Objective: To analyze the change trends in the body shape indicators and proportions of students in Harbin from 2010 to 2024, and to investigate ergonomic compatibility of functional dimensions of school desks and chairs with current student shape indicators, so as to provide a reference for revising furniture standards of desks and chairs. Methods: Between September and November of both 2010 and 2024, a combination of convenience sampling and stratified cluster random sampling was conducted across three districts in Harbin, yielding samples of 6 590 and 6 252 students, respectively. Anthropometric shape indicators cluding height, sitting height, crus length, and thigh length-and their proportional changes were compared over the 15-year period. The 2024 data were compared with current standard functional dimensions of school furniture. The statistical analysis incorporated t-test and Mann-Whitney U- test. Results: From 2010 to 2024, average height increased by 1.8 cm for boys and 1.5 cm for girls; sitting height increased by 1.5 cm for both genders; crus length increased by 0.3 cm for boys and 0.4 cm for girls; and thigh length increased by 0.5 cm for both genders. The ratios of sitting height to height, and sitting height to leg length increased by less than 0.1 . The difference between desk chair height and 1/3 sitting height ranged from 0.4-0.8 cm. Among students matched with size 0 desks and chairs, 22.0% had a desk to chair height difference less than 0, indicating that the desk to chair height difference might be insufficient for taller students. The differences between seat height and fibular height ranged from -1.4 to 1.1 cm; and the differences between seat depth and buttock popliteal length ranged from -9.8 to 3.4 cm. Among obese students, the differences between seat width and 1/2 hip circumference ranged from -20.5 to -8.7 cm, while it ranged from -12.2 to -3.8 cm among non obese students. Conclusion Current furniture standards basically satisfy hygienic requirements; however, in the case of exceptionally tall and obese students, ergonomic accommodations such as adaptive seating allocation or personalized adjustments are recommended to meet hygienic requirements.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the clinical efficacy of conventional transforaminal endoscopic technique and I See transforaminal endoscopic technique in the treatment of recurrent L₅S₁ lumbar disc herniation with high iliac crest. METHODS: A total of 36 patients with recurrent L5S1 lumbar disc herniation with high iliac crest after posterior small-incision discectomy, admitted from May 2016 to May 2023, were selected. They were divided into the conventional transforaminal endoscopy group and the I See transforaminal endoscopy group according to the different transforaminal endoscopic techniques adopted, and all patients in both groups underwent lateral transforaminal spinal canal decompression and discectomy. There were 18 patients in the conventional transforaminal endoscopy group, including 11 males and 7 females, with an age of (52.24±6.68) years;the I See transforaminal endoscopy group also had 18 patients, including 12 males and 6 females, with an age of (50.75±7.79) years. The perioperative indicators (operation time, number of intraoperative radiographs, and length of hospital stay) were compared between two groups. The clinical efficacy was evaluated using the visual analogue scale(VAS) for pain, the Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA) low back pain score, and the modified MacNab criteria before and after surgery. RESULTS: All patients achieved gradeⅠincision healing, with no infection cases. The operation time of the I See group was (64.25±16.67) minutes, which was significantly shorter than that of the conventional transforaminal endoscopy group (89.11±17.24) minutes, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The number of intraoperative radiographs in the I See group was (5.20±2.29) times, which was significantly less than that in the conventional transforaminal endoscopy group(19.16±3.68) times, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The VAS and total JOA scores of both groups at the 3rd day, the 3rd month after surgery, and the last follow-up were significantly lower than those before surgery, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05);however, there were no statistically significant differences in VAS and total JOA scores between two groups at the 3rd day, the 3rd month after surgery, and the last follow-up (P>0.05). According to the modified MacNab criteria for efficacy evaluation:in the conventional transforaminal endoscopy group, 14 cases were excellent and 4 cases were good;in the I See transforaminal endoscopy group, 15 cases were excellent and 3 cases were good;there was no statistically significant difference in efficacy between two groups(Z=0.177, P=0.674). CONCLUSION Both transforaminal endoscopic techniques have good clinical effects in the treatment of recurrent L₅S₁ lumbar disc herniation with high iliac crest, resulting in significant improvement of postoperative symptoms, and they are safe, reliable, and minimally invasive surgical methods. Compared with the conventional transforaminal endoscopy, the I See transforaminal endoscopic technique has shorter operation time and fewer intraoperative radiographs, so it is generally the first choice.

