy plays a crucial role in enhancing surgical safety, improving clinical outcomes, and elevating patients' quality of life by regulating metabolic homeostasis, preserving organ function, and optimizing the immune microenvironment. This article reviews the mechanisms underlying malnutrition in esophageal cancer, methods for nutritional status assessment, and precision intervention pathways based on multi-omics evaluations. The aim is to strengthen clinicians' awareness of standardized perioperative nutritional management for esophageal cancer patients and promote its clinical implementation, thereby facilitating postoperative recovery and improving long-term quality of life.

Objective:To investigate the correlations and regression models among adenoid-nasopharynx measurement indices (the linear ratio A/N, the two-dimensional area ratio 2D_A/N, and the three-dimensional volume ratio 3D_A/N), to evaluate the feasibility of predicting three-dimensional parameters from two-dimensional measurements. Methods:This cross-sectional study analysed 4 307 CBCT scans and lateral nasopharyngeal radiographs from 4-12-year-old children (July 2023-January 2025). Children with acute infection, major systemic disease, craniofacial anomalies, prior maxillofacial surgery, poor-quality images, or no consent were excluded. 3D_A/N was defined as adenoid volume/(adenoid+airway volume); 2D_A/N as adenoid area/total area; and linear A/N as adenoid thickness/nasopharyngeal thickness. Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression were used to quantify 2D-to-3D agreement, and independent-sample t-tests were employed to compare age, sex and seasonal subgroups. Results:(1) Significant sex-related differences in adenoid hypertrophy were detected at ages 5, 8, 9 and 11 years. In the 5-year-old group, females had significantly higher 3D_A/N and 2D_A/N values than males (3D_A/N: 0.76±0.10 vs. 0.74±0.10, t=-1.99, P=0.047; 2D_A/N: 0.66±0.10 vs. 0.64±0.09, t=-2.71, P=0.007). In the 8-year-old group, males exhibited significantly higher A/N and 3D_A/N values than females (A/N: 0.64±0.06 vs. 0.63±0.06, t=4.49, P<0.001; 3D_A/N: 0.66±0.12 vs. 0.64±0.12, t=2.00, P=0.046). In the 9-year-old group, males showed significantly higher 3D_A/N values than females (0.65±0.11 vs. 0.63±0.12, t=2.46, P=0.014). In the 11-year-old group, males had significantly higher A/N values than females (0.62±0.06 vs. 0.59±0.05, t=4.79, P<0.001). (2) The linear A/N ratio correlated moderately with 3D_A/N ( r=0.82), whereas, 2D_A/N showed an excellent correlation ( r=0.97); multiple regression confirmed 2D_A/N as the principal predictor of 3D_A/N. (3) Seasonal analysis revealed markedly greater adenoid hypertrophy in winter than in summer for children aged 4-9 years, while, no seasonal difference was found in the 10-12 year group; overall, winter hypertrophy was most pronounced in younger children. Conclusion:2D_A/N demonstrates a marked advantage in predicting 3D_A/N. When combined with A/N and age factors, it can effectively model changes in the 3D volume ratio of the adenoid, underscoring the clinical value of lateral cephalometric measurements for evaluating adenoid hypertrophy in children. Moreover, adenoid hypertrophy is influenced by age, sex and seasonal factors.

Ménière's disease(MD)and vestibular migraine(VM)are two common episodic vertigo disor-ders.Patients with VM often exhibit auditory and vestibular symptoms similar to those of MD.Patients with MD are also prone to migraine features such as headache, photophobia, and a positive family history of migraine.There-fore,differentiating MD from VM is challenging, especially in the early stages of the disease.Although the two dis-eases overlap in many ways, some core features in terms of demographic characteristics, clinical symptoms, and la-boratory tests can be used to identify them. However,a highly specific test or biological marker to distinguish the two is not available.Physicians may combine various features such as symptoms, signs, and tests to differentiate MD and VM.

