Papers covered in Medical F1000:A bibliometric analysis

Objective To identify the value of medical journals by analyzing the papers covered in Medical F1000. Methods The papers published before November 2012 recommended by Medical F1000 were retrieved,the recommended ratios of the total number of papers published in journals each year were calculated and ranked.Results A total of 27960 papers were recommended by Medical F1000.Of these papers,801 were published in New England Journal of Medicine and ranked first.A great difference was found in the number of papers ranked according to their recommended ratios and the recommended number of papers.Conclusion Only a small number of papers are recommended by Medical F1000.However,they can help readers access to the valued medical information in the shortest time.The recommended ratio and the recommended number of papers are the important evidence for the assessment of journals.

Contents in characteristic database of traditional Chinese medicine and its hierarchical analysis

The investigation of characteristic databases in 22 domestic colleges or universities of traditional Chinese medicine showed that the information resources have not been fully developed and the developed databases of tradi-tional Chinese medicine lacked of deep hierarchies.It was pointed out that updating their contents and deepening their hierarchies are the developing orientation for the characteristic databases of traditional Chinese medicine.

Outsourcing of classification and cataloguing should be handled with circumspection in academic library

After the relation of core and important professional work with general professional work was analyzed according to the current outsourcing of classification and cataloguing, its problems and prevailing reasons in aca-demic library, it was pointed out that outsourcing of classification and cataloguing should be handled with circum-spection in academic library.

Culture construction in college and university medical library

After the culture in college and university medical library was described, the necessity of its construc-tion was elaborated, and its implementation measures were stressed, such as setting up experience area, bringing into play of Primal interactive 3D anatomical database, planning subject activities according to the health holidays, providing personal space for users based on library websites, effectively popularizing reading, consecutively expan-ding service space, and carrying out personal service.

User subdivision theory-based innovative service in hospital library

The readers were divided into non-medical staff, scientific research medical staff, professional medical staff, practicing medical staff, patients and their family members using the user subdivision theory according to the subjects of service, characteristics of service, subject characteristics and information inquiry methods of readers. The service methods were innovated according to the characteristics of different readers and different measures were taken for meeting the demands of different readers,improving the satisfactory degree of readers and the service of library.

Invisible knowledge-based construction of values in medical staff

Protection of intellectual property rights for academic information resources on internet

The protection of intellectual property rights for information resources on internet was studied by analy-zing the types of information resources covered in library itself-developed database, OA database and online books, their access methods and involvement of intellectual property rights, and suggestions were put forward for enforcing the protection of intellectual property rights by establishing copyright law for information resources on internet and introducing advanced technologies.

Establishment of librarian performance appraisal index system in academic library

Objective To establish the scientific, rational and standard librarian performance appraisal index system in academic library in order to adjust their working behaviors, improve their service quality and increase the overall performance of library.Methods The current librarian performance appraisal situation was investigated according to the literature and on the field inspection.The appraisal indexes and their weight were established by Delphi and step analysis.Results The 3-scale appraisal index system was established, which include 4 No.1 indexes, 10 No. 2 indexes, and 59 No.3 indexes with their weight and score displayed.Conclusion The performance appraisal index system we established can effectively arouse the enthusiasm of librarians in scientific research innovation, manage-ment or social work.

Function assessment of APP software in China for seeking medical advice

The medical consulting service, disease inquiry and seeking medical advice functions of 10 commonly available APP software in China for seeking medical advice, such asRapid Asking Doctors,Handholding Doc-tor Selection, andChunyu Handholding Doctors, were compared, which showed that although the functions of APP software in China for seeking medical advice could meet the requirement of people for seeking medical advice, importance should be further attached to their accurate and integrative information and establishment of profit-making model in order to promote the sustainable development of medical APP software.
