Contents and Experiences of National Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinical Research Base Construction and Operation Mode

In order to encourage the development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the state has set up a spe-cial project and funds to construct the National TCM Clinical Research Base. The goal is to establish a regular line with the development of TCM clinical research and innovation platform gradually. Ensuring the project proceeds suc-cessfully, we have taken a series of initiatives that include the personnel training, the establishment of the network center, medical diagnostic centre, imaging centre, ethical platform and the laboratory. Also, we have explored the operation mode which matches the construction. During the process of construction, we have found that four elements are particularly important for the base development, which are top-level design, leadershipˊs attention, financial sup-port, solidarity and cooperation.

Intelligent Integration and Application of Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinical Medical Research Information-sharing Systems

This article was aimed to explore the intelligent integration of database as the core-data and application of data mining as the core of knowledge discovery. On the basis of the existed set of information-sharing platform, this article elaborated from aspects of formatting HER intelligent integration, data integration and multi-method combined data mining intelligent integration. With the demonstration study on syndrome distribution and syndrome diagnostic criteria of acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD), data integration and intelligence optimization of Crystal Reports and complex networks were applied to dig out the correlation between syndromes and symptoms, disease-syndromes-herb association analysis. Analysis mentioned above showed that based on the shared system, and in accordance to research programs, intelligent integration of data and data mining methods, the improvement of the sharing platform application is proved feasible.

Software Design and Development of Acupoint Selection and Treatment based on Diseases

Along with the development of the modernization of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the acupunc-ture related software has also been developed. This article was aimed to combine traditional acupuncture therapy with the modern information technology in order to design software which is practical for clinical guidance in the acupoint selection and treatment according to diseases. This software provides a convenient and effective self-acupuncture treatment program for the public. It makes TCM acupuncture popular in the public and further pro-motes the development of TCM .

Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial on Efficacy of Chinese Medicine Combined with Electric Acupuncture in the Treatment of Sudden Deafness

This study was aimed to explore the clinical efficacy and differences in hemorheological parameters in sudden deafness treated with Chinese medicine combined with electric acupuncture and western medicine . Patients were selected according to the diagnostic criteria of sudden deafness. Patients were randomly divided into the Chinese medicine combined with electric acupuncture group ( 35 cases ) and the western medicine group (30 cases). In the treatment group, Tongqiao Huoxue Decoction was orally administrated in combination with electric acupuncture on Jiaj i points on the neck region . In the western medicine group , alprostadil and prednisone were used . For both groups , 10 days were one treatment course . The results showed that after two treatment courses , the hearing improvement of two groups was compared . The total efficiency of Chinese medicine combined with electric acupuncture group was 91 . 4%. And the total efficiency of the western medicine group was 66 . 7%. There were significant differences between two groups ( P < 0 . 05 ) . The treatment efficiency of tinnitus between two groups was also compared . The total efficiency of Chinese medicine combined with electric acupuncture group was 91 . 2%. And the total efficiency of the western medicine group was 78 . 6%. There was no significant difference between two groups . The comparison of dizziness relieving effect between two groups showed that the total efficiency of Chinese medicine combined with electric acupuncture group was 94 . 1%; and the total efficiency of the western medicine group was 73 . 3%. There was no significant difference between two groups . The hemorheological parameters were also improved . In the Chinese medicine combined with electric acupuncture group , indexes such as blood viscosity ratio , plasma viscosity ratio , erythro-cyte electrophoresis time and hematocrit were all improved obviously compared to western medicine group . There was significant difference between two groups ( P < 0 . 05 ) . It was concluded that in the improvement of clinical symptoms of sudden deafness, physical signs and hemorheology, Chinese medicine combined with elec-tric acupuncture receives better effects compared to western medicine .

Analysis on Medication Experiences of Professor Sun Zixue in the Treatment of Asthenospermia

This study was aimed to analyze medication experiences of Professor Sun Zixue in the treatment of asthenospermia. A total of 286 asthenospermia cases treated by Prof. Sun Zixue were collected. Frequency and index clustering analysis method were used in the processing of patient data. The results showed that the using frequency of 37 types of drugs is more than 10%. And the clustering analysis classified drugs into seven cat-egories , which were the kidney essence tonification , kidney-yang tonification , qi tonification , blood nourish-ment , heat-toxin reducing , heat-dampness reducing , blood-activation and collateral-regulation. It was conclud-ed that based on Prof. Sunˊs syndrome differentiation , the treatment of asthenospermia can be from the combi-nation of kidney tonification , qi tonification and blood nourishment , or the combination of heat-dampness re-ducing and blood-activation and stasis-removing , or the combination of kidney tonification and collateral-regu-lation. The commonly used drugs are 38 types from seven categories .

Metrology Research of Wrist-Ankle Needle Method in Clinical Application

This study was aimed to analyze documents of wrist-ankle needle method in clinical application by metrology from 2002 to 2011 . The analysis showed that the wrist-ankle needle method was widely used in more than 50 kinds of diseases of locomotor system disease , nervous system disease , surgical disease , urogeni-tal system disease, integumentary system, and etc. There is still a high clinical value for further research.

