APO A-I, APO B of coronary artery disease patients with normal serum HDL-C, LDL-C levels at Cho Ray Hospital

Descriptive, analytical study were conducted. Patients with coronary disease were measured HDL-C, LDL-C level. Group of patients with normal HDL-C, LDL-C levels were measured ApoA-I, ApoB. Comparision of Apo A-I, ApoB of coronary disease patients group with people without these disease. Study on 272 with coronary artery disease and 151 normal people. 165 and 213 of these patients have normal HDL-C, LDL-C levels respectively. 42.42% patients with normal HDL-C levels have low Apo A-I level and only 7.98% patients with normal LDL-C level have high ApoB

Nursing caries: prevalence and risks factors

Study on nursing caries syndrome of 197 children aged 2-3 years old in the kindergartens, located in districts, Ho Chi Minh city. 9.6% child were diagnosed as having nursing caries (at least one of the maxillary incisors having labial caries or/and erosion). 3 dietary factors, nocturnal bottle feeding, comforters, coated with sweeteners and use of fuices in the feeding bottle were found significantly associated with nursing caries. There was no significant characteristic with the exception birth order of the child, where the condition was significantly higher in the first born children as compared to the later issues of their parents

Perinatal mortality status at Tu Du obstetric and gynecology Hospital

Retrospective study on 31.404 births in 1996, 31.581 births in 1997 and 25.965 birhts in 1998 at Tu Du Obstetric and Gynecology hospital to compare rate and causes of the perinatal mortality. Perinatal mortality status during 3 years 1996-1998 were 24.6 ‰,17.8‰ and 16.9‰. Preterm delivery accounts for 9-10% total up to 70% of perinatal mortality. In the cause of preterm and neonatal mortality of 3 years: the first is respiratory distress syndrome and after that is congential malformation, asphyxia, neonatal infection, respectively. In the term mortality, the first is asphyxia, after that is congenital malformation neonatal infection, respiratory distress syndrome, respectively, in which the asphyxia is 0.97% and 42% in all causes of perinatal mortality

The azygos venous system in 50 specimens

Study on 50 specimens of azygos venous system (Vietnamese cadavers) included 47 male, 3 female, aged 30-65 from 1998-2000 and clinical research in portal hypertension syndrome. Patterns, diameters, sub-diaphragmatic origins of the azygos system of vein were observed. The retroaortic anastomoses, connections to brachicephalic veins, esophageal veins also were noted. Discussing some hemodynamic patterns based on morphologic aspect and the future trend of study

Hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage: the role of surgery

From March 1997 – September 2002, study on 31 patients intracerebral hemorrhage (28 male, 3 female) and 16 patients of control group (14 male, 2 female). The mortality of surgical treatment group was 32% and control group was 56%. Most of the benefit was in patients with lobar hemorrhage and following criteria: volume of hematoma  60cc, age  70, GCS  8. These is some suggestion that in the next future the treatment of intracerebral hemorrhage will involve non-invasive, stereotactic aspiration of hemorrhage through a single burr hole within hours

Dyslipidemia of atheromatous patients

Study on 210 patients including 120 atheromatous patients, 90 non-atheromatous patients at Transfusion Blood Center in HCMC. Research results showed that: the lipid-lipoprotein disorders had colleration to atheromatous. It was statistical. Hypercholesterolemia 62.6%, hypertriglycerid 51.6%, hypo HDL-C 48.3%, hyper LDL-C 45.8%. The lipid-lipoprotein disorders and atheroscelrosis on the over forty year old patients were higher than the young patients but there was no difference between male and female

A comparison of three delivery systems in aerosol treatment of acute severe asthma

To survey 30 patients aged 15-65 years with acute severe asthma. They were randomized into one of three different groups: group(A): reiceived salbutamol solution via a nebulizer impelled with oxygen; group (B): received Salbutamol solution via an air compressor-driven nebulizer; and group (C): received Salbutamol via a Metered-dose inhaler attached to a value aerosol holding chamber (Volumatic). After the 6 hours treatment, PEF (peak exhale flow) and other parameters improved significantly in 27 patients. No patient discontinued the trial or transferred to the intensive unit and no cardiovascular adverse events were reported in the study groups. These data showed that the three delivery methods were appropriate to treat subjects with acute severe asthma, however the metered dose inhaler (with holding chamber) was the best choice in the recent medical condition of Vietnam

Anatomic and surgical characteristics of Meckel diverticulum

retrospective study include 22 patients with Meckel diverticulum were found incidentally or because of its complications, between 1992-2002 in Binh Dan hospital, HCM city. Use the Fisher exact test with two tails to determine the correlation between the histological property and its clinical presentations. The results showed that the features of Meckel diverticulum were noted, no difference in sex. The histological type of the mucosa (gastric) had significant positive correlation with the clinical presentation. Resection of the unexpected Meckel diverticulum could be performed safely with a low complication rate

Primary amyloidosis: Diagnosis and treatment

Study two cases of primary amyloidosis with the pathognomonic symptom of macroglossia , the diagnosis and treatment of primary amyloidosis. The first one presented with lesions of the tongue, peripheral neuropathy and the bone marrow aspiration revealed <30% plasmocyte with neither bone destruction nor heart, kidney injury. The second case showed diffuse infiltration of amyloid, not only caused the macroglossia but also led to the injury of the heart, pleura, kidneys, subcutaneous tissues, and the autonomic nervous system with postural hypotension
