Objective To establish the quality control standard for Anzhongtongbian capsules. Methods Radix Et Rhizoma Rhei, Radix Paeoniae Alba and Cortex magnoliae officinalis in Anzhongtongbian capsules were identified by TLC method. The content of emodin was determined by HPLC. Results The Radix Et Rhizoma Rhei, Radix Paeoniae Alba and Cortex magnoliae officinalis in Anzhongtongbian capsules could be identified by TLC. The linear range of emodin was 0.08～0.24 mg (r =0.9999). The average recovery was 98.86% and RSD=1.11% (n =5). Conclusion This text method is simple and dependable, the exclusive is strong, good in reappearance, and available for the quality control of the preparation.
