Clinical effective durations after intracutaneous injection of a medical collagenous production

Objective To study the clinical effective durations of a medical injected collagenous products, a high-purity medical injectable collagen filling agents extracted from bovine leather (Fumeida Produced by Changchun Botai Pharmaceutical Biotechnology Co, Ltd). Methods 30 subjects (60 sides) with moderate to severe nasolabial fold wrinkles were selected to perform a clinical observation, in which 49 sides with moderate and 11 sides with severe labial fold wrinkles, and the average age of subjects were (41. 80 ± 8. 03) years. 1 ml of medical collagen was injected into the subjects wrinkle on each side by surgeons. The follow-up was made immediately, 7, 30, 90, 150 and 360 days after injection. The photograph was taken, and the image data and the validity were analyzed. Results The follow-up rate of immediate to 150 days after injection was 100 %, and 93. 3 % after 350 days. At the each follow-up points, the total effective rates were as follows: 100. 0 %, 100. 0 % , 96. 7 %, 90. 0 %, 83. 3 % and 44. 6 % .respectively. There were dry lips with herpes simplex in two cases of subjects at 7 d and 90 d after injection, no redness, induration, exudate, ulceration or other abnormal performance on collagen injection zone in the other subjects at each follow-up time point. Conclusion In this study, there is the longer clinical effective duration of injected collagen used in filling wrinkles with satisfactory results.

Modified round block technique in removal of huge breast tumor and mammoplasty

Objective To explore a surgical method which can not only remove the enormous breast tumor entirely, but also maintain the breast function and obtain satisfactory shape.Methods On the basis of traditional round block technique, we designed different form's outer ring and breast lateral Sshaped incision line according to the size of breast tumor and the degree of the papillae ptosis, trimmed away the epidermis between the two circles, a S-shape skin incision along lateral border of breast was made; after reaching to the capsule of tumor, we stripped off the tumor entirely along capsule surface, a large breast cavus subdermalis remained, and then made full use of the dermal-fat flap or dermal-fat breast flap to fill the cavity after tumor removal so that the shape of breast was reconstructed. Results All of the 5 cases maintained the breast function and satisfactory shape after surgery, no sensory obstacle and necrosis occurred in the papillae and areola, and the wound reached good healing. Up to 2 years of follow-up there was no recurrence of tumor was found. Conclusions The modified round block' technique is an i-deal method for removal of a huge breast tumor. The design is nimble and simple, and postoperative breast shape is satisfactory with light scar formation.

Therapeutic effect and safety on skin tightening by monopolar and bipolar radiofrequency technology

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety in the treatment for gravitation wrinkles and unsatisfied shape with raonopolar and bipolar radiofrequency (RF) technique. Methods 28 patients were enrolled in this study. Every patient was treated for four times with an interval of 14 days by Accent Pro radiofrequency electric device (Alma Lasers Ltd). The clinical photographs were taken before and after the treatment, and the parameters were recorded during the treatment. The clinical efficacy and safety was evaluated 1 month after the treatment by comparing photographs and patients' satisfaction. Results Satisfactory rates were as follows: 85 % in doctor side, and 90 % in patients' side. No blister, scald, pigmentation and scar were observed during the treatment. Conclusion High frequency electric technique can be effective for the treatment of gravitation wrinkles and skin tightening by heating tissue deeply and non-invasively. Our clinical study shows that RF is an effective, non-invasive treatment with less pain and low side effects.

Breast reconstruction with superficial inferior epigastric artery flap

Objective To present a method for breast reconstruction with the superficial inferior epigastric artery (S1EA) flap and to summarize the operative experiences. Methods The diameter and distribution were evaluated with multipledetector-row computed tomography (MDCT) angiography and doppler perfusion flowmeter. Bipedicle superficial inferior epigastric artery flap was designed below umbilicus. Superficial inferior epigastric artery and vein were anastomosed to the internal mammary artery and vein. Results Since 2007, we have used the superficial inferior epigastric artery flap in 4 cases of breast reconstruction. Four flaps survived completely. With the follow-up of 6-12 months, the reconstructed breasts were well-shaped and there were no complications such as abdominal hernia, bulge and weakness in donor sites. Conclusions Breast reconstruction using the superficial inferior epigastric artery flaps can not only preserve the advantages of the traditional method using the deep inferior epigastric perforator flaps, but also retain the maximal function of the fascia and the rectus abdominal muscle and prevent the occurrence of abdominal weakness and hernia. It is an ideal alternative method of breast reconstruction on condition that definitive preoperative assessment of vessels and skilled surgical technique are provided.

Expression of cathepsin G in photoaged fibroblasts

Objective To investigate the role of cathepsin G in photoaged fibroblasts. Methods Human fibroblasts were cultured and induced to premature senescence using UVA + MOP methods. Senescence-associated-β-galactosidase (SA-β-gal) stain was used to evaluate the positive rate of aged cells. The mRNA and protein expression of cathepsin G in photoaged fibroblasts were detected by real-time RT-PCR and Western blot techniques. Results Over 98 % induced cells presented a positive SA-β-gal straining. The expression of cathepsin G, detected by Western blot, was increased to (1. 70±0. 028) times of the control. And RT-PCR revealed that the synthesis of cathepsin G mRNA was also up-regulated to 1. 42±0. 09. Conclusion The results of our study demonstrates a significant correlation between photoaged fibroblasts and cathepsin G. The up-regulation of cathepsin G may play an important role in the damages of extracellular matrix and activation of MMPS in photoaged human skin.

