Jingjing HUANG ; Huafang LI

Chinese Mental Health Journal.2015;(6):437-441. doi:10.3969/j.issn.1000-6729.2015.06.007

Capacity assessment is of significant priority for medical treatment and clinical research invol-ving mental disorder patients,as to protect an individual's fundamental rights.Clinical judgment of individual's ca-pacity to consent most focus on medical situation,well-designed capacity assessment instruments should be used to support experienced clinical judgment.Capacity to consent can be adequately captured by measuring the constructs of understanding, appreciation, reasoning and communicating /expressing a choice.A large number of instruments designed by foreign developers to assess capacity to consent need validation and implementation in China, the in-strument designed by Chinese researchers has not been widely agreed.Establishing an effective capacity assessment instrument with psychometric properties (validity and reliability),which considering the clinical practice and culture background in china would be a breakthrough in methodology.

Chinese Mental Health Journal.2015;(6):425-430. doi:10.3969/j.issn.1000-6729.2015.06.005

The accurate diagnose is the precondition of effective intervention and services for autism spec-trum disorder, however it must rely on the scientific diagnostic criteria. The American Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders(DSM)is one of the most widely used diagnostic criteria for psychiatric disorders at present. It provides important diagnostic basis for the field of basic and clinical neuroscience, cognitive and behav-ioral science and disability research. The major change of autism spectrum disorder diagnostic criteria in the newly-published DSM-5 include the combination of disorder classification, the simplification of diagnostic criteria and divi-sion according to the severity level.Affected by this,it made the prevalence, the clinical research as well as educa-tion and related social services something new.In the future, incorporation of the social-psychological factors,com-patible with ICD and localization of ASD diagnostic criteria may be the major field of the diagnostic and classified criteria of ASD series research.
