A Thrombus within an Interventricular Membranous Septal Aneurysm Leading to Cerebral Infarction:A Case Report

Seongken KIM ; Joon-Won KANG ; Hyun Jung KOO ; Dong Hyun YANG

Journal of the Korean Society of Radiology.2024;85(1):210-214. doi:10.3348/jksr.2022.0151

Interventricular membranous septal aneurysms are rare. Since these aneurysms can lead to complications such as obstruction of right ventricular outflow and thromboembolism, the detection of this aneurysm has clinical significance. Herein, we report a case of an interventricular membranous septal aneurysm with an internal thrombus thought to be the cause of a cerebral infarction.

Retroperitoneal Ectopic Pregnancy Detected by CT:A Case Report

Sunjin RYU ; Chul-min LEE ; Bo-Kyeong KANG ; Mimi KIM

Journal of the Korean Society of Radiology.2024;85(1):217-221. doi:10.3348/jksr.2023.0064

Retroperitoneal ectopic pregnancy is a rare form of ectopic pregnancy. Owing to its rarity and nonspecific symptoms, diagnosing retroperitoneal ectopic pregnancy at the initial presentation poses a significant challenge. Typically, the diagnosis relies on non-radiation imaging modalities, such as ultrasonography and MRI, whereas CT is infrequently used. Herein, we report a rare case of a retroperitoneal ectopic pregnancy, which was diagnosed using CT.

CT and MRI Findings of Low-Flow Mediastinal Vascular Malformation: A Case Report

Hanlim SONG ; Mi Sook LEE ; Soo-yeon JEONG

Journal of the Korean Society of Radiology.2024;85(1):204-209. doi:10.3348/jksr.2023.0039

Mediastinal vascular malformations are rare and their diagnosis can be challenging. Imaging is vital for diagnosing mediastinal vascular malformations and can help avoid unnecessary invasive procedures. Herein, we report the detailed CT and MRI findings of a rare low-flow mediastinal vascular malformation in an asymptomatic 63-year-old male.

Imaging Findings of Spinal Metastases with Differential Diagnosis:Focusing on Solitary Spinal Lesion in Older Patients

Sun-Young PARK ; Min A YOON ; Min Hee LEE ; Sang Hoon LEE ; Hye Won CHUNG

Journal of the Korean Society of Radiology.2024;85(1):77-94. doi:10.3348/jksr.2023.0156

If a solitary spinal lesion is found in an older patient, bone metastasis can be primarily considered as the diagnosis. Bone metastasis can occur anywhere, but it mostly occurs in the vertebral body and may sometimes show typical imaging findings, presenting as a single lesion. Therefore, differentiating it from other lesions that mimic bone metastases can be challenging, potentially leading to delayed diagnosis and initiation of primary cancer treatment. This review provides an overview of imaging findings and clinical guidelines for bone metastases and discusses its differences from other diseases that can occur as solitary spinal lesions in older patients.

CT Findings of Azygos Venous System: Congenital Variants and Acquired Structural Changes

Ha Neul KIM ; Youkyung LEE ; Su Jin HONG ; Ji Hun KANG ; Ji-hoon JUNG

Journal of the Korean Society of Radiology.2024;85(1):95-108. doi:10.3348/jksr.2023.0079

The azygos venous system is a crucial conduit of the posterior thorax and potentially vital collateral pathway. However, it is often overlooked clinically and radiologically. This pictorial essay reviews the normal azygos venous anatomy and CT findings of congenital variations and structural changes associated with acquired pathologies.

Recanalization of Portal Vein Graft Occlusion via a Percutaneous Transmesenteric Approach:A Case Report

Min-Hyuk YU ; Dong-Ho HYUN ; Shin-Seok YANG

Journal of the Korean Society of Radiology.2024;85(1):230-234. doi:10.3348/jksr.2023.0043

Interventional recanalization is an effective treatment option for postoperative portal vein occlusion. A transhepatic or transsplenic approach is preferred, whereas a percutaneous transmesenteric route enables antegrade cannulation. Here, we present a case of successful percutaneous transmesenteric recanalization in a patient with a postoperative portal vein graft occlusion.

Spinal Presentation of Spontaneous Intracranial Hypotension

Hye Jin YOO

Journal of the Korean Society of Radiology.2024;85(1):24-35. doi:10.3348/jksr.2023.0151

Spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH), which generally presents as orthostatic headache, is increasingly being identified due to improved imaging technologies and heightened awareness. Many prior studies have reported the characteristic brain MRI findings of SIH. However, recently, focus has shifted to spinal MRI, as SIH is believed to be caused by leakage of cerebrospinal fluid from the spinal dural sac. Advanced techniques such as ultrafast CT myelography and digital subtraction myelography have emerged as useful technique to identify the site of cerebrospinal fluid leakage. In this review, we discuss the diagnosis, spinal MRI findings, imaging techniques, and treatment of SIH.
