Objective: To investigate the association between injury prevention knowledge level and injury occurrence among primary and secondary school students in Dongguan, so as to provide scientific basis for formulating targeted and evidence based intervention strategies for child injury. Methods: From March to April 2024, stratified cluster random sampling method was applied to select 5 988 primary and secondary school students in grades 4-9 for a survey. The Revised Questionnaire for the 2016-2020 Child Injury Prevention Project (senior version) was used to collect demographic characteristics, family and caregiver information, injury event characteristics, and knowledge, attitude, and practice related to injury prevention. Mann-Whitney U test was used for inter group comparison. Propensity score matching (PSM) was applied to balance confounders, and conditional Logistic regression was used to analyze the association between injury prevention knowledge score and injury occurrence among primary and secondary school students, and a restricted cubic spline (RCS) model was employed to test the dose response relationship. Furthermore, interaction terms were introduced to examine the moderating effects of sex, grade level, and caregiver’s educational level. Results: The overall incidence of injuries among primary and secondary school students was 18.15%. The knowledge score of injury prevention was significantly lower in the injury group [20.0(18.0,22.0)] than in the non injury group [21.0(19.0,22.0)] ( Z = 8.24 , P <0.01). After PSM, 1 068 pairs were successfully matched, and the standardized mean difference for all covariates was <0.1. An increase in injury prevention awareness scores was associated with a reduced risk of injury occurrence among primary and secondary school students ( OR =0.92, P <0.05). The RCS analysis showed an approximately linear negative association between injury prevention knowledge score and injury risk among primary and secondary school students ( P non linear =0.72), with a decreased injury risk when score exceeded 24 ( OR = 0.69, P <0.05). Subgroup analyses indicated that the negative correlation between cognitive level and the risk of injury was common in different gender, grade and caregivers educational level groups ( OR =0.87- 0.93 , all P <0.05). Sensitivity analyses yielded results consistent with the primary analysis. Conclusions The incidence of injuries among primary and secondary school students in Dongguan City is relatively high. Injury prevention knowledge level is negatively associated with injury occurrence risk, exhibiting an approximately linear dose response relationship.

Methods GO nanoparticles prepared using a probe sonicator were supended in deionized H2O or PBS, and particle size and surface charge of the nanoparticles were measured with dynamic light scattering (DLS). Different concentrations (0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 mg/mL) of GO suspension or PBS were injected at multiple sites in the gastrocnemius muscle (GN) of C57BL/6 mice, and inflammatory response and immune cell infiltrations were detected with HE and immunofluorescence staining. We also examined the effects of GO nanoparticles on human red blood cell (RBC) morphology, hemolysis and blood coagulation using scanning electron microscope (SEM), spectrophotometry, and thromboelastography (TEG). Results GO nanoparticles suspended in PBS exhibited better colloidal dispersity, stability and surface charge effects than those in deionized H2O. In mouse GNs, injection of GO suspensions dose- and time-dependently resulted in sustained muscular inflammation and myofiber degeneration at the injection sites, which lasted till 8 weeks after the injection; immunofluorescence staining revealed obvious infiltration of monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells and CD4+T cells around the injection sites in mouse GNs. In human RBCs, incubation with GO suspensions at 0.2, 2.0 and 20 mg/mL, but not at 0.002 or 0.02 mg/mL, caused significant alterations of cell morphology and hemolysis. TEG analysis showed significant abnormalities of blood coagulation parameters following treatment with high concentrations of GO. Conclusion GO nanoparticles can induce sustained inflammatory and immunological responses in mouse GNs and cause RBC hemolysis and blood coagulation impairment, suggesting its muscular toxicity and hematotoxicity at high concentrations.

A pair of father-son Crohn′s disease (CD) patients with NOD-like receptors family pyrin domain containing 12 ( NLRP12) gene c.1382 mutation was reported. Through the relevant literature review, we summarize the other CD patients complicated with NLRP12 genetic variation at home and abroad and the mechanism of NLRP12 in inflammatory bowel disease. This study aims to provide reference for the subsequent exploration of individulized treatment.

Diabetes mellitus(DM)stands as a chronic metabolic ailment predominantly characterized by elevated blood glucose lev-els,stemming from either a resistance to insulin or aberrations in insulin secretion.The ensuing persistent hyperglycemia,a direct con-sequence of pancreatic β-cell devastation,acts as a catalyst for a myriad of complications,inclusive of extensive neuropathies.The dis-ease has substantial prevalence and mortality rates,underscoring the gravity of its impact on public health.Dental pulp stem cells(DPSCs)are readily obtainable,and they exhibit a profound capacity for self-renewal,multi-lineage differentiation,and vigorous pro-liferation.Remarkably,DPSCs can differentiate into pancreatic β-cells,subsequently participate in insulin secretion and play a pivotal role in immune modulation.This has achieved notable advancements in the therapeutic domain,particularly in the treatment of chronic diseases.Furthermore,DPSCs harbor the potential to mitigate symptoms in patients afflicted with type 1 diabetes.They navigate this therapeutic pathway through mechanisms that involve suppressing autoimmunity,modulating inflammatory responses,and counteracting oxidative stress.This article meticulously reviews the biological characteristics inherent to DPSCs and explores their multifaceted thera-peutic potential in addressing DM and its associated complications.Through this endeavor,the article aims to contribute to the refine-ment and enhancement of DM management strategies.