Objective:To explore the mediating role of coping style and fear of disease progression between health literacy and self-management in postoperative chemotherapy patients with colorectal cancer. It provided a theoretical basis for improving the self-management ability of postoperative chemotherapy patients with colorectal cancer. Methods:Convenience sampling method was used to select postoperative chemotherapy patients with colorectal cancer admitted to the Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from October 2023 to May 2024, and a cross-sectional survey was conducted using Health Literacy Management Scale, Medical Coping Modes Scale, Fear of Progression Questionnaire-Short Form, and Cancer Patient Self-Management Assessment Scale. Results:A total of 229 questionnaires were distributed, of which 220 were returned as valid questionnaires, including 142 males and 78 females, aged (60.05 ± 10.14) years. The total health literacy score was (85.30 ± 9.45) points and self-management score was (150.36 ± 14.10) points among patients undergoing postoperative chemotherapy for colorectal cancer. Self-management was positively correlated with health literacy and facing ( r=0.576, 0.525, both P<0.01), while negatively correlated with avoidance, yielding, and fear of disease progression ( r=-0.660, -0.616, -0.566, all P<0.01). The mediation model showed that facing coping style and fear of disease progression had a chained mediation effect of 0.050 between health literacy and self-management, accounting for 8.36% of the total effect. Conclusions:Self-management in patients with postoperative chemotherapy for colorectal cancer was moderately low. The chain mediating role of coping style and fear of disease progression between health literacy and self-management in postoperative chemotherapy patients with colorectal cancer was established. Nursing staff should strengthen health education for postoperative chemotherapy patients with colorectal cancer, guide patients to face the disease positively, reduce fear, and promote patient self-management.

Objective:To construct Nomogram prediction model for pulmonary infection in patients after aortic dissection surgery, so as to provide reference for early screening of high-risk groups and carrying out preventive nursing measures. Methods:This was a retrospective case-control study. The case data of patients after aortic dissection surgery in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from January 2020 to October 2023 were selected by convenient sampling method and divided into pulmonary infection group and non-pulmonary infection group according to whether pulmonary infection occurred within one week after surgery. The risk factors of pulmonary infection after aortic dissection surgery were analyzed by Logistic regression and the Nomogram prediction model was constructed by R4.3.3.The model was evaluated by area under the receiver operating characteristic curve, calibration curve and decision curve analysis. Results:A total of 324 patients with aortic dissection were collected, and the incidence of postoperative pulmonary infection was 26.9%(87/324). There were 87 cases in pulmonary infection group, including 65 males and 22 females, with a median age of 58.0 years. There were 237 cases in non-pulmonary infection group, including 180 males and 57 females, with a median age of 60.0 years. Finally, operation time ( OR=1.015, 95% CI 1.007-1.022), intraoperative blood transfusion ( OR=1.001, 95% CI 1.000-1.022), mechanical ventilation time ( OR=7.624, 95% CI 2.679-21.692), postoperative invasive operation ( OR=6.310, 95% CI 1.545-25.778) and postoperative renal insufficiency ( OR=6.723, 95% CI 1.219-37.063) were independent risk factors for pulmonary infection after aortic dissection surgery. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of the model was 0.978, sensitivity of 93.7%, and specificity of 90.8%. The calibration curve showed good consistency, and the decision curve analysis curve showed good net benefit. Conclusions:Operation time, intraoperative blood transfusion, mechanical ventilation time, postoperative invasive operation and postoperative renal insufficiency are high-risk factors of pulmonary infection after aortic dissection surgery and the constructed predictive model has predictive value.

The advancement of surgical techniques enables effective treatment for many patients with oral and maxillofacial tumors.How-ever,post-surgery problems such as chewing, swallowing and speech difficulty may arise due to the defects in speech organs and inade-quate compensatory function of tissue flap repair.Speech disorders,in particular, isolate patients by making it difficult for them to com-municate with others, not only impact their quality of life but also potentially lead to psychological problems and social interaction disor-ders.Although the decline in life quality and other related issues caused by speech dysfunction due to surgery and radiotherapy or chemo-therapy have been widely recognized, there is currently no standardized and universally applicable assessment method and standardized re-habilitation treatment management guideline or consensus for speech disorders following oral and maxillofacial tumor surgery at home and abroad.Based on previous clinical practice, combined with the characteristics of speech disorders in patients after oral and maxillofacial tumor surgery, the clinical experience of the experts in maxillofacial tumor surgery and rehabilitation and the relevant domestic and foreign literature, relevant experts organized discussions and modifications, reach a consensus on core content such as the assessment of speech disorders and the implementation plan for early rehabilitation treatment management, providing a reference for clinical practice,in order to improve patients'speech-related life quality and enhance the assessment and rehabilitation treatment techniques for speech disorders after oral and maxillofacial tumor surgery.