PURPOSE: Although there are significant differences between China and the United States (US) in trauma medical services, there has been no direct comparative research on the epidemiological data of trauma centers between the 2 countries. This study aims to fill this research gap by directly comparing trauma centers in China and the US, providing valuable data and insights for the development of trauma centers in both countries, promoting academic exchange and cooperation internationally, and enhancing the level of global trauma medical care. METHODS: This is a multicenter retrospective descriptive study. Data were collected for trauma patients with an injury severity score ≥16 treated from September 2013 to September 2019 at 2 hospital trauma centers in these 2 countries. Detailed clinical data (including injury mechanism, age, injury site, injury severity score, pre-hospital transport time, whether blood transfusion was performed, whether resuscitative thoracotomy was conducted, hospital and intensive care unit stay duration, the number of organ donor patients, mortality rates, and costs) were meticulously compiled and retrospectively analyzed to identify differences between the 2 trauma centers. The comparison was conducted using SPSS 23 software. Continuous variables are reported as median (Q₁, Q₃), and Mann Whitney U test is used to compare the median of continuous variables. Use clinically relevant critical points to classify continuous variables, with categorical variables represented as n (%), and comparisons were made between the 2 groups using the χ² test or Fisher's exact test. Statistical significance was defined as a 2-sided p < 0.05. RESULTS: These results point to significant differences in trauma center capacity, pre-hospital transport times, treatment procedures, hospital stay duration, mortality rates, and costs between the 2 centers. The volume of patients in trauma centers is less in China (2465 vs. 5288). Pre-hospital transport time was notably longer in China (180 min vs. 14 min), and the rate of emergency blood transfusions was lower in China (18.4% vs. 50.6%), Emergency thoracotomy was not performed in China but was conducted in 9.8% of cases in the US. Hospitalization costs were significantly lower in China than in the US ($5847 vs. $75,671). CONCLUSION There are clear differences in trauma center capacity (number of patients treated), pre-hospital transport time, age distribution of injured patients, injury mechanisms, injury sites, whether emergency thoracotomy is performed, hospital costs, and length of stay between the 2 trauma centers in China and America. Understanding these differences can help us further recognize the characteristics of Eastern and Western trauma patients.

Radiochemotherapy-induced oral mucositis (OM) is a common oral complication in patients with tumors following head and neck radiotherapy or chemotherapy. Erosion and ulcers are the main features of OM that seriously affect the quality of life of patients and even the progress of tumor treatment. To date, differences in clinical prevention and treatment plans for OM have been noted among doctors of various specialties, which has increased the uncertainty of treatment effects. On the basis of current research evidence, this expert consensus outlines risk factors, clinical manifestations, clinical grading, ancillary examinations, diagnostic basis, prevention and treatment strategies and efficacy indicators for OM. In addition to strategies such as basic oral care, anti-inflammatory and analgesic agents, anti-infective agents, pro-healing agents, and photobiotherapy recommended in previous guidelines, we also emphasize the role of traditional Chinese medicine in OM prevention and treatment. This expert consensus aims to provide references and guidance for dental physicians and oncologists in formulating strategies for OM prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, standardizing clinical practice, reducing OM occurrence, promoting healing, and improving the quality of life of patients.

Functional dyspepsia (FD), characterized by persistent or recurrent dyspeptic symptoms without identifiable organic, systemic or metabolic causes, is an increasingly recognized global health issue. The objective of this guideline is to equip clinicians and nursing professionals with evidence-based strategies for the management and treatment of adult patients with FD using traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). The Guideline Development Group consulted existing TCM consensus documents on FD and convened a panel of 35 clinicians to generate initial clinical queries. To address these queries, a systematic literature search was conducted across PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), VIP Database, China Biology Medicine (SinoMed) Database, Wanfang Database, Traditional Medicine Research Data Expanded (TMRDE), and the Traditional Chinese Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System (TCMLARS). The evidence from the literature was critically appraised using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) approach. The strength of the recommendations was ascertained through a consensus-building process involving TCM and allopathic medicine experts, methodologists, pharmacologists, nursing specialists, and health economists, leveraging their collective expertise and empirical knowledge. The guideline comprises a total of 43 evidence-informed recommendations that span a range of clinical aspects, including the pathogenesis according to TCM, diagnostic approaches, therapeutic interventions, efficacy assessments, and prognostic considerations. Sepsis is a potentially fatal condition characterized by the failure of one or more organs due to a disordered host response to infection. The development of sepsis is closely linked to immune dysfunction. As a result, immunotherapy has gained traction as a promising approach to sepsis treatment, as it holds the potential to reverse immunosuppression and restore immune balance, thereby improving the prognosis of septic patients. However, due to the highly heterogeneous nature of sepsis, it is crucial to carefully select the appropriate patient population for immunotherapy. This review summarizes the current and evolved treatments for sepsis-induced immunosuppression to enhance clinicians' understanding and practical application of immunotherapy in the management of sepsis.