【Objective】 To evaluate the safety and effectiveness of Perioperative Transfusion Trigger Score (POTTS) in guiding surgical patients blood transfusion intraoperatively and postoperatively. 【Methods】 A total of 900 patients(perioperative Hb 60~100 g/L) from December 2017 to March 2021 were collected, including 251 males and 649 females, with ASA grading Ⅰ~Ⅳ, and randomly divided into experimental group and controls. In the experimental group, the allogeneic RBC transfusion trigger(Hb threshold) and transfusion units in anemia patients was determined by POTTS. While those in the controls were decided by physicians according to current guidelines concerning transfusion. The proportion and units of allogeneic RBC transfusion, the incidence of postoperative complications, the mortality of hospitalization and discharge for 4 weeks, Hb value, healing of surgical incision, ICU admission rate and ICU length of stay, length of hospitalization, etc were recorded. 【Results】 The proportion of allogeneic RBC transfusion in the experimental group(35.3%)were less than the controls(42.2%)(P<0.05). The units of allogeneic RBC transfused, incidence of postoperative complications and mortality in hospital and 4 weeks after surgery, healing of surgical incision (grade A/ grade B/ grade C), the Hb level 24 h after surgery and at discharge, the ICU admission rate and ICU length of stay, length of hospitalization were not significantly different between the groups. 【Conclusion】 The peri-operative allogeneic red blood cells transfusion guided by POTTS can reduce the proportion of allogeneic RBC transfusion, and is safe and effective.

Objective To evaluate the effect of deferoxamine on ventilator-associated lung injury in rats.Methods Twenty-four healthy male Sprague-Dawley rats,aged 6-8 weeks,weighing 250-300 g,were divided into 3 groups (n =8 each) using a random number table method:control group (group C),ventilator-associated lung injury group (group VALI),and ventilator-associated lung injury plus deferoxamine group (VALI+DFO group).Normal saline 2 ml was intraperitoneally injected in C and VALI groups,and deferoxamine 200 mg/kg (dissolved in 2 ml normal saline) was intraperitoneally injected in group VALI+DFO.The animals were connected to a small animal ventilator 15 min later and mechanically ventilated in volume-controlled mode,with tidal volume 40 ml/kg,respiratory rate 40-60 breaths/min,inspiratory/expiratory ratio 1 ∶ 1,and inspired oxygen fraction ratio 1.0.The rats were sacrificed after the end of mechanical ventilation,and the left lung tissues were removed for examination of the pathological changes (with a light microscope) which were scored and for determination of wet/dry weight ratio (W/D ratio).The right lung was lavaged,and lavage fluid was collected to prepare macrophage suspension,and the alveolar macrophage and mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels were determined using flow cytometry.Results Compared with group C,the pathological score,W/D ratio of lung tissues,and alveolar macrophage and mitochondrial ROS levels were significantly increased in group VALI,and the pathological score was significantly increased in group VALI (P＜0.05).Compared with group VALI,the pathological score,W/D ratio of lung tissues,and alveolar macrophage and mitochondrial ROS levels were significantly decreased in group VALI and DFO (P＜0.05).Conclusion Deferoxamine can reduce ventilator-associated lung injury,and the mechanism may be related to inhibiting oxidative stress in rats.

Objective To summarize the key nursing points in patients with monochorionic twins undergoing selective feticide with bipolar electrocoagulation.Methods Selective feticide with bipolar electrocoagulation were performed in 68 monochorionic twins with one twin anomaly.And the perioperative care was performed on the patients.Results Operations were accomplished successfully in 68 cases.No complications,such as infections,premature rupture of membrane and so on,were found in all cases seven days after operation.Conclusions The nursing key points include preoperative psychological nursing by interpretation of the operations,monitoring fetal heart sounds during operations,and close observation of body temperature,uterine contractions and fetal heart rate in pregnant women after operations.Careful perioperative nursing is helpful for improvement of operative success and to ensure normal development of fetus.

Objective To evaluate the changes in the expression of small intestinal thioredoxin 2 (Trx2) during different periods after orthotopic liver autotransplantation (OLAT) in rats.Methods Forty Sprague-Dawley rats,aged 8-10 weeks,weighing 210-260 g,were randomly divided into 2 groups using a random number table:sham operation group (group S,n =8) and OLAT group (n =32).Intestinal tissues were removed at 4,8,16 and 24 h after OLAT for microscopic examination and for determination of the levels of superoxide anion (O2--),hydrogen peroxide (H2 O2),glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px),reduced glutathione (GSH) and Trx2.Intestinal damage was assessed and scored according to Chiu.Results Compared with S group,the Chiu's score and O2--activity at 4,8 and 16 h after OLAT and H2O2 content at 4 and 8 h after OLAT were significantly increased,and the levels of GSH-Px and GSH and expression of Trx2 at 4 and 8 h after OLAT were decreased in OLAT group (P ＜ 0.05).Chiu' s score at 4,16 and 24 h after OLAT and H2O2 content at 16 and 24 h after OLAT were significantly lower than those at 8 h in OLAT group (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion The rats undergo decreased antioxidant capacity in the early phase and recovery in the late phase mediated by small intestinal Trx2 after OLAT.