Therapeutic Effect Assessment Indexes of Randomized Controlled Trials on Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Differentiation and Treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease：A Systematic Review

This study was aimed to review of the selection and use of the therapeutic effect assessment indexes of randomized controlled trials ( RCTs ) on traditional Chinese medicine ( TCM ) syndrome differentiation and treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ( COPD ) based on clinical efficacy . Published studies were searched in the CBM , CNKI , VIP , Wanfang database , Cochrane Library , PubMed and Embase to identity all RCTS on TCM treatment of COPD . Two researchers selected studies and extracted data independently using a designed extraction form . The Cochrane collaboration software RevMan 5 . 1 was used for meta-analysis . The re-sults showed that a total of 40 RCTs were included . Meta-analyses showed that TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment of COPD can improve the pulmonary function and life quality , improve the clinical effect and TCM syndrome effect , reduce the number of acute exacerbation of COPD and improve clinical symptoms . Some therapeutic effect assessment indexes , such as pulmonary function , life quality , clinical comprehensive effect , the number of acute exacerbation of COPD, clinical symptoms and signs, syndrome effect and the integral of syndrome were used more frequent . Other indexes such as 6-min walk distance , BODE Index and health eco-nomic evaluation were used less frequently . It was concluded that TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment of COPD had certain therapeutic efficacy. A large number of strictly-designed, multicenter, high-quality RCTs are required because of the low quality of the included studies. The selection of therapeutic effect assessment indexes is still not standardized . The therapeutic effect assessment indexes should be selected based on differ-ent purposes of clinical studies with the clinical characteristics of TCM .

"Clinical Research on ""Yin-deficiency with Inner Heat"" Acne Treatment Using Acupuncture and Moxibustion"

This study was aimed to evaluate the clinical effect of 66 yin-deficiency acne cases treated with body constitution adjustment using acupuncture and moxibustion. In this research, 66 acne patients with the body con-stitution of yin-deficiency were selected . These patients were randomly divided into two groups ( 33 every group ) . The acupuncture treatment group was treated by acupuncture and local treatment. And moxibustion treatment group was treated by indirect moxibustion and local treatment. The treatment was given twice a week. And the improvement condition of acne skin lesions and yin-deficiency body constitution were evaluated after 12-week treatment. The results showed that certain curative effects were received in both groups. However, the moxibustion treatment group had higher curative effect compared with the acupuncture treatment group. There were significant statistical differences between two groups ( P < 0 . 05 ) , which meant moxibustion with local treatment had a higher curative effect than acupuncture with local treatment to acne. In the aspect of skin lesion improvement, according to the statistics, the moxibustion treatment group were statistically significant compared with acupuncture group (P< 0.05), which meant more obvious improvement of skin in the moxibustion treatment group. In the aspect of body constitution, the body constitution scores in both groups were significantly declined and the moxibustion treatment group was more obvious. There was statistical significance between two groups (P < 0.05), which meant patients in the moxibustion treatment group obtained a more obvious body constitution improvement. After the treatment, follow-up was given to all patients for 4 weeks. The results showed that both the acne skin lesion con-dition and yin-deficiency body constitution score were decreased and not achieve the recurrence diagnostic stan-dard. It showed that acupuncture and moxibustion are able to activate the self-regulation and disease resistibility of the body. It was concluded that acupuncture and moxibustion not only improve skin lesion of acne patients with the body constitution of yin-deficiency with inner heat , but also regulate yin-deficiency body constitution . Moxibustion had higher efficacy in the treatment of yin-deficiency with inner heat acne than acupuncture.

Meta-analysis on Relationship between Serum Total Cholesterol and Coronary Heart Disease of Phlegm and Blood Stasis Syndrome

This study was aimed to find out the relationship between the serum total cholesterol ( TC ) and coronary heart disease ( CHD ) of phlegm and blood stasis syndrome . Meta -analysis was used on the comprehensive analysis of ten research literatures on TC content of CHD patients with phlegm-turbid syndrome, blood-stasis syndrome and normal control . The results showed that the content of TC was 0.99-2.426 times h igher standard deviation in the blood-stasis syndrome patients than in the normal control, Totalcombined = 0.71. And the 95% confidence intervals of Totalcombined was 0.16-1.25. And the content of TC was 1.019-3.761 times higher standard deviation in the phlegm-turbid syndrome than in the normal control, Totalcombined= 1 . 05 . And the 95% confidence intervals of Totalcombined was 0 . 43-1 . 68 . It was concluded that there were significant variations of TC content in CHD patients with blood-stasis and phlegm-turbid syndrome compared to normal control . Therefore , abnormal changes of TC content can be used as one of the objective CHD diagnostic criteria of phlegm and blood stasis syndrome .

Preparation of Protein-free Polysaccharide from Annonae Squamosae Semen and Its In Vitro Hypoglycemic Effect

The study was aimed to research the influence of glucose consumption of HepG2 cell and insulin-resistance of HepG2 cell administrated with protein -free polysaccharide from A nnonae Squamosae Semen ( ASS ) . Crude polysaccharide from ASS was prepared by water extraction and alcohol precipitation method . Its protein was removed by sevag method . The content of its total sugar was measured by phenol-sulfuric acid method . Besides , the influences of glucose consumption of HepG2 cell and insulin-resistance of HepG2 cell administrated with different concentrations of protein-free polysaccharide were determined . The result showed that protein-free polysaccharide from ASS can slightly improve the glucose consumption of HepG2 cell , which was related to its concentration . The protein-free polysaccharide from ASS can obviously promote insulin-resis-tance of HepG2 cell . When the drug concentration was 0 . 08 mg?mL-1 , the effect is the best ( P < 0 . 01 ) . Be-sides , the protein-free polysaccharide from ASS had certain synergistic effect as physiological insulin . It was concluded that the protein-free polysaccharide from ASS had good in v itro hypoglycemic effect .