Objective To investigate the influencing factors of Mismatch ratio in computed tomography perfusion(CTP)and dif-fusion weighted imaging(DWI)to assess the lesion outcome after treatment in patients with acute ischemic stroke(AIS).Methods Whether there were any differences in clinical and imaging data of AIS patients were analyzed retrospectively between the Mismatch ratio＞1.2 group and the Mismatch ratio≤1.2 group,and between the hemorrhagic transformation group and the non-hemorrhagic transformation group.Results The age of onset and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)score of AIS patients in the group with Mismatch ratio＞1.2 were greater than those in the group with Mismatch ratio≤1.2.The Mismatch ratio＞1.2 group had lower incidence of hyperlipidemia,new infarct foci,and higher hypercoagulability,cerebral hemorrhage,as well as large cerebral infarction.The NIHSS score was higher in the hemorrhagic transformation group than the non-hemorrhagic transformation group,and the incidence of large cerebral infarction and digital subtraction angiography(DSA)thrombectomy was higher in the former than in the latter.Multifactorial logistic analysis showed that age,NIHSS score,and hyperlipidemia were independent risk factors for AIS patients with Mismatch ratio＞1.2 and large cerebral infarction was an independent risk factor for hemorrhagic transformation.Conclusion The Mismatch ratio in CTP is correlated with age,NIHSS score,and hyperlipidemia in patients with AIS and large cerebral infarction is correlated with hemorrhagic transformation.

Objective To systematically evaluate the germplasm resources of Polygonatum odoratum(Mill.)Druce from the main producing areas in China.Methods A total of 35 tubers of Polygonatum odoratum from the main producing areas of China were collected to detect the water content,and the contents of nutrients including crude ash and crude fat,etc.and two medicinal components(polysaccharides and total flavonoids),and then the germplasm resources of Polygonatum odoratum were comprehensively evaluated by the coefficient of variation,correlation analysis and cluster analysis.Results In different Polygonatum odoratum tuber resources,the water content was 64.43%-83.78%,crude ash content was 1.03%-6.43%,lignin content was 2.83%-18.38%,cellulose content was 1.88%-4.73%,crude fat content was 2.85%-5.16%,crude protein content was 47.12-184.20 g/kg,the contents of polysaccharide and total flavonoids were 33.85-155.79 mg/g and 0.49-1.78 mg/g,respectively.Among them,the coefficients of variation for polysaccharide,crude ash,lignin,crude protein and total flavonoids were 0.45,0.42,0.38,0.31 and 0.30,respectively,showing large variations.There was a significant positive correlation between water content and contents of polysaccharide as well as various ingredient indexes in Polygonatum odoratum.The Polygonatum odoratum germplasm from different producing areas were mainly clustered into two types as follows:the first type was mainly from Guangdong and Hunan producing areas,the total flavonoids content being commonly higher,and the polysaccharide content of Polygonatum odoratum belongs to the second type in other producing areas was commonly higher.Four breeding materials with high content of medicinal ingredients were screened out by combining above indexes.Conclusion The high-quality germplasm was screened out through analyzing main nutrients and medicinal ingredients of Polygonatum odoratum tubers from different producing areas,contributing to providing data and material support for the evaluation of Polygonatum odoratum germplasm resources and strain breeding.

Objective To investigate the characteristics of mismatch negativity(MMN)in patients with total deafness of sudden hearing loss with different prognosis,and to assess whether MMN is associated with the progno-sis of sudden hearing loss patients.Methods Fifty-one cases of sudden hearing loss with unilateral total deafness were selected for pure tone audiometry(PTA)and auditory MMN examination before treatment,and 26 subjects with mornal hearing were included as the normal group.After routine treatment for 10 days according to the guide-lines for sudden hearing loss,PT A examination was performed to determine their recovery status,and they were di-vided into ineffective group and effective group according to prognosis.The characteristics of MMN latency and am-plitude in the effective group and the ineffective group were observed and compared with the normal control group.Results The MMN waveform was elicited normally in 51 patients with sudden hearing loss and 26 cases in the nor-mal group,of which 29 were in effective group and 22 were in ineffective group.There were significant statistical differences in MMN latency between the patients group and the normal group(P＜0.05).Anova showed no signifi-cant difference in MMN latency between the invalid group and the effective group(P＞0.05),and there was no sig-nificant difference in amplitude among the three groups(P＞0.05).Conclusion The MMN latency of sudden hear-ing loss patients was signifanty shortened.There were no differences in MMN latency and amplitude between the in-effective group and the effective group.

BACKGROUND:In consideration of the food safety and ecological safety of transgenic plants,the retention of marker genes is the primary safety issue affecting transgenic plants. OBJECTIVE:Based on the principle of immune caries prevention,our research team successfully constructed the plant anti-caries vaccine fusion gene expression vector pCAMBIA-E8-APB-DOCK8 for these two caries causing virulence factors surface protein and glucosyltransferase,which provides a basis for the research and development of transgenic plant vaccine. METHODS:In this study,the selective marker genes Km and GUS in the plant caries vaccine fusion gene expression vector pCAMBIA-E8-APB-DOCK8 were removed by DNA recombination technology through a series of steps such as DNA fragment separation,connection,transformation,clone detection,and sequencing. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The efficiency of marker gene removal was 99%.This study has laid a good experimental foundation for the safe production of transgenic plant vaccine against dental caries,and also provided ideas for the construction of other plant vaccine vectors.
