Ranking analysis of publications from China hospitals in 2008

Objectives To provide outline for the Research & Development department of hospitals making research strategy by analyzing the quantity of publications and their cited status for the top 20 hospitals in SCI and MEDLINE, and the top 100 hospitals in domestic publications in 2008. Methods The number of publications and their cited times for the first 20 hospitals in SCI and MEDLINE, and the top 100hospitals in domestic publications in 2008 were analyzed with bibliometric analysis. Results Compared with 2007, the increased number and ratio of publications in SCI and MEDLINE for the top 20 hospitals were 1050, 51.19% and 658, 15.04%, respectively; for top 100 hospitals, the average decreased number of domestic publications was 2.08, and the number of cited publications was increased 202.52 and the increased ratio was 13.51%. Conclusions The SCI publications from top 20 hospitals increase sharply, the increase of the MEDLINE articles from the top 20 hospitals is slowly. The negative growth is showed in the number of domestic articles for the top 100 hospitals. In addition, the increase of cited articles is slowly and disproportion.

Delphi technique application in the evaluation of access to ophthalmic surgery

Objective To establish an evaluation index system for access to ophthalmic surgery so as to standardize the access. Method Collect 14 ophthalmologists' recommendations on access criteria for ophthalmic surgery in two rounds of questionnaire survey by Delphi method. Results The return rate of rounds of consultation questionnaire was 93.33%, and the average expert authority coefficient was 0.78.Nine ophthalmic surgery access indicators were established. The coordination of expert coefficient was 0.521 after two consultation. It had significant difference ( P＜0.01 ). Conclusion The ophthalmic surgery access indicator system is highly credible and allows quantitative assessment of ophthalmic surgery from various aspects. It is more demanding for ophthalmologist, and gets more involvement of patients in the evaluation of ophthalmic surgery access. It could contribute to scientific and rational decision-making on access for ophthalmic surgery.

Retrieval strategy for dentistry literatures based on medical subject headings

Objective To investigate a retrieval strategy for dentistry literature based on medical subject headings (MeSH). Methods We analysed the MeSH Tree Structures of PubMed in 2009 and combined it with the core glossary of dentistry to find out highly frequent dental words in MeSH. Then 6 words were singled out from the whole MeSh Tree to apply for a retrieval strategy for dentistry literatures. Results 102,500 pieces of dentistry literature were obtained from the year 2006 to 2008. Conclusions This research strategy can improve the efficiency of literature search in dentistry field for clinical or laboratory researches.

Evaluation criteria for admittance of medical techniques class Ⅰ and management in primary hospitals

To enforce the application of medical techniques in the primary hospital so as to improve clinical quality and ensure clinical safety, we established the evaluation criteria for admittance of medical techniques class Ⅰ and the incentive system for new technique application. When both systems were applied, favorable results were obtained.

The development of interdisciplines for contemporary medicine

We have investigated the situation about recent interdisciplinary construction for medical subject from several 985-project universities in China as well as the well-known overseas universities via internet. We also have analyzed the results and in mean time, put forward some related suggestions in order to probe an available strategy of interdisciplinary construction for medical subject in the universities of China.

Analysis of researches on food safety in China from 2000-2008

Objective to reveal the research situation about food safety in China by analysing the articles published from 2000 to 2008. Methods bibliometrics were used to analyze the articles. The cooperation and the distribution of foundations were searched out from CBMdisc ( China scientific journal Database) with "food safety" as keywords. Results 1829 documents and 4,063 authors were identified. The rate of cooperation was 68.05% and the authors came from 32 provinces, autonomous regions and special administrative regions of China. 194 papers were supported by various kinds of fund. Conclusion Research on food safty is developing fast to meet the soring needs in this respect of the society.

Thoughts on management of scientific research instruments in the Second Military Medical University

As the investments from the state and society in universities increased rapidly, the scientific and technological resources gained huge promotion. However, the efficiency of some instruments remained low, and the repeated purchases of some instruments occurred frequently. Here the authors discussed about building a practical, reasonable and efficient system for lab management.

Functions and characteristics of scientific research administration in modern hospitals

Along with the globalization of science and technology, the investment on medical research has been increased gradually in recent years, which brings many challenges to the administration of scientific research. The traditional passive conception and model of research administration can no longer meet the needs of modern research development, and therefore changes are urgently needed. The function of research administration in modern medical research needs to be redefined and new characteristics will subsequently arise. The changes are believed helpful in promoting the efficiency of research funding and implementation of the research projects and further facilitating the transformation and application of research achievements.

This study discussed the dual affiliated institutions of one author in a scientific paper.This issue could give rise to troubles such as the dispute over signature rights, dispute over intellectual property rights, etc. Moreover, it could bring negative effects on the development of science. In addition, some suggestions were put forward to deal with this issue.

Experience of developing talent team in traumatology through the conduct of national key project

A team is the formal group of individuals collaborating to realize some specific aim. With regard to the status of the traumatic medicine, it is now essential to set up a talent team to overcome the bottleneck in its development, which not only contributes to the development of the discipline, but also to the enhancement of competitive capacity at the international levle. We here summarized the successful experience in the conduct of a national key project in this regard that realized resource optimization and personnel integration. We also discussed the ways to promote innovation in management, and explored the new pattern in talent cultivation in the new century.