Prevention and treatment of the complications caused by long-pulsed alexandrite laser on hair removal

Objective To investigate the causes and treatment methods of complications induced by the long-pulsed alexandrite laser on hair removal. Methods A total of 2 562 patients (3 279 sites) with unwanted hairs were treated by the long-pulsed alexandrite laser. Wave length was 755 nm. With 20 msec pulse width. 12. 5 mm spot size, 12. 0-16. 5 J/cm2 treatment energy, and 50-60 days intermitted between each treatment. Results There were 242 patients with complications such as erythema, eruption, blister, bulla, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, and scar. Conclusion The long-pulsed alexandrite laser on hair removal is effective and safe, and the correct procedures of treatment can reduce the complications.

Effect of electroporation mediated transfecting recombinant plasmid pIRES-hVEGF165-EGFP on angiogene-sis of distraction area during early mandibular distraction osteogenesis

Objective To explore the effect of electroporation mediated gene therapy on angiogene-sis of the distraction area during early mandibular distraction osteogenesis (DO). Methods Thirty-two New-Zeland rabbits were randomly divided into 4 groups: group A: recombinant plasmid pIRES-VEGF165-EGFP and electroporation; group B: recombinant plasmid pIRES-VEGF165-EGFP; group C: normal saline (NS) and electroporation and group D: control group. The rabbits were sacrificed at 1d, 3d, 7d and 14d after injection, respectively. The distraction area tissue was removed for histological examination and electron microscopy, and immunohistochemical stain for CD34 was performed to detect the microvessel density. Results Generation of vascular endothelial cells (VEC) in the group A and group B were active, and majority of VEC in groups C and D took on early change of cataplasia and apoptosis. The immunohistochemical stain for CD34 showed that it expressed weakly at the first day after transfection, and at 3,7,14 days after transfection, CD34 of VECs in the distraction area expressed positively. CD34 expression was the strongest in group A (P<0. 05), and there was significant difference among three groups and different time, respectively.Compared to each other, CD34 of VECs expressed positively with a tendency to rise in the groups A and B. But it fluctuated at the level of the expression at the first day in the groups C and D. Conclusion Electroporation-mediated transfecting recombinant plasmid could promote angiogenesis during early stage of mandibular DO. It could promote local vascular proliferation and penetration, increase the blood flow of broken ends in fractured bone. It indicates that electroporation-mediated transfecting recombinant plasmid play an important role in regulating and promoting growth and reparative process of the bone.

Clinical evaluation of glycerin and sesame oil praeparatum in treatment of xerosis

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of praeparatum containing glycerin and sesame oil in treating dry skin patients. Methods one of patient's limbs was randomly selected to use praeparatum containing 23. 8 % glycerin twice a day, and the other side to use praeparatum containing 43. 7% sesame oil twice a day. During 14 days, the effects were observed and recorded when following-up at the days 0,3,7 and 14. Extent of drying was measured by evaluating each of the clinical symptoms (rough, drying and scale) and the following parameters were also evaluated: stratum corneum hydration (SCH) and trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL). Results The clinical trial was completed in 24 xerosis patients, including 10 males and 14 females. The clinical scores for rough, drying and scale, were assessed by the patients and doctors, and both experimental and control groups were improved. Stratum corneum hydration was improved, trans-epidermal water loss was reduced, and both values had statistically significant difference (P<0. 01). There were no adverse reactions in all the patients during this experiment. Conclusions Both praeparatum containing glycerin and sesame oil could improve the condition of skin safely and effectively in xerosis patients, and the efficacy of glycerin praeparatum is better than sesame oil praeparatum.

Clinical effects of super hair removal mode

Objective To observe the clinical effect and comfortable degree of the mode of super hair removal. Methods The mode of super hair removal was used to depilate the hair nearby the hair line, cheeks, upper lip, beard, ventrum, areola of breast, axillary cavity, extremities, bikini area and so on. The total number of sites was 1 000. Some sites that were especially susceptible to pain, for example, upper lip and buccal region, were smeared with compound lidocaine cream for 1 hour at least before treatment. Results Hairs in the areas of extremities, ventrum, back and axillary cavity generally needed 4 to 5 times to eradicate, and the patients had no evident discomfortableness; hairs near to the upper lip and lower mandible generally needed 5 to 7 times to reach the effect which the patient was content, and anesthetics was indispensable, or the patients would present discomfortableness. Conclusions The mode of super hair removal is more effective, quicker and more comfortable in comparison with conventional methods. Therefore, it deserves to be spread.

Facial hormone-dependent dermatitis: a clinical analysis of 68 cases

Objective To explore the incidence of facial hormone-dependent dermatitis, and to raise the healing rate of it. Methods We applied non-steroid drug topically, cold compress combined with anti-histamine agents to treat facial hormone-dependent dermatitis in 68 cases. The results were compared before and after the treatment. Results There were significantly clinical effects of non-steroid drug topically, cold compress combined with antihistamine agents on facial hormone-dependent dermatitis, with healing rate of 82. 4 % , and effective rate of 100 %. Conclusions In order to reduce the incidence of facial hormone-dependent dermatitis, we should follow the principal of applying steroid agent strictly to treat facial dermatitis. Meanwhile, there is significantly clinical effects of non-steroid drug with topical use and cold compress combined with antihistamine agents on facial steroid-dependent dermatitis.
